Hi! I would like to give you a word of warning(Ehhhh): There is a fire and someone nearly dies soo… If you're sensitive to that sort of stuff this probably isn't the best story for you. Also some swearing because who doesn't like some swearing drama? Bonne lecture! Have fun!
They had been in Mr. Washington's class when they began to smell smoke and hear the crackling of flames.
Alex, Allie, and Thomas had been debating about America's financial system and all three were shouting at the top of their lungs.
"IT"S A PERFECTLY SOUND—"
"KEEPS STATE DEBT IN CHECK—"
"VIRGINIA AND THE SOUTH WERE FINE—"
The fire alarm went off.
Allie practically jumped fifty feet and Alex fell off the table he had been standing on. He fell onto Thomas and both boys crashed to the floor.
Thomas pushed Alexander of him and said,"Get off!"
Alex rolled his eyes and scrambled off him. Allie jumped off the table and Mr Washington said,"Everyone calm down—"
"We are calm! It's those three who need to be more chill!" Aaron Burr interrupted, pointing towards Alex, Allie, and Thomas.
Mr. Washington glared which made Burr shrink back in his seat. "As I was saying, everyone follow our safety policy and line up. No pushing and no one gets left behind."
The students began to move toward the door when Allie said,"Hey Mr. W. I think that might be hard." She opened the door and the hallway was aflame.
He frowned and said,"Well shit."
Alex's eyes widened and he exclaimed,"What about the air ducts?"
Thomas rolled his eyes and said,"Not all of us are underfed hobos, Hamilton. Hamiltons."
(A/N BTW Allie is Alex's twin sister if that's not clear.)
Allie walked over and socked him in the nose. He turned to her and raised his hand when suddenly Mr. Washington grabbed both teens by their collars and pulled them apart.
"There will be no more fighting, you understand me?" The three teens nodded sheepishly.
"Now everyone, who here can fit in the air ducts?" Only Alex and Allie raised their hands.
Mr. Washington rubbed his face and said,"Ok. See that tree out there, everyone?" The class nodded. "We are going to climb out onto that."
"But what about the other students?" Allie asked.
He sighed and pointed outside. "I think we're the only ones still left in here."
This was true. Everyone else was gathered out in the front lawn.
Unfortunately Mr. Washington's classroom was on the fourth floor and over the raging fire no one could be heard.
Mr. Washington opened the window and slowly helped students onto the outstretched tree branch. Thomas went first, followed by James Madison, Aaron Burr, James Reynolds, and Charles Lee.
Soon the only people left in the room were Alex, Allie, and Mr. Washington.
He looked at them and asked,"Who wants to go first?" The twins looked at each other and Allie said,"Alex, why don't you go first."
"Are you sure?"
She nodded.
Mr. Washington helped Alex onto the branch and said,"Be careful, son." Alex opened his mouth but then closed it.
"Thanks."
He edged his way out onto the branch.
Once he was a safe enough distance away Mr. Washington turned to her and said,"You ready?"
She was about to nod but then she heard a loud, high pitched scream. It belonged to a female. Allie realized she knew that scream.
Allie gasped and Mr. Washington said,"What?"
"I-i-i heard a scream. I-i-it was Maria's." She said, face painted with worry.
The blood in Mr. Washington's face drained. "Damn it." He knew how much that girl meant to Allie. They were dating and had been best friends before they were involved romantically.
Allie looked at him and said,"Go and call 911. Don't wait for me." With that she raced into the hallway, her hand covering her mouth.
"No!" Mr. Washington yelled. He tried to follow her but before he reached the doorway, a ceiling beam collapsed blocking the entrance.
Back to Allie…
Allie raced through the hallways, screaming Maria's name but got nothing in response.
She could feel her pace slowing but kept going anyways. She searched every classroom, closet, and cranny on the fourth and third floor. She was about to move to the second one when a bout of dizziness hit her.
Allie stumbled but grabbed a railing. She tried to stay steady but her knees buckled and her head smacked against a sharp corner.
She could feel blood dripping from the cut but didn't cease her search.
Allie pulled herself into the next classroom which was empty. When she turned to leave the ceiling came crashing down.
The world went dark.
Back to Alex and G.W.
Mr. Washington decided the best course of action would to be to leave the building and tell the firemen about Allie. He felt like he was betraying her when he climbed out the window, but anyways continued.
When he reached the ground Alex and several of his friends ran over.
"W-w-where's Allie?" He asked looking around. His friends, John, Lafayette, and Herc looked scared, like they knew the answer he gave would be bad.
Mr. Washington swallowed and said,"Alex do you think you could get me a fireman?"
Alex gasped and fell to the ground, sobbing. Herc said,"I'll go."
John kneeled down next to Alex and pulled him into a hug. Tears streamed down the friend's faces and a girl in red came sprinting over with Herc and a fireman on her heels.
"Where's she?" The girl cried. "Where is she?! WHERE IS ALEXANDRA?!" She broke down and Mr. Washington realized who she was.
He turned to her but thought it best to talk to the fireman first.
"There's a girl trapped in there. Junior, last seen on the fourth floor. She was in a green dress, has red hair and glasses." He swallowed. "Please—please find her."
The fireman nodded.
"I'll do my best."
With that he raced off leaving Mr. Washington and several ashy teenagers.
Maria grabbed him and said,"She's in there isn't she?" He swallowed and nodded. The girl sobbed loudly. Alex pulled her into a hug.
"Are you Maria?" He asked. She nodded and said,"Why? Why? Why I-i-is she in th—" She didn't finish but Mr. Washington knew what she was asking.
"She heard you scream. She didn't want to leave you in there so she raced off before I could catch her. The ceiling collapsed and I couldn't get into the hallway before it did."
Maria cried. "I screamed because she was still in there! I thought—I thought she wouldn't make it out! And now she might not and that's all my fault!"
George was about to open his mouth when Alex said,"No. No it's not. My sister is one of the most impulsive people I have ever met. And that's coming from me." A small chuckle came from them all. He continued,"She would move mountains and oceans for you and I know Allie wouldn't want you to blame yourself for this."
Maria hugged him, fiercely. "So what do we do?"She asked.
At that moment a team of firemen came bursting through the main doors. In one of their arms was a girl, unconscious and covered in ash.
The group looked at each other and George knew they were all thinking the same thing. Alex and Maria stood up and sprinted over to her.
Allie was bleeding from the forehead and several other places. Her arm was bent at an unnatural angle and her breathing ragged. Her glasses were broken and only halfway on her face. Her dress was ripped and burnt and her hair was cropped from the fire. None the less, she was alive.
The man carrying her loaded her onto a stretcher. He went off to get a paramedic, leaving Allie alone on the stretcher.
Alex and Maria rushed over to her and each teen grabbed one of Allie's hands.
"Please Allie—Please wake up." Alex begged. Maria said,"Come on Als, you have people here who can't live without you." She fixed Allie's glasses.
Allie opened her eyes and saw Maria and Alex standing over her.
Allie starred at Maria and suddenly and pulled her into a hug. "I-i-i thought you…Don't ever do that again!" Alexandra commanded.
Maria and Alex looked at each other and both began to yell.
"DON'T TELL ME WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN YOU WENT RUNNING INTO A BURNING INFERNO—"
"SERIOUSLY ALEXANDRA COULD YOU HAVE BEEN MORE STUPID—"
"THE IRONY—"
"AAHHH!"
Allie frowned and rolled her eyes. "Wow guys I nearly died here and you're yelling at me. Love you too." She muttered.
"Don't take that tone with them young lady." George said.
"Yeah dude maybe you should be more careful and not as impulsive…" John pointed out.
"Says my brother's boyfriend." Alexandra said, rolling her eyes.
Laf and Herc snickered and both Alex and John glared at them.
"It's true, Mon ami." Lafayette said.
Allie laughed and then began to violently cough. Alex saw his sister struggling to breath and pounded her on the back. This helped but then she began to cough up blood.
"Hey guys," She said weakly,"I think I need a hospital."
With that for the second time in one day, the world went dark for Allie Hamilton.
One year later…
"Now don't be running into fires today, Als." Maria joked. Allie rolled her eyes and said,"Yes Mother." Maria gently pushed her and the two separated.
Allie remembered the fire that had happened a year ago. It had put her in the hospital for a week and a cast for several months.
Slowly she had healed and gotten stronger and her hair had almost grown back to the length it was before, though Maria claimed it looked cute short.
The day was normal from there on out and after school their friends met up.
Hi everyone! Sorry for the stupid ending but I ran out of ideas and I didn't want it to be ended in the hospital because that's kinda a clichè. Anyways thanks for reading and make sure to check out my other stories! Also reviews are always appreciated and make sure to favorite! Bye!
Au revoir lecteurs!
