A Little Mischief : Chapter 3
Junior Smurfling was certainly not bored... He was not bored... He was certainly not.. Oh who is he kidding? He was so bored out of his mind right now, that he would take everything to turn up an excitement. But that won't end well... Especially with his protective Dad who was on in his radar every single time...
Handy tried to help the young smurfling, but it just doesn't work like that... Junior really tried to be entertain with what others tried to get him busy, but it just doesn't seem to work out...
"Dad.. Can I go to the forest? Please?"
"No." Came a very expected answer from Painter Smurf.
"But I won't wonder off!" Junior immediately protested.
Painter sighed then put his brush away. His son has the combination of the smartest smurfs and the annoying smurfs as well in his gene. He can't blame him for that, but he has to make certain that his young son knows what he's doing and stay safe as possible.
That means, no going to the woods.
"Junior.. You don't understand.. The forest is too dangerous for a young smurf like you.. And you has certainly attracted too many problems at once lately."
"Wha.. Am not!" Junior argued.
Painter raised his eyebrow at that, "Really? Then who was the one who hides all of Baker's breads just to pass some time?"
"Well.." Junior wavered a little.
"Then who was the one who also borrow Handy's tools without permission and ended up making a roller skate with boosters that went around the village and making a mess in every inch of the village?"
"I already fixed that up.."
"And wha tabout that time.."
"Okay! Okay! I get it. No going to the forest.." Junior sulked. Painter patted his head, "Go on and play around the village, or you can go and help Baker in exchange. He would like to have some helping hands around this smurfing days."
"Okay.. I'll go.."
Junior did go, and he did went to Baker's place to help out. But what he didn't expect is his opportunity to make some mischief out of his chore.
"You didn't mind if I went and use this, right?" Junior asked.
Baker looked up from the bottom shelf of the kitchen. He has his suspicious feeling when Junior made that kind of face, but he can't be certain of what his motives are. So Baker just nodded while Junior grinned happily at the permission.
"Thanks Baker. I already done, can I go out now?"
Baker checked on his chore, and when he's already satisfied, he ushered the young smurfling out to have some fun. Junior didn't need to be told twice, he jumped on the chance and quickly went outside near the border of the bridge to made up his plan and make some mischief in the village.
The next morning, every smurf woke up with a smell of Goodies essence, but when they arrive at Baker's or possibly Chef's place, none of the two were already making any food yet.
It was so strange. Every time the smurfs look up from what they all doing, they will smell the scents again and quickly got hungry, especially Greedy. When they were all doing their activities and confused on where the scent came from, Junior Smurf were laughing at the top of the tree where no one can see him or even hear him.
It's not really a good mischief or prank if he was being honest to himself, but seeing everyone was so confused and some were determined to find the culprit, it really made him satisfied a little. Besides, it's not like he was Jokey, who can made up a prank from scratch and not get caught of it. Nope, Jokey was only a little part of him, so his sense of humor was only a little. Not to mention he has part of Grouchy in his genes.
What Junior didn't count is that Tracker has already found him.
"Junior! Is that all your doing's?!" Tracker said when he reached the branch where Junior was hiding. Junior didn't expect to get caught so early on, so he was surprised when he saw Tracker and slipped from the branch.
Junior yelped out of surprise, But Tracker moved fast and quickly grabbed onto his hand. Possibly preventing a near-death experience for Junior. He quickly pulled the young smurfling back to the branch and steadied him off before scolding him.
"What are you doing, Smurfling? You could've an accident! I thought Painter didn't allow you to climb on trees anymore after the previous near slip a few months ago." Tracker exclaimed.
Junior cowered a little. A mad Tracker wasn't somesmurf to be messed with. But then again, Junior has some Tracker genes in his smurfling body, it lessened Junior's fear from him. But he still scary, mind you.
"Dad didn't really forbid me from climbing trees.. He just told me to be more careful.." Junior muttered for Tracker to hear.
"And did you?" Tracker retaliated.
"To be fair, you surprised me back there." Junior muttered back. But shut his mouth when he saw Tracker's glaring at him.
Junior sighed, and finally said, "I'm sorry.. It's just.. getting boring around here without any smurflings around to play with.. And the other smurfs are busy doing their own things.. I can't just simply bother them to play with me.." he confessed.
Tracker softened at that and sighed, "Come on, I think that's enough prank you do in one day."
"Are you going to tell Dad?"
Tracker regards the young smurfling for a while before answering, "No."
When Junior look surprised, he continued, "It's not like the biggest prank you invented, and it will passed. Besides, you will only let off the hook when you can clean your mess up. Deal?"
"Deal." Junior was happy with it and Tracker smiled a little before helping the young smurfling down.
It was one of the smurfy day indeed.
