Here is a Oneshot for you that I hope all of you will enjoy. I may make a second chapter showing Adrien's and Marinette's point of view depending on how much time I find but it isn't needed for this story to be complete.
Sorry if any of the characters are a bit OOC, I actually never watched the series and yes, I know I'm pathetic (though, I swear, I'll watch it once I have access to Netflix and the free side of the internet again!).
Summary: Alya ships Adrinette and LadyNoir. Nino ships Ladrien and MariChat. Bets are made, money is traded and in the end, it's our beloved superheroes that truly win.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything other than my laptop (I'm very glad I won my laptop though).
A fairly ordinary bet
It was a fairly ordinary day at Francois Dupont highschool. School was over, hallways were empty and Alya and Nino were once again hiding just outside their classroom from Marinette's and Adrien's view. Mari's pens were scattered all across the floor and they were currently picking them up, one of the furiously blushing and te other one perfectly unaware of it.
Really, it was a fairly ordinary day.
Mari had dropped her pencil case the moment Adrien had shot her that radiant smile that rivaled the sun and Adrien, unaware what hadhappened, had simply seen it as another one of Marinette#s clumsy antics.
And Alya and Nino (or rather only Alya) had taken the opportunity to swiftly leave the room under the pretense of really having to do something (she hadn't even bothere to ellaborate), giving the two of them some alone time.
And now they were cowering in front of the door.
According to Alya, they were merely observing them.
According to Nino, they were stalking.
According to Nino, it was also rather boring. Especially because he wouldn't mind if Alya would spend her time with him a bit different than either hunting for pictures for the Ladyblog or stalking their two best friends. So he decided to strike up a conversation. His girlfriend didn't seem to be all that interested in it, until a rash comment send Nino on a apthway of doom.
„What do you mean, Marinette and Adrien won't get together? As much as I love you, but that's a "no" from me, sweetheart."
Alya seemed to be rather convinced by this. Adrinette and LadyNoir. What was the way it was supposed to be. She knew it and Alya could be stubborn:
Very, very stubborn. And, though Nino knew that, he wasn't going to let this topic go so easily.
„No way, dude. Haven't you seen the pictures? I wouldn't be surprised if Chat and Mari are already dating anyway."
Everyone had seen the pictures. Sometime Chat would randomly show up on MArinette's balcony and the two would talk forever. It was slighlty adorable if it weren't for the fact that Marinette and Cat Noir insisted they were just dating wile, clearly, there was more going on between the two of them.
Alya was of different opinion though.
"As her best friend, I can guarantee you that Marinette is and will always be absolutely smitten with Adrien."
Heck, did Nino not see the scene unfolding directly in front of their eyes?!
"#MariChat all the way, Alya. You know it." "Have you even seen the "sneaky" glances Chat sends Ladybug? No way anything will ever get between that boy and his lady." "Adrien has every single Ladybug merchandise article money can buy. Also, I'm pretty sure he even got some pictures of her not even you have!" "Nino, you do know what Mari's room looks like, right? You have seen the posters, right?"
Finally, finally, Alya turned to her boyfriend, though it was really just to contemplate whether she should break up with him over this disagreement.
No way was he going to tell her he didn't ship Adrinette. Or LadyNoir. No way was he saying he was going against Paris' favorite ship. Or that of their class respectively.
Nino was a dead man, she'd make sure of that.
Nino, however, was convinced he was right. And a bit bored. And right now, very, very stupid.
"You know what, how about we bet?" "We bet?" "We bet. I bet 10 Euros on MariChat and Ladrien each." "10 Euros? You're so going down, Lahiffe."
And that's how they got their little bet started. They were so invested in it, they didn't even notice Adrien's confused expression when he saw his two friends hiding in front of the door. They also missed Marinette's obvious blush as she pushed past them, sputtering something about "helping in the bakery" and sending Alya a death glare.
They, however, didn't miss Adrien's somewhat hurt expression when the bluenette rushed off without giving any explanation whatsoever.
Alya secretly rejoiced. That would be an easy 20 Euros to make.
.o.O.o.
A month. It had been a fairly ordinary month ever since Nino and Alya had decided to make that bet and it had been normal up until that one day Alya decided to give her friend a surprise visit. To show her some new pictures of Ladybug of course. Alya hadn't expected Marinette to be busy with anything other than the designing, after all.
She definitely hadn't expected Marinette to be busy shamelessly kissing Chat Noir.
But there she was, sitting on her bed, making out with one of Paris' beloved superheroes, giving Alya the worst dilemma of her lifetime. This was the scoop of the week. Screw that, of the month. Screw that of the year (even though it meant LadyNoir apparently wasn't happening and neither was Adrinette but Marinette seemed happy, right?). On the other hand...she really didn't want to lose her ten Euros.
Plus, she couldn't implicate her best friend. So at first, Alya did nothing. Then, her reporter side took over, almost automatically, as she still wasn't sure she wasn't just dreaming. She would record it, Alya just half consciously. And then she could decided what to do with the recording. She didn't have to post it after all.
Thus, Alya found herself staring into her best friend's room and filming her wile she was kissing Chat Noir.
Somehow, she felt really bad doing that.
The two of them took their time to separate, though, once they did, they finally, finally, spotted Alya who was still trying to process all of this. This, this...
"OMG, AL...LADYBLOGGER!", Chat Noir exclaimed, not giving the brunette any time to truly understand what exactly this was, as he jerked away, getting to his feet and bringing as much distance between him and Marinette as possible. Alya just stared at him. Then at Marinette who was still sitting on her bed, though now she had drawn her knees to her faces, hoping to keep anyone from seeing the blush spreading on her cheeks, screw it, on her entire body!
It didn't work all that well.
Alya's phone was still out, recording the entire scene. This was, this was…
"Go...gotta go!", Chat all but screeched as he jumped out of the window into the street below.
If any of the girls had looked outside, they would have realized that cats don't always land on their feet.
Adrien could already hear Plagg's chuckling at his less than graceful ladning once he got home.
But that didn't concern the girls right now. Right now they just stared at each other, Marinette furiously blushing and Alya simply gaping.
It was Alya who eventually broke the silence.
"I...I guess I better leave too?", she murmured, slowly letting her phone fall to her side.
Marinette said something which could be interpreted as a "yes", though it was way too high-pitched to be actually interpreted as anything coherent.
It was a surprise Alya could hear it at all.
"Unless you want me to stay?"
Again, high-pitched screeching. Alya interpreted this one as a "No" and slowly left the room again, before sprinting out of the house, barely excusing herself to Mrs. Dupain-Cheng. The woman's questions could wait. For now Alya just tried to get her eye to stop twitching.
Once outside, Alya calmed down a bit. Not much, but a bit. Enough to sort her thoughts and come to some conclusions and stop the screaming in her head about the fact that Marinette had kissed Chat Noir and it didn't look even remotely like an accident, no sir, absolutely not.
She wasn't going to post the video, Alya decided. Not, because she didn't want to lose her bet, but because she felt as if it wasn't her right to do so. This was Marinette's and Chat's life. Not hers. She had a moral compass too strong to just out them like that. Whatever was going on between the two of them was something they should be telling the world, whenever they felt ready to do so.
It didn't meant she wouldn't interrogate her friend about it though. Meeting Chat and not directly telling her was one thing but having some secret affair going on with him was a whole different story.
And it also didn't mean she wouldn't call Nino. She wouldn't lie to him just because of a silly bet. If Marinette was happy, then so would she be, even if that meant her ships wouldn't even get finished being build.
Anxiously, she waited for her boyfriend to pick up the phone and when he did, she cut straight to the point.
"You were right. Those moonlight visits have done wonders to Mari's crush."
"What?"
"They kissed. Chat Noir and Marinette kissed. Screw that, they were making out. In her room. On her bed."
For a second, Nino didn't say a thing. Then she could basically hear him grin on the other side of the line.
"Guess you owe me ten Euros then..."
.o.O.o.
It was a fairly abnormal patrol straight from the start. First of, Chat didn't flirt with Ladybug. Bad news for all the shippers, good news for Marinette. It meant he wasn't just using her as emotional back-up. It meant Chat was actually serious about her and Alya could feel Nino practically glowing next to him. He had been right. He had been so right. The super hero was head over heels in love with Marinette. Maybe Nino would use his newly acquired ten Euros to buy Marinette and Chat some ice cream. They deserved it.
But now was not the time to think about his won bet. No was the time to dodge Akuma attacks because of course, of course!, Alya had dragged him along for some filming.
It was during the attack that Nino noticed Ladybug's unusual behavior. She kept glancing at Chat Noir in a weirdly infatuated way and Nino hoped, he really hoped, she wasn't having second thoughts just because Chat Noir had gotten over her. That wasn't fair. Not to Chat, not to Marinette.
Not to Nino's newly acquired wealth.
But, alas life sucked and was generally unfair. It didn't happen during the Akuma fight, but not much later after. The two super heroes helped the akumatized victim up, gave him some advice and some nice words. Then they left, seemingly discontinuing their patrol after the battle.
The fact that they disappeared in the same direction, despite the furious beeping of both their miraculous, should have ticked them off. The fact that Chat seemed to be very, very confused by this should have told them something was wrong.
The fact that Alya and Nino (obviously his girlfriend had insisted on following them – she had to question Chat Noir about Marinette after all and Marinette had decided to simply ignore her best friend's calls) found the two of them in the middle of the street sould have warned them, after all, why were they still transformed, had they transformed again?
The fact that they were kissing made both of them freeze on the spot.
Until Alya couldn't take it anymore.
"YOU...YOU JERK!"
Chat Noir's head whirled around as he stared at the furious girl standing in front of him and panic crept into his eyes. Laddybug whirled around too, but she just started getting red, the blush somewhat familiar but the journalist to be was way to mad at this point to care.
And Nino had no intentions of doing so either.
"A..Al…?"
He didn't get to finish his sentence.
"How...How dare you?! Mari...She's such a sweet girl!"
Ladybug's blush grew darker.
"How...I swear, this will have consequences, I'm going to ruin you!"
"Alya, no wait I can…!"
But he didn't get to finish his sentence again, as the brunette had already stormed off, dragging Nino along the way.
She didn't even ask for her ten Euros back.
.o.O.o.
It was a very not ordinary Sunday morning. Nino had to call Adrien. He just had to. His best friend had to be heart broken after news broke. Alya and he weren't the only witnesses to the kiss and there were plenty of videos showing the kiss. Heck, the two super heroes hadn't been discreet at all and now all of Paris was celebrating that their ship had finally set sail.
Not Nino though. Chat had broken his friend's heart. And had made him lose his newly acquired ten Euros.
Screw that mangy alley cat. Marinette was nowhere to be found and didn't answer any calls when Alya had tried to comfort her and right now they couldn't do anything else but hope the girl wouldn't do anything stupid.
Marinette wasn't Nino's priority though. Alya had said she'd comfort Marinette and Nino had decided he wouldn't be of any help anyway. And thus decided he'd check up on Adrien.
After unsuccessfully calling his best friend at least five times, Nino decided to simply visit him. So he swallowed his pride (and fear) and approached the looming mansion, hoping he was allowed inside.
To his surprise he was. For whatever reason Nathalie had bought his lazy excuse about some school project. She had tried to ask Adrien at first, but the blonde had just responded with a somewhat weird sounding "Hm, yeah, sure..." before refusing to answer at all.
Nino could already imagine his best friend's tear stained face. He must have seen the video. God, that stupid cat and that stupid Ladybug and…
And when Nino entered Adrien's room, he froze.
Again. He was doing that an awful lot lately.
They weren't kissing. They weren't kissing this time (though the state of their lips told plenty about what had been going on). It was just that Adrien's head was resting on Ladybug's stomach, while she gently massaged his head with one hand (was he purring?!) and used her other hand to hold one of his.
Both of them wore a stupid love struck grin as if this was what they had wanted to do since forever, as if they'd happily die at this exact moment.
Well, Ladybug wore the expression until she processed that someone had just entered the room. Because once she did, her expression turned to one of pure, unaltered horror.
"N-N-N-Nino?!", she all but gasped and Nino had a total amount of two seconds to contemplate why Paris' beloved hero knew his name, before Adrien shot up and all but shouted:
"NINO?!"
The expression on Adrien's face was, just like Ladybug's, utter horror.
"What...What are you doing here?!"
"Have...Haven't you seen the video, dude?!"
"Vi...Video?", Adrien simply stammered:"What...What video?!"
Nino could have sworn he heard Ladybug whisper a "You're such a frigging idiot" under her breath, but he didn't care. All he cared about was that Ladybug was playing two people and one of these people happened to be his best friend and the other one happened to have broken his other friend's heart by getting played.
He was so done at that moment.
"YOU!"
He whirled around and pointed at Ladybug who was now standing next to the couch, looking somewhat guilty.
But not nearly as guilty as she should.
"How, how could you?! How...Argh, you know what? I'm telling Alya. And I swear, whatever you are doing...You'll pay! You'll pay dearly!"
And then he ran out of the room, passing by a mildly astonished Nathalie and out of the building. He ran for some time, fueled by anger and at the same time fear for getting akumatized. It was this fear that made him calm down at some point and realize just what he had done.
He should have stayed with Adrien, Nino realized, making sure Ladybug kept her fingers off of him. But instead he had overreacted and left the poor boy to his demise. Nino knew Adrien was head over heels in love with Ladybug, there was no way he could resist her, regardless of what had happened between her and Chat just yesterday.
He was about to call Alya, but she was faster.
"Nino, have you seen Marinette? Because she texted me but won't pick up the phone and won't tell me where she is and, and, and..."
"Ladybug kissed Adrien."
Silence. Then a "What?"
"Well, they didn't kiss. They just...They were cuddling. And I'm pretty sure they were kissing before that. So yeah. Chat Noir is a player. Ladybug is a player. They are both jerks and I just want them to leave our friends alone."
Again, silence. But then, Alya finally spoke up:
"Oh. Ok. That's….That's weird. You see, Mari just texted me that everything is fine and I shouldn't worry about her and Chat Noir or Ladybug and Chat Noir or Ladybug and Adrien and this is just...She said to wait until Monday. Like, what could that girl even mean?!"
Nino didn't know how to answer that. How had Marinette known about Ladybug and Adrien?
"You know what, screw that. But I guess I owe you ten Euros know, Lahiffe?", his girlfriend eventually said. Nino almost chocked.
"Alya! This is not the…!"
"Don't worry, Nino. I'm sure we're just missing something here. I just can't imagine Chat Noir and Ladybug being such jerks...Let's wait until Monday and see what Adrien and Marinette have to say."
.o.O.o.
It was a fairly abnormal Monday morning at Francois Dupont Highschool: it started off abnormal and got even more abnormal over time.
First off, Marinette was earlier. She wasn't only on time, she was actually early. As in, 20 minutes early.
Whispers were heard, theories were strung and some people even suggested she wasn't Marinette at all and instead just an evil twin.
But well. Nothing to die for, right? Maybe Mari just wanted some time to talk to Alya, but strangely enough she seemed to evade her best friend the entire time.
It got weirder though. Namely when Adrien, yes, Adrien Agreste, the Adrien, Mister oblivious, Mister "No, Marinette is just a friend! Nothing more", walked up to her wit a terribly wide grin that looked somewhat suspicious and greeted her and she didn't melt into a puddle right on the spot!
Instead, she took it well. She blushed, sure, but she responded. Normally. Without stuttering. Without tripping. He simply wished her a "good morning" and she wished him one too. She even asked about his weekend without as much as stumbling over her words.
It was a miracle. Whatever drugs Marinette was taking, they were obviously working.
When she didn't get a heart attack the moment Adrien winked at her (after answering her question with a mysterious "I had some revelations") everyone knew something was going on.
Alya seemed to be especially cheery (for a second she even forgot about all the drama that had been going on during the weekend), because she could already feel her ship setting sail and she really, really wanted her 10 Euro back.
Screw Ladybug if it meant her best friend was happy.
Well, screw Ladybug in general.
When Adrien then decided it would be okay to just randomly kiss Marinette in the middle of the hallway like, what was wrong with this guy and Marinette didn't die on the spot but instead kissed back, everyone decided that whatever they were talking about wasn't all that important in the first place and the hallway fell silent.
This was not happening, this was so not happening, already they could feel the bubbly screeching building up in their throats, already they could...
"Uhmmm...What are you doing?"
Of course Chloé had to ruin the moment. Of course she had to barge in and shove herself between the two of them, of course...
"What I'm doing? Well, I'm kissing my girlfriend."
The moment the word had left Adrien's mouth, the entire school decided that they had had enough and they couldn't hold it in anymore.
Adrien couldn't help but look around confused when every single one of their classmates started cheering and basically throwing a party on the spot.
He was even positive he saw Alix kiss Kim in the moment just because it felt right.
And while Adrien had no clue what was going on, Marinette started blushing furiously and snatched his hand, dragging him away from the celebrating crowd. She was so not having this situation right now.
"I just knew they'd end up together at some point! They just had to! That wedding dress is way too beautiful to go to waste!", one of their classmates chimed enthusiastically.
Wedding dress? What wedding dress? Curious Adrien looked at Marinette, his lady, but upon seeing the blush he decided to drop the topic.
Especially since they could hear faint screams down the hallway and both of them were certain that this was yet another Akuma attack.
.o.O.o.
They weren't supposed to find out, Nino and Alya knew that. Especially not like this. But after getting her 10 Euros back from Nino (they were even at the moment, but she won, right? Adrien and Marinette were dating after all, which meant Ladybug and Chat were out of the picture, right? Jerks. But she'd have to ask her boyfriend later), she had decided to follow her two friends, dragging Nino along. Of course, she knew, Akuma and all and she was supposed to run, get her phone and film the battle, but really, the ladyblog could wait.
She had to know where those two were headed. Plus, if she'd catch them make out with each other, she could rub it under Nino's nose (and Chat's and Ladybug's and tell them that whatever they were doing, the two people whose hearts they had broken were happy).
So they followed them. They saw them go into a closet. They hid close to the door, Alya fully set on confronting the two of them once they left. They waited. They inched closer.
And then they saw Chat Noir and Ladybug leaving the closet together, hand in hand and smiling like two idiots.
It was too much for Alya's brain and she short-circuited.
.o.O.o.
"They were the same people the entire time!"
Alya couldn't help but have a mental breakdown at that. She was back in her classroom, the battle had been short, and stared at her desk. Her best friend was Ladybug. And she was dating Adrien. Who was also Chat. Who was dating Marinette.
"Of course they'd be the same people!", murmurred Nino. He wasn't fairing much better than his girlfriend who at this point was just silently screeching.
"God, how didn't we notice?! I bet Chat and Mari fell in love because of those moonlight visits. They kissed, you interrupted them, she told Chat next patrol, Chat told her his identity and then, then...How could we be this stupid?!"
"THEY EVEN LOOK THE EXACT SAME!"
A few worried glances were shot in Alya's direction, but she was far past the point of caring. Marinette and Adrien still hadn't shown up and no one could possibly know what this was all about anyway.
Her two friends were probably currently making out in some closet.
Jerks. They could have told them. God, this made so much sense of course they'd be the same people, both of them always disappeared during Akuma attacks and their excuses were really, really bad if you thought about it and they even looked the same!
"So, uh, does that mean we're even?", Nino suddenly asked, realizing that there was no reason for im to be mad at anyone anymore and trying to change the topic.
They'd have to have a talk with their friends later on though.
"I...I guess so? They're all dating each other after all. Some way or another."
"Hm..."
Silence. Then:
"Say, Nino?"
"Yes?"
"I'm so goddamn happy for them."
"Me too, Alya, me too."
Here you go ^^ I hope you liked it ^^ I'll try to write a second chapter showing Adrien's and Marinette's point of view, but I'm currently pretty busy, so no promises!
And please leave a review if possible, it means a lot to me!
