(Epilogue version)

Dear Andie,

My summer has more or less turned out as I expected. I'm tutoring my sister for her PSATs, I have booked some gigs for Mystik Spiral (Trent's band), but declined to be their manager, and at my mom's insistence, started working at a mid-range clothing store at the mall. My boss is a tyrant and my co-workers are incompetent, but on the plus side, the customers are stuck-up and remind me of my sister. Meanwhile, Jane has managed to sell a few artworks and gotten a part time job at an art supply store (lucky her).

But as inane as my situation is, its nothing compared with what Jodie's parents are putting her through. She is currently working three jobs, only two of which pay, doing college prep classes, and in her spare time she has an 'active social life' (i.e. fundraising schedule). I don't know how she does all this, but I suspect she's given up sleep. This might be a good time to send her an email, to let her know she's not alone.

Speaking of which, I don't regret my decision (I'm not wired that way), but I do often wonder how things might have been different if I had taken you up on your offer. So please, tell me how your summer has been.

Cyncially yours

Daria Morgendorffer, Misery chick

Dear Daria,

Working at the Potter family B&B has been grueling. Barely a moment of my day isn't taken up by something. But the guests make it all worthwhile. They are such an interesting cross section of society and I get along pretty well with most of them. I suspect if you were in my place, you would come to the opposite conclusion.

However, I can't help feeling socially isolated. For various reasons, I haven't seen very much of my friends this summer. Jack and my dad have reconciled and are on a father-son road trip. I'm happy for them, but I also miss them. Jen and her sister are getting along famously, but they mostly keep to themselves. Although I hear Eve and Dawson may be an item (but that is second-hand information). Dawson remains isolated in his room, for the most part. He has taken up still photography and has turned his room into a photo lab. He is also working on another project. He won't say what it is, except to say it was your idea. Do you know what it is?

Meanwhile, I have been sleeping in Joey's room (she's not using it) and it has only served to remind me how much I miss her and Pacey and how conflicted I feel about the two of them. On the one hand, I want to be happy for them. On the other, I feel quite jealous. Do you have any advice about this? I know you went through something similar once.

Yours Sincerely

Andie McPhee

Dear Andie,

As I said last time, make a decision and stick to it. Be happy for them, or not. Be jealous, or not. Sabotage their relationship, or not. Either way, be decisive. Whatever you decide, stick to it. Fortunately, you have the rest of the summer to make up your mind.

Also, good luck applying for college. Let me know how it turns out.

I have no idea what Dawson's new project could be.

Sarcastically yours

Dear Daria,

Just when I thought this summer couldn't get any crazier, it did. Eve disappeared, along with a number of valuables from Mrs Ryan's house, as well as Dawson's still camera and camcorder. The real shocker though, it turns out Eve was telling the truth about who she was. But she was also drowning in gambling debts. Jen and Mrs Ryan are pretty distraught, as you can imagine. The same day, Mrs Lindley was cleaned out by Eve's boyfriend (accomplice?), so shocks all around.

Meanwhile, Dawson's new project was a documentary about the events leading up to Principal Green's firing. Dawson showed us a rough cut, which was pretty good. But he also wants to include interviews with Pacey and Joey, once they get back. As I'm sure you can imagine, that will be awkward. But I'm sure you don't care about any of that.

See you around, Misery chick

Yours sincerely

Andie McPhee

Dear Andie,

Not that I care or anything, but feel free to keep me in the loop about this. I'll try to do the same regarding my transition to higher learning.

Sarcastically yours
