In January the school had re-opened and the boys returned to class. Rodolphus accompanied them as he had been asked to take over transfiguration. He joked it was to chaperone, but with a baby on the way, he and Bella wanted to create a life. Andromeda helped her sister prepare for the baby. Their son Rabastan Cygnus Lestrange, named for his paternal Uncle and maternal grandfather, was born three days after Harry's birthday. Considering her age and how rough the delivery was, Bella and her husband knew it would be their only child. Viktor came to school in the fall to help coach, while playing professional. Even with baby Rabastan, Rodolphus was a present chaperone. Draco and Pansy found he was not better with them. Rodolphus backed off a bit when they hit seventeen and entered their senior year of twins who had opened a shop in town often joked they should thank the man. Harry who had helped fund the store a bit, had been helping create products too, and some were inspired by getting around the man. He never took any money for his work or pay back for his investment in the shop either.
End of seventh year saw Draco top boy, while Harry head boy. Draco headed off to law school in London, planning to work with his father. Harry had decided against league quidditch though he joined the national team. In the fall he was apprenticing with the defense teacher and in two years would take over. The teacher was an auror who wished to return to the field. By nineteen Harry was looking at his future. Many of his friends were married including the twins, and Draco proposed at Halloween. He had no idea Viktor was thinking the same thing.
The day after the end of first term Viktor found Harry in his office. "I thought we could head into town."
Harry smiled as he finished the last paper. "We are meant to be at the manor later."
Viktor reminded him as Harry joined him. "Not until dinner."
Harry pulled on his cloak. "I am surprised your parents aren't coming."
"The two of us are going there for New Years so they decided to stay home."
Harry was reminded of their plans. "Still be a change."
"Decided on a quiet holiday with all the kids at the manor."
Harry smirked. "They have been around my siblings and cousins plenty."
Viktor reminded him. "May have got wind the Weasleys were invited."
Harry broke into laughter. "I don't think Bill and Percy's daughters are that bad just yet."
Viktor reminded him. "Your siblings and cousins are becoming more marauder like with every year."
Harry grinned at that. "Father and Uncle Sev mutter that a lot."
Viktor pulled him into a kiss. "At least I got the sensible offspring for when we have kids."
Harry pulled back. "When we have kids? Did I say we would have kids?"
Viktor nipped him on the nose. "Or I will just have to run off and find a new man."
Harry reminded him. "Uncle Rodolphus wouldn't leave you alive to do so."
Viktor's response changed when Harry was surprised to see a carriage. "I thought easier to get to the train."
Harry was reminded the train was running for teachers. "I thought we were taking the bus."
Viktor helped him into the carriage. "Anxious for all the noise?"
In reality as he got Harry settled, they would not be taking the train. There would be plenty of people at the manor, even though dinner wasn't for a few days time. The Weasleys would be there tonight even though Harry didn't know that. Ron and Ginny were the only siblings single. Bill and Fleur had a daughter Victoire who was two and another on the way. Charlie had married his partner Rodger in the spring. Like Bill, Percy had married shortly after Albus, and he and his wife had a six month old daughter. Fred and George had married Angie and Alicia in a double wedding that summer and Angelina was now pregnant with George's first. Ginny had been released last fall from the hospital, and was living with her parents for now. She had received some education when she was in the hospital. It would be some years before she might move out. They had found her some work in town and she was slowly getting her life back.
Viktor was hoping that the waiting guests would be an engagement party for the two of them. He had asked Harry's dads for their blessings to propose and had been given it. His parents were in fact in town though Harry had no idea.
Harry was confused as the carriage took them away from the town or train. "Where are we going?"
Viktor smiled. "Maybe they got their directions wrong."
"They do this trip all the time. What are you up to?"
Viktor played coy a bit but he revealed a basket. "I thought a bit of a detour."
Harry watched him take out hot chocolate. "The train will be leaving."
Viktor reminded him. "You reminded me we had other ways to get home."
Harry was happy to accept a cup. "They may hold up the train."
Viktor pouted. "If I had known you'd prefer a train to my company I'd not have planned this."
Harry turned and kissed his pout. "No, I definitely want to enjoy. Just surprised."
Viktor covered him with a blanket. "Good. I'd rather not find another man in town."
Harry was amazed when the sleigh took a ride along the banks of the black lake. "Its so different at winter."
Viktor agreed. "Different then just seeing it from the castle windows."
Harry was surprised when they stopped and Viktor helped him out and turned their boots into skates. "Is the ice safe?"
Viktor led him on to the ice. "I made sure."
Harry had only skated at the manor at home. "At least no audience."
Viktor held him close. "Better then before."
Neither was that graceful but they had both enjoyed skating the previous winters at the manor. And were both better then in the past. Harry had a feeling something was up but wasn't quite certain until they came to an area and Harry saw what Viktor had been hiding. Viktor used a spell to reveal not an ice palace, but to his laughter, an ice hut, out on the water. It looked like an ice fishing hut Harry had seen in photos, but actually made from ice. He was amazed when inside he found a roaring fire but there was a table with a lunch waiting for them. Harry smiled at the food which reminded him of the Yule ball food. He thought it a bit fancy for lunch, especially out here.
He looked at Viktor. "What have you done?"
Viktor smiled. "I thought you would enjoy."
"This is amazing but I know you are up to something."
Viktor agreed. "I thought about taking you away to do this, but it might not be so romantic."
Harry laughed. "Chaperones."
Viktor agreed. "So I thought to bring the winter wonder to you."
Harry was amazed as Viktor knelt. "Vik?"
"I have loved you for so long. You are my world, my life. Marry me."
Harry was in tears as he nodded. "Yes."
Viktor slipped the ring on and pulled him down into a kiss. "You have made me so happy."
As they finished their lunch Viktor told him the ring had actually belonged to the Potter family. Sirius had provided it to Viktor to use. Harry was touched by the ring and the whole day. He was not shocked to find everyone at the manor later already knew and it was an engagement party. He was surprised but happy to see the Krums there as well. His dads were both beaming as they congratulated him.
Lucius laughed. "Two sons to marry off by the end of summer? Thankfully Adrian and Ella will give us time to recover."
Pansy and Draco were married that spring in her family gardens. Harry and Viktor had been happy to wait and have a summer wedding. The time was needed to plan besides it made sense. They both worked at school and had the time. Viktor no longer played for the national team, just the league, but Harry was on the national team so they had to wed in August. The league, which Viktor still played in, was out for four months. In the fall Harry would be the defense teacher himself, done apprenticing. The couple had chosen to marry in Scotland, at Potter Castle. Harry had a number of homes from his parents but it was the main. It was a compromise over marrying at one of their family manors. Scotland was home to them both for school and Viktor's quidditch, so it was the perfect spot. Harry would have Draco, Fred and Blaise while Viktor had two friends from school as well as having asked George. Ella and Lyra, who were eight and six, were asked to be flower girls.
The two of them were married not in the gardens but actually on the outer walls of the castle. They were wide enough to have two chairs on each side of the aisle running down it. It offered amazing views of the valley, and the lock the castle was on, as their décor. Their witnesses just fit up front with some creative positioning but was just the way they wanted. There was little décor other then some wild flowers.
Harry was presented by his dads. Sirius answered the minister. "We present our son."
The minister turned to Viktor. "Viktor Boden Krum do you take Harry as your husband, to be united through magic and oath, until only death may divide you two?"
Viktor was beaming. "I do."
"And do you Harry James Malfoy take Viktor as your husband, to be united through magic and oath, until only death may divide you?"
Harry was no better. "I do."
The minister turned to Viktor's friend. "Do you give witness to the vows and oaths made today by Viktor?"
Andrei handed the ring to Viktor as he said. "I stand as witness and guardian to this pledge."
Viktor slid the ring on Harry. "With this ring I pledge my oath to honor you as my husband and soul mate, till death takes us."
The minister turned to Draco. "Do you give witness to the vows and oaths made today by Harry?"
Draco handed a ring to Harry. "I stand as witness and guardian to this pledge."
Harry slid the ring on his fiancé. "With this ting I pledge my oath to honor you as my husband and soul mate till death takes us."
The minister turned to the audience. "Are there any with reason this oath can not be completed, speak now or forever hold your peace."
When no one spoke the minister smiled "I pronounce you husbands. You may seal it with a kiss."
Viktor and Harry happily kissed, thrilled to be husbands. They went with Draco and Andrei to sign the contracts to make it final. They were showered with flower petals as they headed down the aisle after. They were joined by their family for photos further along the walls, while their guests went to the cocktail party down in the courtyard. As Harry looked at his sisters, and his cousins, he hoped they would have a kid soon. They had decided they would try right away for their own. Harry would carry, and Remus would actually cover, when he needed leave.
The wedding moved inside to the grand ballroom where the Potters had often held parties and Christmas. Huge fireplaces dominated two walls, but there were windows out on the gardens on one of the longer walls. The windows and doors were open as a beautiful summer day.
Viktor led Harry on to the dance floor. "I think it is time we have our first dance."
Harry reminded him. "Usually after dinner."
Viktor shrugged. "May mean we can escape on our honeymoon sooner."
Harry laughed. "They have the portkey."
Viktor whispered in his ear. "Two weeks of just you and me alone."
Harry happily danced with his husband and returned the whisper. "No chaperones."
Viktor groaned as the song was ending. "Not like now."
Harry saw his mother in law and Andromeda coming. "Maybe it is time for dinner."
The boys did dance with their mother in laws, Andromeda standing in for Harry's, before they had dinner. The tables had been done in Slytherin colors, with old wood trenchers full of wild flowers. Crests of all three families hung on the walls behind the head table. The three course dinner was some of their favorite pub food, casual like the boys had wanted. And the band was not the quartet Draco had, but a more popular one. They danced after dinner and did stay long enough for an amazing show of fire works after by the twins before they took off. Harry was a bit worried when he found out Rodolphus and Bella had helped plan the honeymoon. But it seemed they had nothing to worry about when they found themselves on a beautiful secluded beach. They learned later, after hours of love making, they were not at a private home of sorts. They were at a villa that was part of a resort, in Bora Bora. They even had their own personal pool. They had privacy but the resort as well.
Viktor toasted his husband hours later. "To our life together."
It took three months after they were married but Harry found himself pregnant. He was so happy to announce to his family at the start of December. They had made a special trip to Bulgaria to share the news with the Krums. George and Angie had made the couple godparents to their younger son, having welcomed twins. Draco and Pansy had found out they were expecting just before Harry got married, and they had welcomed their first son in the end of April. Little Corvus Draco Malfoy had become Harry's second godson.
Harry had gone into labor mid August, a week after they had celebrated their one year anniversary. They had chosen to have their baby at school. Harry would be helping to tutor his classes and Viktor was coaching there. And it would be easier for the baby not to travel. The nursery at school and Potter Caste were identical, the castle having become their weekend home.
A day after he made his entrance, the baby was ready to head home. Harry looked to the door. "Where are they?"
Viktor hid a smile. "Where are who?"
Harry picked up his little son. "We both know we have escorts waiting."
Viktor led Harry towards the door. "They thought we could find out own way."
Harry didn't buy it. "They barely left out side last night."
Viktor looked down on his sleeping son. "I convinced them we could use some time."
"And that worked?"
Viktor looked around. "It seems."
"They are lurking some where."
Viktor agreed. "They are waiting for us in the rooms."
Harry laughed. "I am not surprised."
Harry could not wait to get his son home to his own nursery. They had refused to allow their parents to kidnap the nursery. They had worked hard to make it perfect for their son. Little Leo Viktor Malfoy-Krum looked like a mini Victor but he had his grandmother's green eyes. Harry could not choose between his dads to name his son. He chose Leo to honor Sirius, James and Remus, two his dads and third a godfather and Uncle, but also his mom, as the Gryffindor lion. A constellation it also honored Draco and the other Blacks. Draco had given him a bit of a hard time, naming his son after a lion since they were snakes, but all in good humor. Viktor was of course for his proud Papa.
Harry was surprised only to find their parents, Harry's Uncles, and his siblings waiting for them. He would have expected more. The family was anxious to see the nursery which the boys had hidden from them as well.
Harry smiled as he led the way into Leo's bedroom. "And here you go my Prince."
Lucius smiled as he looked around the room. "Didn't need us after all."
Viktor's mom laughed at their confusion. "Went all out on your own."
Harry shrugged. "Learned from the best."
Sirius looked at the zoo theme. "Reminds me of the nursery we…."
Harry was a bit pale when his dad trailed off. "Happier this time."
Lucius hugged his son when Viktor had Leo. "If we could change….."
Harry reminded his dads. "You did your best. Time to focus on happy moments."
As he looked at the murals with monkeys and animals, he did remember his room. He remembered living in a bedroom in his relatives home till he was eleven. He remembered other then days he came to the manor, being basically a prisoner no matter how nice the room. He looked at Leo and knew his son would have the world. His son though would have the same elf. Just as Draco had Dobby, his beloved nanny elf, helping with Corvus, Harry had Dibby. Dibby had been the elf who took care of him all those years. Their dads could have used either elf for Adrian and Ella but chose not to. They knew one day the boys would want to use them for their kids. Dibby was so honored to take care of Leo now.
Sirius watched his son lay Leo down in his bassinette and thought. "Finally the way it should have been."
An: Hope this was a good ending. Thought it brought full circle how the story began, with Harry's new nursery made for him at Petunia's.
I am looking for a challenge for a new story of my own.
