Yusuke Urameshi was a famous Spirit Detective known for taking down the strongest opponents: The Demon Rando, The Four Saint Beasts, Toguro, Sensui, and a heck of a lot more. He had the blood of the Mazoku within him. Fighting was second nature for him. With all that holding true, he was becoming overly pissed that he couldn't lay a single finger on a demon that just hid in the shadows laughing at him.

Kuwabara wasn't having any luck either, but the more the battle was drawn out he started to lose his cool. Blinded by his frustration he started slicing his Spirit Sword in any direction and running through the building with no real purpose. All the while the echoes of hyena-like laughter reverberated around the two fighters.

What was even more frustrating was their whole purpose of barging in the front door was to be a distraction, to draw out all the security in the hideout, so that the others could focus on finding Koren. Yet so far, they only encountered this one demon, who was having a good time playing with them.

"I've about had it up to here with this stupid laughing," Kuwabara yelled.

"And a lot good that's going to do us," Yusuke snapped back referring to Kuwabara's outburst. Immediately after he shook his head as to clear his thoughts. Getting into a petty argument with Kuwabara wouldn't help them either.

Instead he began thinking of a new strategy and wishing that Kurama was there since he would have no problem figuring out what to do. He could use his Shotgun instead of the Spirit Gun to get a broader range, but the room was too big with too many places to dodge.

What about Kuwabara? If he used the Spirit Sword to get longer and roped it across the room...

"Kuwabara! You can still do that thing with your sword, right? You know, extend it and maneuver it?" Yusuke tried to say all of this quietly especially since the room echoed easily. Kuwabara looked offended.

"Who do you think I am? Of course I can!"

"Then put it to use now when I fire off my Shotgun," Yusuke snapped and wasted no time in giving off his attack. The room lit up with what seems like hundreds of little blasts. In that moment, Kuwabara was able to make out a shape that was hurriedly avoiding all the bullets of energy.

"Sword get longer," Kuwabara commanded and his Spirit Sword responded but extending across the room straight at the demon. There was a angry growl of pain, and the demon hid himself in the banisters leaving a puddle of blood behind him.

"Alright! Got him," Kuwabara celebrated. They knew the fight was over yet, but the tables had definitely turned. Both fighters eyed the banisters waiting for any sign of movement. A hiss bounced of the walls.

"I'm done playing with you," the voice growled.

"Yeah? Well, come down here and fight," Yusuke answered in his magnificent way of being pissed off, cocky, and sarcastic.

Then the air surrounding the demon crackled in purple electric buzzes and darkness swirled around him. Shivers when up Kuwbara's spine. What he could not feel before he felt now.

"Um, Urameshi," Kuwabara stuttered, still surprised by the sudden change in energy, "I think he's definitely coming down."

Then the demon transformed from the tiny creature

into a massive monster towering over them. It stood on all fours hunched over from a huge shoulder blades almost how a hyena stalks around its prey. His fur even had a spotted pattern like the African predator would. His ears still resembled that of a bat, and no doubt would his hearing had improved. There would be no sneak attacks on this beast. What Yusuke and Kuwabara noticed above all were the giant and long needle sharp teeth and massive talons.

This fight really had just begun.

"Which way to Lady Koren, Ryoko," T'challa asked his companion as they ventured down another hallway. The two angels made it into the building with complete ease, but slowly made their way through a few corridors. Both had been trained to exercise caution and familiarize yourself with your surroundings.

Everything was deserted. Calm. And eerie.

The Sir Angel found it strange that a fortress was left wide open, but he wouldn't doubt Ryoko. He was well aware that she seemed careless and in her own head most of the time, but he knew the truth. Often he would wonder how many ancient texts had her eyes seen and what all Lady Rhiannon had taught her.

Ryoko wasn't just chosen at random. She along with other angels who held a special talent to learn and use endless incantations had been chosen at birth by The Universe to possess such a gift. He hadn't expected The Guardian angels to send another after him, but he wasn't surprised that it was Ryoko.

"She's up higher than where we stand," Ryoko responded, her voice far away like she was in a daydream. "There are others here...some closer than others...like there."

Instantaneously she had a hand raised, palm opened forward, with green orbs of destructive nature blasted at a target. T'challa was taken aback, but after seeing a figure duck back around the corner he went into combative mode. His skin hardened disrupting his human appearance by soft flesh looking like marble. He shot after the mysterious target with unnatural speed. Of course, Ryoko had appeared like a trick in the light before he stepped into place.

A grotesque demon stood before them. He had a stone like appearance similar to the hardness T'challa bore, but that's where the likeness ended. Terrible jaws wide open revealed a large tongue with drool freely dripping down. Its yellow eyes looking bloodshot stared at them head on with no real consideration for them just awareness.

"This is one of the demons who stole away Lady Koren," Ryoko revealed. Her voice held its softness, but it was cold like a slicing burst of wind on a bitter winter night.

"Then he will be dealt with for disgracing our Lady," T'challa decided.

He was on the offense appearing before the demon quickly readying a rock-hard fist for a strike. The golem demon's eyes lifted up the angel before him without much alarm. He just watched. Anger flared within T'challa's chest at the demon's indifference, and his pride decided to teach the creature something about angel strength. His attack was on target, but as soon as his fist was about to make contact, the demon disappeared. T'challa pulled his fist back without a growl as he landed on his feet. The demon had just vanished without a trace of spiritual energy lingering. A second passed by until Ryoko gasped, "Behind us."

With haste, both angels turned shock clear on their faces at how the demon could escape so quickly and with ease then reappearing almost right under their noses. He stood on the opposite end of the hall like something a poor child would have nightmares of staring at the angels with that disturbing gaze.

"More angels," he grunted around his tongue and fangs, "Severo's going to pay more for these."

Fierceness appeared in both angel's faces at the demon's words. They were not assured of two things: this was one of Lady Koren's kidnappers, and they and the entire angel race were insulted. With no need to confirm out loud, Ryoko and T'challa would work together to set their opponent and anyone associated with him straight.

And make their angels proud.

The unknown woman stopped and turned her head as if she was listening for something. Kurama waited for her, eyeing her curiously over his shoulder. She hadn't spoken to him since leaving the rooftop, but he could feel her distrusting gaze behind him as they wandered down the warehouse floors. He supposed she suspected him to betray her but in the mean time was putting off fighting in hopes to come across who she came here to find.

She mentioned a Severo, Kurama recalled as he thought over their exchange on the roof. He wondered over the mysterious Severo. Was he human or demon? Was he mastermind or pawn? What was his part in abducting Koren?

"We may come across some trouble," her voice cut through his thoughts. She was looking at him now with concern mixed with that same determination from earlier.

"What kind of trouble," Kurama asked.

"You must have missed it," she murmured first before answering his question, "There was a shift in the atmosphere. There is a demon in this city that can transport through space and time where ever he wants, and that shift tells me he's here."

"What other abilities does he possess and does he work with others," Kurama pressed. The memory of demons suddenly appearing during Koren and Kuwbara's fight came to him. She shook her head.

"He's not the most impressive fighter," she sighed. "Yes, he's part of a gang, and their specialty has to do more with trickery...that doesn't mean they aren't dangerous. If you see a small bat demon, stay on your guard." As she spoke she took a brown hair tie out of her jean pocket and started wrapping her hair in a thick bun on top of her head. Ringlets of baby hair stuck out in front of her ears framing her face. Kurama got the impression she did this in preparation for "the trouble" she had mentioned.

"Those are the demons who took my friend," Kurama decided to reveal. He was putting a lot of faith in the girl's knowledge and decided that sharing more of his predicament would prove to be fruitful. At the very least she appeared empathetic.

"I'm not sure why they would want her, but I'm very sorry," she said sadly. Kurama felt uneasy at her words and tone. It was like she knew Koren's fate was grim if not already decided.

"My friends and I will save her," Kurama reassured her somewhat too harshly. She smiled a tight line not seeming convinced.

"How many of you came here," she inquired.

"There are five of us, and we're all capable of combat," he revealed. There was another moment of silence between them. Both contemplated on different aspects of their own missions. Above all else Kurama wanted to establish an alliance.

"I think now is the time for formalities," he began steadily, " if we're going to work together, we should be able to refer to one another. My name is Kurama."

He would of been foolish to think she'd accept his proposal easily. Her empathetic expression reverted back to untrusting hardness. He wished he knew more as to why she was here. Why was Severo the enemy? She was able to sympathize with him, so did she have someone who suffered a fate worse than Koren's? He didn't know how to further convince someone of who he knew nothing.

"Please," was all he could say. Again she sighed, but this time like she was internally kicking herself.

"My name is Reggie."

Kurama genuinely smiled.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance, Reggie."

"...you too, Kurama."

"Two of 'em are fighting Raymond," Tony started listing off sounding bored, "Bud went to go see the other two that came in from the side. There was a red head, but we're not sure where he went off to."

"Oh?" Severo raised a brow not seeming impressed with Tony's report.

"Well, I would have Vinnie go look for me, but you got him preoccupied with the angel," Tony replied waving his hand like batting away a fly when he mentioned the angel.

"You couldn't go find him then," Severo stated. He was sitting back in an armchair, legs crossed loosely, studying some paperwork from God knows what. They were in one of the many rooms of the abandoned warehouse not too far off from where Koren was. In fact, they could faintly hear her screams from whatever torture Vinnie was trying now.

"That's why I have my guys," Tony replied gruffly. Severo wasn't surprised. There didn't seem to be anything special about the demon except for his leadership skills (if you could call them that). He sighed dramatically, "Then, pray tell, what are you going to do?"

"Sit back and wait. He'll show his face eventually," Tony chuckled darkly as he exited the room. Severo was left to contemplate his documents, but his mind was preoccupied with his unwanted guests. They were here for his angel.

His angel. His angel. His Angel.

The paper crumbled into his fist, and his body was shaking with rage.

He would not lose her.

A/N: I pushed really hard to get this out. This part of the story isn't the main point of the story. Just some drama and relationship building. And maybe a set up for a side story...?

So, my name is Reggie. It might be weird to have a character based off of myself, but I used to hate my name. I just thought it was an ugly name for a girl, and never would I have used it for a character. But here I am embracing it and using it in a story I am so proud of.

I hope you enjoyed this story. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read it, and I hope you can leave me some thoughts in the reviews. Thanks again!
