Franticly, Mac dashed down the stairs and made it outside to find Harm sitting on the steps chuckling. "Harm!" She said, when she saw blood oozing out of a gash on his shin.
He looked up at her, giving a lopsided grin. "I'm okay, just slipped and fell down the steps." Helping him stand, they made it up the steps and back into the cabin. His boxers, normally a crisp white, were wet and dirty.
"I heart a gun shot." She said, sitting him on the sofa and propping his leg up on the coffee table.
He nodded. "I had my finger on the trigger, when I slipped a shot went off."
"Was there anything out there?" Mac asked, walking to the kitchen to grab the first aid kit
"Fallen tree branch. . .that was all. Hello! Jeeeeeeez! You trying to kill me?" He said, pulling his leg from Mac when she had started to clean up the blood.
"Suck it up, squid. . ." She said with a chuckle, finally able to get the bleeding stopped. "Doesn't seem like you need stitches . . .But I should smack you and hard. . . you scared the HELL out of me." She put some gauze on the leg, after pasting antiseptic all over it. Again, he winced and she can't help but imagine how much trouble he must have been on his mother with his bumps and scratches.
Mac sensed Harm's gaze on her, watching her every move. When their eyes met, his lips curved into a bright smile that reached his eyes. "You are amazing, you know?" He said softly before pulling her into arms. "Sorry for scaring you."
"A kiss and I'll forgive you anything." Mac said with a mischievous grin. The sheet that was once covering her body fell away to the floor when he pulled her onto his lap. "I now understand why this didn't happen in Paraguay."
Sighing, he managed to pull Mac away before they were lip locked and wrapped the sheet around her. "I wouldn't have been able to protect you if we were both. . ."
"I know. . .I just. . ." Sighing, she looked off for a moment and frowned. "I thought you didn't want me."
"OH, I wanted you then. . . Very much, Mac. . .I just couldn't put you in danger in order to fulfill some sexual need." Harm moved his arms around Mac and started running his hands up and down her back, making sure she was okay with things.
"Everything happens for a reason." She said with a smile.
"When did you get so wise?"
"Eh, your traits are rubbing of on me." Grinning, she leaned forward and kissed him slowly. When they parted, both were grinning. "Think about it. . . we almost kissed when we were laying in bed together. Had it moved into something more. . . Who would have walked in on us?"
Harm shrugged, but nodded. "Webb and Gunny. . ."
"With us two in a very risqué situation." She pointed out, running her finger over the stubble on his face.
"Good point."
Mac slid next to Harm and continued a thought process that she didn't want to really think about until now. "And if it would have happened, we would have been forced apart. . ."
"I wouldn't have joined the CIA, if that is what you are thinking." Harm looked at her intently. He wasn't too sure of the statement, but it felt right at the moment.
"You don't know that. . . And you also wouldn't have met Mattie.."
He shook his head and then pulled her back close to him. "You think too much, Colonel." Harm pulled her back into his arms and started kissing her shoulder and neck. His body was telling him to move forward, but what rational thought was left in his brain told him that it was time to stop. "As much as I love making love to you. . . we have to stop."
Mac understood what he was saying and was not hurt by it. Harm was keeping her welfare as one of his top priorities. Eventually, they would have more time to explore the new twist in their relationship. Mac smiled and wrapped her arms around him. "I'll go get dressed then and you should hop in the shower."
Harm grinned. "Please do." He watched her run off and up the stairs. How he was going to resist her he didn't know. But he was sure going to try.
