It's the First Day of School Charlie Brown

Chapter 1: Summer Fun

It was the last day of summer vacation at the Peanuts Gang school, and Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, Linus, Schroeder, Stephen, Sally, Eudora, and Maria were on the playground while Pigpen, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, and Kristen were up in the tree house, enjoying the last day of fun before school starts again tomorrow. "Well Linus, only one more day until school starts." Charlie Brown said as he and Stephen observed their school janitor, Mr. Boyd, cleaning the school windows of the newly renovated school building.

"Yes, I'm aware Charlie Brown." Linus said. "But this is Stephen's very first school year as well."

"Well, at least one good thing will come out of tomorrow." Charlie Brown commented. Sally then stood in front of the school building.

"Well School Building, another school year is starting tomorrow." Sally said to the building, which Maria and Eudora were confused by. "I hope you're ready. That reminds me! Maria, can I borrow three dollars to buy a new desk?" Maria just giggled at that. "What's so funny?"

"Sally, you don't need to buy your own desk. Where did you get that crazy idea?" Maria asked with a smile.

"Really? Just wait till I catch the kid who sold me that one last year!" Sally huffed. Eudora then noticed Snoopy sitting on the playground.

"Do you always bring your dog to school, Charlie Brown?" Eudora asked.

"During school, no. But I thought he might enjoy being here, to see what it's like." Charlie brown answered.

"Where's Peppermint Patty and Marcie?" Eudora asked.

"They're up in the tree house with PigPen, Lucy, and Kristen." Schroeder said before they spotted Heather and Ashley, riding on their bikes into the school yard.

"Look big brother! Your girlfriend's here!" Sally teased. Charlie Brown smiled as he saw Heather riding side by side with Ashley.

"And there's Ashley!" Linus added with a smile.

"Hey!" Snoopy happily exclaimed.

"Hi Charlie Brown!" Heather exclaimed with a smile as the Barney doll rode in her bike basket.

"Hi Heather!" Charlie Brown yelled with a smile, making Heather giggle.

"Isn't it nice when we all get together?" Linus asked with a smile as they sung one of their favorite songs as they all passed Barney around.

Charlie Brown, Linus, Schroeder, Heather, and Ashley:

The more we get together

Together, together

The more we get together

The happier we'll be

Sally, Eudora, and Maria:

Cause your friends are my friends

And my friends are your friends

The more we get together

The happier we'll be

Sally then placed the Barney doll into a basket. The basket was then lifted by Lucy and Kristen into the tree house, then passed to Peppermint Patty, Marcie, and Pigpen.

Lucy and Kristen:

The more we get together

Together, together

The more we get together the happier we'll be

Peppermint Patty, Marcie, and Pigpen:

Cause your friends are my friends

And my friends are your friends

The more we get together

The happier we'll be

Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Kristen, and Pigpen then went downstairs to the playground and let Snoopy play with the Barney doll as they all sung one last verse.

Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

The more we get together

Together, together

The more we get together

The happier we'll be

Cause your friends are my friends

And my friends are your friends

The more we get together

The happier we'll be!

After the song ended, Snoopy kissed Barney on the head. Suddenly, the doll came to amazing life. "BARNEY!" The kids all exclaimed, giving the dino a big hug along with Snoopy and Woodstock.

"Hi everybody!" Barney smiled. "Wow! I feel like I've been up and down and all around!" The kids all giggled as they knew that was what they did with Barney as Stephen continued to look at Mr. Boyd cleaning the windows. "Stephen, what you looking at?"

"I was just looking at Mr. Boyd." Stephen answered. "He's getting everything ready for our first day of school tomorrow."

"Oh that's right! You're old enough to go to school this year!" Barney smiled.

"I sure am! I just wish I didn't have to wait until tomorrow." Stephen said with a smile.

"This upcoming school year has got everyone frazzled, Barney!" Sally said. "Even the school building's excited."

"The school building?" Barney asked.

"Sally likes to talk to it sometimes." Eudora said.

"Why don't you try it Barney? See what it says." Sally suggested with a smile.

"Okay! Maybe I will!" Barney smiled as he approached the school building. "Hello school building! Did you have a nice summer?" Barney then heard the school building talk back to him. "You did? Why that's very nice!"

"See? Barney can hear it too!" Sally said with a grin.

"Oh good grief!" Lucy and Charlie Brown groaned as Barney came back to them.

"We're all getting ready for tomorrow, Barney. Can I please share something that I wrote for the first day of school?" Linus asked.

"Why sure, Linus!" Barney smiled. Linus then pulled out a piece of paper from his back pack.

"No one can deny the joys of summer vacation with its days of warmth and freedom. It must be admitted however that the true joy lies within returning to our halls of learning. Is not like itself a learning process? Do we not mature according to our learning? Do not each of us desire that our teachers are opening our minds to a greater world?" Linus read, to which Barney and the others applauded.

"Why that was very nice, Linus!" Barney smiled.

"Thank you, Barney! I'm glad you liked it!" Linus smiled before facing Lucy. "As the years go by, you learn what sells."

"Hey, look who is here gang! It's BJ and Baby Bop!" Peppermint Patty pointed out with a smile as the seven-year-old and three-year-old dinosaurs approached the playground.

"Alright everybody! It's time for the fun to start! BJ's here!" BJ smiled as Barney, Snoopy, Woodstock, and their friends went up to greet them.

"Me too!" Baby Bop smiled. "Hi everybody!" Just then, Mr. Boyd came out of the school and smiled at seeing Barney, Snoopy, and the rest of their friends.

"Hey Barney! Hey Snoopy!" Mr. Boyd greeted. "Hi everybody."

"Hi Mr. Boyd!" Everyone greeted back as they walked up to see what he was up to.

"It's great to see you again, Mr. Boyd." Marcie smiled. "We can't help but notice you're busy making everything nice and clean."

"Well, tomorrow is a big day. I'm getting everything ready for the first day of school." Mr. Boyd explained.

"Nothing says learning like a nice clean school building." Linus smiled.

"And nothing says making it dirty and dusty like Pigpen." Schroeder commented, pointing to Pigpen who was standing right next to Snoopy.

"I've got clean thoughts." Pigpen explained, blushing.

"You know, I think it'll help our friend Stephen if we could go inside and take a little peek, if that's alright with you." Barney suggested.

"Why sure it is!" Mr. Boyd smiled as he opened the school doors. "Come on in and look around. I think you'll like what you see." Stephen then smiled as everyone grew excited over seeing the inside of their new classroom before school starts tomorrow.

"This should be fun, right Charlie Brown?" Heather asked with a smile as they began to follow Barney and Mr. Boyd inside the school building.

"Yeah. And it'll help Stephen get used to going to school." Charlie Brown said.

"This will be a great experience for us! A sneak peek at our new school building and classroom." Linus smiled, making Lucy frown before noticing Schroeder right behind her.

"You think our desks will be right next to each other?" Lucy flirted.

"I sure hope not." Schroeder groaned.

"Are you ready to enter the halls of learning, sir?" Marcie asked.

"As ready as I'll ever be, Marcie. But please quit calling me sir!" Peppermint Patty yelled.

As BJ and Baby Bop were about to enter last, BJ stopped in his tracks.

"Hey, where are you going?" BJ asked.

"I'm going to school!" Baby Bop pointed out. BJ sighed.

"Sorry Sissy, but you're not old enough for this school." BJ said as Sally and Eudora stopped in their tracks and watched what was happening.

"But, I've been in there lots of times." Baby Bop said.

"Yeah, but today we're sort of pretending that today is a real school day." BJ said.

"Really? Oh." Baby Bop sighed sadly.

"Hey! Why don't you go play up in the treehouse?" BJ suggested.

"Oh, yeah! I like the treehouse." Baby Bop smiled as BJ went inside. Baby Bop then peeked inside the door sadly. "But I think I would like school too." Sally and Eudora then turned around and approached Baby Bop.

"Don't worry, Baby Bop. We'll play with you." Sally said with a smile.

"You will?" Baby Bop asked.

"We will?" Eudora asked, a little scared. Ever since their camping adventure, she's been trying to get over her fear of dinosaurs and has been doing better.

"Of course. Who needs that stupid school building anyway?" Sally asked.

"Okay! The treehouse!" Baby Bop smiled, skipping over to the newly renovated treehouse. "I love the treehouse."

"You'll love it up in the treehouse, Eudora." Sally smiled. "They just re did it this summer. It has a slide, a table, and all sorts of other fun stuff."

"Cool! Let's go!" Eudora smiled as she and Sally headed up with Baby Bop.

Inside the school, everyone was looking around one of the classes in awe. Stephen especially was amazed. "WOW!" he exclaimed.

"Well, Stephen, what do you think?" asked Barney.

"This is really cool." Stephen replied.

"It's terrific, isn't it?" Barney smiled.

"There's my old seat!" Peppermint Patty stated, pointing to a desk.

"How do you know?" Lucy asked.

"I left six doughnuts in it before school was closed for the summer." Patty explained as everyone gagged.

"Why would you leave six doughnuts in a desk?" Kristen chuckled.

Patty thought about it. "In case I got hungry."

Stephen looked around in awe a bit more. "I think Stephen's gonna have so much fun here." Pigpen said to Barney.

"I think you're right." Barney replied.
