Chapter 11 Molly's Story Pt1
AN My dear readers. Due to health problems (starting at Christmas and I'm still not well) I haven't been able to write. Though I'm not to blame I do feel sorry it took this long to continue this story. I tried to finish it but Molly's story takes at least one chapter more. Enjoy reading.
"Alright guys, I will tell you about the Myrka and how we killed it, but I don't think it's wise to start there. After all, that's where it all ended." While heading back to the console room Molly said with a wink: "I will start with the beginning of the story but I like to go home first, sit on the couch, having my feet up and drink a nice cup of tea. Though I love to travel with the Doctor, time for a break is rare. There's always something going on what needs to be fixed and be sure that the Doctor and his TARDIS are on their way to fix it. And I am human. I need a break now and then."
Then John grinned at her and said: "Alright, just because I like tea either. And, though I like a good adventure, I really like to go home and let get things go back to normal again. Sherlock?" looking at him for confirmation.
Sherlock looked at John and Molly and started to laugh. A real genuine laugh. "You," pointing at Molly, "I never would have guessed you're such a tease. I thought I knew you but it seems I was wrong. There's always something" he said as an afterthought. "And you've kept me in the dark for years. You know I don't like long stories but for you I make an exception. You may even bother me with the tedious details." He smiled at her. "Come on, Molly, 'later' is now."
The three walked through the corridors towards the console room. Before they knew it they were jolted around and barely managed to stay on their feet before everything became silent.
"It seems we're home" Molly explained. "Come, let's have some tea."
As they entered the console room, Molly embraced the Doctor with a smile and thanked him for another adventure. Then she wandered off to the door en left the TARDIS. Sherlock and John watched this scene. John walked over and offered his hand to say goodbye, still not quite coping with everything he had encountered. The Doctor grinned at him and guessed that it certainly would take a while for John to comprehend. Then Sherlock offered his hand and sincerity was on his face. "Thank you Doctor." The Doctor looked at him and knew it wasn't just the adventure. No, it was the fact that John had been saved. "You're welcome," shaking his hand. Sherlock knew the Doctor understood his thanks. He gave him a smile and then turned around. Both men walked to the door and stepped outside the TARDIS. To their surprise they found themselves inside their flat. As they turned around they heard already the whoosh, whoosh and saw the TARDIS fading in and out before it disappeared completely. Then they noticed Molly already in the kitchen, searching for some clean mugs. When the tea was ready, John had also found some biscuits. Molly sat on the couch while John and Sherlock took place in their seats, looking expectantly at Molly. Molly looked at them, mischief in her eyes, slowly drinking her tea. Then she grinned and said: "Ok, I often said 'later', and 'later' is now:"
oooOOOooo
"I met the Doctor when I was 15 years old. It was quite by accident I guess. Though, with the TARDIS you'll never know for sure, because she does things, the Doctor doesn't even know why she does things."
"I was on my way home from school when I ran into the Doctor. I was quite sad that day because some bullies had harassed me. Again!" she said with a sigh "And deliberately they had demolished my schoolbooks. I knew my parents wouldn't be pleased because books are expensive and we weren't very rich and they knew I wouldn't give them the names of the ones who had done it. They knew I was afraid of them, but they couldn't help me. Unfortunately changing school was also not an option. So, they kept persisting that I should stand up against them cause I was important, smart and most of all, loved. I deserved to be treated with respect. I knew they loved me and I knew they would do anything to help me as best as they could, but I was very shy and I stayed that way. Until the day I met the Doctor."
"I hadn't seen the man, because I had tears in my eyes, so I just bumped into him and because of the impact I tumbled backwards and fell on the pavement. The man stretched out his hand and grabbed mine to raise me on my feet again."
"Hello," he said with a smile, "you're ok?" "meanwhile taking out of his coat some sort of pen with a blue light on the top and scanned me with it."
"You're crying. We didn't bump into each other that hard, did we? Why are you crying?"
"I looked at the man. Though his face showed compassion, confusion but most of all, curiosity, I saw a very handsome young man wearing a long coat which definitively made him very attractive. A dream for every schoolgirl. His brown eyes looked at me with concern. Then he looked at his pen, he 'mmmd' satisfactory and while putting it away, started smiling at me. He grabbed my hand again and shook it with enthusiasm."
"Hello," "he said with a big smile," "I'm the Doctor. Who are you?"
"His enthusiasm, smile and vibrance were contagious so I smiled back at him though I must admit, my smile was shy. After all, a handsome man like him. And me, little grey mouse had caught his attention. But he didn't see me like that at all. He saw the me I could become though I didn't know that at the time." "I'm Molly. Molly Hooper."
"Well, hello Molly Hooper, nice to meet you," "still shaking my hand. When he saw my shy smile, his smile became even bigger."
"Well, Molly, will you tell me why you cried?"
"Though I wouldn't confess that I had been bullied by some kids because I was too abashed to stand up for myself I told him everything. I thought it strange to trust a man I've never met before and open up my heart, forgetting everything my parents told me about strangers and walking as far and as fast away as possible from them. But in this case I knew instinctively that I could trust this stranger. That I was safe. Oh boy, how wrong was I about that last conclusion" she said with a grin looking at her two listeners.
"I think this is your lucky day," "the Doctor said, in the meantime picking up the remnants of my books and nattering to himself about the fact that he wondered why he loved humans so much cause they never stopped doing bad things to others. While giving me my book pile he concluded" "It seems to me that your books have been severely damaged and though I mustn't brag, I must admit that I have the biggest library in the universe. I'm certain that I have replacements for those damaged ones. Come with me?" "he asked with an expectant look upon his face."
"Well, to make the story short, I followed him. At a corner stood a blue telephone police box and he stepped inside. I can't remember what I thought that day but I'm still wondering why I stepped inside. After all, let's be honest. A stranger asking you to step inside a tiny box...? But... I went inside and... Well, you've seen it. I was overwhelmed. I'm glad you've seen it, otherwise how would I describe something like this. He stood by the console with a distinctive mischievous grin on his face, waiting for my remark."
"You've seen the TARDIS. It's bigger on the inside. That was after all my first remark when I entered it. And now I'm older I knew he was waiting for that remark. Almost everybody who steps in, makes that remark."
"I didn't ," replied Sherlock with a smirk.
"No, you didn't. But you have to admit that you've also been overwhelmed with the place. After all, I had to kiss you, to bring you back. Mmm," Molly continued as an afterthought, "I quite liked that." She grinned petulant. John grinned back while Sherlock looked a little embarrassed. He ordered: "do continue."
"What?" asked Molly innocently. "The kissing?"
Now John couldn't hold it any longer, laughing out loud looking at his friend's face. He looked quite flustered.
"Sorry, Sherlock, I couldn't resist" Molly said with a grin. He looked at Molly and she winked at him. Then he knew that though they laughed because of him, they also laughed with him. They were his friends and there was nothing they wouldn't do for him. He suddenly understood it and smiled back at them.
Then Molly continued her story. "We went to the library and I was overwhelmed by the place. I really can't find another word than overwhelmed. I'm sorry. You've been there too, so you know how big it is. He then walked straight over to a bookshelf and took some books from there. I asked if he had read them all. "Of course" was his reply, "why keep books if you don't want to read them. Then it would be a waste of space, wouldn't it." When I looked inside I saw a lot of notes written at the side making it easier to understand or giving more information about the subject."
"Are these your notes at the side?" "I asked."
"Of course," "was his reply," "those books were lacking information. So I added it. What is a book if it doesn't have the right information, than it is nothing more than kindling."
"On our way out we were passing by a table when my eyes were drawn to a cover of a book which was laying there. On the cover was a scene of green hills with very strange beautiful red flowers, an amazing blue river running in between but the eye catcher was the sight of shade planets in the sky standing above those hills. I stood still and held my breath. It shocked my core. Although I believed this had to be photo shopped or something, it still was a such a beautiful scene which talked of 'relax', 'enjoy', 'don't worry', 'feel safe' and other synonymies which would made you happy and content and in peace. When I finally looked up I saw his expression. One of understanding, but also with some mischief."
"Do you want to see it for yourself?" he said.
"What" "I'm sure I must have had a shocked expression on my face. Then he grinned while his eyes sparkled."
"Do you want to see the place where this picture is taken?"
"What do you mean, where this picture is taken! This is a real place?" I was flabbergasted.
"Oh yeah." He winked and walked back to the control room. I followed close behind, not wanting to get lost and when we got there he said to me: "Welcome in the TARDIS, which stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space, which means" he said excitedly "we can travel through time and space. If you want, I can take you to Berrows, that's the place you admired so much. The real thing is so much more. You should see those animals. All cats and dogs, but then with the size of cows. And the cows are the size of". Before he could finish his sentence I said "elephants?" He grinned "no, goats."
I was very excited but then I remembered that I had to be home before six. My excitement turned into disappointment and I declined. "I would love to, but I have to be home before six." I was heading back to the door until he stopped me by saying: "well, I did mention that I have a time machine, didn't I. Which means I can travel in time. Which means, we can go away for a holiday and still be back before six. What do you say. Do you want to go on an adventure?"
I couldn't believe it. I looked at him and then I really looked around inside the Tardis. Then it hit me that nothing I saw was earth material. Which meant that it had to be extraterrestrial. And if that was the case than I guessed that it was also common to travel through time and space. Why not. The fact that we couldn't didn't mean that they couldn't. Then I smiled at him. "Ok," I said, take me to Berrows and whatever strange places you want to show me. I don't care how long we are going to travel as long as I am back before six."
Then he grinned and pulled the lever.
