Dear Diary,
Today was the first trip to Hogsmeade. I was super excited; Victoire and Dominique said all sorts of great things about it, and now that I'm a third year, I was thrilled to finally get the chance! It was definitely exciting, but it could have gone better. Namely, I could have not humiliated myself in front of Emma Milligan. I've fancied her since first year, and I've done a terrible job of impressing her, but today was downright humiliating.
I was walking into Zonko's with James, who was rambling on and on about how excited he is to beat Slytherin in the first Quidditch match of the season, when I saw Emma in there chatting with Molly. Since Molly's my cousin and all, I said hi, and Emma noticed us. She said hi to me and James-mostly to James, I think. It's always James. I said hi anyway, and she turned back to chatting with Molly.
Then, James pointed out the trick quills that squirt ink at people. I said no thanks, I was only in there to get some invisible ink, and James went to go buy some. I saw a couple of fireworks, and even though they're never as good as the ones from Uncle Ron and Uncle George's shop, I figured I'd get one. Then, while I was holding the firework, Emma smiled at me, and next thing I knew it had set off and exploded the box of quills James was holding, getting ink all over me.
So that was fun.
The Shrieking Shack was pretty cool, and I got some good candy from Honeyduke's, but I still can't forget Emma laughing after the ink spilled on me. Sure, James and Molly laughed too, but they laugh at me all the time. And yeah, maybe it was kind of funny, but still... Emma will never like me now.
Anyway, better go do some of that homework.
Sincerely,
Louis Weasley
