The Girl from Yesteryear

Summary; Inspired by the web series Nuka Break, alternate universe.
Benjamin J Eldridge and Lawrence "Larry" Snyder are traveling threw the Commonwealth, they find out about a Vault up in the Northwest near Sanctuary, the two Ghouls decide to see if there is anything they can scavenge from the Vault for a few Caps, but instead find a girl from the past, this is the story of how this unlikely Human changed the Commonwealth, a story where Nate sides with the Brotherhood but also hold a terrible secret that he will do anything to keep hidden.
Chapter 1 Another survivor.
Jennifer Harrison fell to the floor gasping for breath, she looked around she could hear the computer announcing that the there was a system wide failure, she coughed a few times.
After a few moments Jenny stood she walked over to the pod in front of her she could see her neighbour, Jenny stared at the frozen figure with in the pod, Jenny looked at the console she could see that the older woman inside the pod had freeze dried.
It looked like she had died painfully, after a short while Jenny walked over to several other pods every one of them held a dead person, every one of them was some one she had known most of her life.
Jenny was horrified by what she was seeing, this was some kind of sick experiment, she discovered after reading a terminal it explained everything they were never expected to wake up they were to remain frozen until the whole system failed, even if one of them was to suffer heart failure nothing was to interfere with the experiment.
She took a bit of pleasure out of the fact that the people conducting the experiment ended up being abandoned by Vault Tec after the bombs dropped and they ran out of food and ended up at each others throats.
As she made her way threw the abandoned vault, after a while she came yet another room with cryo pods in she noticed that one was empty, Jenny frowned she turned as and looked at the occupant of the cryo pod across from the one she was in front of.
She gasped as she recognised the woman with in it was Nora yet unlike the other she had not died of suffocation she had been clearly shot in the head, Jenny wondered where the baby was and where was Nora's husband was.
Jenny walked threw the Vault finding the desiccated bodies of the Scientists and the Security guards, she managed to find a 10mm hand gun as well as some ammo.
As she went she came across the bodies of large roaches, after awhile she came across even more desiccated bodies of the staff members a few even had pip boys on their wrests.
After a short while she figured out how to put the pip boy on.
Once it was on Jenny decided to make her way to the overseers office to try and figure away out of the Vault.
After a few twists and turns as well as killing a few very large roaches, Jenny finale found the Overseers office she could see that there was a open door way.
Jenny decided to look threw the computer to see what else she could find out about the experiment that had occurred in Vault 111.
She managed to even find a few holo tapes, she played them in her newly acquired pip boy.
"Overseers log 167, it has been almost seventeen months since the bombs fell, every one is waiting for the next few weeks to go by they are all waiting for the all clear signal, the problem is the Radiation is still very high, almost to high for my likening, the other problem is we will start running out of food with in a month, hopefully Vault Tec will come a retrieve us once the eighteen months are over, but there has been no signal what so ever from the outside from Vault Tec or from the Government for that matter.
On another note Doctor Harold Mansers has continued with his Radiation experiments, I was not pleased when I heard that PFC Jennifer Harrison was to be placed in my Vault, but who am I to argue with Vault Tec.
Though why conduct the experiments? It's not like she is ever going to leave this Vault, but it seems that Harrison has a rare genetic mutation that with a little twicking could make a person completely immune to radiation sickness, and could even be healed from wounds with radiation, according to Doctor Mansers the world will become irradiated and that there will be many mutations with humans as well and animals, insects, flora and fauna.

Jenny stared at the holo tapes she then placed another holo tape in the pip boy.
Research log 200 Doctor Harold Mansers recording (deep sigh).
It has been nineteen months, there has been no all clear signal from Vault Tec, I think the Overseer is loosening his mind I think that being down here for well over a year with the same faces day in and day out, and the whole fact that the world that we knew is gone in fire, has broken him mentally, he has gathered us in his office with as much supple as we could get our hands on, he then made demands on the security to hand over all the food medical supply's and weapons, the man is terrified of what lies above us, I don't think the man realises that we will not last very long ageist men who are trained in the use of weapons, the security personnel want out, they are realists.
(Deep sigh) I have seen the scanner reading, the radiation is fairly low though much higher then it had been before the bombs, but not at lethal enough levels, it is enough to cause some minor sickness but nothing that we could not adapt to with the use of Radaway and Radex.
I hope that at some point PFC Harrison can some how escape, when the system finally fails, by the guess of some of the technicians that should be in around two hundred plus years.
I was more then a little horrified when I was informed by Vault Tec that my test subject was the Daughter of a labelled traitor, (Sigh) traitor that is what they call a Conscientious Objector nowadays any one who protests ageist the War is a traitor.
I do believe that I have altered her DNA enough so that she could survive a highly irradiated area, I of course will not live to see if my experiment has worked though I do envy her seeing the new world that will be created, end log.
Jenny blinked several times, she should have known that her getting a spot in a Vault was not a coincidence, it was another stupid punishment because her Father had objected to the War, Jenny wondered who had "betrayed" her Father he had not been a stupid man he always kept his opinions to himself he only ever spoke his thoughts when he was around family or friends.
She sighed who was she kidding she knew full well who had betrayed her Father.
His own wife, her Mother, she had always enjoyed a life of opulence, she saw any threat to the high life that she was accustomed as something to be crushed with out mercy, a number of their neighbours had disappeared not long before the bombs dropped, she always seems to have more readily available cash to hand.
Jenny couldn't say she had, had a very happy childhood her Father had worked hard to make sure they had a lovely home, when he was home he tried to spend time with Jenny but more times then not he was too tired.
Her Mother on the other had left her to raised by a Mister Gutsy.
Her Mother loved to fly out to Vegas or Reno once every other Week end, or spending a few days of the week in Boston ether with the girls or with what ever young boy toy she was sinking her claws into.
She had even told her Father that she was applying for an apartment in West Virginia, Appalachia, Watonga, a fully automated city.
Jenny swallowed the lump in her throat, her Mother had never been over maternal towards her, she had over heard people say that not long after she was born her Mother had rested a week then had gone on a shopping spree and had a load of cosmetic surgery's.
She had no memory of her Mother ever hugging her or being a Mother towards her, she half heartily wondered what had happened to her Mother, had she gotten her upper class apartment in Watonga, had she gone to Vegas or Reno.
Jenny had, had very little to do with her Mother once she had joined the military, her Mother saw it as an embarrassment that her Daughter had joined the Navy.
She for some reason had thought that her Daughter would marry some one filthy rich and live the same life she did, Jenny had been shocked when her Mother had started to arrange for her to meet men who in her opinion where eligible bachelors.
Jenny had come to believe that her Mother had been trying to relive her life threw her Daughter due to the fact that despite her Mothers attempts she was not ageing very well, and with the hard partying that she was doing she looked decade older then she was.
Her Mother had been desperate to keep her way of life no matter the cost, she betrayed neighbours and finally her own Husband just to keep her self in the life that she was accustomed.
Jenny picked up the remaining holo tapes and put them in her pockets she would have to find a rucksack, she then spent awhile taking what she could find in the Vault in the hope she could trade with what ever life was out side the Vault.
Meanwhile outside the Vault.
Two figures walked up a little used path, "There's nothing here!" Said the taller of the pair "I telling you Benji there's a Vault around here!" Said the second one "Benji" sighed deeply Benji had a full head of dark brown shaggy hair that grazed his shoulders and was dressed in a red shirt, with a black waist coat, black trousers, and a pair of dusty combat boots and a pair of fingerless gloves on his hands, in his hand he held a sniper rifle on his hip he had a 10mm.
On his back he had a rucksack that held a few more weapons as well as some supply's the other man was wearing yellow trousers, yellow dirty boots, a pale yellow shirt and a dirty drown aviation cap on top of his very hairless head, he had a 44 magnum tucked into his dirty yellow trousers as well as an equally dusty ruck sack on his back.
"Larry! There is nothing here damn it!" Growled Benji.
Larry sighed he turned around and looked at his friend "Look a buddy of mine in Good Neighbour told me that there is a Vault up near Sanctuary Hills, there is plenty of salvage that we can sell" Said Larry.
Benji glared at Larry "No doubt we sell what ever crap we salvage from this place to your buddy" He said still glaring Larry shrugged "If this place is so ripe for the plundering why has no one else torn this place apart?" Asked Benji.
Larry sighed again before he answered.
"That's because until recently no one really knew about it, and if any one did know about they didn't know where it was in until recently, but a short time ago someone crawled out." He said
Benji sighed deeply, "Fine, we'll scope it out" He said Larry grinned at him before they carried on up the over grown path.
After a few minutes the pair walked in to a clearing that had several skeletons on the ground, Benji searched their ragged cloths he found a more or less intact pack of cigarets he then went threw the wallets a few photos a little bit of old world money which could be scraped for paper and metal, among them was a few soldiers so he got a little bit of ammo Larry chuckled as he went threw a soldiers back pack "Looks like this guy thought he might get lucky" He said Benji looked up he shook his head as he saw what Larry had in his hand "Not that those would be of any use for us" Grouched Benji as he continued to look threw the belongings of the long dead he too found what Larry had found, several packs of intact Condoms "Your right but they are still good for smooth Skins" Said Larry as he stuffed the packs in his ruck sack.
Benji walked over to a slopped box inside he found a little scrap as well as a large red button he sighed deeply he hated it when Larry was right.
He pressed the button and walked over to what looked at the top of a missile silo.
There could be heard the sound of grinding gears, there was a jolt as the floor began to descend, Benji put his sniper rifle on his back and pulled out his 10mm he cocked it ready for what ever might be in the forgotten Vault.
Jenny jumped when she could hear the heavy door of the Vault open.
Someone had opened the door from the outside, she made her way over to where she knew the entrance was.
As she approached she heard voices it sounded like two men with a scratchy voices.
She stopped when the two men came into view she could only stare in shock.
They looked like what was in the old Zombie movies.
The pair stopped when they saw her "Ah hi" Said the shorter one who was primarily dressed in yellow "Who are you and what are you guys?" She asked she was surprised how calm she was.
"I'm Larry this is Benji" Said Larry before Benji spoke "Benjamin, Ben for short only he calls me Benji, and to answer your other question we're what are called Ghouls, we're not zombies we were once Human like you but got exposed to a little too much Radiation and it changed us, I take it you've been down here since the bombs dropped?" Asked Ben Jenny nodded "How long has it been?" She asked for a bit Ben thought before he answered "Two hundred and eleven years give or take" He said Jenny blinked "Damn every one I know is dead" She said she looked at the two Ghouls in front of her "Is there a town near by?" She said "Nearest real settlement is the old base ball stadium they call it Dimond City though our kind aren't welcome there, the next place is Good Neighbour a little rough but you'll get a more less honest price for any gear you've got to trade" Said Ben, Jenny sighed "Is there no one in Sanctuary or Concord?" She asked.
"Who are you? Asked Ben.
Jenny blinked a few times "Sorry I'm Jenny" She answered.
"As to your question do you mean the Col-De-Sac down the road? No there's no one down there the place is a mess as for Concord more or less the same, once in awhile few Raider gangs hang out there" He said.
"How about you join up with us, you could help us scavenge for stuff to trade we'll split what we get" Said Larry, Ben looked at him then at Jenny and sighed.
"Is there anything in here that we could scrap?" Asked Larry, Jenny shrugged "Not sure there isn't much here, they were all suppose to leave after hundred eighty days but they didn't get the all clear, if they did get out they didn't leave very much" She said.
Larry nodded and started making his way threw the Vault.
After a few hours the new group made its way down to the ruins of Sanctuary Hills.
They decided to remain in one of the ruined houses, it seemed the street was not as empty as they had first thought they found the destroyed remains of a Mister Gutsy in fact it had only just been destroyed.
"It's Codsworth he was the house robot for Nora and Nate they lived here with their infant son Shaun, but this looks recent, you guys didn't do this did you?" Asked Jenny as she looked at the destroyed Mister Gutsy then at the two Ghouls, Ben shook his head his dark hair waved about "No we passed threw the street but didn't enter any of the houses figured we'd come back afterwards for shelter and to see if there was anything to scavenge" He said.
Jenny poked about at the destroyed Mister Gutsy she soon found the storage area, she flicked a hidden switch to open it, in side was a number of holo tapes, she wondered why Codsworth had them.
"What's on the tapes?" Asked Larry as he opened a few tins of dog food and poured them in to the pot that was seating over the camp fire.
Jenny shrugged and put the first one in "Let's see? Hmm seems to be a list of people who were taking chems, nothing interesting really" She said as she removed it and put in a second one this one was about a Mother Who was rebuilding an old Corvaga with her Son, the next was a complaint from one of the neighbours it seemed one little boy was starting to terrorise his neighbours as he ran around dressed as a Chinese Solider.
Jenny then put a second tape in and pressed play this one was an audio recording, she gasped when she heard the voice on the tape.
"Hello Nate so good if you to come here I hope you appreciate that I had you come to my apartment here in Water Street it wouldn't do for your pretty Wife to know the truth" (sound of door closing and a sigh).
"You didn't give me much choice Sarah, Nora can never know what I did in a moment of weakness" (Sound of foot steps and the squeak of a sofa being sat on).
"Come now Nate you are Human, in this world it is fast becoming a kill or be killed, I like the way my life is but my Husbands foolishness is going to ruin everything, I refuse to go back to the life I had, (A deep sigh) Nate we both like our lives as it is right now you with your lovely house, a pretty young wife, an adorable little boy, if it got out what you did you can say good bye to all that".
(The sound of Nate standing up suddenly) "Are you threatening me!?" He demanded.
(A woman's laugh, and the sound of a cigaret being lit) "No Nate I am not threatening you, that would be foolish but I might remind you I have friends in high places who would notice if I suddenly disappeared or turned up dead".
"No I am merely stating that we both have a problem that can be sorted with ease and with no danger of it falling on to us".
(The sound of Nate sitting back down)
"How?"
(Woman laughing softly)
"Oh Nate, you don't want anyone know about the incident in Alaska, and I don't want to loose my very comfortable way of life".
"I know for a fact that the Military would also not like this revealed to the public, I know that they are looking for a scape goat, I happen to have just the goat required".
"Go on"
(The sound of Sarah seating back comfortably on a sofa)
"My foolish Husband doesn't like the War, he is not making the correct friends, he keeps protesting at the treatment of the Chinese-Americans this is making him enemy's, I don't think it will to hard for us to tell them that it was my Husband who betrayed those platoons in Alaska".
"You would betray your own Husband just so you can maintain the way you are living?"
(Sarah laughing)
"Oh don't be all holier then thou with me Nate you betrayed your Country just so that you wouldn't be taken prisoner by the Chinese, I am merely betraying one insignificant person".
"Besides what is one more betrayal for a traitor"
"I'm loyal to Nora".
(Sound of some one standing up, Sarah laughs softly, the sound of cloth sliding down skin).
"Like I said Nate what is one more betrayal to a traitor, you betrayed your country, you honestly think your vows to Nora mean a thing now, besides with the baby when was the last time you and her had sex?".
"I know men, you have needs you may say you are loyal to your pretty wife but I can clearly see that your body does not honour what your brain is telling you".
(Sarah laughs again, the sound of a zipper being undone)
Jenny fast forwards the tape then hesitantly press's play though she could see that Larry was disappointed not to hear what happened after the zipper was pulled down.
"My you are talented, I almost envy Nora"
(The sound of a cloths being put on)
"Don't talk about Nora"
(Sarah sighed deeply).
"Oh don't try and be all innocent, besides by this time tomorrow your record will be clean once more and my Husband will be on his way to either a windowless hole in the ground or some lab for experimentation, I will be free to fully enjoy my self with his insurance that the government will insure that I get it".
(The sound of some one walking across the floor)
"See you back at Sanctuary Hills Nate do say hello your pretty wife for me".
(Sound of a door opening then closing).
(Sound of a cigaret being lit, a phone being picked up then dialling)
"Mathews it's me, it's done, yes I got it all on tape if he even tries to expose the truth of what he did, the tape gets copied and first one goes to his wife then the press with very careful editing of course, I'll tell him if he even looks like he will confess to his wife".
"The money?, oh good I look forward to spending it on a new set of teddy's, I'm sure you will enjoy seeing them Good bye".
(Sound of the phone being hung up)
"Ugg if you think I am going to endure your sweaty body in my bed again you can forget it".
Holo tape ends.
Jenny sat there shocked, Ben sat across from her "Who was that?" He asked.
Jenny blinked a few times "That believe it or not was my Mother, I knew she was fooling around but never would I have thought that he would cheat on his wife, with my Mother no less, and I never would have thought he would betray America he comes from a long line of service men, his great great Grandfather served in the army during the Second World War, it was a proud family tradition" Said Jenny as she pulled out the holo tape and stared at it.
"By what you Mom was saying Nate betrayed America during the Anchorage campaign, I had a few friends in some of those platoons that were betrayed, Damn your mom was a piece of work she betrayed her Husband just to keep her life comfortable, and seduce a Husband to betray his loving wife" Said Ben shaking his head.
Jenny sighed deeply "I wonder if the Water street apartments are still standing?" She wondered aloud.
"I think they are in fact their not all that far from Good Neighbour" Said Larry as he ladled some cooked dog food in to several bowls.
Ben watched as she ate it "I'm surprised you willing to eat dog food" Said Ben as he ate some as well.
Jenny shrugged "I was in Alaska, it got pretty rough when we ran out of proper food, by time we left there were not stores left that had any cat or dog food or food of any kind left, so you see I've eaten worse" She said as she continued to eat.
Ben nodded "In the morning we can see if there is anything to scavenge here, then we can make a move" He said.
A short while later they slept.
Next morning.
With packs filled with as much scavenged as was possible they slowly made their way towards Good Neighbour.
Jenny looked at the town of Concord, it looked more or less intact.
The group made its way down to Concord, after a short while they they were hit with a stench.
"What happened here" Asked Larry as he pointed his 44 magnum, down the street, Ben shrugged as they slowly made their way down the street.
After awhile they began to come across fresh dead bodies, a number had been shot, a few it seemed had been blown to pieces, a hole was in the middle of a street.
Jenny notice that a few of the bodies had seemed to have been shredded.
She turned her head as Ben cocked his sniper rifle, she raised an eyebrow "A Deathclaw got em" He said.
"I assume we do not want to meet this Deathclaw?" She asked Ben shook his shaggy haired head "No we do not, especially not out in the open like this, this way" He said as he indicated to museum of freedom.
As quickly as they could the trio made their way to the museum, the front door was gone all three stopped when they got in.
Laying on the floor in a pool of its blood with dozens of bloody holes in its body as well as laser burns was a dead Deathclaw, all around it was dead people.
"Damn!" Said Ben as he made his way around the Deathclaw he could clearly see that the people were dead torn apart by the dying Deathclaw.
Suddenly they heard a wet cough, with guns at the ready they made their way over to the sound.
They soon found a black man, his clothes were bloody and ripped, in his arms he had a laser musket.
"Are any of them alive?" He asked threw a mouth full of blood, he winced as Ben looked at the ruin that was his stomach "Sorry their all dead, I think for most it was quick" He said the black man coughed again "Damn it! They had made it all this way from Quincy only to be betrayed again" He said.
"What happened?" Asked Ben as he handed the black man a bottle of whiskey he took it gladly and took a swig he hissed as the whiskey went down his throat.
"We had been surrounded by Raiders, then a short time later this guy turned up claimed he'd come from a Vault and that he had been cryogenically frozen for two hundred years, we told him about the Power Armour that was on the roof and about the mini gun, he promised to help us, we believed him he'd just shot his way to us" He said he took another swig of the whiskey.
"By the way Preston Garvey, one of the last of the Minute Men" Said Preston as he introduced himself.
"I'm Ben, this is Jenny and that's Larry, was the guy called Nate?" Asked Ben.
Preston nodded "You know the bastard then?" Asked the dying Minute Man.
"No but she does, she's from the same Vault, she's just found out some stuff about him" He said.
Preston looked at Jenny "Was he always a traitor then?" He asked Jenny sighed "It seems so, then what happened?" She asked.
Preston sighed as the whiskey began numb him, "He made his way to the roof, and climbed in to the armour, we could hear the mini gun as he fired it, then we heard the a Deathclaw for awhile we head the mini gun then the gun faded, for a long time it was quite, we assumed that he had killed them all, so we all went down in to the main stair case to wait for him, suddenly the door's were smashed in, Mama Murphy took the brunt of it, I like to think she was dead before she was smashed into the wall by the doors" Said Preston.
He sighed again before he continued, "Then all we could see and hear was a bloody and very pissed off Deathclaw, the last thing I remember was the hearing screams and the roars of the Deathclaw then nothing" He said.
He took another sip of whiskey.
"Did he say where he was going?" Asked Larry, Preston took a shuddering breath "He said his Son had been taken and that he might found out something in Dimond City" Said Preston weakly.
"He really thinks that his Son is still alive?" Said Ben.
Preston struggled from breath as he nodded.
Ben patted his shoulder "It's okay man get some rest" He said.
Preston died a few hours later.
The trio decided to stay in a different building that night.
"Why did he do it" Asked Larry as he looked at the fire Jenny shook her head "I don't know, maybe he was scared they would go to Sanctuary Hills and find information about what he did, or maybe he just doesn't care and only cares about getting Shaun back and getting some of his normal life back minus Nora" Said Jenny.
Ben shook his head, "You guys were frozen for two hundred plus years, his son could been taken any time, he's other long dead or real old" Said Ben.
Jenny gave a shrugged "I don't think he's thinking long those lines, if he did it might drive him nuts" Said Jenny.
The two Ghouls nodded.
A few days later the trio made their way to Good Neighbour, once there they traded what they had scavenged and made a tidy sum of caps.
Once they rested the trio made their way to Water Street Apartments.
They took care of a number of Raiders, they made their way threw the building.
After a while they came to the locked door to Jenny's Mother's apartment, Jenny sighed deeply and pulled the apartment key out.
The opened with ease, the trio slowly entered the door weapons drawn, the room was empty, Jenny found a few holo tapes.
Jenny places a tape in her pip boy, it began to play.
(Sounds of movement)
(Sounds of breathing)
"It's been almost two years since the bombs fell, two years since the world went to hell, all my hard work to keep my life the way I liked it blown away, (Sarah laughs) All that money earned with accusing my pathetic neighbours of being traitors or being Communists, all for nothing, all that money only good for kindling, the currency now is bottle caps, bottle caps!, god damn soda caps!".
(Sarah laughs again).
Jenny put the second tape in the pip boy.
(Sounds of movement and heavy breathing).
"God I hate this new world, I feel constantly dirty, I've started getting sick, but that could be the fact that all I have to drink is dirty water from the taps and what ever food I can get, I refuse to start eating canned dog food"
(Dry coughing)
"God I hate this"
Jenny put the finale tape and pressed play.
(Sounds of movement)
"My skin started drying out a few months ago, my hair is falling out in great clumps, I have meet other people who look like the walking dead, like me, they tell me that I have to stay with people, they call themselves Ghouls, I knew some of these people back before bombs, I didn't socialise with them before the world went to hell why the hell will I socialise with the scum of the earth now"
(Coughing)
"I still have contacts in the government, they must simply building up their forces, I know they will come for me, they will have Doctors who can treat this thing, it must be a form of radiation poisoning"
(Strange breathing)
"It must be radiation poisoning, I am not become one of those disgusting things, I'm not! I'm not becoming a Ghoul!"
(Strange breathing)
"I just have to stay here, they will come, I know they will"
(Sarah moans in pain)
"They will come! They will come! Aggg"
Jenny blinked and looked at Ben and Larry.
"What the hell was that?" She asks.
"Sounds like she was turning not only in to a Ghoul but turning Feral" Said Ben, Jenny frowned "Feral?".
Ben nodded "It's what happens to Ghouls some sooner then others, a part of the brain decays or gets too badly damaged and we loose all reason become little better then wild animals attack and kill anything and everything except other Ghouls for some reason" Said Ben as he to a drag on his cigarette.
Larry half turned and looked at the bedroom.
"Em guys the door was locked" He said.
Jenny and Ben looked at each other then looked at the bedroom "Shit!" Said Ben as they stood and pulled out their weapons.
They suddenly heard the sound of someone moving around, Jenny swallowed as someone shambled out of the room, Jenny blinked a few times as she saw the shredded remains of what had once been an expensive designer dress.
Standing in the door way stood a emaciated Ghoul, it looked at her with white eyes, then the Ghoul let out a screech as it ran towards her completely ignoring the two Ghouls.
Jenny reacted she opened fire with her 10mm shooting the Ghoul several times in the head, she emptied the clip.
The Ghoul fell to the floor dead, it's head a bloody ruin.
Jenny stared down.
She then knelt down, she saw a bracelet around the Ghouls wrist.
"Mom?, oh God, Mom I'm sorry I'm so sorry" Said Jenny as she removed the bracelet.
"Your Mom died two hundred years ago, that wasn't your Mother, you put her out of her misery" Said Ben as he knelt next to her, he squeezed her shoulder, she looked at him "Is that going to happen to you and Larry?" She asked Ben looked at the body of Sarah he sighed deeply and looked at Jenny he nodded "Yeah sooner or later we'll go Feral, it generally is held off longer if a Ghouls have friends to remind them of themselves, your Mom could have lasted awhile if she had hang out with the others or had just hung out with people, but she didn't she kept her self isolated, it speed up the process" Said Ben.
Jenny mourned the woman her Mother had been, but she knew they could not stay here.
"Can we go back to Good Neighbour for the night?" She asked Ben nodded.
They stayed in Good Neighbour for a few days, during these few days Larry decided to stay in Good Neighbour for awhile, Jenny was saddened by her yellow friends wish to stay, but expected it.
Once Ben and her were stoked up for several days they promised to return with any items they could trade.
After saying good bye to to Good Neighbour, the duo left to explore the Wasteland.
After a few hours Jenny picked up a radio signal, it was coming from Trinity Tower.
As the pair sneaked towards the tower, it wasn't long before they came across the first Super Mutants.
"Damn it!" Growled Ben as he sniped at a Super Mutant, Ben reloaded his sniper rifle, "Why haven't the Mutants killed the moron yet!" Said Ben as Jenny fire her recently required assault rifle, besides her lay her fully loaded combat rifle, Jenny shook her head she took a bit of satisfaction as a particularly well hidden Super Mutant got hit in the head fell forward with a shout his body thumped loudly on the floor.
Jenny and Ben shot and killed several more Super Mutants.
After a seemingly endless amount of time the pair reached the top of the tower, inside was a Human who it seemed had thought it was a good idea to teach the Super Mutants culture.
The Mutants had humoured him, then locked him up with a radio so that he would call other Humans to "rescue" him.
What was if possible even more shocking was the fact that he seemed to have gotten threw to a one Super Mutant who went by the name of Strong, though the Mutant had misinterpreted what the radio actor was trying to teach him, he had latched in to the words "Milk of Human Kindness" and seemed to think that if he found this Milk of Human Kindness and drink for him self, he seemed to think that this was away to get the secret power of Humans and make him and his brothers stronger and make them the true rulers of the wasteland.
Ben could only stare in shock as Strong went on about the Milk of Human Kindness, Ben looked at Jenny "Is he serious?" He asked her Jenny gave a shrug "I think he is, can you imagine how Raiders will react when they see that running at them at full tilt?" She said Ben sighed deeply he looked at the Super Mutant as he tugged at the armour of his dead brothers, "It could be dangerous, he's a Super Mutant, he could rip us both a part with out really trying" He said Jenny smiled at him, "But imagine if we can change one Super Mutant, he's already got the whole idea of compassion we just have convince him that there is no "Milk of Human Kindness" that the secret Human power that he is looking for comes from compassion and not some serum" She said.
Ben sighed again he shook his shaggy haired head he grinned at her.
"Why do I get the feeling that you are going to try and change the Wasteland one race at a time?" He said Jenny gave a shrug and returned the grin.
"Call it my new hobby!" She said as she took Ben by the arm and led him towards the their new towering companion.
