HI! My name is Responsi! I am not a writer! XD However, saying that I was persuaded by two amazing peeps to attempt to write something semi-decent. So thanks Lazersword88 and LeTeiiEscribe for pushing me completely out of my freaking comfort zone. XD Nah, I love you both, so go give their stuff a read, it's about 100x better than this. I'm mainly here to help bring some more life back into this fandom, cause it's sad to see it die out, hopefully, we can make something out of this story with you guys giving me some great characters. Anyway, I'm definitely more of a reader than a writer so feel free to tell me how crappy it is. XD Enjoy.

The Isolation Effect

Chapter 1

It's been six long years since the world changed unexpectedly. Just like a wildfire, a plague spread across the globe and the dead came back to life. One by one the human race fell, cannibalised. A single bite would turn you, blood tainted with the disease. The spread became untraceable to its roots and all hope was lost.

Many lives were claimed, most now roamed as corpses.

But, miraculously, not everyone succumbed to this fate. For few, they were given a chance of living in a haven, fed and looked after. Some were gratefully saved from the outside world; most were taken and abducted from their loved ones, while others went willingly to save those they cared about.

All, however, were brought to a facility known as Sanctuary.

Not knowing that they wouldn't see the light of day ever again.

Dedicated to the experimentation on voluntary humans, Sanctuary was designed to help find the cures for known viruses, pathogens and diseases, and therefore they were the first to act during the outbreak, driven to find an antidote at all costs. Though, as the years passed, humanity struggled… the need for finding a cure dwindled into the world of make-believe.

Instead, they began to use human experimentation to weaponize the virus… though without telling the volunteers beforehand.

Six years down the line, many of Sanctuary's subjects were murdered during the research process, their bodies buried under a mountain of lies.

They didn't care about the lives of their subjects anymore; they didn't care about a cure.

They only desired one thing…

And it was only a matter of time before Sanctuary got it.

Two bodies walk down the long corridor to where the remaining subjects within the facility were held. The first, a tall statured man, his legs striding almost twice the length of the smaller person beside him. He wore a regimented uniform, not a single speck of dust on the black fabric. The smaller was a female doctor, the sleeves of her laboratory coat rolled up and a thick set of glasses perched on the end of her nose. Together they spoke lowly, going through the routine checks before moving on to the issue at hand.

"We now have ten?"

"Yes, Sir." She gave him the profiles that were previously tucked under her armpit. "We have one transferring in later tonight from our European branch and another two from our sister facilities tomorrow morning."

"And these ten people are the only ones who have shown the same symptoms?"

"Yes, the virus has bonded with their genetic code unexpectedly and uniquely…"

"Are they turning?"

"No… But they are dangerous."

The scientist swipes her ID in the card reader, allowing them to enter the hallway where ten large white doors lined the walls. There were five on either side, each adorned with their number.

"Dangerous? Explain."

"Subject 4 was the first to undergo the recent examination," She says, "there was no initial reaction to the drug and so we attempted returning him to his room."

They found themselves waiting outside the second door on the left, a large number four printed under a small, closed grate.

"What happened?"

"You heard about the virus outbreak within Sanctuary that occurred last week?"

A nod, "of course, it's why I was sent here after all. Did subject 4 have something to do with it?"

"Yes, in a fit of resistance, he violently struggled against us and ended up biting Doctor Marshall." There was a hint of sadness in her green eyes as she cherished the thought of her late friend. "It took him six hours to succumb to the virus that originated from the bite. We found him before it spread to anyone else and he was disposed of within seconds of reanimation. There were no other casualties."

A bundle of nausea slams the man within his stomach; it was a disgusting thought that these humans were able to transmit the disease on like the dead themselves. He swallows the lump in his throat, "are the subjects aware?"

"No."

"Good, let's keep it that way." Sinister eyes narrow at the door, "we don't need the subjects knowing about this; it may cause some security issues. Have any other facilities reported anything similar?"

"Those who have, are sending their subjects to us. The rest were met with indecisive results to the drug, ranging from death to complete organ mutations."

There was silence as the man determined what his next step would be. He glares at the door, wanting to know what the human inside was like.

"Sir?"

"Finally, this is what we have waited for these last six years." Shadows cast over the man's face, a demonic aura growing. "I've brought some new experimentation processes that the Commander wants us to try, starting with the subjects in this Sanctuary. The drug has affected them in such a strange way and so we must find the limit of their newfound capabilities."

He opens the grate and peers into Room 4. A lone figure rested within the illuminated room, head hanging off the side of the bed with his feet stuck in the air. They were lazily humming to themselves, unaware of the two that were observing his every movement.

"He's been extremely quiet since we brought him back." The scientist notes down the subject's status.

"Normally loud, is he?"

"Rude is the better word choice."

The man laughs deeply.

"We are ready to perform any experiments you need, Sir. So, which subject would you like to start experimenting with?"

A set of royal blue eyes suddenly lock onto them. He knew exactly what was about to happen.

"Him. Subject 4."

So unless you missed the magic number, I have 10 spaces and that's it. I've been told to put the form on my profile so that's where it'll be. Now on PM me one character, I'm not gonna take characters from reviews cause I'm a freaking chatterbox that loves talking to people. And something about a deadline to get characters in, let's say about a month? Maybe... XD so around the 15th of April. Have fun.

Uhh, short chapters are my forte so short chapter's there will be XD
