"Azura and I are not from Remnant."
Nila and Lloyd gave me looks of confusion as the headmaster's office fell into a deafening silence, the only noise to be heard coming from the gears moving. Then the sniper broke the silence.
"I knew all those hits to his head gave him brain damage."
"He's telling the truth!" Azura snapped, "We're from a planet like Remnant called Earth, just with fewer monsters and more people."
"This… This is all just one big joke… Right?" Nila stammered. "There's… There's just no way that's possible..."
I shook my head in response. Nila and Lloyd stared at each other, unable to believe what we were telling them. It was understandable. If one day on Earth I had met someone who claimed to be from another planet I would refuse to believe them. At least with Ozpin and Glynda present there was more of a chance of them believing us.
"How are we supposed to believe something like that!?" Lloyd shouted. "Do you not realize how crazy this all sounds!?"
"I know how difficult it is to grasp what they are saying," Ozpin said, rising from his chair, "But I can assure you that what they are saying is the truth."
Lloyd stopped speaking and took a deep breath, regaining some of his composure.
"Let's say we do believe you, how did you get here?"
The memories of the events that led to us being transported to Remnant flooded my mind. Gray, Hunter, the hike, the cave, the forest, all of it.
"A few months ago Azura and I went on a hike with a couple of our friends," I began, "Halfway through the hike we found a cave and both of us went in to explore it. When we got to the end we found this glowing white rock. When I grabbed it the cave started to collapse. The next thing we knew we woke up in a forest, and then..."
I froze, the memory of the Ursa's attack ran through my head again. My hand started shaking and my heart started racing, just like it was when Nila and I encountered the Ursa Major. I remembered the Grimm's growl, I remembered pain, I remembered blood, I remember the Grimm getting ready to strike down Azura.
I remembered fear.
I felt someone grab my shaking hand, snapping me out of my memories. The only thing I saw was Azura's worried face staring at me.
"You don't need to say anymore." She said softly. Azura then turned to our partners. "We were attacked by an Ursa before we were found. Ash was hurt pretty bad. One of the teams from the school found us and we were brought here."
Lloyd's expression hadn't changed, but Nila looked as though she had come to some sort of realization, maybe connecting what had happened during our encounter with the Ursa to what Azura had said. Lloyd then shifted his gaze to Ozpin.
"I can call for the team that rescued them to testify to you," Ozpin suggested, "If you're still not satisfied with what they've told you, that is."
Lloyd's then looked back to me and then to the city, visible from the windows of Ozpin's office. The boy closed his eyes and took a deep breath, opening his eyes again as he exhaled. He then looked to Azura and I.
"The Headmaster says your telling the truth, so I believe you."
It felt as if a huge weight came off of my shoulders as Lloyd said those words. I looked to Nila, who smiled and nodded.
"I do too."
With that, I let out a huge sigh of relief. As ridiculous as what Azura and I told them was, Lloyd and Nila believed us. During the few months that Azura and I had been here, it hadn't occurred to me that when we would start attending Beacon we would need to tell our teammates that we were from a different world, but it was better we told them. However, there was still one thing we hadn't told them.
Summer hadn't said anything since the night before and I hadn't tried talking to her. She was probably taking the backseat so I could concentrate on what was going on in the forest, but now was the time to start talking again. Now was an important time to talk. Ozpin said if we kept secrets from each other then the team couldn't act as a team, so they had to know about Summer.
Summer I'm going to tell them-
It's better if we don't.
The way Summer sternly told me to keep quiet startled me. I was expecting her to tell me to do so based on what Ozpin said, but this was a complete one-eighty. I looked to Ozpin to see if he would give me any indication to tell them.
"You're free to go now," the Headmaster said, "You and your friends have earned cause for celebration. Just keep what was said here between us. No one outside of this room may know."
I was surprised. Ozpin was the one who said we shouldn't keep secrets from each other, yet he did not bring up Summer being in my head. Instead of trying to press the issue any further I remained silent.
"Well, why don't we go find the others?" Nila said, "I'm sure they'll be waiting for us somewhere."
Lloyd, Azura and I agreed and started for the elevator.
"Oh, and Mr. Krieger," Ozpin said. I turned around to face the Headmaster. "Congratulations on becoming a team leader, I know the position will suit you."
"Thank you, Professor." I replied. I was about to turn back around when I remembered the woman we encountered in the forest. "Professor I actually have a question."
"Go ahead."
"There was a woman we encountered in the forest wearing a grey cloak, do you have any idea who she is?"
Ozpin's demeanor turned to curiosity as a result of my question. I thought I saw the Headmasters hand clench slightly around the top of his cane.
"Did she say anything?"
I was about to tell him what she told me before stopping myself, remembering her words loud and clear.
Just don't trust Ozpin or his group.
"No Professor, she didn't say or do anything."
The Headmaster said nothing for a moment, looking as though he was thinking, before walking back to his chair.
"Well, you shouldn't keep your friends waiting any longer now. Go celebrate your achievements, just not too hard."
I turned back around and entered the elevator with my team, the doors closing behind me.
At first the elevator ride down was awkward, not that there was any reason for it to be awkward or anything. No one was saying a word to each other, Nila and Lloyd were still trying to process what they had been told, and Azura's uneasiness about the entire situation wasn't helping.
"So..." Nila said, breaking the silence, "Since you two are from another planet, does that mean you two are aliens?"
"Technically I guess, but we're still human." I replied.
"You're not gonna probe us, are you?" Lloyd joked, a small chuckle escaping his mouth as he spoke and causing a small amount of laughter from between the four of us. The elevator doors opened and we walked out to meet teams RWBY and JNPR, a semblance of normality taking hold of us as we continued to laugh and joke with each other.
