Pitch Black World

Chasing Butterflies

Rated K+ - It's generally lighthearted, but even so.

Genre: Poetry | Spiritual

Ever wondered "why butterflies?" If so, let us dive into my version of Pitch's past in poetry form.

.

.

.

.

They flutter,

flitter in the morning air,

their frail wings

dancing in the sky,

lifting them into clouds

of brightly coloured petals,

letting them,

for just a moment,

just a few seconds,

minutes,

to freely fly.

.

As he watches them,

with innocence,

with childish joviality;

such an insignificant scene,

a beautiful triviality.

.

Curiosity is lit -

golden, platinum and silver

- wonder alight in his eyes.

.

He follows the little

flying beauties,

running after them

in hopes of flying,

just like them.

.

Oh, how he wishes to be free,

to bring joy to the world,

to be something.

How he wishes to have wings

of his own.

But what mere mortal,

mere boy,

with no wings to speak of,

no magic to boast,

cand set foot and hand

in the air?

.

So he continues chasing them,

those butterfly-like entities,

chasing his wishes;

his dreams.

Those little things,

which give hope and birth

to greater goals.

.

Yet, he trips up,

on his own foolishness,

youth pushes him down

and down he falls

onto the ground.

No mortal he knows of

could ever fly.

.

This little ravanette

sitting on the grass,

in fields of flowers

and creatures free to

venture through the air,

he continues to watch,

to patiently, curiously stare.

A dream of his,

a joy of his,

that will last.

This picture is forever,

a memory

that shall not wither

or die.

.

A single moment of true happiness

passes through his matured mind,

as he is reminded of those times,

of chasing dreams

shaped like butterflies.

A/N - Mind you, this isn't canon. This is part of a past I've thought up, a little of Pitch's childhood and a reason for his butterfly dreams. Dreams come a lot from areas of childhood, as its then that you are probably most imaginative, or at least, they do in my opinion. On a more negative note, the chances of me ever adding to this past arc whilst keeping it mostly light-hearted and positive are near none. What to say, my mind's messed up.
