Charmed - The next generation
"Alright." Paige said authoritatively. "Piper, Wyatt, Chris, Prue, Kat and Tamora, you are on one team and me, Phoebe, Coop, Peyton, Parker and Leo are on the other".
"Wow, you've really got this all worked out". Piper said, with her eyebrows raised.
"Well I intend to win". Paige replied teasingly.
"We'll just see about that" Piper smiled, amused, as she picked up a card and a pen and began drawing something. They all loved Pictionary and the kids seemed to be enjoying the rivalry between their mothers. The door to the manor opened and the sound of rain coming down heavily outside could be heard.
"Hey, sorry I'm late I got caught up with an innocent. Damn warlocks". The girl took down her umbrella and put her coat on the hanger. Chris got up from his seat with Prue and kissed Bianca, which made her smile. Chris grinned back at her, happy to see her again. Prue moved onto the arm of the chair that she and Chris had been sharing, to make room for Bianca. Bianca smiled gratefully at Prue, who smiled back.
Prue had always liked Bianca and Bianca had felt the same way. Bianca made Chris happy and with all they had gone through in their lives he deserved that and that's all Prue needed to like her. From the beginning Prue had been very accepting of Bianca and had shown her nothing but kindness, which was more than she had expected, considering how they had met. Not many couples met because one of them was carrying out a hit placed on the other. Thank God she hadn't gone through with that!
"Can we get back to the game?" Peyton asked enthusiastically. Piper continued to draw until she heard Parker yell.
"Demons!".
Everyone moved into action.
"Paige! Get Leo out of here!" Piper yelled from the hallway, as a demon flung her into the clock. Paige orbed Leo to magic school before he could object. "We've never had such a large scale demon attack!" Chris said confused.
Chris and Bianca were in the kitchen protecting Prue from the demons, Wyatt was in the lounge with Kat and Tamora, as they orbed things at the demons and Phoebe, Coop and Paige were shielding Peyton and Parker from fireballs in the conservatory.
"What the hell is going on!?" Phoebe yelled, over the noise of demons being vanquished. "They're not even the same clans!"
"Ah!" Piper screamed, as she dodged another fire ball. "Okay, what are we going to do? They just keep shimmering in!"
Chris used his electrokinesis to fry another five demons. "You're really getting good with that Chris." Prue said with a slight hint of jealousy, which Chris picked up on. Prue hated not having powers. She felt so helpless watching the people she loved risk themselves to save her. It made her feel like a burden. Chris couldn't bear to see his cousin upset but there was no time for that now. He had always been closest to her out of all the Charmed children. They were both stubborn and had a temper. That was one of the reasons Prue got on so well with Piper as well. She loved her mother but it was undeniable she was most like her favourite aunt, Piper.
Undetected, a figure shimmered in behind Peyton. The figure reached out his hand to her and she screamed. Hearing her daughter cry out, Phoebe turned around to see the demon standing over her. Phoebe ran towards the figure, rage in her eyes. No one would hurt her daughter! The demon began draining Peyton's life force. She had stopped screaming now but her eyes reflected the terror she was feeling. Her soul was being drawn from her body and pulsed through the demon like an electric current. Her body was raised into the air by a dark gloom that encircled the two of them.
Phoebe dived at the demon that was trying to hurt Peyton, breaking the connection between them. Peyton fell to the floor, unconscious but alive. The demon had changed his target now. He tried to get up but Phoebe kicked him in the throat, sending him spiralling into the table, which crumpled under his weight. The demon got up and gave Phoebe a contemptuous smile. "Piper! Paige!" The demon came closer. He was enjoying this.
"I'm coming Phoebe!" Paige said, as she tried to fight off ten demons at once. She got one of them with his own fire ball but then five more appeared and she was backed into a corner, using an upended table as cover. As Phoebe kicked the demon down again, she looked over to Piper who wasn't any better off than Paige. Phoebe was alone.
The demon came at her again but this time, when she kicked him, he didn't even flinch. He reached out his hand and she felt herself being raised off the ground. She suddenly felt colder and weaker.
"No! Phoebe!" Paige had broken free of the demons she was fighting and was running towards her sister when some of the other demons, seeing what she was doing, abandoned the witches and shimmered in beside Paige.
Phoebe let out a last little croak, as her soul coursed through the demon's arm and into him. Paige and Piper watched, helplessly, as her body crashed to the ground, empty.
Piper screamed. She couldn't lose another sister! She ran at the demon. Not thinking, just running. She tried to blow him up but he merely laughed. He raised his hand and Paige cried out "Piper!" as if it would do anything. Just as before, Piper fell, powerless.
Paige looked around. Her two sisters were gone. Really gone and there was nothing she could do about it. She couldn't let this happen to the rest of her family. She orbed all of them out of the room, then orbed herself to the attic, grabbed the book and orbed away.
Chapter 2
The Halliwells were sitting anxiously , waiting for Paige to return with their mothers. "Why aren't they back yet?!" Chris thought aloud as he moved his mop of thick brown hair out of his eyes.
"None of us feel good about this Chris" Prue said, as she wrapped her arm around him comfortingly and he sunk into the sofa beside her. Everyone felt defeated. The demons had driven them out of their own home and beaten them.
"What are we going to do? If they're not back soon, I'm going to find them!" Tamora said, slamming the book in front of her closed.
"No you are not!" Chris shouted back at her.
"No!" Wyatt stood up abruptly.
"Alright!" Tamora said aggressively but admitted defeat.
Before anyone could say anything else, Paige orbed in. Her eyes were puffy and she looked broken. The once hopeful Halliwell was powerless and beaten. Wyatt let out a sigh of relief when the orbs appeared but when he saw the expression on his aunt's face, he was filled with dread.
Coop looked up. "Where's Phoebe?"
Paige shook her head.
"Oh my god!" Prue croaked.
"Mom?" Chris asked hopelessly. But when he saw Paige shake her head again he felt like he was falling, plummeting, being consumed by an endless abyss.
Paige was crying now. "I'm so sorry. I couldn't save them".
"That's not good enough!" Chris screamed at her.
His words hurt Paige, even though she knew he didn't mean them, because they were a reflection of what she was feeling.
They were all too focused on the news to realise that the room was getting a lot colder. Ice was forming on all the surfaces.
"What's going on?" Wyatt questioned, because now ice spikes were shooting up out of the ground. "Who's doing this!?"
Suddenly it clicked. Wyatt looked astounded at Prue. "Prue what are you doing?!" Wyatt was backing away now because ice spikes where shooting up around her.
"Prue, how are you doing that!?" Chris asked, a little scared of his cousin's new powers. Everyone was staring at her now.
"I don't know what is happing to me!" Prue whined. She panicked and accidently shot ice from her hand at Chris, who was standing in front of her. Chris dodged it but narrowly.
Prue was terrified and shooting ice in all directions without any control. Wyatt tried to get to her but was sent flying across the room by a blast of solid ice. "I'm so sorry! I cant control it!" she sobbed.
"Prue, you've got to calm down!" Chris cried out at her but she wasn't listening. She just kept panicking and freezing everything near her.
"At least we're in magic school. She cant hurt anyone here" Kat said optimistically.
"Yeah just us!" Tamora said irritably, as she dodged another ice ball.
"It hurts!" Prue said, crying out. "I can feel all this pain!"
"What is she talking about?!" Chris yelled across the room.
"She's an empath!" Paige replied.
"How do you know that?" Wyatt asked suspiciously, knowing his aunt must be hiding something.
"I can't explain now. This is more important." Paige avoided another uncontrolled ice ball. "I need Coop to take Parker and Peyton to their dorms. Their pain is just adding to Prue's."
Coop beamed Parker and the unconscious Peyton out of the room.
Looking down at an open book and seeming pleased, Bianca came into the room and was propelled across
it and into a book shelf, by a blast of ice. "Ahh. What was that!" Bianca looked up and was stunned when she saw Prue. "When did Prue get powers!"
"Just now!" Chris replied. "She's really powerful. She's more powerful than all of us."
Chapter 3
A few hours, a pep talk from Leo and everyone being as optimistic as possible later, and Prue was feeling better. Granted, the room was still freezing cold but ice spikes weren't shooting up from the ground. Leo had explained that her power was Cryokinesis and had come from her great aunt, P. Bowen.
"Ok, now can someone explain how I have powers all of sudden?!" Prue asked with accusation in her voice. "And how you knew I was an empath!?" she didn't want to believe that her aunt could keep something as important as this away from her. She didn't like to admit it but she had always felt like a burden to her family because they had to protect her but more importantly she felt like an outcast. They went on missions and when one of her cousins got a new power or developed it well they got praised. She had envied all of them, especially Chris because of how close they were.
"Take my hands" Paige said to her as she held them out.
"Why?!" Prue asked her, she was confused now but she walked over to Paige and held out her hands to take her aunts. Everyone was now watching the two of them.
"Because then you might begin to understand" Paige replied, with regret and sorrow that Prue had never seen in her aunt before, so she obeyed.
The second her hands touched Paige's, she felt a shock go through her. She wasn't in magic school anymore, now she was looking at a scene that she could tell was a few years ago, because her mother was younger. Then she noticed that her mother was trying to comfort a little girl who was curled up in the corner of her bedroom, which surprised her, but when the girl moved into the light she saw it was herself. Except she was about four or five and she was begging for her mum to make something stop. Prue was confused, she couldn't imagine what could be making her this upset. Her aunt Piper and Paige were in the corner looking solemn and they didn't seem surprised to see her younger self so distraught. This confused Prue even more. Her aunts had always been extremely protective of her but instead they just looked hopeless.
She then turned her attention to her younger self because she was screaming out again. "No! Don't hurt him!" she cried out but to her shock her younger self had her eyes closed and she was doing what her mom did when she had a premonition! She must have had premonitions too but that didn't explain why she had gone another fifteen years without them. "No! They killed him mommy! You have to make it stop!" her young self screamed.
Her mom seemed to be feeling even more heartbroken than her aunts, as she whispered "I'm going to make it stop sweetie." She stroked young Prue's hair and got up to stand beside her sisters. Then they started chanting,
"I take your hands in mine,
And with this string I will entwine
Your powers I shall forever bind
From now until the end of time
And the vision started to fade away.
