It's been another half an hour of explanation of the numerous procedures that happened during that day and after this time the two men decide to take a break.
The group exits the office, Marshall and the two surgeons choose to go to the cafeteria for a coffee; obviously the blonde prefers a tea.
"Everything all right, Elsa?" the big guy asks the young woman while he passes the sugar. "Just a bit more patience and you'll be done with all of this."
"He's right, they have everything they need. They'll probably keep us here for another ten minutes and they'll let us go. it's out of the question that after we've finished you will not go back to work." Elsa looks at him threateningly but she has no effect on her boss. "I don't want to see you around the hallways with the white coat. At least, not until Wednesday at 8:30am." the blonde raises her eyebrow asking for explanations. "You heard well, I expect to see you back at work in two days, but until now I want you to relax. These last weeks has been quite a lot, you're one of the best surgeon we have, I have no intention of letting you work when you're not at your one hundred per cent."
Kai understands perfectly where the blonde's mind is right now and he smiles knowingly. "Don't worry, I'll take care of your patients, all of them." Elsa thanks him with a nod and smiling him back.
Marshall knows the woman well and he knows she'd prefers working instead of staying at home doing nothing, but in this case he agrees with the chief: she needs to take a break and fresh air. It won't be long until everything is done and she needs every bit of energy possible for the next days.
"So, do you already have something in mind for Friday?" the lawyer asks changing the topic.
In the meanwhile life proceeds as always at the Arendelle General Hospital: patients come and go, the staff is busy and doesn't have any free time, especially in this moment of the year since a great portion of the personnel is busy with conventions, meetings, training courses. Even though Gerda is married to the chief of surgery she doesn't like this environment and the more she thinks about this place the more she realizes she is destined to be part of it: her nephew is an intern and her daughter's heart is inside these walls by now.
"Mom, do you think she's here today?" Anna wonders while looking at the shift's schedule hanging above a counter in one of the rooms reserved for the staff.
"I believes so, don't you find her name? Couldn't we just call? We'd save time.." while the woman takes out her phone to search for the number her daughter takes a little jump.
"Ah! Found it! Ok, we've arrived just in time, she's on break, let's go!" she exclaims.
The two women walks in the Relax from where there is some whispering.
Once in they see a small group of nurses and doctors around a table placed in the corner of the room, one of them turns around facing the door which has just opened. He smiles politely. Instantly everyone do the same and start to move away, so that Anna and Gerda can approach the table.
The redhead sits down and lays her purse on the table, without taking too much space. She starts searching inside it and takes out a paper bag which releases a mouthwatering smell.
"Ehi, the other day we were talking about the new bakery at the corner of the university's street and I thought to go and take a look. You can try these swans now! They're handmade one hundred per cent. I managed to save one for you, so, enjoy!" the young hands down the pastry with a handkerchief.
"Anna, thank you so much, you shouldn't have.." Mandy replies shyly. She hasn't even quite touched her lunch yet.
"Nonsense, I had to share these treats! Mom, tell her! Gerda touches softly the nurse's shoulder.
"She's right and may I dare to say you do need some sugar, honey. You're paler than usual, aren't you resting?"
She shrugs her shoulders at the question and sighs. "It's not easy with everything that is happening. I know, the worst is gone but.. some things make you wonder."
"You said it.. the worst is gone, so take a bit of this swan!" Anna encourages her vigorously. "If you don't, it will be difficult for Kristoff to see you, you're almost invisible."
Mandy chuckles at hearing her boyfriend's name.
"Oh trust me, he's mocking me for a few days.. look, luckily he came back home friday. Here almost no one could put up with him anymore! But shush, not a word to him."
"We won't tell anything.. speaking of him, we should talk about of this friday. What area we going to do?"
"Have you heard from Elsa and Marshall? Do they have any idea?" Gerda asks thoughtfully.
"No, I'll try to speak with her later." Anna shakes her head.
"Oh right, today they had the meeting with the council.. I wonder how it went."
Silence falls down the group for an instant.
Of course everyone in the hospital knows about the events regarding the trio Hans, Elsa and Kristoff. At first there were some fake news but than an internal communication cleared the situation. Of course, for privacy's sake, some specific information has been omitted. As expected the word spread out reaching the local newspapers and media: needless to say that for the people involved that only made more difficult to handle the situation.
Looking from another point of view, Kristoff has been lucky: he lost consciousness for a few days and he was spared from all the attention. Before being discharged the council wanted to speak privately with him in order to have his side of the story, so that today he could be at home, relaxing without any extra attention.
Kristoff keeps checking his phone for any updates.
"Any news is better than none.." the retakes his PS3 joystick and restart the game.
"I can't even drink a coffee in peace!" Kristoff puts the cup next to the sink and he takes his white coat to go visit his patient. The more he gets closer to the P005 the more he hears screams and that troubles him. The thing that troubles him the most is the guards' absence, usually there's always someone, inside or outside, in case one of them needs a break. As he opens the door he sees no one except Hans.
"Mr. Southerisland what's happening? Where are the guards?" the blond asks while he checks the room before approaching the patient. He notices nothing out of place.
"Damn it! Would you move or not to make me feel better? When will I get out of this dump!? Argh.." Hans tries to bring his hand to the chest but he can't because he's handcuffed to the bed. Kristoff is a bit more relieved by that and feeling safer he gets closer to the man.
"Where does it hurt?" the doctor asks while he's preparing his stethoscope.
"What kind of question is!? Don't you see my chest hurts!? What kind of incompetents.. at least in my hospital people are brighter than you! I don't know how you are still around!"
''What a jerk.' Kristoff bites his tongue to keep himself from giving him a talk.
Everything happens in a flash.
Right in the moment when the blond bends down on the man's chest, Hans takes advantage of the position and hits him behind the head. The impact is so sudden and violent that Kristoff barely manages to stay on his feet. Soon enough he blacks out and falls down losing consciousness in a split of a second, ignoring the warm feeling down his neck.
'I guess he played baseball..' his hand checks the bandage on the sutures behind his head. In hindsight it's easy to say he should have been more careful and kept his distance. Since he recovered he keeps repeating himself that everyone in his positions whould have done the same thing.
He feels extremely guilty for putting Elsa in this mess. He hasn't had many chances to talk to the blonde but every time she visited him she'd sent him her glare of don't you even think about to say sorry.
Kristoff smiles at the thought and takes out his phone to text her.
"Ehi, I beat your record. Sorry not sorry."
He's certain that Elsa wants to think about everything but Hans in this moment.
