Chapter 11

Her back was itching, new tattoos were beyond annoying for the first few hours before her skin healed. Roza was wearing a form fitting pair of black jeans and a very loose fitting top that could not be more than a piece of black fabric tied around her neck and tucked into the front of her jeans. This left her back completely uncovered and showed off her new tattoos which now covered her back all the way to her the top of her hip bones.

Roza was content. Not happy, she doubted she would ever be happy until all the Moroi were destroyed. But yes she was content. All those who could oppose her at the Court were dead or dying and the comprehensive records that the guardians kept have allowed her to form small teams of humans and Strigoi to go and dispose all of the Moroi within the United States. She had given specific orders that all guardians and male Moroi could be killed onsite but any females or children were to be sent straight back to the Court.

Roza had a plan, she was going to build the biggest empire the Strigoi had ever seen, well bigger than the army that she had already created. But to do that she had to keep her army happy, and for that she needed the sweetest and strongest blood anyone could find, she needed Moroi blood.

Having taken the Court her army now had a ready supply of not only the blood which had been drained out but an entire generation of donors who would be addicted to the bite and could breed more donors.

The only children or females she killed were the ones who had specialised in Spirit, Roza did not want anyone around that could ruin what she was making. She remembered that first day and bringing the women and children out of the gym.

Three days ago

The body of the baby now discarded next to its catatonic mother and a very small group of teens and women were exiting the building. Roza smiled around at the others,

"Do not worry too much, not a single person in this building is going to die tonight." and with that she stalked out.

Just outside the doors her humans had lined the small group up and were now pushing them to their knees. Roza looked at each and everyone of them and smiled, the blood on her chin now dried and cracking. The first tears had started, this time it was a teenage boy, Roza was sure she had seen him at some point around the academy but she was not too sure. Squatting down she was eye to eye with him.

"Do any of you know why you are here?" Roza asked softly. A few shook their heads and more tears started to fall.

"No?" Roza spoke softly, "that's ok, ill tell you exactly why you are here. You see the guardians keep fairly large records of every single person that is born into our world. And all of your records show that not a single one of you specialised in any of the four elements which means that every single one of you can control the spirit element. And anyone who uses Spirit is a threat to me and mine." with that she grabbed the boys head and ripped open his throat with her teeth.

Present day

In the aftermath of the Court destruction Roza had allowed the turning of almost seven hundred of the humans into Strigoi. And thankfully almost three hundred of them had not enough strength to survive the transformation. That was the problem with humans, they were weak but there were always plenty of them around.

This afternoon was the planned mass burial, the smell was beginning to attract attention from bears and wolves in the surrounding forests. And it was starting to annoy everyone. So they had piled all 4832 bodies within the main the smouldering remains of the biggest church. Its stone pillars still standing. 20 massive pine trees had been cut and inter-spaced throughout the pile. Several large tanks of diesel had also been poured throughout.

Roza watched as the entirety of her army had turned out to watch them burn. This was their final hurrah at the Court. Tomorrow everyone was leaving the court, she was getting them out of here. Roza knew that a counter attack was eminent, that was what she would do. She would also would have commandeered several bombs and blown the entire Court out of existence, but then again she wasn't nice not like the Moroi and their Alchemist friends.

For almost a week they had done nothing but argue about what they should do. Lissa could see that this was going nowhere. Last night they watched as the Court went up in flames. And just before dawn broke they watched as all who remained were piled into buses and army troop trucks. Human, Moroi and Strigoi alike were all in vehicles with completely blacked out windows. Now no one had any idea where they were going and could only guess until the group showed up in some other CCTV.

Sighing Lissa spoke quietly to Dimitri, "Have you heard from your family?"

Viktoria and Babushka had stayed at the Court for only a few hours talking quietly with Dimitri before leaving as they came. This was four years ago.

"Yes, they are safe at the moment in Russia and are both watching quietly what is happening over there." Dimitri replied quietly. "Babushka passed away a few months ago."

"I am sorry." Lissa replied. A sadness in her voice that did not seem to ever go away. "has anything new occurred?"

For the past four years the Strigoi, under the leadership of Kövan had been building a fortress in the middle of Siberia. The closest city was Yunkyur. And it seemed to be the deepest and biggest underground fortress that ever existed. No one had been able to breach the security, but plans had been stolen from the human builders. Thousands of cells below the surface, a fortress prison that no bomb could penetrate, and below them what seemed to be an entire city.

"A few new things, apparently trucks have started rolling supplies and food. They are preparing for a large number of people." Dimitri replied.

"Do you think that is where they will be taking their Prisoners?" Lissa asked.

"Yes," Dimitri said.

There was a heavy silence in the air, Lissa was thinking.

"So we need to stop them on route," She said. "The only way we are ever going to get the prisoners back is before they enter the pit."

Dimitri sat up as an idea occurred to him. Looking at Lissa a fire that she had not seen in years blazed in his eyes. He began to tell Lissa his idea. Hope began to form, If this worked, they could end this war and finally destroy the monster that had once been their friend.
