Silver Moons and Golden Suns
Rose: Yes, I was a little dead and a hypocrite. I was busy moving all my stuff to my friend's house, and I've been dogsitting for a week, and those pups are a HANDful. Anyways, less chat, more writing. Here's your chapter today! And Sorry for the small hiatus. Oh, and a new summary!
~ Sun ~
I was still flabbergasted that Silver had given me that gift. The small toy was on my bed, sitting on the pillow, and that little badge was sitting on my desk. The Zephyr Badge. I did a small bit of research, and I discovered that in all, there were 8 badges in every region, so 16 in the Johto-Kanto region, and that the Zephyr Badge was the first one given out to new trainers in the Johto region, and the leader was called Falkner, and he used bird Pokemon. It blew my mind that all of this existed before Giovanni. So I did even more reading.
It was stunning. We were taught that Giovanni had ruled forever, but he only ruled for roughly 40 years. And his kid… The real one, he was a teenager at that time. I kept reading and reading until the information became impossible to find. But, I did find something huge that caught my interest. The Legendary Celebi. Apparently, Celebi had the ability to time travel and dwelled in Ilex Forest, where the shrine that was built for it was torn down after Giovanni took power. I wanted to visit urgently, just to see what happened. That forest was by Azalea Town, which was quite far from Violet City. So once my mom came home, I begged to let her take me there, claiming that I had to write a paper on the Slowpoke Trade. She agreed, and we drove the hour to the small town buried in trees.
She went to the Visitor Center, to say they would be there only for a little bit, and I snuck off to the forest, Cyndaquil plush in my bag, and the badge in my hand. The forest was mostly untouched, except for the fact nature was strictly contained. I walked through the woods, seeing a drained pond and the lack of anything living. When I reached the shrine, my heart fell. The small wooden shrine was crushed and burned, and now was only a pile of charred wood, with flowers and vines growing out of it. I approached the shrine.
"Celebi?... I... know you probably can't hear me but… I'm so sorry. I can't believe they did this to your shrine… Those Rockets really are monsters huh? I had wanted to try and meet you… Because I knew you traveled through time. And I had the small fleeting hope you could help me out… But it doesn't look like you're here anymore so I'll just leave now…" I realized I had started to cry, so I wiped my face and turned around, looking at my now muddy sneakers. Poor Celebi… Being driven from its home.
I took one step forward, back to the shrine when I heard a cry. I turned around slowly, before gasping and slipping, landing on the ground hard. Before me, there was a small green fairy-like Pokemon floating above the shrine. It looked at me with bright blue eyes, as if hopeful. It floated down towards me and gave an upbeat cry, taking my hands and helping me up. Then, we locked eyes again and I heard a small voice in my head.
'You are the first to truly come here to my forest and feel sorry for me, to the point of crying on my shrine. At least now I know the humans of this generation aren't complete puppets to that wicked man's will. You said you wanted to help right?'
"I- yeah I want to help! I hate how things work right now. I looked into how things worked in the past and they were so much better, More peaceful, much freer. So I do want to help! How can you help me?" I asked, pleading to the Legendary Pokemon.
'Of course. I am a time traveler after all. I'm surprised that you want to help. However, I'm limited in what I can do to help you. Here are the choices. For sure I can send you back to before Giovanni's revolt against the Elite Four and the Johto-Kanto government. I can also give you a little welcome package to help you since the way you look right now would be suspicious to the people of the past. I also can grant you one more thing. Anything in particular?' It tilted its head towards me. I gave it thought. If I was going to be in the past, where people my age were Pokemon Trainers, then I'd need Pokemon, right?
"I need some Pokemon. It'll be dangerous otherwise." I said simply.
'Easy. Seeing as there is a Cyndaquil in your bag, Typhlosion is a perfect choice. I'll also give you a special Gyarados. And finally… How about this? I'll help you out too. Seeing as there are certain things you can't change, I'll be helping you out to avoid causing a paradox. Sound fair to you?' I nodded. I was going to be a Pokemon Trainer, trying to save the world from 40 years in the past, armed with two Pokemon I've never heard of, and a Legendary who can bend time.
"I'd be honored to have your help Celebi!" I grinned. It squealed in joy, flying in a circle before a soft green light emitted from it.
'We'll end up in the forest, right here you are now. Everything you'll need will be in your bag, along with the Pokeballs, and another necessity. Good luck! I believe in you!' The light grew in size before it became warm, and I drifted away into unconsciousness.
When I awoke, I was lying in the grass. I sat up and looked around. Nature was thriving, the sound of bud Pokemon filled the air, the pond had water again, and Celebi's shrine was standing strong, with a few vines growing around it. I checked my bag and found a red sweatshirt, some black shorts, some sneakers, and a red and yellow hat. I also found a belt with three pokeballs on it, two of them red and white, and the last was green and white, with 4 yellow marks and a red one in the middle, in a semi-circle fashion. I remembered from my studies that they were two normal Pokeballs, and a Friend Ball, which was probably holding Celebi.
I quickly put everything on and looked at myself in the water. I looked like a Trainer all right, and not some dreary student living in a nightmare. I heard twigs snapping and I jumped, turning towards the sound, only to see a redhead in all dark clothes. My heart jumped in my chest. It was Silver… The real one, before he died of that illness. But, for all I know, that was false too. His eyes narrowed at me.
"Can I help you?!" He yelled at me, throwing verbal poison at me, making me flinch with shock. The Silver I had grown used to was nowhere near as mean. But then again, the Silver I knew was technically a fake anyway. Celebi's voice rang again in my head.
'Actually, tell him everything. He'll help you, but he'll resist at first. And with what you're doing, his help will benefit you greatly! And if he needs convincing, just send me out. Go for it!' I took a deep breath and stood straight.
"I'm from the future where Giovanni takes over Kanto and Johto!" I said with all the force I could muster. He looked at me as if I was nuts.
"You're a moron. My father disappeared, there's no way he can do that."
"It can and already has! He's raising everyone to be brutal monsters, teaching us that it's okay to abuse and kill Pokemon if they aren't complete slaves to us and I hate it! And you died, and he made this clone of you and we were friends! Please, I just want to save my time because it's terrible and I can't survive there. Pokemon aren't tools, they are as alive as we are!" I yelled, putting all my heart into the words. He still didn't believe me.
"Then how did you get here?" He said in disdain. I bit my lip and grabbed Celebi's Friend Ball, dropping it to the ground and releasing the fairy-like Pokemon. Silver's eyes widen and he jumped back, falling down.
"C-Celebi! Y-you found and befriended Celebi?" He said in shock. I guess that's a reasonable response since Legendaries are rare and hard to find, let only capture them.
"Celebi heard my plea and agreed to help me. I can't do this by myself, so please Silver… Help me out. You might die after Giovanni takes power." I pleaded with him. His eyes weren't as bright as the Silver I knew, they were more stormy and filled with an unknown hurt. Eventually, he stood up, brushed himself off and looked at me.
"Fine. But I'm not making friends with you. Got it, whatever your name is?" I blinked.
"Ethan. Ethan Hunter. Thank you, Silver."
Rose: and that's all for now. Sorry about the slow updates, but I've had to move houses twice now and school is brutal. I'm trying my best to keep updating, so, please! Maybe some reviews will motivate me? :D Anyways, have a good day!
