Something that is more fundamental to this universe- A Tale of Hydrinos

At first, no one was even thinking about the catastrophe. A sudden loss of Satellite navigation. A sudden surge in flight accidents. An unusual cold blast in the upper North Americas.

Then there were more. Weather patterns goes out of control, the first winter in the Arctics become uninhabitably cold. Rains fell across the Globe.

We thought global warming, before the climatologists concluded that the global average temperatures have dropped for more than 0.8 degrees C. Scientists and Astronomers scrambled to find the reason, and the conclusion was made.

Just after January 2031, the Solar system was hit by an invisible cloud of matter. Dark matter. The gravitational force of the cloud of matter have captured the Earth, Neptune, the two Gas Giants and about one third of the Asteroid belt into it's orbit, bringing us away from the life-giving light of the Sun. There is no escape from this. We can not move the Earth. We can only Hide.

Initially, there were panic. People scrambled for food and warm places to hide. Then there were the Great Migration. Refugees coming from the Arctics to the Tropics as the temperature drops degree by degree every two months. But without a source of energy, none of the people would survive.

Nations scrambled to build underground cities near Geothermal hot spots as these locations were the few places where energy could be generated without the sun. But the efforts were again, not enough to save most of Humanity, only about 1 in 1000 would be able to survive in such a highly reduced Biosphere.

So we chose the Elites, the best of all Leaders, Scientists and Engineers to go down the underground cities first, leaving the non-elite and the rest of Humanity behind. Did we really need this?

Energy companies went to full blast, as they scramble to build more power plants and find more sources of energy to keep the population warm. One of them have found an anomaly. An anomaly related to Hydrogen. As a spark was passed through it through liquid silver or gallium, an excess of heat was generated. The longer the spark was maintained, the more heat it generates.

The exact mechanism of the anomaly was uncertain, yet the excess heat was clearly there. Initial reactors were built based on this principle, which many suffered a meltdown as the heat-generating plasma reaction goes out of control. Yet they eventually succeeded. Electrical power were generated, and new underground cities were built, based on this novel source of power. This time, more than 10 percent of what's left of Humanity were able to find refuge from the increasing cold.

As the earth approached a distance from the Sun comparable to the original orbit of Jupiter, the best of our scientists eventually concluded, that, the anomaly was the result of the S orbital electron of the Hydrogen atom being promoted to fall to an orbit that is much closer to the proton than what was assumed to be the ground state of Hydrogen. A principal quantum number of a fraction of 1. Hydrinos, if you wish. The process releases light in the form of Extreme UV photons, which are absorbed by the plasma itself, keeping it hot and sustaining the process.

We concluded that the novel form of hydrogen was catalytically formed by the interaction of normal hydrogen atoms with existing Hydrinos, particles that were the primary composition of what was known as dark matter. The efficiency of such an reaction is comparable to the nuclear fusion of all the deuterium within the same amount of hydrogen into helium. The same cloud of dark matter that deprived us the light and warmth of the sun provided us the catalyst that allowed the generation of abundant, life-giving energy from nothing more than water ice.

There was a saying: "When God closes a door in front of you, he will always open a window." there is always another way.

Well, there is another saying: "Life always find a way."

As the elites cowed under the geothermal warmth below the ground, we were forced to stay. First in places like basements and tunnels and shallow caves and so on, then deep inside locations like mines and subway tunnels. When we finally ran out of food and are forced to re-emerge, we found a landscape that is completely alien to our old selves. While heating is provided by burning whatever that was left from before the earth left the solar system, strange, arthropod-reptilian like animals with orange internal bioluminescence now roam the land. Hunting the animals provided us food, but more importantly, a glowing, heat-giving substance known as Thermal Energy. The substance not only provided us the necessary heat needed to survive, but also allowed anyone who have been contacting the substance or being near it to regenerate in an extreme rate and survive in harsh conditions, not unlike that of the strange animals themselves. Using this resource, we managed to survive as even the energy companies have abandoned us after their capacity of power generation and subterranean construction were maxed out, and no more people could be accepted into their underground cities. We settled the surface, where now there were no air as all of it were frozen into a solid covering the ground, while the elites stayed cozily within their heated underground cities. We didn't know where these animals came from, yet they were the only reason we managed to survive on the surface, which now looked like Europa. These animals breed without apparent sources of food except for surface ice and rocks, and there were an unending supply of these animals since they breed like rabbits. In fact, there are enough of these animals around to support the entire global electricity usage before the cloud of Dark Matter hit the solar system and sent the Earth onto an escape trajectory away from the sun.

It took more than a single Old year for us to figure out the fact that these animals were evolved from bacteria that resides within the cloud of Dark Matter that have hit the Earth. The cells of these animals had the bacteria inside of them, not unlike the mitochondria inside eukaryotic cells of earth life. The bacteria performs the same reaction as what the energy companies figured out- They produce an enzyme that catalyze the same conversion of hydrogen atoms into hydrinos with fractional principle quantum number, releasing energy which is how these animals gain the energy necessary to function and move. Thermal Energy, the lifeblood of these animals, are in essence, a concentration of such bacteria. Which is how it gives out heat without apparent source of energy, and the reason of it's effect on humans. These animals must be earth life that have been affected by, or, "evolved" by the presence of Thermal Energy. Effects that are universal across all kinds of cellular life, humans included.

We hid beneath the ground, inside underground cities as the sun moved away from us.

After tens of years of isolation underground, we were finally able to gather enough power generation capacity and expanded our underground cities enough, that we can finally breach the surface and settle the ground above us. We expect a lifeless, ice-filled wasteland as scientists concluded that the surface of the Earth should become completely uninhabitable since the temperature on the surface is calculated to be just above the Cosmic microwave background temperature, far below the freezing point of even Nitrogen and Oxygen that even the atmosphere would be frozen onto the ground rendering the surface all but completely uninhabitable. Instead, we found an active, exotic ecosystem where everything moves. The primary producers were large, cow-sized animals that were incredibly hostile toward everything other than themselves, killing multiple members of the surface exploration team before being subdued by our military. The primary Consumers were a large variety of elephant-sized predatory animals that sneak upon and eat the primary producers whole. Then there were even larger animals that hunts and eats these animals, even larger animals that hunts and eats these and so on, with the largest specimens reaching the size of entire mountain ranges, seemingly defying the Square-Cube law of physics and animal biology.

Then, there were the inhabitants of the surface world. They look disturbingly like us, if not for the jet-black skin color ,orange internal bioluminescence and their ability of surviving the cold vacuum of the frozen surface indicating a biology more in-line with the new, exotic surface ecosystem rather than Earth life. They had a culture that are based on hunting these surface creatures, a language that seemingly utilize bioluminescence and an audible form of radio waves, and most disturbingly, scans on the inhabitants revealed that both the tools and weapons they sometimes wield and the elaborately embroidered, ritualistic "clothing" that were worn by most of the surface inhabitants were in fact parts of their own bodies composed of the same kind of cellular matter the rest of their bodies were composed of. Parts that have been recorded to change in shape, style and function spontaneously without external aid, within seconds. And these inhabitants were as hostile toward us as practically everything that now roams the surface, despite being clearly sentient.

Interestingly, analysis from materials blown off one of the inhabitants during the initial conflicts have revealed metabolic pathways and biological processes that resemble remarkably to reaction pathways and processes used in the chemical industry. It may be convergent evolution, or something that was more fundamental to this universe.

We will attempt to establish a first contact with the surface inhabitants. If all went well, We may have our first alien ally in history. If not, We will have an alien invasion on our hands. Let's hope that the first contact will go well.

The cowards, the "elites" that have hidden underground have finally came out of their hiding. Wearing spacesuits that were used to walk on the moon and fearful of the surface as if it wasn't their own planet.

Their physiology is weak, they can not survive on the surface like we could. They rely on their deep source of heat in order to perform any kinds of operation on the surface where we live and hunt casually. Their bodies were fragile. Breaching their spacesuits will kill them within a minute. Their cellular structure is laughable, they can not even properly repair their own wounds, let alone changing the shapes of part of their bodies to form tools, weapons and devices like nearly everything on the surface could do by some extant.

But in the deepest level, they are just like us. They use the same energy source, the decay of hydrogen into dark matter hydrinos to generate heat and light. They have the same metabolic pathways as us, stitching together formaldehyde, acetic acid and ammonia to generate organic matter. Their body plan and appearance remarkably haven't deviated much from that of ours, even after such a long period of isolation between such extremely different environments. We examined their technology after an initial conflict with the re-emerged "elites", and it was nearly identical to our biology. It seems like, that, while we evolve our energy generation and metabolic pathways within ourselves, they evolved the same pathways in places outside their bodies. A remarkable example of how different approaches ended up answering the same question. Or this is something that is more fundamental to our universe.

Should we kill them in order to take their technological advantage for us to use? Or should we approach on this issue, more peacefully?
