Captain's Log Stardate 6569.7. In the days since recovering from the shock of the other Captain Kirk's departure with Samara, in the dead space, we've come across more irregular readings. Without Samara, it seems pointless to study it in depth.

"Sir, a wormhole is opening bearing straight on the aft bow 81951km" Ensign navigator Checkov noted.
"On screen." Kirk commanded, "If it's another Defiant, or Apollo we're throwing torpedoes at it." He commented sourly.
"We're too close, sir- we'll be drawn in for sure." navigator Sulu worried.
"Mr. Scott, how are the engines holding?" Captain inquired.
"It's strange, sir. Engines are fully functional, as if there wasn't a rift, sir." Came the response.
As soon as the wormhole opened, sound waves are caught by the sensors, but it's not spaceship based, so Uhura translates it, placing it onto com. As Uhura turns sound on, desperate strained cries pierced the bridge "BROTHER!" a tin voice called from the wormhole.
"AL! No! AAAAL!" A curdling scream broke through the speakers as something shot through, A baby blue semi-transparent ice looking encasing emerged from the wormhole on screen, too small to see inside, with the exception of darker color within. Even without the light of a sun, it still glowed a near white color.
"Captain, something has come out of the wormhole." Sulu observed.
"Magnify," Kirk leaned in on his chair.
"It's a ... what is that, sir?" Checkov looks confusedly at Captain Kirk.
Kirk squints at the enhanced visual. His eyes bulge, and he gasps slightly, in a rush he slaps the intercom on "Councilor Fai, go to transporter bay 2. Lt. McKenna, accompany him. Mr. Scott, locate that signature, and bring it on ship."
"But it's so small, sir- there's barely a signature." Mr. Scott protested.
"Do it, Scotty." Kirk retorted.
"... The wormhole's preventing me from getting a solid lock on it Captain." He said a moment later.
"Brother!" a final yelp cut off by the closing of the portal.
Scotty's voice is again heard over the intercom, "Captain, That's a human in there, they're flailing so much I'll have a dickens of a time retracting them. Recommending Mr. Spock instead of Fai."
"We've never encountered a structure like this before, Scotty. Mr. Flowright is the only one with a base of knowledge at this point. You have the bridge, Mr. Spock." Captain Kirk nods to the first officer. The Captain swirls out of his chair in a swooping fashion, waltzing to the elevator. The only response he received was a well placed raised eyebrow, and a noble lengthening of his back.

"Stop squirming!" Kirk heard the Chief Engineer Scotty complain as he entered the transporter room. Lt. McKenna and Fai were already there, ready and waiting. Fai's talisman angled in an offensive manner, McKenna positioned behind his back. Fai's flowing robe draped lazily behind him.
Over the intercom, Spock's voice came in clear, "The object has dissipated, Captain. Has the human been successfully brought on board?" All eyes were on the transporter.
On hands and knees, a blonde boy no older than 11 materialized, gasping for air. Fai gripped his staff harder, but his eyes softened. "Al," The boy cried hoarsely, as though he were choked up.
The insignia on the long red trench intrigued McKenna, and she took a tentative step toward the stranger. "Wait, I sense great power within him." Fai cautioned.
Dr. McKenna looked to Captain Kirk for assistance. The boy slowly rose to his feet with an odd metallic clanking when his foot hit the ground. Lastly, he raised his head to reveal piercing liquid gold-like eyes. "Where am I?" He demanded coldly.

Tense music comes to dramatic lead out as video fades to black.
Intro lead in, and then Commercial break.

Quick fade in back to blonde boy on one knee, and stands up again. "Where am I?" His demand, low and menacing.
"You are aboard the United Starship Enterprise." Kirk replied, guarded.
"What is your name, child?" McKenna inquired soothingly.
The boy's eyes flashed, "I'm not a child!" He spat, shaking his fist toward her, She made a small yip, and stepped back. Fai lowered his staff in pre-striking manner.
"What is your name?" Kirk repeated the question smoothly.
"Edward." He spoke with his teeth clenched. "Where's that b**tard that sent me here, with the impossibly tall hat and robes like that freak there?" he pointed to Fai.
Scotty looked at the captain, Captain looked at Fai, Fai remained rooted where he stood, and McKenna lightly hung behind Fai's back.
"Lower your weapon, son. You're not in any danger here." Captain Kirk drew attention to Edward's right arm, which had a sharp blade fixed onto it.
Edward looked down at his arm, and rolled his eyes, then closed them and clapped his hands together. When nothing happened, his eyes flew open and looked at his arm. He tried again, but still nothing happened. Edward kept attempting until he looked like he were a sheepish one-man audience. By this point, Fai released his fighter stance, and stood his staff up and all the others let down their guards.
McKenna again attempted to approach Edward. This time Fai nodded.
Edward dropped his hands. "I don't understand." Captain Kirk advanced as McKenna did, until Ed was at chest level, Kirk looked down at the boy as Ed inclined his head with a sour glare at the middle aged man.
Kirk took a breath, bringing up his arm to speak to Edward, "Perhaps," Fai interrupted, "we should retire to more comfortable accommodations?" Kirk sighed, shooting an unamused glare at the councilor.
"Councilor Fai, please return to the bridge," Kirk commanded, "I am certain they would appreciate your assistance with the strange energy source we just encountered." Kirk looked purposefully at him. Fai nodded and headed out. "Dr. McKenna, I'll take it from here." He nods to her as well, She smiles in a head bow, and exits without a word. "Come with me." He beckoned to Ed with a "come here" finger. Kirk starts turning to leave himself.
"No way!" Ed stubbornly asserted. "You're probably that black haired jerk's lacky! Now take me back to my brother!" He commanded.
Kirk turns back to Edward. Believing him to be speaking of Spock, bristled at the thought. "I'm not sure you're qualified to make such demands, young man."
Edward pulled out his State Alchemist watch, "This watch denotes my stature. I am a State Alchemist, and therefore the equal ranking of a Major. As a lower ranking officer, captain it is your duty to surrender to my authority." He sounded off snootily. Edward stuck his nose in the air in a show of authority, and walked out of the transporter room, Captain Kirk following close behind.
"That," Kirk points at the watch, his cool facade chipped off a bit, "has no meaning here. That crest on your cloak, of what species or affiliation are you?"
Edward placed the watch back into his pocket, and stubbornly scowled up at the Captain, "Didn't you hear me? I'm the rank of Major, you're..."
Getting heated, Kirk interrupted "You are not part of the federation, so I remain in charge here- besides, I doubt anyone of your size could handle such a position. Where are you going?" Kirk's arms spread out as he walked backwards, attempting to stop Edward from walking any further down the corridor.
In a controlled teeth clenched rage Edward balled his fists, "You think you're sooo funny." Edward's voice raised to a yell, "I'm still growing you jerk!"
Personnel passing by stared at the pair.

Scotty blew out his breath, "phew. Captain's got his work cut out for him." turning down a different corridor behind them.

(Commercial break)

Fade in video shows the Enterprise traveling as voice over starts "Captain's log, supplemental. After rescuing a lone human child from an unknown source, the child seems quite intelligent, though impossible to believe a child could also be terrifying."

Captain gestured for Edward to enter his quarters. Scowling, Edward stomped inside.
"Edward, what year is it to you?" Kirk inquired.
"It's 1915. What does that have to do with getting back to my brother?"
Astonished, Captain Kirk tried to mask his reaction. "I didn't realize prosthetics were already invented by then." Captain Kirk took a seat facing his screen, and offered the chair opposite him.
"Alchemy suddenly stopped working too. Earth's crust must have stopped moving. That's impossible though." Edward grabbed the back of the seat, and noticed again his blade. "Winry's going to kill me when she sees this." he deplored.
"I have to tell you, things have changed." Kirk regarded him, ready for another outburst.
"It figures. That dang Mustang probably got in the way. Again. The idiot. Now I'm stuck back here because Gluttony swallowed me and Ling, and then weirdo Kobun Ka decided to play with alchemy himself and separated me from both Al and Ling." (I'm sure real Ed would be actually swearing here, but it is implied)
"Did your father teach you such a mouth?" Kirk sardonically pried.
"It's hard to learn from someone who was never there." He took the seat offered, voice taking an edge clearly recognized as resentment, "It's not like my father cares anyway. Even after mom got sick and then died, he didn't come back. Didn't have the stones to stick it out. Just picked up and left."
Kirk becomes quiet as he's reminded of his own wife passing. To keep himself from getting too emotional, He draws attention back to Edward's prosthetic, "That looks pretty advanced. May I look at it? It's intriguing."
"It's more than just a prosthetic. It's automail." Edward corrected, leaning forward to extend his arm out.
Kirk turned it over in his hands and noticed some colored wiring inside, under his armpit. "What are those colored wires?"
Edward's face took on a sickly sheen, "Those are the artificial nerves that attach to my real ones." He strained to say, thinking of when Winry attaches them. Captain Kirk's own face colored in surprise. While continuing to look at the incredibly curious craftsmanship, Captain Kirk realized he was unwilling to avoid having a father figure moment, Kirk took a deep breath, "Listen, the thing about being a father is..."
"Captain," Came Spock's voice over the com, "the anomaly is reoccurring. With the same signature as before. Councilor Fai believes it will return this boy to his home." Edward's scowl deepened, and he turned his back to hide his face, taking his arm back.
"There's also more audio transmitting 'noise' sir." Uhura added.
"On my way." Captain Kirk turned a loaded glance full of sadness, longing and pity at the broad shoulders Edward turned on him. "It doesn't mean your father didn't care." He concluded, resisting the urge to place a comforting hand on the boy before standing up. "We need to get you back home. Come with me, we'll help you get back to your brother."

Edward is ushered to the bridge alongside Captain Kirk. Other than another intrigued eyebrow raising from Spock, no one reacted to the newcomer. Uhura switches the audio on for Captain to hear it. There's metal clashing like there were a sword fight. "When I get my hands on Ed..." A voice came through the speakers.
"That's Ling." Edward took a step forward. "That's Ling fighting."
"Give that back." One man commanded.
"That's not yours." Said another.
"That's the black haired freak. Kobun Ka. With the Magi, Judar." Edward commented. His face showed concern for a moment, and looked back to the captain. "What is this?" He asked, pointing at the screen.
"No way! This is my immortality!" Ling shot back. Ed sounded like a pubescent child in comparison.
"This is the 23rd Century. That," He nodded at the screen, "is space you're looking at. We're in the outskirts of the Beta quadrant."
"All this time we've been reaching for the sky." Edward reached out his hand as if to grasp the stars, "No wonder my alchemy doesn't work." Edward looked again to his hands. "We're not in Amestris anymore."
"Sir, the portal is showing signs of re-closing." Sulu informed the bridge. Councilor Fai whipped his talisman around, and waved out his hand in a moderate martial art-like manner. Edward's body started to turn a lighter color, and his body began to sink through the floor.
"He's getting shorter..." commented one man.
"Why don't you come say that to my face?" Ed retorted. He looked down to see his knees disappear beneath him. For the next seconds, the only noise heard was screaming as he disappeared. A ball of light appeared on screen, then shot through the rift, and the portal closed solid. "No residual energy, sir." Checkov noted.
Edward continued to scream until he slammed into Ling's back on top of a pile of gold, knocking him and Kobun Ka over. Edward's hand struck a long thin sword that had been in Ling's hand, causing Ling to lose grip of it briefly to rebound into Edward's hand. As soon as the rapier was in Edward's hand, a noise blew, and something blue began to expand out of the object. Moments later a Djinn (genie) appeared before the two men.
"I will have my revenge!" Screeched Kobun Ka.
The Genie spoke once, "This is not where you belong." and with a snap of his fingers everything went dark. When Edward awoke, he was in a dark place. Small fires burned nearby, but not enough to light the entire place. Beneath him a stagnant shin deep flow of red.
"Where the heck am I?" Edward screamed.

Without another word after expelling Edward from the ship, Fai waved his staff again, creating an array of strange runes around him. "I apologize men, but I must be going as well" He bid them farewell, and disappeared in an enveloping thick starry blanket that emitted from the runes.
"Sir, what do we make of this, and do we report this to the Federation?"
"With even a sma.. brief contact, you can still make an impact, Checkov. Let's just hope it is enough." Captain Kirk, in his chair again, smiled to himself (camera pans out and fades to black once again).

For those not in the know, Captain Kirk is the main character from the series Star Trek (now affectionately known as The Original Series, or TOS) Created by Gene Roddenberry. The Captain Kirk used for this was fabricated in accordance to the performances given in the webseries Star Trek Continues (completed and available at ) which, in my opinion is not only better, but also the greatest omage to the original.

Edward Elric and Ling come from an anime called Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood created by Hiromu Arakawa
