A/N: There is some smut ahead. Translations and a more detailed author's note are at the end of the chapter.

At five till Rogue slipped into the hanger that housed the blackbird, and found an irate Scott waiting for her.

"You're late," he snapped at her when she deposited her duffel bag at his feet.

"Sorry. Unlike some people I have a roommate who decided to watch the Night Fright Movie Marathon before falling asleep," she paused here and checked her watch before adding, "seven minutes ago."

"Oh," Scott mumbled before bending down to grab her bag and heading up the stairs and into the jet.

With a shake of her head and roll of her eyes Rogue followed quickly behind him. She watched as he stored her bag in one of the cargo holds before making his way up to the cockpit and sitting in the pilot's seat.

"Are you coming up here or what?" Scott asked when he noticed that she still hadn't moved from where she was standing.

"Oh sorry. Guess I'm not use to…" she trailed off here and quickly sat down and buckled herself in.

"Not use to flying shotgun?" Scott asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah," she mumbled.

"Is it because of what happened with Striker?"

"Yes."

"I know you won't believe me, but you did an amazing job flying the jet that day given the circumstances."

"I crashed it." Rogue pointed out dryly.

"Yeah and I broke the landing gear on the first plane I ever flew. Hell even Hank crashed the first plane he flew." Scott told her quietly as he watched the tennis courts rolling back to reveal the night sky.

"Thanks," Rogue said quietly as the jet began to rise into the air.

"Don't mention it." Scott said with a smile.

~A New Kind of Mutant~

Two weeks later

Rogue was stretched out on her bed in the hotel room writing a research paper on the biology of the mutant gene, when Scott returned from tracking down a new lead.

"How'd it go," she asked without looking up from her work.

"I think we might have actually hit a break with this one," Scott said as he flopped down on the end of her bed.

"Your bed's over there," Rogue said with a pointed look at the other queen bed by the window.

"Yours is closer to the door," was Scott's snarky reply.

"Whatever," she said with a roll of her eyes before asking. "Why do you think we've finally hit a break?"

"One of my contacts has directed me to the Dunkel Engle, it's a locally owned club in a sketchy part of the city, but the owner, a guy by the name of Sliver, is supposed to know where we can find the Gypsy camp as well as Lorna, Wanda, and Pietro."

"Great!" she exclaimed before asking, "When are we going?"

"I've asked my contact to set up a meeting for tonight, but we've got to wait until I hear back from him."

"Got it."

"When do you have to be back for exams?"

"I don't. I'm taking my final course right now which focuses on the research .portion of my field of study, so as long as I can get to a post office we can stay for however long we need to."

"Kay," Scott said sleepily, which caused Rogue to look at him for the first time since he had entered the suite. With a smile she noticed that his eyes were closed behind his glasses.

As she watched him a thought came to her, with an evil smile she grabbed one of the pillows from her bed and flung it as hard as she could at his face. Her mouth dropped open when one of his hands shot up and snatched the pillow out of the air before it had a chance to hit him in the face.

"Thanks," he said with a smile as he tucked the pillow under his head before grabbing one of her sock clad feet and began to massage it.

After a few minutes Scott reached up and pulled Rogue down so that she was laying with her head resting on his chest.

"You know I'm supposed to be writing a research paper." Rogue said as she burrowed closer to him.

"You needed a break," Scott replied just before they both drifted off to sleep.

~A New Kind of Mutant~

It was about two hours later when Scott's phone rang. "Hello," Scott asked in a voice heavy with sleep.

"My friend," the Irish accented voice said by way of greeting before adding, "Silver has agreed to meet with you and your friend tonight at eleven. If you have any trouble getting in just tell'em that Cassidy sent you."

"Thanks Cas, you're a life saver," Scott said as he hung up.

"Marie," Scott said quietly as he nudged the sleeping girl.

"What," Marie mumbled sleepily.

"We're meeting Silver at eleven."

"Where?" Marie asked, fully awake now.

"At the club he owns." Scott said as he stretched his aching back muscles, before sitting up and glancing at the clock on the bedside table. "We've got four hours before we need to leave."

"Great that means I can sleep for another hour," Rogue mumbled as she rolled over on to her side and fell back asleep.

~A New Kind of Mutant~

At a quarter till eleven that evening Rogue and Scott stood in the line outside Dunkel Engle. The bouncer checking id, was a pudgy man in his early fifty's with a touch of blonde hair that was slicked back. He wasn't the type of person you tried to bribe your way past, which they had learned when three girls tried to bribe their way into the club. The bouncer had told them, in no uncertain terms that if they ever tried to bride their way into the club again he would make certain that they were never allowed to set foot in the Dunkel Engle.

As they stood in the long line Rogue found herself leaning against Scott's broad chest. After several minutes Scott whispered, "It shouldn't be much longer."

"What did your friend say to tell'em?"

"That he sent us, but only if they give us any trouble." Scott answered.

"And that'll work?"

"It should," Scott replied quietly, his hot breath ghosting over her ear in a way that made her shiver despite the warm night air. "You cold," he asked her absentmindedly as he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her against him.

"Mhmm," she mumbled as she laid her head on his chest and listened to the rhythmic beating of his heart.

It took them another ten minutes to reach the front entrance.

"Id," the pudgy bouncer said as he held out his hand and waited for them to hand over their id. After scanning both of their ids he turned to a woman standing just inside the door and said, "Scarlet let Mr. Silver know that his guests have arrived."

"Yes, sir."

Turning his attention back to them the bouncer handed them back their ids and said, "It'll just be a moment."

Scott nodded as he took back his and Rogue's ids.

"You'll need to wear these too," he stated as he handed them each a sliver bracelet with Dunkel Engle engraved on it.

"Thank you," Rogue said as she took one of the bracelets and slipped it on to her right wrist as Scott did the same. The bouncer simply looked at her gave her a small smile and a nod. Scarlet, the woman who had gone to tell Mr. Silver that they were there, chose that moment to reappear.

"I'll take them to his booth," she said with a smile. "Oh and Frank, he says to let Vic take over the front for the rest of the night." She added just before she turned to lead the way to Mr. Silver's booth.

As Scarlet led the way through the club to where Mr. Sliver was waiting for them Rogue took in Scarlet's attire. She was wearing a one shoulder red dress that faded to black at the bottom, a pair of black high heeled pumps, an open gold bangle and an antique gold locket were the only pieces of jewelry that accompanied her attire, and her auburn hair was pulled back off of her face in a (as far as Rogue could tell) perfect ponytail.

She looks so sophisticated. Rogue thought to herself as she noticed the way Scott was gazing at Scarlet. Why did I wear this again? She silently berated herself.

"At the time you were going for practical not sophisticated," was the reply she received from the voice of a very smug sounding Mystique. "Even I could have told you that a sleeveless red shirt, black shorts, and a pair of black flats would never entice Scott to give you the type of attention that you've been craving from him since your birthday."

"I didn't say anything about wanting Scott to pay me that type of attention! And who the hell asked you?" Rogue snapped.

"Sweetie, you didn't have to say anything; I live in your head, remember?" Mystique replied with a crude laugh before disappearing back to whatever cold dark corner of Rogue's mind she had crawled out of.

"Rogue," Scott said quietly drawing her back to reality.

"What?"

"Are you alright," he asked as he stared at her.

"Never better," she muttered as she realized that both Scarlet and Scott were looking at her rather strangely. "What?"

"Never mind," Scott sighed as he met Scarlet's cornflower blue gaze over Rogue's head.

"I was just saying that you both look absolutely stunning compared to the normal rift-raft that Silver usually meets with." Scarlet explained as she led them to a booth directly behind the dance floor.

There were two people already sitting at the booth. The first a young woman in a simple flowing white dress that was embellished with a beaded pattern of flowers, a simple sliver and diamond chain necklace drew the viewer's eye to the plunging neckline of her dress, her light green hair was pulled away from her face in a side bun reveling sparkling dark green eyes that resembled emeralds and told a story of pain and suffering.

The other a young man, whom Rogue assumed was Silver. He was wearing a gray button up which paired with gray slacks, his silver hair looked wind swept, and on his right wrist he wore a black leather long clasp silver bracelet with an X inside of a circle engraved on the clasp.

As they reached the booth the latter of the two glanced up and graced them both with a blinding white smile.

"You must be Cas' friends. Scott and Rogue, correct?" He asked as they exchanged greetings.

"Yes, and you must be Mr. Silver," Rogue replied with a dazzling smile of her own plastered on her face.

"Just Sliver mademoiselle," Sliver said as he brought the back of her hand to his lips and placed a kiss on it. "Sit, sit," he said as he motioned for Scott to sit next to his companion before helping Rogue to her seat. He then turned to Scarlet wrapped his right arm around her waist and whispered, "Darling, why don't you join us?"

"I have work to do Sliver, but I'm sure you'll fill me in on whatever it is your guests want later." Scarlet whispered back before removing his arm from her waist and turning to Scott and Rogue. "Can I get either of you a drink?" She asked looking at Scott.

"A Moscow Mule." Scott said.

"And for you?"

"Malibu sunset." Rogue replied.

"Coming right up." Scarlet said as she headed back the way they had just come.

"Now shall we get down to business," Sliver asked.

"Sliver," the woman sitting next to him said quietly.

"How rude of me!" Sliver exclaimed as he turned to his companion. "This," he began as he turned his piercing blue gaze back to Rogue and Scott, "is my sister Malie and of course you've already meant my other sister Scarlet." Sliver said just as Scarlet reappeared with their drinks.

"Now on to business," Sliver said with a smile.

Scott took a swig of his drink before beginning, "We're looking for someone."

"You're going to have to give me a bit more to go on if you want my help." Sliver said as he raised his own glass to his lips and took a sip of his Old Fashioned.

"Lorna Dane, Pietro Maximoff, and Wanda Maximoff." Rogue supplied when Scott refused to say anything else.

"Why are you looking for them," Malie demanded rather anxiously.

"It's for a friend." Scott stated.

"What friend," Malie questioned in a shrill voice.

"I'm sure it's no one we're associated with Malie." Scarlet smoothly replied before leaving them to their conversation once more.

Sliver gave Malie's hand a quick squeeze before turning his, now hooded, gaze on Rogue and Scott. "I'm afraid that the only thing I can tell you about those three individuals is this. You will only be able to find them when they wish to be found. Until then it is a waste of valuable time and resources to continue searching for them."

"Is there anything else you could possibly tell us," Rogue begged of him.

Before he could form a reply Scarlet appeared and handed Sliver a folded piece of paper. He scanned it quickly and hand it back to her, "Brennen." He commanded.

Scarlet nodded her head and gave a quiet, "Natürlich, "in reply before disappearing into the crowd once more.

Sliver slipped out of the booth and moved to stand next to Rogue. "Would you care to dance?"

"Are you going to answer my question or not," she demanded of him.

"Dance with me and then I shall answer your question," Sliver replied as he flashed her one of his signature grins and held out a hand for her to take.

"Fine," Rogue begrudgingly agreed as she placed her hand in Sliver's and allowed him to lead her on to the dance floor.

The band had just struck up a slow smooth jazz song. Sliver pulled her close against him as they danced. Once they had moved out of view of Scott and Malie Sliver leaned down so that his mouth was a hairs breath away from her ear and whispered, "How long have you been sleeping with him?"

Rogue hesitated a moment before coolly replying, "I have no idea what you're referring to."

"You know exactly what I'm referring to." Sliver countered as he pulled her closer to him.

"Just once," Rogue begrudgingly admitted.

"My sisters and I lived in a Gypsy camp when we were younger. While we lived there we met a teller. She once told me that I would met the daughter of my greatest ally when I was twenty-six. At the time I didn't believe her. My sisters and I left the camp when we were teenagers."

"What does this have to do with me," Rogue asked as she looked up at his expressionless face.

"I hadn't heard from her in nearly thirteen years, until tonight. She requested that I pass a message along to you Anna Marie." Rogue froze as he used her given name. A name that she had only used a handful of times since she had left Mississippi. "She wants you to know that you're pregnant and that the choices you will make in the coming months will not only greatly affect your life and the life of your daughter, but also the lives of thirty-six other people. Some of whom you've met and some of whom you haven't. Do not let your mind make the decisions of your heart."

"You're crazy." Rogue breathed as she shoved away from him and stormed off in the direction of the booth where Scott and Malie still sat. "I'm leaving," Rogue snapped at Scott before adding, "you can come with me or stay. I don't care either way," and with that she headed off in the direction of the exit.

Scott looked after her inclined his head to Malie and Sliver, who had just returned, and quickly hurried after the irate Rogue.

~A New Kind of Mutant~

He caught up with her two blocks from the club. Grabbing her arm he spun her so that she was facing him. "Would you mind telling me what the hell that was?"

"It wasn't anything." Rogue snapped as she tired, helplessly to dislodge his grip from her upper arm.

"Could you please not lie to me," Scott snapped.

"I don't want to talk about it." Rogue mumbled as her gaze fell to the ground.

"Alright." Scott sighed as he brushed a piece of her long chestnut brown hair behind her left ear. Then pulling her into a hug he asked, "Did you want to walk around or go back to the hotel?"

"Hotel," Rogue mumbled as she breathed in his earthy vetiver scent.

"Alright," Scott whispered in her ear as they began to walk along the Thames to their hotel.

They were five minutes from the hotel when they stopped along the bank of the Thames as the sky lit up with fireworks. "Wow," Rogue breathed as she took in the bright neon colors.

"Yeah," Scott agreed as he pulled Rogue closer to him. Rogue chanced a glance up at him and then leaned closer into his side.

They stood there like that for quite some time before Rogue turned in Scott's arms and looked up at him at the same time that he looked down at her. As their eyes met Rogue felt a spark of electricity pass between them. As if in slow motion Scott lowered his head until their mouths collided in a frenzy of raw passion. They broke apart panting for breath as they stared into the others eyes. Then without so much as word passing between them Scott led the way back to the hotel.

As the doors slid shut to the elevator that the pair had entered Rogue wrapped her arms around Scott's neck and pulled his head down until his mouth was pressed against hers once more. As they kissed Scott lifted her up into his arms and her legs wrapped tightly around his waist. They stayed like this until they heard the tell-tale chime and swoosh of the elevator doors sliding open. With Rogue still held securely in his arms Scott carried her to their room.

When they reached the door Scott shifted Rogue's full weight to his left arm. Taking advantage of the change in position Rogue kissed, bit and nipped at Scott's neck as he dug out the key card from his back pocket.

As Scott kicked the door shut behind them Rogue unhooked his bleat and button of his jeans before sliding her hands down to the hem of his shirt and tugging on it. Recognizing her action for what it was Scott let her slide down the length of his body before yanking his shirt off and tossing it off to the side. He then pulled her to him so that she was flushed against him and slowly lowered his mouth to hers once more. As he continued to kiss her his hands slipped up and under her shirt. They continued their journey up her naked skin until they had reached her lower back. Rogue then broke the kiss long enough to remove her shirt and throw it somewhere on the floor. She pulled his mouth back down to her own, and rolled her hips against his erection forcing a groan from him.

Scott slowly slipped one arm across her back and the other under her ass before picking her up. As her feet left the firm ground behind Rogue hooked her legs around Scott's waist as he carried her to the bed where they crashed gracelessly on to it.

He slowly kissed his way down her body. As he worked his way down her stomach he flicked his tongue across her navel before sliding it slowly back up and dipping it inside, which caused a small moan to escape from behind her tightly closed lips. He repeated the action once more and smirked when it resulted in the same reaction as before. He then abandoned her navel in favor of the sensitive section of skin over her left hip bone. Rogue gasped as she felt Scott's teeth sink into the tender flesh over her hip bone before quickly swiping his tongue over the stinging mark.

Scott sat up then and gazed down into her hazy lust filled eyes. As he did he allowed his hands to slide down to the waist band of her shorts; and in one fluid motion he slid them down her long smooth legs and tossed it to the floor with the rest of their clothing. Rogue sat up then and gently ran a few fingers down his well-toned abs only stopping once she had reached the undone button of his jeans. Painstakingly slowly she pulled the zipper of his pants down and then pushed his pants down until they were riding low on his wait. Realizing what she was trying to do Scott pulled back and kicked off his shoes before allowing her to slide his jeans the rest of the way past his hips and down so that they only thing he still had on were his boxers.

Leaning down he covered her mouth with his as one of his hands snaked up her back and unclasped her black silk and lace bra and tossed it off to the side. Gently Scott pushed her back so that she was laying on the bed with him leaning over her. He slipped a knee between her legs and maneuvered so that he was balancing most of his weight on one hand as his other hand slid down the length of her slender body stopping were her matching black silk and lace panties began. He hooked his thumb and fore finger through her panties and tugged them down and off fist one leg and then the other before they too joined the pile of clothing strewn across the floor of the hotel.

Rogue wrapped an arm around his neck and pulled his mouth back down to hers. She then flipped them so that she was leaning over Scott. Breaking the kiss she let her gaze find his covered gaze. Sighing she sat back and pushed a hand through her hair as she said, "God, I wish I could see your eyes right now." Before Scott could open his mouth to answer Rogue placed gentle kisses down one of his stubble roughened cheek and down his neck. She stopped at Scott's collar bone and bit down hard enough to leave a bruise, but not to break the skin.

"Rogue," Scott said warningly as one of her hands traced the side of his face and behind his ear to the steam of his glasses.

"What?"

"Don't," Scott whispered as he gently grasped her hand in his and pulled it away from his face. Shaking his head Scott rolled them so that he was back on top. Pausing for just a moment he moved off of her and pushed his boxers down. Climbing back over on to the bed he captured her mouth in a hot and heated kiss as he thrust into her. The pace was fast and rough.

Rogue gasped and squirmed under Scott as she felt her orgasm coming on hard and fast. "Fuck Scott," she panted as he tipped her over the edge. Moments later Scott succumbed to his own climax with a harsh groan.

As they lay there with their limbs entwined Rogue played with the curl at the nape of his neck. After a few more minutes passed Scott sighed and rolled off of Rogue.

"Scott," she asked in quiet tone.

"Go to sleep," Scott told her as he pulled her to him. "We can talk in the morning."

Yawing Rogue laid her head on his chest and mumbled, "Okay," before allowing sleep to take her.

Looking down at her Scott brushed a kiss across her forehead before letting sleep claim him as well.

~A New Kind of Mutant~

Scott groaned and rolled over as he felt the rays of the morning sun dance across his skin. He groaned again when he felt something poke him in the ribs. "What," he mumbled sleepily when he was poked in the ribs again.

"We need to talk," Rogue said quietly.

Sighing Scott rolled over and looked at her. "About what," he asked as he stretched his stiff and aching muscles.

"About what happened last night," Rogue said quietly before adding, "I don't think it should happen again."

"Why," Scott asked suddenly alert.

"Doing this will just complicate things." Rogue mumbled as she played with a lose thread on the comforter.

"How so?" Scott asked gently as he tilted her head up so that she was forced to meet his eye.

"I…I…it...," Rogue stuttered as she looked at Scott nervously.

"Are you worried about how Jean, Logan and Kitty might react?" He questioned.

"Yes. Jean and I have just started to become friends, and Kitty would see it as a betrayal." Rogue said in a rush before continuing, "And Logan might just kill you if he ever found out."

"Then we won't let them find out," Scott said as he pulled her to him and lowered his mouth to hers.

~A New Kind of Mutant~

A week later

Scott was sitting at the only table in the room and talking to the professor when Rogue got back from checking out lead, which turned out to be yet another dead end.

"No we aren't making much head way. Every lead we get turns out to be a dead end." Scott said as Rogue quietly shut the door. "I'm out of ideas Professor." Scott before pausing and glancing over at Rogue who held out a brown to go bag with a tuna melt in it to Scott. Smiling Scott took the bag from her before adding, "I don't think we're going to be able to find them; and with the summer session getting ready to start I don't want to be away for much longer."

"Alright then Scott. Can you leave London tomorrow morning?"

Scott paused here and look up at Rogue who nodded, before answering the Professor's question, "Yes. We should be back sometime tomorrow night."

"Wonderful I'll see you both then." Charles said before he ended the call.

"Did you tell him about the meeting with Silver?" Rogue asked as Scott pulled her down on to his lap.

"No, and I'm not sure that we should tell him." Scott said with a sigh.

"Why not? You don't think he was right do you?" Rogue asked of him as she turned to look at him.

"Honestly I don't know what to think at this point." Scott answered as he reached around her and pulled out his tuna melt before taking a bite.

As the smell of the tuna fish assaulted her Rogue covered her mouth with a hand and made a dash for the bathroom. She made it just in time to vomit into the toilet basin. As she was throwing up the meager breakfast that she had been able to eat that morning she felt a pair of masculine hands pull her hair out of the way. When she had finally finished throwing up she leaned back against Scott's broad chest.

"Sorry," she mumbled as she felt another wave of nausea coming over her.

"I guess it's a good thing were leaving in the morning." Scott said with a smile.

"Yeah," Rogue replied as she leaned over the basin again to empty the rest of the contents of her stomach.

When she was sure that she had finally finished she flushed the toilet, rinsed her mouth, brushed her teeth, and took a quick shower before going back out into the main room.

"Feel better now?" Scott asked.

"A little." Rogue muttered as flopped down on to the bed that they had been sharing for the past week or so. Curling up around one of the oversized feather pillows she added, "I'm going to bed."

"Alright." Scott said glancing at the alarm clock on the bedside table which showed that it was only eight thirty.

~A New Kind of Mutant~

The next morning

"Marie," Scott said quietly as he shook her awake.

"What," she asked sleepily.

"It's seven thirty, we need to start getting ready." Scott told her as he gently brushed a few stray hairs away from her face. "By the time you've gotten dressed and we eat breakfast it'll be eight thirty and getting clearance for takeoff will probably take us at least an hour if not longer."

"Okay," she mumbled as she sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed.

"How are you feeling?" Scott asked when he noticed the dark circles under her eyes.

"I feel fine. A little tired, but fine." She told him as she grabbed a fresh set of clothes out of her duffel bag and head towards that bathroom to get ready.

She emerged from the bathroom fifteen minutes later. "What time will we get back to the school?"

"Probably around twelve tonight." Scott said as he swung both of their duffel bags on to his shoulder. Turing to her he asked, "Ready for breakfast?"

"Yes," Rogue said and then she stood on tip toe and placed a swift kiss on his lips.

"What was that for?"

With a dazzling smile she answered, "I won't be able to do that whenever I like once we're back."

Shaking his head Scott opened the door to their room and followed her out for one last time.

~A New Kind of Mutant~

Scott had been right on the mark when he said that they wouldn't get back to the school until twelve. The weather had been an absolute nightmare. As they walked back into the hanger Rogue yawned and stretched a little before noticing that the Professor and Logan were waiting for them.

"Hey Logan," Rogue said with a smile as she met the older man's worried eyes. "Is everything alright?"

"No kid everything's not alright." Was Logan's gruff reply as he and Charles exchanged a telling glance.

"What happened?" Scott asked as he looked from Logan to Charles' worried faces.

"There was a mission yesterday evening and Paige was severely injured during it." Charles explained as he looked at Rogue. "We believe that it is somehow related to what the two of you were doing in London."

"How?" Rogue asked as she shot a nervous glance at Scott.

"There was a note kid." Logan said causing Rogue to look back at him.

"Is there something that you failed to mention to me yesterday Scott?" Charles asked as he regarded his former student.

"Yes. Cas' contact told us that you would only be able to find them when they wished to be found and until then it is a waste of valuable time and resources to continue searching for them." Scott said.

"Dammit the attack on Paige doesn't involve those three Chuck." Logan snarled as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I was afraid of that." Charles replied with a hint of disappointment in his voice. "If the two of you don't mind we would like to speak with you now."

"Of course not Professor," both of them said before following him and Logan to the study.

By the time they had finished briefing the Professor and Logan on everything that had accrued in London it was ell after two in the morning.

Once they had left the Professor's study Scott walked Rogue to her room. "I'll see you sometime tomorrow," Scott said quietly as he bent down and kissed her goodnight.

"Night," Rogue whispered as she quietly opened the door to her room and slipped inside. She quickly pulled on a pair of pajamas before crawling under the covers and falling asleep.

In his room Scott did the same thing.

A/N: Alright so this chapter took a lot longer to write that I originally thought it would. Part of the reason is because I kept losing my inspiration for this chapter. The second part is because I didn't save the original chapter five that I had written properly and ended up having to retype this entire chapter, and in doing this I completely changed the entire dynamic of this chapter and several of the following chapters. Which basically means that if you read the original chapter 5, 6, 7 and so on that I wrote you'll need to read the new posts to understand what's going on. I have no idea when I will post chapter six. It could take a day or it could take another two years. Thanks for reading. Feel free to leave a review if you want to.
