Chapter 3

Jason screamed as he sat up in bed. He panted a little and looked around – realizing that he was in his bedroom. He looked down at his left arm and sighed in relief when he realized that it was still attached to his shoulder. Jason moved his arm a little. It was free. Jason sighed in relief again. A dream. It had all been a horrible dream.

Maggie sighed a little before slowly sitting up in bed herself. "Wha-what's going on?" Maggie asked groggily.

"I'm sorry, Maggie," Jason said. "I just had a really bad dream – that's all."

"What happened?" Maggie asked – switching on the bedside table lamp and looking at her husband in concern.

"Darnedest thing," Jason said. "In my dream, I had a patient with OCD and a weird obsession with those blood pressure testing kiosks you see in pharmacies. He actually brought one into my office during his appointment, and after I wrote him a prescription for his OCD, I figured that I should test my own blood pressure. I used the machine that he left in my office, but it kept squeezing my arm tighter and tighter. You could even say that I had 'growing pains,'" Jason said with a little smirk. "Anyway, that darn machine just wasn't working right. No matter what button or switch I tried, I just couldn't get my arm free." Jason sighed. "And then, I finally fell backwards and felt this burning feeling in my shoulder. I then looked at my arm but was horrified to see that – "

"Relax, Jason, I think I get the idea," Maggie said. "I don't want you give me nightmares, too. What's important was that it was all just a dream, and your arm is perfectly fine."

"You're right, Maggie," Jason said. "All I can say is thank goodness that dream wasn't real. Anyway, sorry for disturbing you. Good night." Jason then kissed Maggie.

"Good night," Maggie replied – kissing Jason. The two then lay back in bed and drifted back to sleep.

The next morning, the Seavers had gathered in the kitchen for breakfast. Everything appeared to be back to normal. Luke then came inside the house – entering the greenhouse in the back of the kitchen.

"Hey, guys, you'll never believe this cool thing I found near the dumpster behind the pharmacy!" Luke said with a wide grin on his face. The Seavers looked at each other in confusion before watching Luke go back outside. Seconds later, Luke came back into the greenhouse – pulling in a Vita-Stat 9000-S blood pressure testing kiosk like the one in Jason's dream. "It's a blood pressure machine!" Luke said. "Can you believe they actually threw this thing away?" Jason's eyes popped open before he fell back in his chair and fainted. The other Seavers helped Jason back up and looked at him in concern while Luke just stared at the others dumbfoundedly. "What did I say?"
