Chapter Two
What do you get when you cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash? You get what you fucking deserve.
"HAHAhaHAhaha." Laughter filled Jack's cell as he bent over in pain. He limped over to his cell door grabbing a hold of the metal crusted bars that kept him locked away from civilization. He watched as his fellow inmates went wild. The hallways were filled with nurses and guards forcing inmates into the deepest corner of their cells. "Get Back. Back" a guard screeched. Jack watched as inmates were being sedated and beaten with night sticks. Jack fell to the floor as his laughter continued to fill his cell. He covered his mouth to silence himself but, it only grew louder. His cell door rattled open with two guards towering over him. They grabbed Jack by his arms and threw him onto the bed. One guard held him down while the other strapped his arms and legs down to his bed post. Jack tugged and yanked at the restraints only to fail miserably. He redeemed himself helpless and eventually stopped fighting. A nurse soon walked in and provided Jack with a sedative. A warm and tingly sensation was sent through Jack's body. He felt numb to any pain and his eyes grew low. His words turned into incomprehensible noises and he was induced into a deep slumber. The lights switched off and Jack was sentenced into an eternal void of darkness.
Goodnight Jack. Sweet Dreams.
Next Morning
Good morning Jack. It's time to get up.
Jack groaned in frustration as he was awoken by the horrific screeching on his former nurse. He opened his eyes to be temporarily blinded by the extremely bright lights. He adjusted himself to the light before lifting his head only to be pushed back down. His eyes frantically searched around the room to find himself strapped down to his bed post.
"What the hell" he mumbled to himself. He tugged at the restraints only to once again be redeemed helpless.
"There is no use. You were sedated last night. The feeling in your arms and legs won't be back for a few hours" his nurse informed him. A smile crept its way onto her face before her laughter filled the hallway. Jack's cell door rattled open where his nurse quietly stood. She watched as Jack laid strapped down to his bed. "You're not so big now. Are you?" she teased him. She slowly made her way over to his bed unstrapping his arms and legs. She grabbed his three blue pills and shoved them down his throat. She sat him at the edge of his bed as she retrieved his strait jacket from the small tray that laid on the opposite side of his cell. She strapped him into his strait jacket and gathered her belongings before leaving his cell. She quietly stood outside his cell door as she watched him dazed and confused. The man everyone considered to be a monster was now a helpless nobody.
A few hours later
"Alright Jack, It's time for your appointment." His nurse screeched out for him. His cell door slid open as his nurse walked in with two guards following behind her. His head was low, and his eyes were dazed. He was lifted off his bed and dragged from his room. His eyes stayed focused on the floor as the guards dragged his helpless body down the long and narrow hallway. Jack was thrown into a chair and left to himself. He watched as the guards stood outside the door. Their snicker and giggles filled his ears and he grew irritable.
Don't laugh at me. Don't laugh at me.
The conference door pushed open and there stood Dr. Harleen Quinzel. However, there was something different about her. Something was off. Where are her glasses? He thought to himself. He shook off the thought and admired the beauty that sat across from him.
"Good morning Jack. How are you holding up? I heard about last night "she questioned.
"You're not wearing your glasses." He stated, ignoring her question.
"No, I'm not. Thank you for noticing. Now H- "she was interrupted.
"Is there any reason why? Do you have a hot date? "he questioned. A feeling of jealousy washed over him. He had no idea of her daytime activities outside of this job but, the thought of another man making her happy enraged him.
"No, I do not have a date. I would really like if we could get back to business. Now- "she was interrupted yet again.
"Who is he? Is he rich? Is he a detective? You look like you have a thing for detectives." He bombarded her with questions.
"That is none of your business and we're not here to talk about my personal life. Now, how are you holding up?" she questioned.
"You know he's not your type." He stated
"Excuse me?" she questioned
"He's not your type. You don't want a good guy. No, you'd rather have someone filled with darkness. Someone who lives for darkness. Someone like me" he explained.
"Excuse me. Please do not assume you know the first thing about me." She stated. Frustration laced in her voice
"But I know all there is to know about you. "he stated without the slightest form of hesitation.
"What could you possibly know about me?" she questioned.
"I know you were abused as a child. I know that you have daddy issues and I also know that there is a darkness that lurks inside of you. "he explained. "You've always seeked acceptance from a male figure sometimes female. You just want to be accepted by society. "he continued.
"Let's analyze you, shall we? You grew up in a home where all you knew was abuse. You seek acceptance but all you ever knew was rejection. You smile because it helps hide all the pain you keep inside. Your mother could never protect you from the monster that lurked inside your closet every night. So, now you relinquish all your anger on the world. If you can't be happy then nobody can. Am I close? "she questioned.
" . HAhaHAHA" he erupted into a fit of laughter.
"What's so funny? "she questioned. A sense of weary washed over her.
"N-Nothing I'm sorry. "he apologized. "Actually, I have a joke if you would like to hear it. "he continued.
"What's your joke Jack?" she questioned.
"My previous therapist used to tell me time heals all wounds. So, I stabbed him and now we wait" he answered. The room fell in a silence until, "HAHAhaHAhaha" he erupted into a fit of laughter.
"You think that's funny? "she questioned.
"Oh no puddin. I know its funny" he answered, as his laughs continued to fill the room.
"Your fucking insane." She spat at him. She gathered her files and rose from her chair.
"Am I truly insane? "he questioned. She bolted for the door. She watched as he fell to the floor. His laughter growing louder by the minute. Her eyes were filled with terror. How could a monster be so beautiful? "You want to hear another joke? "he questioned.
"No, I don't want to hear another joke. I am leaving. We are done for the day. "She stated reaching for the door.
"What do you get when you cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash? You get what you fucking deserve. "he answered before erupting into another fit of laughter. She slid open the door and bolted down the hallway. The sound of Jack's laugh filling her ears.
I'll see you tomorrow puddin
