Batman Beyond Verse

"I don't get it,"

"Hardly a surprise McGinnis." Damian stated bored out of his mind as he threw down his cards. A straight flush, but Dick probably had a better hand. The man always did.

"I mean, you let my brother in and he's waay younger than I am. I'm Batman for god's sake, surely that's got to count for something!" Terry exclaimed. The other ex-robins turned to look at him with varing degrees of interest.

"It's a very, specialised kind of invite." Tim said scratching the back of his neck.

"Very special. Oh look at that, a full house, pay up demon spawn." Jason stated with glee. His first win of the night without resorting to underhand tactics.

"And you're batman," Dick said throwing down his cards as well. This round hadn't gone in his favour. "I think I'm going to call it a night."

"Forfeiting Grayson? I thought you a man of your word, first one to bankruptcy, that was the deal right?"

"We've stayed up much later twinkle toes. Sit your tush down and take this like a man."

"Yes well you guys don't have a cranky commissioner to report to, at least Jim was forgiving of late night excursions." Dick said yawning in the process.

"One more round Dick? Please?" Tim asked. They spent little time as it was with Dick, what with Barbra being promoted and the new baby on the way. The eldest just had too much on his plate.

"Er, hello? DID YOU ALL JUST IGNORE ME AGAIN?!" Terry asked, rather annoyed.

"Did you say something McGinnis?" Damian

"You guys are the worst brothers in existence." Terry huffed crossing his arms over his chest. Bruce choose that moment to enter the room and at once all four of the ex-robins sat straighter. The look of disapproval on his face at the sight before him was enough to make them feel guilty of any imagined crime.

"It nice to see that my sons are wasting away my money whilst Power's is trying to take over my company." Bruce's steely voice echoed into the chamber. The boys hurriedly wrapped up the game and a grumbling mumble from Jason about the cash 'only being monopoly money' was largely ignored.

The robins filed out one by one, each leaving a parting sting as they left.

"It's a robin only kind of deal." Tim said sympathetically

"That's why none of us became Batman, loss of privileges and all that," Dick said, patting the lad on the shoulder as he moved out of the cave.

"Do not worry McGinnis, even Father has not been inside. I'm sure that the two of you can bond over it or something." Damian's condescending voice did nothing to lessen the sharp pain that the exclusion had left him with.

"If you ever go even think about going into that room, just remember, we know where you live. We were trained by the best, and we will show no mercy." Jason threatened, his six foot something figure leaning over him menacingly as he slowly put on his blood red helmet. Only when the roar of the motorcycle engine had died out did he dare breathe again. There was one really messed up Robin.

"So what was the room like?" Terry asked, trying not to sound too interested in the whole thing

"SO awesome, shame you have to miss it bro." the excitement in his eyes only made Terry feel worse. "Robin's nest is way better than the stinky BatCave!"
