The Age of Neon
After Eggman and Infinite defeated and captured Sonic, they started tearing up the city. Though the civilians tried to fight back, Infinite killed them off one by one. Cowering in fear was a green bird with a white beak and blue eyes.
"My parents… My friends… Gone…" he muttered to himself in fear.
His name was Neon and he was the only one left from Infinite's attack. He eventually got up and reached for one of the blasters.
"I can taste your terror, child." Infinite spoke as Neon picked up the blaster. "All that anxiety and doubt…"
Neon took aim at Infinite, but was shaking through fear.
"It's delicious." Infinite said before firing a blast at Neon's feet, making him stumble and drop the blaster.
"Give in to your fear. Flee, screaming, and I'll let you live." Infinite laughed.
Neon fled in terror after that incident. Eventually, he was found and rescued by the Resistance. Though Charmy said that he doesn't look like much, Vector seemed to believe in him. Knuckles gives Neon a Wispon, specifically, the green hover Wispon. Once Knuckles hears that Sonic is alive and is being held captive by Eggman, Knuckles sends some troops along with Neon to the Spaceport in the Chemical Plant to "borrow" a shuttle. During the mission, Neon started to have mixed feelings about the incident he survived from. He was full of sadness for the loss of his friends and family.
"My family. My friends." Neon thought to himself, full of mixed thoughts.
Upon acquiring a shuttle, Neon and the Resistance took it to the Death Egg to rescue Sonic. Upon making it in, Neon fought his way through, looking for Sonic. During the battle, Neon was cornered by some Egg Pawns, but then Sonic, who was now free, smashed them away.
"Easy there! Everything's cool." Sonic said before helping Neon up. "Are you here to rescue me?"
"Yes, yes I am." Neon said before heading with Sonic to the shuttle and back to Resistance headquarters.
Back at HQ, the Resistance was discussing a plan to take out a weapons factory in Green Hill. Knuckles insisted that Sonic should head there and take Neon with him. Vector had doubts about Neon due to his fear and mixed feelings. During the mission to the factory, Sonic talked to Neon about being brave and fighting fear head on, but upon hearing Sonic say the word payback, Neon thought to himself about getting some payback on Infinite and Eggman for what they did to him. However, that thought was put on hold when Neon was given another mission to fight Eggman's forces in the city to protect the civilians.
"No one will suffer as I did." Neon said to himself during the mission. "I won't allow it."
After the mission, the Resistance detected two life forms in Mystic Jungle in the lab where Sonic fought Infinite and sent Neon to investigate. Upon arrival, he found a Phantom Ruby prototype that Infinite dropped during his fight with Silver before fighting Sonic. Picking it up, it glowed him his hands. Eventually, Tails and Classic Sonic met up with him.
"Have we met before?" Tails asked.
"No, but the good news is that Sonic is alive." Neon said.
"Yeah, I know." Tails said before Neon brought him and Classic Sonic back to Resistance HQ. Back there, Tails said that Eggman has a plan to wipe out the Resistance in three days. After learning that the Shadow Sonic fought was a fake after it was defeated by the real Shadow who later on lets the Resistance know that Infinite can create virtual reality copies of anyone, Knuckles reveals his plan to attack Eggman's HQ in Metropolis called "Operation Big Wave". Neon had serious doubts about the plan and he was right. A lot of the Resistance forces there were wiped out by Infinite. That's where Neon encountered him again.
"Are you going to fight and die here? Or, run away in fear again?" Infinite said as he approached Neon.
"You… You killed my friends and family." Neon spoke. "You. You FUCKER!"
Lifting a leg up, Neon kicked Infinite in the balls.
"Owww! Why you!" Infinite yelled in rage.
"It's YOU who will DIE, Phantom Fucker!" Neon swore. "For what you did, I'll rip your goddamn heart out!"
"Fine. I'll teach you fear, then pain, and then… well, at least the fear and pain will end." Infinite said before the battle began. Neon's fear turned into anger, and then from anger into hate. He wanted to murder Infinite for killing off his friends and family. Neon used every single trick to fight Infinite, including fighting dirty.
"I remember you." Infinite spoke. "You ran from me before. You've survived then, but to throw it all away now. Curious."
Infinite then uses the Phantom Ruby to summon some cannons aimed at Neon.
"This will be good-bye." Infinite laughed as he made the cannons fire at Neon, but due to the Phantom Ruby prototype Neon was holding, the cannons and their attack faded away.
"What!?" Infinite said in surprise. "How is this possible? It can't be… How did you?"
Infinite tried blasting Neon again, but he dodged, and when Infinite lunged, Neon kicked him in the balls again.
"Gah! How dare you!" Infinite shouted.
"Take that, Phantom Fucker!" Neon said.
"You. You only have two days left. I'll make you regret insulting me once and for all!" Infinite swore before escaping.
Back at Resistance HQ, Neon wanted to attack and scold Knuckles for his failed plan but kept his rage in check for now. While Tails and Classic Sonic were getting info about the Phantom Ruby from the Chemical Plant, Neon and Sonic battle Metal Sonic in the city and defeat him.
"Hey! That was great!" Sonic said after the victory.
"Whatever." Neon grunted as he crossed his arms.
"What's with the attitude change?" Sonic questioned.
"None of your damn business." Neon replied. "We're done here."
This left Sonic wondering what was with Neon. Meanwhile, Tails informs the Resistance about how to stop the Phantom Ruby and comes up with a plan to distract Eggman. Neon distracts Eggman's forces in Green Hill while Sonic makes it to the Chemical Plant computer to hack into the Death Egg's weapons systems and shut them down. This gave Classic Sonic the opportunity to sneak into the Death Egg and destroy it. The attack was a success. Next, the resistance blasts through Metropolis to take down Eggman at the Central Tower. However, Eggman was prepared and has Infinite create a vortex into null space. As it was sucking Sonic in, Neon tried to save him, but ended up getting sucked in with Sonic. However, using Sonic's power, Neon was able to blast through, escaping null space. Upon reaching Eggman again, Neon lunged at Eggman from behind and punched him in the back of the head.
"Ow! Why you!" Eggman shouted.
Neon jumped at Eggman again and began strangling him.
"You and that Phantom Fucker will DIE for killing my friends and family, Egg Fucker!" Neon swore.
Infinite charged at Neon who jumps out of the way, making him hit Eggman instead.
"Hey! Don't hit me!" Eggman shouted.
"I'll kill you both off once and for all!" Neon yelled.
"You won't get the chance you bad-beaked birdbrain!" Eggman swore as he and Infinite retreated.
"Revenge? So that explains the attitude change." Sonic said.
Grabbing Sonic by nose and squeezing tightly, Neon says "You should've killed off Eggman when you had the chance! That way I'd still have my friends and family alive today! You are weak! I let nothing stand in my way!" before letting go.
Neon's attitude was discussed at Resistance HQ, but it was more important to take down Eggman due to having less than an hour before his plan was ready. The Resistance heads to Eggman's empire fortress where the final battle would take place. During the battle, Infinite creates a massive sun to wipe everyone out. Upon noticing that that Neon's Phantom Ruby prototype was reacting, Tails informs him that it can stop the sun. Neon then makes his way up the imperial tower to use the prototype to make the sun disappear. He succeeds in making it vanish. Surprised, Eggman flies over to where he sees a red light glowing from Neon's Phantom Ruby prototype. Neon, exhausted, collapses, with the prototype breaking.
"Impossible! I thought all the prototypes were destroyed!" says a shocked Eggman in disbelief.
Neon, though, tired, gets up, jumps at Eggman, and stabs him with a knife.
"Die you fat Egg Fucker!" Neon shouted in rage.
"Augh! Get off me you bloodthirsty bird!" Eggman yells as he shakes Neon off.
"What are you doing!?" Tails said in surprise as he flew over to Neon.
"Killing this fucker for what he and Infinite did to my friends and family!" Neon declared.
Meanwhile, Sonic was battling Infinite. Just when Infinite was about to finish Sonic off, Neon jumps in and kicks Infinite in the balls.
"Your time has come, Phantom Fucker!" Neon swore before looking at Sonic. "And you're gonna help me kill him!"
"What!?" Sonic said in surprise.
However, the battle resumed and Neon used Sonic's power to defeat Infinite. With him weakened, Neon pulled Infinite's mask off and gets ready to finish him.
"DIE PHANTOM FUCKER!" Neon yells with all the hate in his heart before snapping Infinite's neck and spitting on his dead face.
"Have you lost your mind!?" Sonic said in shock.
"He deserved to die for ruining my life!" Neon justified. "I wouldn't expect the likes of you to understand!"
Infinite's dead body then disappears and Eggman says "I can't believe Infinite lost to someone so abhorrent. But it doesn't matter. I'll still destroy all of you!"
Neon tries to lunge at Eggman who was fleeing, but Sonic pulls him back and says "Stop! You can't kill him!"
"Yes I can you idiot!" Neon justified.
"Look, you can't. We have to take out the reactor. We'll talk about this later." Sonic said.
After destroying the reactor, Eggman appears in a Death Egg Robot powered by the Phantom Ruby and claims that the fortress reactor was just a decoy. Neon, Sonic, and Classic Sonic then go to fight off Eggman and his Death Egg Robot.
They battle Eggman and using the power of both Sonics, Neon was able to destroy Eggman's robot. After the battle, Classic Sonic disappeared back to his dimension just after Tails said good-bye to him. Back at Resistance HQ, Neon decides to leave, but not before calling Knuckles an "incompetent imbecile" and telling him that he's unfit to be a commander.
"Still, did you really have to kill Infinite?" Vector asked.
"What if he and Eggman killed your friends? Wouldn't you feel the same way? Well!? WOULDN'T YOU?!" Neon shouted.
"Well, uh…" Vector said, confused.
"Your anger and methods aren't welcome!" Rouge complained.
Neon snapped and punches Rouge hard in the face before leaving.
Back in the city, Sonic rushes up to Neon and says "Hey! You can't go around killing anyone you hate!"
Full of rage, and feeling power build up inside him, Neon yells "You know nothing about loss! So shut up!"
Just then, a green beam fires out of Neon's hand and hits Sonic, knocking him down. Surprised and amazed about this new power, Neon rushes off to plan his revenge on Eggman, wherever he may be. Ditching the wire shooting band and Wispon he was given, Neon uses his newfound power to create a double-bladed beam saber with a blaster function. He then stumbles upon an old wrecked E-series robot known as E-117 Sigma. Neon reprograms and rebuilds to the robot to serve him, for as far a Neon knew, vengeance was coming, and he won't rest till he kills off Eggman once and for all!
