After arriving on Wood Island, Raven and Apple wasted no time in getting to the Gym, which was set up like a dojo.
"About time you got to my Gym, Raven, I've been hearing all kinds of news about you," said Cerise as the two stood on the battlefield.
"Sorry that it took so long," said Raven.
"This will be a single round battle using the Double Battle System, the first to lose both Pokemon will be the loser, battle begin!" said the ref.
"Come out, Medicham and Lucario," said Cerise.
"Time to scare up some fun, Gangar and Dusclops!" said Raven.
"When did you get a Dusclops?" asked Cerise.
"Just the other day," said Raven.
"Dusclops, use Shadow Punch on Medicham!" said Raven.
"Ghost Type moves do double the damage to Psychic Types," thought Apple as the attack hit, sending Medichm stumbling backwards.
"Medicham, use Mind Reader then Psyshock on Gangar!" said Cerise.
"Lucario, you use Shadow Ball on Dusclops!" said Cerise.
"Dusclops, use Protect, Gangar use Fire Punch on Lucario when it's in close!" said Raven.
"No!" said Cerise as her attacks were stopped and Gangar landed a hit right to Lucario's chest, sending it flying backwards and landing on the ground hard.
"Lucario, can you get up?!" asked Cerise as Lucario laid on the ground.
"Lucario," said Lucario as it stood up.
"He cares for her a lot, must have been friends since they were children," thought Apple.
"Let's bring the scares up a notch, Dusclops," said Raven as she started her Z-Move.
"Not good," said Cerise as Dusclops used Never-Ending Nightmare.
"Medicham and Lucario are unable to battle, the winners are Gangar and Dusclops!" said the ref.
"You got me good, Ray, I never saw a Ghost Type Z-Move coming," said Cerise as she walked up to shake Raven's hand.
"I just had a good type match up is all," said Raven as she shook Cerise's hand.
"Hey, seeing how it's been so long since you left how about staying the night?" asked Cerise.
"Apple's cooking is good, but no one can beat your mom's," said Raven with a big smile.
