Chapter 13, What's Going On?

Bell's POV :

As I was running back to help and make sure Max was alright, I watched in a daze as he simply killed one of the irregular minotaurs with such ease. The other minotaurs were startled to see their comrade that had the advantage was suddenly slain, but they quickly snapped out of it and put their guard up.

As they charged together for another attack, I too snapped back to reality and tried to help.

"Fire bo-" I started to say but then was cut off as to my amazement, Max who should've been a new adventurer suddenly moved with extreme speed. Before I knew it and probably the minotaurs as well, Max was right in there face about to slash them but then the other minotaur parried the attack and countered.

Max was sent flying back into the wall and fell down to a kneeling position.

I saw him still looking at the ground with a slightly confused look? I heard him say monotonely, "Making calculations, adjusting, adjusting... adjustment completed, re-engaging"

After what seemed like a few seconds he charged the minotaurs again, the exact same way he did earlier and as the other minotaur went to parry him again he sped up, slid under the first minotaurs legs that he was charging before and slashed the other minotaur's arm that wielded the sword.

"RWAAARRRR!" The minotaur cried out in pain as it's arm fell to the ground. As soon as the sword fell sticking upwards in the ground, Max without hesitating picked it up and retreated a little back to where I was.

Surprised, I yelped, "Gyah!?" As I was lost in thought watching this battle, I didn't notice that Lily who made it back here also reacted in a similar way.

Max looked at me and said, "Due to using "Unique Skill : Limit Break", my combat potential has decreased temporarily but will approximately run out soon. I request assistance, please".

I jumped and suttered as I replied as I was still in a daze, "y-yes!" And then charged the minoraur missing an arm (AN : I see how it is, making me do all the hard work. Jk) casting fire bolt at it to create a explosion and block its view to get behind it to strike. As I was doing so, Lily was providing support from afar and Max also charged the other minotaur, so far, it seemed like we were going to gain the advantage.

"Hyah!" As I delivered the finishing blow against the injured minotaur and it turned to ash, I looked over to see how Max was doing. So far, he was doing pretty well evading most of the minotaur's attack and prioritizing his health over damage. Out of nowhere though, as Max evaded one of the minotaur's attack, it suddenly slammed Max with his forearm sending him into the wall.

"Max!" Lily and I cried out. Without wasting time, it proceeded to raise the broadsword in its hand to deliver the final blow when out of nowhere, something flew past us.

"Gaw?!" The minotaur reacted as it started coughing up blood and looked down at its chest.

"Bet you forget and didn't expect me! Did ya?" Said a certain sword.

"W-what?!" Lily cried out in surprise. Out of nowhere, Festus came flying and impaled the minotaur right in its core, killing it and it turned to ashes.

"Phew! Great work everyone!" Festus said cheerfully as he floated around.

"What was that? Why can you float? More importantly, what just happened with Max?" Lily said as she bombarded Festus with questions.

"Uh, ah..." Festus started,

"! Max!" I cried out realizing his state as he collapsed, his arm changing back to normal.

Lily ran over as I supported him up, "he appears to be unconscious, I can only do first aid on him currently so we'll have to go back out to finish treatment of his wounds."

As Festus flew over, she turned to face him and said, "and don't think we forgot what happened. I'll hear your story with him after he wakes up".

"Y-yes" Festus replied.

After healing Max to the best of our abilities, we started to head out of the dungeon, but we didn't notice that someone or something was watching us the whole time.

??? : "Well well well, looks like someone interesting showed up" the mysterious person said after he finished watching them through a orb.

??? : "looks like things will get a lot more interesting from now on".

Author Note: Hey guys! It's MinoMax once again! Sorry for being extremely late with this new chapter. I'm also sorry for making this chapter what might seem to be a tad bit short but I wanted to get a new chapter out for you guys to read and enjoy (I hope). In the future, I'll do my best to release more chapters at a more constant rate. Speaking of that, I was going to ask for your opinion if I should try to post more often but have them not as long or should I try to make chapters longer but post a little bit less often (I'll try my best to keep up but procrastination and laziness can be a pain).
