Brandon stopped by the Peach Pit to get some food to take back to the pool house. He knew that Brenda would enjoy the food. He had already gotten the other things that he wanted to surprise Brenda with. He smiled when he saw Valerie walking towards him. "Hey, Val, did you have a problem getting here?"

Valerie shook her head and smiled. "Uncle Jim had no problem dropping me off after I told him that I was meeting you. He also told me to tell you that he will be seeing Brenda in the next day or two and that he would keep it from your mom that she is in town. I'm not sure how he worked it out that she is back in Beverly Hills."

Brandon chuckled. "I had a feeling he would work it out sooner rather than later. Dad has always known Brenda better than mom did or even still does. Brenda wouldn't mind seeing dad I do know that much. Well let's get on the road."

Valerie laughed and grabbed some of the bags on the counter in front of them and followed Brandon out of the Peach Pit and to his car. Once she was in his car she turned slightly so that she could see him clearly. "How is Brenda really doing, Brandon? She sounds different than she normally does."

Brandon sighed. "Brenda is doing alright, Valerie. I promise you that there is a reason why she sounds so different, but I won't tell you what it is. I do think that this will be one thing worth waiting for to find out. How has mom been since I haven't been home?"

Valerie groaned. "Cindy has been a nightmare. She is pissed because she doesn't understand why you are not coming home. She is pissed because Brenda isn't doing what Cindy wants her to do. uncle Jim actually got in her face this morning and told her to shut up because it was no wonder why you don't want to come home. She still has no clue that Brenda isn't even in Minnesota any longer."

Brandon scowled. "She keeps going the way she is going she isn't going to have a son or a daughter any longer until she can finally grow the hell up. So has Kelly stopped by at all in the last couple of days?"

Valerie smirked. "Oh she has, but uncle Jim and I have turned her away even when your mother invited her in. I got great pleasure in telling Kelly that if she stepped foot on the property again that either uncle Jim or I would press trespassing charges against her since we've both told her that she wasn't welcome. After all the house is in uncle Jim's name so Cindy can't really put up a fight about that. Although she did try until she was reminded just who's house the name was in."

Brandon smirked. "I bet mom hated that. She is lucky that dad has yet to transfer the deed into mine and Brenda's name like he is planning on. I really don't know why mom is being the way that she is and I really don't care why. What I do care about is being there for Brenda and making sure that she gets through things with as little stress as possible. If mom can't keep her comments or thoughts to herself then she can keep the hell away from Brenda and I. Now we are meeting Steve, Andrea, David, Donna, and Dylan at Donna's parents house. Well actually the pool house, but it's the same difference I think. Felice has been great with Brenda."

Valerie couldn't stop a smile from spreading across her face at that. "I think that Mrs. Martin will be the kind of mother that Brenda needs right now, Brandon. I don't know if you know it or not, but Mrs. Martin would call uncle Jim every couple of days to see if he had heard from Brenda and how she was doing. I think that Brenda made a big impression on Mrs. Martin when she stood up for Donna and David like she did."

Brandon nodded. "Oh I know about it alright. Like I said Felice has been great with Brenda these last few days and I know that it means the world to Brenda. Dylan didn't want to leave Brenda this morning, but Felice made him see that he needed to go to classes. He finally gave in after Felice swore not to leave Brenda's side until he got back from classes."

Valerie sighed. "Brandon, will you at least swear to me that Brenda isn't dying? I've been worrying about her like crazy these last couple of weeks and that worry has escalated since I guessed that she came back to Beverly Hills without telling anyone her plans. She didn't come home to die did she? I don't think I could handle it if she was going to die on me."

Brandon looked at Valerie quickly and then back to the road. "Valerie, I swear to you that Brenda is not dying. I promise you that she is alright or that she will be. I am so sorry that you have been thinking and fearing the worst. Why didn't you tell or ask me before now, Val? If you had I could have set your worries to rest on that."

Valerie shrugged. "Honestly, Brandon, I was scared of the answer that I would get. I didn't want to know because then it would have just made it all the more real and not just inside my head like it had been. I'm happy to know that she isn't dying. I don't know what I would do if I lose her. Both you and Brenda are like brother and sister to me, Brandon. I don't know what I would do if I lost either of you."

Brandon took one hand off the steering wheel and reached over and squeezed one of Valerie's hands before he put it back on the steering wheel. "You're not going to lose us, Val. Also just so you know you are like a sister to both Brenda and I as well. I do hope that you know, Val, that you have Donna, David, Andrea, Steve, and even Dylan that you can consider family as well. We are all here for you if you should need us for any reason at all."

Valerie smiled softly just as they pulled into the Martin's driveway. "I know, Brandon, but I'm still not used to it. I'm used to having nobody, but myself to depend on and you know the reason why. I'll try to do better about coming to you or any of the others if I need to I promise."

Brandon parked, shut off his car, and then leaned across to the passenger seat and kissed Valerie on the head. "I know that you will. Now are you ready to go in and see Brenda?"

Valerie took in a deep breath and let it out. "I am now."

Brandon grinned as he opened his car door and climbed out. He grabbed the bags of food and left the drink carriers for Valerie to carry. Once he was sure that she had them and that both car doors were closed he led the way into the pool house.
