Just a quick little snippet hope you enjoy!
32-Mustache
"I'm at a loss here, guys," Kiko groaned as she held out her phone to the two women sitting across from her. "It's awful and I have no idea what I can do about it." She dropped her head into her free hand that was propped by her elbow on the table.
Mai tried to give a sympathetic smile while the priestess pursed her lips and pointed at the picture. "Is there a before picture?" she asked, earning a nod from the girl.
"Swipe left."
Ayako obeyed and nodded her head side to side. "This is pretty bad, I'm not sure if it was worse before or after." She took a sip of her coffee. "Although, I'm impressed that Yasuhara was able to grow a beard like that."
"He's right handed, isn't he?" Mai asked earning a look from the priestess. "He separated his right shoulder on that case two months ago, if he's right handed he probably couldn't shave."
"Which is why he let it grow out," Kiko admitted, letting her arm and phone drop to the table. "But now that his shoulder is healed, he said he was going to clean up his face. I thought it meant shave it all off, not leave a mustache!"
"It's definitely not his best look," Ayako agreed, resting her cheek in her hand. "If you're going to do that you may as well go with a fancy goatee or something."
"He looks like a creep and it feels so weird to kiss him, what do I do?"
"Have you tried telling him what you think?" Mai asked with a shrug. The woman across from her rolled her eyes.
"He said he thinks it makes him look distinguished."
"About as distinguished as a pedophile," Ayako returned earning a gasp from the brunette next to her.
"Ayako!"
"What? Kiko's right he looks like a creep. Can you imagine Naru walking out of the bathroom one morning with that caterpillar on his lip?"
Mai made a face as she tried to picture the scene. Naru's ever serious face with a dancing caterpillar on his lip as he spoke. The thought made her burst into laughter. "See?"
"No, no," she said between breaths. "The problem is, Naru could never grow a beard like that in general no matter how long he were to let it grow out. So his mustache would look more like pubescent fuzz!"
Ayako let out a laugh. "That's not surprising actually."
"Guys! What do I do?"
Mai turned to Ayako and shrugged. "What would you do if Monk decided he wanted to strut around with that on his face?"
"He'd never get the chance," she said confidently. "One he would never even attempt it and two he knows that if he were to try, I would shave it off in his sleep."
"Ayako! I can't do that!" Kiko exclaimed, earning another laugh from the bobbed brunette. "Mai, what about you?"
"I'd probably tell him that he looks ridiculous, especially since it would be patchy," she said laughing. "Other than that, probably withhold kisses and other stuff until he shaves."
"Other stuff, huh?" Ayako smirked. "If it weren't for the fact that you two have children that look like both of you, I really wouldn't be sure if Naru had urges of that variety."
Appalled, Kiko's jaw dropped as her wide eyes darted between the two women.
But Mai only shrugged. "I won't lie, at one point I thought he was too in love with himself to feel them for anything other than a mirror. Then I thought that maybe he was asexual."
The three women were sent into fits of laughter. "Yeesh, and you three started without me," came a familiar voice. The three heads turned to see a rather elegant looking woman whose black hair was tied up in a neat bun with two chopsticks and wore an elegant, yet casual, teal blue wrap around dress that was reminiscent to the kimonos she wore in her youth.
"Masako! You made it!" Mai cheered, patting down the spot across the table from her and next to Kiko. "You haven't missed much, I thought you couldn't come."
"I don't have a lot of time, but I was curious as to what Kiko's crisis was." Masako took the vacant seat as Mai and Ayako sent themselves into another laughing fit. Kiko could only put her head in her hand as she unlocked her phone with the other to show the newcomer her predicament.
Masako took the device and scanned the first photo and then the second. She put the phone down and let out a breath. "I'm going to need some tea to deal with this one, I'll be right back."
"You know it's bad when Masako goes for coffee shop tea," Ayako commented with a smirk. She flipped her hair over her shoulder with left hand before resting her chin on it. "Oddly enough, I've kinda missed the pampered brat."
Kiko rolled her eyes. "I don't think you can really call her that anymore," she said, taking a sip of her coffee.
"Come on, it's been pretty fitting since we met her."
"It's also very fitting for someone else at this table," Mai chimed in, biting into her chocolate croissant.
"Wonder who that could be."
"At least I wasn't the worst of us," Ayako reluctantly agreed with a pout, causing the girls to laugh as the medium came back to the table. "Alright so what would you do?"
"If I were Kiko?" Masako asked taking a sip of her tea and trying to hide the slight face she made at the taste of it. "Probably just tell him what you think-"
"He thinks it's a distinguished look," the blue eyed brunette countered with a look.
"What would you do if you were Ayako?" Mai asked, curiosity in her eyes.
"Ayako would probably shave it off for him while he was asleep."
"And Mai?" Ayako asked, the same curiosity sparkled in her eyes.
"Hmm…" The medium tapped the tabletop with her index finger in thought. "Probably be annoyed and ignore him until he realizes he won't get a rise out of you."
"I think I'd call that a three for three," Mai commented shrugging a look to the priestess.
"Yeah, but she never answered what she would do," the redhead replied, leaning back in her chair.
"I just want that squirrel tail off of his lip," Kiko groaned her head in her hands.
"Have you thought about getting your kids opinions?" the medium asked crossing her arms. "Children are brutally honest and I'm sure if you get the group of them together in front of Yasuhara they'll tell him he looks ridiculous."
The three women shared a look of thought. "There really is nothing like getting made fun of by someone less than half of your height. And they don't usually lie about things like that," Ayako said tilting her head to the side. "It's not a bad plan, really."
"Mine usually aren't," the medium replied smugly.
"Settled," Kiko decided lifting her head up. "Playdate at my place, this Saturday, I'll make sure Yasu is there. Make sure the kids will tell him what they really think."
"What gave you the idea to ask kids?" Mai asked with a raised brow. "That was the last thing I thought you would recommend."
"I was actually just at John's church," she answered, taking another sip while holding a hand up. "Before you ask, I was there to see Monk's sister, Hoshiko. She just landed the role of a medium on a new drama and wanted input from a reliable source."
"Don't tell me, this show is supposed to be based on your life?" the priestess guessed, rolling her eyes.
"Oh please, like I would give anyone the rights to do that." The medium waved off the notion. "It's bad enough that being publically famous for so much of my childhood led many aspects of what I do to be questioned and misconstrued. Why would I allow some company to corrupt my life further to make a profit?"
The three women shared a look. "Fair enough."
Alright guys, this one isn't my best but it was kind of fun to write. Just wanted to get something posted so I feel somewhat productive during this quarantine. Stay safe and healthy everyone! Wash your hands and try to stay away from the elderly and anyone who has a compromised immune system. This will pass, no need to buy out all the toilet paper and hand sanitizer, grocery stores will be the absolute last thing to be closed. If you feel some cabin fever just go for a walk it's not going to be that bad. Make sure your liquor cabinet is fully stocked there's no way we can get through this sober! lol jk.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed and hopefully we shall see another chapter of this and of Dangerous Souls in the near future!
Have a Corona for me! (make sure it's light so your symptoms are light) XD
