When Gibb woke up the next morning, she was dog tired. She barely got a wink of sleep, mostly in part due to the nightmare she suffered from at the police station last night. After brushing her teeth and having breakfast, Gibb did what she normally did before going to school; heading to the basement and hitting the punching bag in the corner. Unlike all the other times she's punched the bag, today she was fuelled by grief and anger, over her boyfriend's death.
Gibb hit the bag, over and over, until she was blinded with rage, and slammed her fists into the bag one last time. Once she calmed down, Gibb looked at her hands, shocked to see they were stained with blood. Her blood. Gibb's eyes began to water, and she started crying, when her father walked in.
"Honey, you can stay home and get some rest if you want." Mr. Smith said. "I can't imagine what you're going through right now."
"No Dad, I need to go to school." Gibb sniffed, and looked at her hands. "I know Trey was an asshole… but why does it hurt so much?"
"I don't know, Gabrielle." Mr Smith murmured to himself. "But are you sure you don't want to get some sleep? You just went through a horrible experience, and I just heard from the police that Blake and his father were also killed last night. Both stabbed."
"I'm sure." Gibb told her father, despite new tears forming. With that, she walked back upstairs, took her backpack, and walked out the door.
By the time she made it to the school grounds, Gibb already had a cigarette in her hand, and searched for her friends. It didn't take too long, Lori and Kia were just outside the front door, and she quickly walked toward them, still shaken from Trey and Blake's deaths.
"Oh my God." Lori gasped, bringing Gibb in for a hug.
"I just found out Blake's dead too." Gibb mumbled. "His dad's gone as well. They were both stabbed to death, late last night."
"Man, this is bullshit!" Kia shouted. "They're saying Blake killed Trey, then his dad, and then killed himself! They're saying it's like that Columbine thing! It's just so fucking messed up!"
The first bell rang, and the three friends quickly walked into the school, preparing to go to their classes, when Gibb noticed two jocks handing out flyers for a rave. She walked over to them, and was quickly handed a flyer of her own, detailing a rave at a cornfield on the outskirts of town.
"Hey, there's a rave tonight!" one of the jocks, named Shack announced. "There's safety in numbers, right?"
"Isn't that dangerous?" Gibb asked. "Three people just died."
"I see what you're saying Gibb, but that's why you should go." Freeburg replied. "I mean, be amongst friends where it's safe, right? There's gonna be a whole lotta lovin 'for you and my boy Trey, alright?"
"Yeah, you're right. I should go. I could use a few dozen drinks right now." Gibb said with disinterest, before Lori and Kia joined her. "You guys wanna go?"
"No, I don't think so." Lori told them. "I didn't get much sleep last night. I had the most terrible nightmares."
"Lori, you had to sleep at a police station." Kia pointed out. "I'd have nightmares too."
"No, this was different!" Lori insisted, as a crowd began to gather around them. "They felt real. There was this man, but more like a monster. They kept calling him Freddy-"
"What did he look like?" Gibb asked, her eyes widening in worry.
"He had a dark brown hat, and his skin was melted." Lori struggled to remember. "He was wearing a red and green sweater, and on his right hand were-"
"Knives for fingers?" Gibb finished. Lori's eyes widened in fear.
"Oh my God. We're having the same dream!" Lori exclaimed.
"That's impossible." Gibb said, even though her voice cracked from the chills down her spine."
"And then I saw these girls, and they were singing this creepy song-"
"One, two, Freddy's coming for you."
Gibb turned around to see a boy with short blonde hair walking towards them. Her eyes widened in horror, specifically remembering said phrase from her dream.
"Three, four, better lock your door." the boy continued. "You know why they sing that? Because that's when he comes for you. In your dreams. You're lucky to be alive."
"Who is he?" Lori asked, going hysterical.
"He's called Freddy Krueger. He was a child murderer." the boy told them. "Our parents killed him, and he took revenge by hunting us in our nightmares. You wanna survive him? Make friends with some coffee."
"Mark! That's enough. You're scaring her."
Everyone turned around to see another boy with short dark hair, walking towards them. Lori's eyes widened in complete shock, as the person who spoke was her boyfriend, Will Rollins.
"Will?" Lori gasped, before fainting from the shock.
"Jesus!" Gibb swore, and she, Kia, and Will rushed forward to help her. While Kia called out for a nurse, Will and Mark slipped away, seeing two police officers walking down the hall.
Gibb and Kia patiently waited in the nurse's office, hoping that Lori would wake up. After everything that's happened, what with the deaths of her boyfriend and friend, it's a wonder how Smith hasn't gone into shock herself.
"How long is this going to take?" Kia asked impatiently, earning a shrug from the nurse. Frustrated, Kia sat down and began flipping through the magazines there, but soon fell asleep. Gibb thought about waking her, but then again, she needed to rest herself.
Just as Gibb began to doze off, she heard Kia make some gurgling noises, and turned to face her. Her eyes widened with fear, not because of her friend screaming, but because her nose was completely cut off, and was gushing blood. In addition to the gory wound, her face was covered in slash marks, and her throat was slashed.
"Holy shit!" Gibb shouted, looking towards the nurse. "Somebody help!"
This time, the nurse did rush in to help the teenager, but it was too late; Kia was slowly dying from blood loss.
"What happened?" Gibb asked, as she tried to stifle the wound.
"It was that burned guy with the hat and finger knives…" Kia wheezed out. "Just like you said…"
Gibb stood up, horrified, and ran out the nurse's office. As the bell rang, she pushed past other students heading to their next class, and left school. Gibb had no idea what was going on, but she knew for sure that she needed some space to herself before the rave that night.
