"The Ninja And The Hunchback" Prologue. —
(Note: Hey, guys. It's Aerisuke here, again. I know it's been a while (please don't kill me!), and I'm sorry for being gone (for like what, three years?), but a lot of things happened in my life, and it's a really long story. But hey, I'm back. Anyway, I've been thinking about this "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame/"Naruto" fanfic for a while. I've kind of been obsessed with "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" lately. The reason why I wanted to do this fanfic is because I realized that both Naruto (from "Naruto", an anime/manga series) and Quasimodo (from "The Hunchback Dame", Disney movie) are similar. They're both the main characters, they were both born differently (Naruto was born with a tailed beast inside of him and Quasimodo was born deformed) and they have trouble fitting in with other people because of it. In other words, they're both outcasts, and they're both orphans. It kind of made me wonder what would happen if Naruto and Quasimodo became friends, and then Naruto (like Esmeralda, another character in "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame") taught Quasimodo to stand up for himself against Frollo's (the main antagonist of "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame"; Frollo forbids Quasimodo to leave Notre Dame because people will judge him for his deformed appearance) wishes, since Naruto's great at making speeches and all. But I know what it'a like to be an outcast. You see, I was born with something called Asperger's Syndrome (also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder, a neurological disorder, which means that my brain works differently compared to a normal person's brain; I also have ADHD - Attentive Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, meaning that I have a very short attention span) which I've had since childhood. I was bullied in junior high because of it, and like Naruto and Quasimodo, I also had trouble fitting in (even though I had some friends), and still kind of do. Since I learned about my Asperger's and ADHD, I often talk a lot about it, and I've learned how to stand up for myself and to fight for what I believe in. So, I'd like to dedicate this fanfic to the people who have been bullied (and still are), especially to those who were born with disabilities and medical problems, including myself. That's one of the reasons why I wanted to be a writer, so that I could share my story with other people and to prove that you can make a difference in someone's life. Stand up for yourself, fight for what you believe in, and never give up. I didn't (and I never will), and neither should you. Anyway, in the "Naruto" universe, the story takes place after Tsunade becomes Hokage and before Sasuke betrays Konoha. I'll be using Part 1 of the "Naruto" series (you know, when Naruto and his are preteens, before "Shippuden" takes place in Part 2). Also, there will be some references from the musical version (and book version) of "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" in this fanfic. Oh, and one more thing. There are going to be spoilers for "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" and "Naruto", for those of you who have never seen or heard of them. So, go watch them, they're awesome (well, in my opinion, anyway). Obviously I know that Naruto and his friends aren't in "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" ("The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" came out in 1996, the "Naruto" manga came out in 1999, and the anime came out in 2002), but hey, it's a crossover and an alternate universe (AU). Constructive criticism is appreciated, so I'm sorry if I make any mistakes. Anyway, without further ado, I hope you enjoy the story! :D P.S. This fanfic is dedicated in loving memory of Notre Dame, which burned in real life (like it did in "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame") last year. Although no one died, there were a few people who were injured. It won't be rebuilt until 2024. R.I.P. Notre Dame. :()

Summary:
This is the story of the ninja Naruto Uzumaki, and Quasimodo, the hunchback of Notre Dame, two outcasts who both struggle to fit in, and dream of being accepted for who they are. But what happens when Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi, Phoebus and Quasimodo meet the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda, who Frollo claims is evil? Who is the monster, and who is the man?

Twenty years ago, four gypsies entered the city of Paris, France, illegally. One of the gypsies was a woman who held a baby in her arms. But then, a man named Judge Claude Frollo arrested her husband and another one of the gypsies, but the woman managed to escape. Thinking that she stole a bundle of goods, Frollo chased her, who arrived at Notre Dame crying out, "Sanctuary!", hoping that someone would hear her and help her escape Frollo's wrath. Unfortunately, by the time Frollo reached the woman, he grabbed the bundle out of her arms and kicked her to the ground on the steps of Notre Dame, killing her. After the woman passed away, Frollo looked at the bundle and realized that it was a baby boy. He gasped in shock and horror at the baby's deformity, and attempted to drown the unholy demon in a well, only to be stopped by the Archdeacon of Notre Dame. The Archdeacon scolded Frollo for killing the woman and told him that in order to atone for his sins, Frollo would have no choice but to raise the child as his own. Frollo reluctantly agreed, locked the boy up in the bell tower, so no one would see him, and gave him a cruel name. A name that means half-formed… Quasimodo.
Seven years passed since that fateful night. Meanwhile, in Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village, another baby boy was born. His parents, Minato Namikaze (the Fourth Hokage, the leader of Konoha) and Kushina Uzumaki (Minato's wife) were killed during the Nine-Tailed Fox's attack on Konoha, leaving Minato and Kushina's son as an orphan. Before Minato and Kushina died, Minato sealed the Nine-Tailed Fox inside of the boy. The villagers shunned him because he was held responsible for the Nine-Tailed Fox who not only attacked Konoha, but killed their loved ones as well. That boy was known as the number one hyperactive knucklehead ninja, who dreamed of becoming Hokage, so that people would respect him and start treating him as if he was someone important. His name… was Naruto Uzumaki.
Our story begins twenty years after Quasimodo's birth, and thirteen years after Naruto's birth. Unfortunately, both boys never met. But little did they know… that their paths would eventually cross someday. This is the story of Naruto Uzumaki and Quasimodo, two outcasts who both struggle to fit in, and dream of being accepted for who they are. But the question we must ask ourselves is… who is the monster, and who is the man?

(Note: As I'm writing this story, I'm also listening to some of the songs from the "Naruto" series and the movie and musical soundtrack versions of "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame." In the future, I'll show you what songs from the "Naruto" series (and other anime songs) I used for each scene. I'm not sure if anyone wrote a fanfic where Naruto and Quasimodo became friends, but whoever did, I'm sorry if I stole your idea. I didn't mean to. I just didn't know. For some of the chapters in the fanfic, I will also give a little background information about based on "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame' book (which I've read in middle school for my World History class: we watched both the 1939 version and Disney version), but it's been a while since I've read the book. Even to this day, it still puzzles me of how and why the Disney version of "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" is considered a kids movie despite its dark themes, but I love it. It's seriously underrated for a Disney movie. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter, and Chapter 1 should be out soon. Right now, I'm working on the script for the fanfic to help me. I do that a lot (write scripts for a fanfic that I'm working on; if I get stuck on a scene, I just write the script for it, if that makes sense).
