Hermione opened up the letter and started to read it. The whole compartment went silent to see what is going on. Harry cleared his through and Hermione looked up. She sighed and said, "I'm sorry everyone. But I have to go. This letter wants me go to the front of the train in the first compartment." "Alright, we will see you later. Right?" Harry asked. "Of course. If I don't come back I will see at the carriages." Hermione stated. As Hermione left the compartment all she heard was Ron saying, "Don't count on it. She lets a lot of people down already." Hermione just ignored what Ron had to say behind her back. She went to the front of the train. There was no one in the compartment yet. Hermione sat down and took out her book to read. Time must have gone by fast because she heard the door open and saw Draco Malfoy standing there. "What are you doing here?" Hermione asked. "I got a letter that told me to come here. What are you doing here?" Malfoy asked. "I got a letter also. What do you think the letter is about? It didn't explain a lot in my letter. How about your letter?" Hermione asked concern. "To answer your first question, I don't know what the letter is about. My letter just said to come to the front of the train to the first compartment." Draco stated. The room went silence and no one knew what to say. Since the war the Malfoys were trying to have a better image. They heard a crack and pop at the door, there stood Professor McGonagall. She smiled at the both of them. Draco moved to sit next to Hermione so he can be across of Professor McGonagall. "Good evening, both of you. How are you doing Miss Granger Mr. Malfoy?" "I am good Professor." Draco said. "I am well Professor. What are we doing here?" Hermione asked. "I am glad you asked. You both are here because I have chosen you two to be Head Boy and Head Girl." McGonagall said. Draco was shock and Hermione was excited. It was always Hermione's dream to be Head Girl. "Now there are some things you need to know. Since you both from two different houses and those houses are rivalries, I want you two to try to get along. This is to show house unity. Since the war I think the school needs to have more house unity." Professor McGonagall explained. "Of course, I see where you are coming from. I can turn over a new leaf if he can too." Hermione said looking toward Malfoy. Draco Malfoy just nodded in agreement. He knew that he wanted to become a better person and this was a step to the right direction, mostly if he be friend Hermione Granger, the Gryffindor sweet heart. "Alright, now let's get to business. Some roles that you are going to need to do as Head Boy and Girl are to make a schedule for the prefects to do rounds at night. You both understand that since you both were prefects. Another thing is you are going to have to take charge and be role models for the younger years. They are going to look up to you. Last thing before the prefects come. I am going to need you to stay behind after the feast. There will be more to discuss later on tonight. I trust you and I know you are going to be a good choose. See you all at Hogwarts." McGonagall said leaving. Hermione got out a parchment and a quill to start righting things down to discuss with the prefects. Draco just sat there in silence. He did not know what to say to her. But Hermione finally spoke up and said, "Malfoy, I mean Draco. I think we need to start over and forget about our past toward each other." "I agree Hermione. But I do want to apologize for everything I have done to you over the years." Draco stated. "Thank you Draco. Forgive and forget. I appreciate the apologies. Now let's get down to business. The prefects will be here soon. We are going to need to explain what their roles are as prefects. Also explain how they cannot use their power for granted." Hermione explained. Hermione and Draco started to talk and jot down some ideas for the new school year to bring up to Professor McGonagall. After a while the prefects started to come in slowly. Hermione started by getting each of their names and what house they were in. Draco explained about the role and responsibility of being a prefect is. Hermione told them that they need to take turns and do rounds on the train right now to monitor the students. All the prefects left and it was just Hermione and Draco now. The room stayed quiet at first. But Hermione spoke up, "I am going to go grab my things and come back up here. Is that alright with you?" "Yeah, I might as well do that also. If you don't mind the company?" Draco asked. "Of course not, we can get to know each other better and we are almost to Hogwarts anyway." Hermione reminded Draco.
