A/N: SO this takes place sometime after 'When Wings Break'
Jason climbed down the stairs of the manor. The boy wonder looked around in awe, there were Christmas decorations everywhere. Evidence of Tim and Damain's handiwork littered the banister and the tree, by gods the tree. It stood tall in the foyer, its tip almost brushing the chandelier, covered in tinsel of gold, red, sliver, and light blue. The ornaments hung at even spaces, each worth more than Jason cared to imagine.
It was his first Christmas after the incident, the first one that he was participating in anyway.
Dick turned to Jason, "What do you say?" his face lit up with mischief and in the shadow of the tree Jason couldn't help but agree to his crazy plan.
"Fine, but I'm not dressing up as any elves, got that goldilocks?"
Dick just chuckled. Mentioning to Jason to follow him up to the roof and place all of the lights around the manor, then down into the attic to wrap up the gifts and presents. Jason lost himself in the task, the images of what could have been far away from his mind he methodically wrapped the gifts. It was a skill that Alfred had taught him, one that Dick had yet to learn by the looks of his chaotic mess. Jason just rolled his eyes at the attempts. "Seriously Boy Blunder, don't you ever learn?"
"Hey! It's not that bad, right?" Dick and Jason glanced at the box that Dick had been trying to wrap. Half of the box appeared to be covered in several haphazard layers, the rest was covered in tape. And Jason could have sworn that the box had ripped open at some point, the console underneath was partially visible.
"Yea, not bad at alllll." Jason scoffed sarcastically, arms crossed over his chest, "I'm sure that Tim and Damain would never figure out that it was you." Jason rolled his eyes and unfolded his arms. "Gimme." Dick handed over the monstrosity and Jason carefully unwrapped the gift and started over. Honestly, couldn't Dick have been more careful? Sheesh.
"Well if you got this covered, I'll go and get the costumes ready. Alfred should be almost done." Dick replied.
"Not an elf!" Jason yelled as his brother bolted out of the room. Dick's cackle was all that he heard in response. Jason just shrugged to himself, he could always get his brother back later and this was relaxing in a way.
(Around midnight on Christmas Eve)
Dick and Jason were on the roof using halves of coconuts to mimic the sounds of hooves racing across the roof of Tim and Damian's respective rooms. Jason was surprisingly having fun. The only down side was that he was in a Rudolf costume and Dick kept snickering at him.
"Do you have to do that?" He asked as Dick started off another round of laughter.
"You look hilarious."
Jason blushed, "yea well at least I'm not a pathetic excuse for a legal adult who goes around wearing elf outfits - made for girls."
"Oh, you like?" Dick asked making a weird pose. And slipping on a loose roof tile, crashing into the rook with an almighty thump (Jason winced, there was no way that wasn't going to bruise) and causing enough ruckus to wake the youngest two up. Both the eldest stilled and waited.
Then the light in Tim's room came on.
"Shit they're awake!" Jason said scrambling towards the entrance to the attic and down in to the manor.
"Holy- sugar honey iced tea. Run for it!" Dick half-yelled, picking himself up and dashing for the same entrance.
"This way! I heard them this way Dami!" Tim's voice could be heard.
"Crud, where to now?" Jason asked suddenly feeling very cornered and out of breath.
"Quickly to the Robin Room!" Dick gestured dramatically, wasting time that they didn't have.
"Nest!" puffed Jason as the duo rounded the corner over where the room was located, before swiftly bolting through the open door.
"Whatever!" Dick said flippantly as he followed suit. Hurriedly closing the door and trying to remove the costume at the same time.
"Well you're the one who came up with the stupid name, least you could do is remember it!" shoving his costumes and coconut halves into the nearest closet.
"Can we discuss this later? We have the dreams of our innocent brothers to protect!"
"Hah! Like the demon brat and the hacking genius are innocent." Jason said trying to wrestle the sleeping bags out.
Dick made a funny movement with his body before helping the second eldest. "You know what I mean."
The two had just about got everything sorted when the door opened once more with a bang. "Graython, where thanta?" demanded Damian his missing teeth giving him an adorable (at least to dick) lisp.
"Hahahaha, err sorry buddy I don't know anything about any Santa and stuff, right Jase?"
"What goldilocks said, now get back to bed 'fore Bruce finds out."
The two youngsters headed out of the room. Tim could be heard encouraging Damain that they'd get Santa next time for sure. Just before the two eldest could relinquish themselves to the arms of sleep a shadow appeared out of the darkness. "It has been done." Was she said before melting back into the shadows. Jason looked at dick weirdly after his heart had done jumping about like a caged rabbit in his chest. "And what exactly did you get Cass to do?"
Dick just laughed in response and went to sleep, encouraging Jason to do the same and not to worry about it.
