Sam slowly blinked open his eyes. He was really dizzy and couldn't remember why. His wrists were also really heavy, almost as if something was weighing him down. Suddenly, everything from the day before returned to him. It was then that he realized that he was in some metal cage with manacles around his wrists. A quick scan of his injuries left him with the conclusion that he had no injuries, though he was weaponless. Then he became worried. He took in his surroundings. It was a dark room, probably a basement. There was a little light, but not much. The cage was a cube with iron bars for walls. The room was totally bare from furniture, and the only structure in the room was the cage.

His eyes scanned the entire cage, really it was quite small, and took in a figure slumped in the opposite corner.

"Gabriel." He quickly moved closer to his friend. He was genuinely worried about the angel. Even though Dean still had a small grudge against the trickster, Sam had totally forgiven him.

He took in the sight of him. He had a collar with enochian sigils carved into it. Unlike Sam, he did not have manacles around his wrists. The angel was unconscious. His head was slumped against the side of the cage. After Sam approached him, he decided to shake him awake.

"Hey Gabe. Wake up."

The angel slowly opened his eyes. He looked at Sam confusedly before realizing what had happened.

"Sam, where are we?" Gabriel glanced around the cage before returning his gaze to Sam.

"I don't really know. Some sort of basement. I got knocked out a bit after you did. Got me from behind. Are you alright?"

"No. My Grace is bound, so I can't get us out of here. We don't even know where here is and who captured us." Gabriel looked up at him after a moment, with worry on his face. "Are you hurt?"

"No. What happened yesterday? You just fell over. Was it something from the demons?"

"Well, they had a sigil on a piece of wood. I think it was fushimoa, which means sleep. They must have used it to make me pass out."

"There are sigils to make angels pass out?"

"Why wouldn't there be?"

"I just never knew that until now."

Gabriel sighed and turned to look at Sam. "Well, we're stuck here together for the moment."

Sam was reminiscing of yesterday, when everything had gone so wrong. It had started out as a normal demon Hunter. Reports of bad omens had come their way. Dean had been out on another case with Castiel, so Sam had decided to go with Gabriel to check it out. The only question now was if Dean would be able to find them.

Just then, the door opened. A familiar looking man walked in. "Hello boys."

Sam finally put everything together. "Crowley."

"Yes Winchester, it's me."

"What do you want?"

Crowley looked at him disdainfully. "I want to use you as hostages. I need your brother's help."

Sam was interested in that. "What for?"

Crowley kept his gaze on Sam, not looking at Gabriel at all. It wasn't like he cared about the angel anyway. "I need him to bring me a live alpha for a project of mine."

Sam looked at him as he said that. "Why?"

Crowley smirked at him. "Because they might know how to find purgatory." He then turned on his heel and left, leaving Sam and Gabriel staring after him in shock.

Noticing Gabriels face, Sam turned to him and asked, "Gabe, why does he want to open purgatory?"

"For power." Was his only answer.

"How does finding purgatory get him power?" Sam was really confused at this point.

"Human souls are pure energy. Imagine what someone would do with access to millions of souls. If a being were to absorb all those souls and their energy, imagine how powerful they would get. Where can you find souls, other than heaven?"

Sam quickly came to the grim truth. "Purgatory." He replied with resignation. He began to wonder what Dean was up to at that moment.
