Chapter 12
Roza laughed. The boats had finally docked in Magadan, now the trucks were being piled with the Moroi slaves and the first trucks had already begun to depart. Watching the entire process the cold laugh Pierced the hearts of the few who were hiding and watching.
Dimitri and Janine were taking the opportunity of confusion and chaos as people and trucks were everywhere to scout the operation. Roses laugh was loud enough for them to hear and cold enough to make them cry. It had been almost five years since they had seen her in the flesh and although she was a monster she was magnificent.
Dimitri watched, his tears had finally stopped as the last of almost 100 trucks had left and even the noise of its engine had faded. Finally looking to his left he saw the same expression on Janines face. It was impossible. Not only were there humans guarding the trucks but each was equipped with at least 10 Strigoi. Plus state of the art technology, electrified bars and walls which could only be turned off with the correct fingerprint. Each truck has a different commander and fingerprint. The Moroi had been bundled into them without caring. Each of them on a daze created by the drugged bite of the Strigoi.
Suddenly movement caught his eye, the remainder of the Strigoi were leaving. Fancy black SUV's driven by humans with the windows completely blacked out were filling up, until the final car a convertible Porsche black with black windows, it's top currently down, the driver stopped the car to chat to Rose and turned off the engine.
Janine who had been taking photos of the whole operation quickly took some of the car and sent them through to the new head quarters. They watched as Rose turned away from the car, even from this distance they could see her smiling. Lying completely still barley breathing they waited and waited and yet nothing. No movement or anything. Rose had disappeared almost 30 minutes before there was finally movement. But not in the direction they had expected. Behind them something crashed through the trees, Dimitri could hear laboured breathing along with the snapping sticks.
Suddenly someone shot out through the trees and screamed at the sight of them. It was a Moroi, young but completely destroyed, hair missing in great chunks and shallow sunked cheeks. Practically starved. Mia was a shadow of what she once was. But worse was what was following her. Casually stepping through the branches, the cold laugh gave Rose away.
"Did you really think I didn't know you were here?" Roza asked as she stepped up to the frozen Mia. She reached out her hand and gently brushed her fingers along Mia's collar bone. Mia shuddered, flinching always from the cold but didn't move any further.
"Sometimes it's fun to chase them, and I do like having fun," Roza said again.
Dimitri and Janine slowly got to their feet. Behind them now four other Strigoi had surrounded them. They watched as Roza lent down and brushed her lips along Mia's neck before sinking in her fangs and taking a long drink. Not bothering to clean up as she rose, blood snaked it's way down Mia's neck.
"So what are we going to do with you?" Roza asked smiling as the blood dropped down her fangs onto her chin
