Chapter 5
Kensi POV
She couldn't believe what she was seeing, this house was amazing it might not seem like her type of house from the front but as she moved farther into the house she could tell that there was a mix of both herself and Deeks throughout the house. After being taken on a tour of the house Deeks headed out to the back yard, where there was a large outdoor dining area with a kitchen, what seemed to be an overly large pool, a fair amount of lawn for Monty and Kota to play on and ocean views.
To be honest, Hetty as per-usual had out done herself. It was like she handpicked this property for them, even if that sounds a little creepy Kensi thought to just go with the lovely gift that Hetty had given them.
As the day progressed I slowly got used to being in this house and started to familiarise myself with where everything was and which hallway lead to where. Baby steps. The mid-day had gradually turned into a peaceful quiet evening. With the sun fully set it finally dawned on Kensi that she had barely eaten all day and should probably make something for herself before her inner hangry self comes out to play. Within a less than five minutes for Kensi to realise that she should eat some food Deeks came up the stairs and told her that dinner is ready. As she followed Deeks down the stairs the smell of freshly cooked lasagne and garlic bread came wafting through the hallway.
After eating proper actual food for the first time in what felt like forever Kensi was happy to watch the world go by around her, Deeks made his way into the Kitchen with the dishes. She got caught up in staring at how he moved effortlessly in the kitchen, she was so focused on what Deeks was doing that she didn't even notice the small tug on her shirt. She can out of her trance a little bit confused as to what was happening, when she looked down she found Kota standing waiting to get her attention.
Kensi moved from where she was sitting to pick the little girl up, with that Kota let out a small yawn that told Kensi exactly where she needed to go. Holding Kota close to her chest she started to make her way to Kota's room where she could put her to bed. Before Kensi could even walk into Kota room she started wriggling and squirming in Kensi' arms. Confused about what Kota was trying to do Kensi placed her on the floor and watched as Kota started running (stumbling on tried legs) in the complete opposite direction, after following Dakota into her bedroom… her and Deeks' bedroom she realised what was finally happening.
Kensi turned just in time to see Kota jump up and try to climb her way up the bed, but it didn't work. It ended with Kota back on the floor staring up at the bed like it was her worst enemy. Kota turned her head towards Kensi and held her arm up with a simple demand coming from her small frame. "Momma…up" walking over to her baby girl, Kensi easily lifted Kota onto the bed. Kensi followed shortly after she changed into some shorts and an old shirt that had a faded LAPD print on it. After hopping into bed Kota immediately lunched herself at Kensi, with little time to brace Kensi took the hit with small smile on her face, as she realised that she couldn't be happier in this moment. Snuggling with her daughter that she has slowly began to know again. It didn't take long for Kota's breathing to even out and for her muscles to relax, Kensi moved to turn off the light but before she could move from out of the covers Kota's grip tightened on her shirt and a small whimper slipped from her lips. Deciding that Kota needed her more she stayed in bed until she slowly fell asleep, snuggling her daughter close to her.
Deeks POV
That is how Deeks found his two-favourite people in the world, snuggled together in his and Kensi's bed. He quietly moved around the room turning the light off and heading to the bathroom to shower. When he came out of the shower their positions hadn't changed they seemed at peace in their own little world.
Before climbing into bed next his wife and daughter he grabbed his phone from the desser and took a photo of this moment capturing it forever. He changed it to his lock screen then put the phone on charge before climbing into bed.
He felt like their house had become a home again. With Kensi back all was right in the world, sure she wasn't completely back to his loving wife, but she was going at her own speed through her road of recovery and he realised how accepting she was of everything. She was definitely not the same Kensi that would run from her feelings and pretended that everything was fine. In fact, he thought that this wasn't a completely new Kensi. Yes, over the years that they've been together growth has happened for both of them but even the Kensi that left for that OP would still be a little more hesitant about and handsome shaggy man showing up with the most adorable child in the world and saying "omg baby your awake we missed you so much… or hey I'm your husband and this little angel is our child" either way most people would freak out a little more of they couldn't remember being with someone and having a child with that someone and then having to try and fill in the gaps of missing time in your life.
After his mental brainstorming, he decided to leave it at that just thoughts. He climbed into bed and started feel himself relax, his arms automatically wrapped around Kensi and Dakota and them toward him. He drifted off into deep, consuming sleep filled with images of his gorgeous wife and little baby girl. He unconscious-self dreamed of Kensi getting back her memories and their lives going back to the way they used to be as well as thinking about what the future may hold.
