EPILOGUE
"Phineas?" Isabella queried as she opened her dorm room door to see her beau standing before her. "Not that I don't appreciate seeing you, but why are you here at 6 in the morning, the day before classes start?"
She noticed Phineas was dressed in dark blue slacks and a burnt orange button-up shirt, a different style than his normal casual striped T-shirt and jeans. Smiling softly, he shrugged and looked away. Is that a bit of nervousness I sense in him? Isabella thought. But he's Phineas Flynn. He NEVER gets nervous. She was pulled out of her little internal reverie when Phineas spoke up. "Do you have a favorite dress you might wear if you were out on the town? If so, put it on and come back out here. I have a surprise for you."
"O…K," Isabella replied slowly, instead ushering Phineas in and closing her door as she contemplated the slightly odd request from him. However, after 14 years of living with the young man in her room, she knew every day had the potential to be a grand adventure, so who was she to decline? Entering her closet, Isabella selected a nice but simple pink cocktail dress, not too fancy or showy. When she left her bathroom wearing the dress and some complimentary light makeup, she asked Phineas, only half-jokingly, "Are we going to a fancy breakfast somewhere at this hour of the morning?"
"Close," Phineas responds with a cheeky grin, but before Isabella could say anything else, he gently grabbed her hand (causing her to blush and then inwardly curse her reaction) and pulled out his phone, saying "Go to Ferb."
The world disappeared in front of Isabella into the classic void of P&F teleportation. Intellectually she knew their movement anywhere should be instantaneous, but this transportation seemed a bit longer than previous ones. Even as this thought came to her head, the world reappeared in Isabella's eyes as a splash of colors, and she gasped as she recognized the vista in front of her.
"Welcome to Paris, lovebirds." Ferb winked as he left the two of them alone and walked away towards Nessa on the other side of the café underneath the Eiffel Tower. Isabella couldn't help but notice that his gait was slightly different due to the muscular implants received courtesy of Doof.
Isabella turned to Phineas, her eyes shining with unshed happy tears, but the only thing she could say was "You didn't."
Phineas grinned sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his neck. Isabella's eyes were drawn to his hand, which shook very slightly doing that action; his body never quite fully got over the trauma it had received during his captivity in the second dimension. We all carry our own marks, Isabella thought gloomily, but her mood brightened as Phineas began to explain their impromptu trip halfway across the world.
"I mean, Ferb was already in Europe, and he was completely OK with taking Nessa on a day trip here as well, even without the transporters. They've already had a great morning, since it's like 1:15 in the afternoon here."
Isabella took his hand and smiled the largest smile she might have ever shown Phineas on her face. "Well, I guess we'd better get started on our day then," before she looked down to peruse the menu.
We could share a crêpe sucrée, at this Parisian café.
Phineas immediately signaled to a waiter, who came over and asked "Que voudriez-vous manger?"
"Un sucré de crêpe, s'il vous plait," Phineas replied in barely accented French; once it came, Phineas smiled at Isabella and said "Dig in."
Take a break and smell these flowers, underneath the Eiffel Tower.
After they had finished their food, Phineas got a small gleam in his eye. He excused himself and quickly walked across the street, buying a bouquet of flowers and bringing it back to the café. "I saw these and just had to get them for you," he said, giving the flowers to Isabella, who simply replied with "Oh, Phineas."
Won't you share a crème brûlée with me?
Signaling the waiter again, Phineas asked for a crème brûlée for dessert, which arrived promptly along with the blowtorch. Isabella smirked and remarked, "Hey, that's a nifty little blowtorch," causing Phineas to grin.
How perfect will this day be?
In the City of Love
The other couples all around the café turned to the table where Phineas and Isabella were sitting and said in unison, "You're in the City of Love."
In the City of Love
Ferb piped up from across the room, his bass voice reverberating to their ears, "In the City of Love."
We could try some fancy cheese, or peruse the galleries
After leaving the café, Phineas stopped by a small fromagerie and ordered a few pieces of fancy cheese for them to share as they walked. Soon, they arrived at a local art gallery, and Phineas stopped before holding open the door for Isabella. "There's gotta be some nice paintings in here – let's go in."
Isn't this a perfect day? How do I look in this beret?
After exiting the gallery, Isabella took charge and dragged Phineas over to a haberdashery along the Seine, squealing as she was able to try on a bunch of hats, including a nice navy-blue beret. When she turned to Phineas wearing it, he just smiled and snapped a picture on his phone. "It looks absolutely perfect on you," he said, before producing some Euros and paying the salesman for the hat.
Oh, I know that he feels the same way, when we're strolling down the Champs-Élysées
From the haberdashery the two of them veered north and soon made it to the Champs-Élysées near the Arc de Triomphe; turning, they walked down the famous avenue towards the Place de la Concorde.
In the City of Love (In the City of Love)
As they walked around the Place de la Concorde, with the lovely Fontaine des Mers spouting water high into the air and couples casually tossing coins into its basin, Phineas wrapped his arm around Isabella and pulled her into a hug. With his head to her right, he whispered into her ear "Ma chérie, je t'aime."
Isabella smiled as she buried her head into his neck at his proclamation, whispering back, "I gitchee gitchee goo you too."
Right then he leaned in and whispered, "Ma chérie, je t'aime."
And I wanted him to know that I felt the same.
