Twelve

Santana woke early the next morning, and once again, she found herself laying in Dani's bed, for the third time in the past week. At least this time she had come well prepared and was actually wearing her own clothing. That morning, she wasn't shocked to find Dani lying so close to her. Once again, she had the blonde girl wrapped in her arms and only seemed to be pulling her closer and closer towards her.

Dani's arms were pulled up against her chest, resting lightly against Santana's as well, putting a small gap between them. And, just as they had been last week and the previous morning, Dani's legs were entwined with Santana's.

Santana found herself watching Dani sleeping once again, she wasn't as shocked to see Dani open her eyes this time, instead, she found herself making eye contact with the shorter girl. Dani gave Santana a lazy smile before closing her eyes again and shifting around slightly where she lay to make herself comfortable.

"Dani." Santana said quietly, Dani hummed quietly, letting the other girl know that she was listening, the shorter girl made no efforts to move herself away from Santana, nor did Santana make any attempts to move herself away from Dani, which was very different to what had happened between them last week. "Why the hell are your legs trapped between mine?" She asked, Dani opened her eyes slowly, "I'm not mad about it or anything, or even annoyed at you, but I just wanna know why?"

"Sorry about that," she said through a yawn, "it's because I sleep diagonally." She replied, "I think that has so much to do with why we keep waking up so close together and cuddling." She replied.

"Yeah right weirdo, you just love cuddling me, admit it." Santana said, I know I like cuddling you.

"You know what?" Dani asked, "you've got me there, that's exactly what it is, I just can't keep my hands off of you, even in sleep." She said sarcastically, "and explain to me again why I'm weird."

"You sleep diagonally."

Dani smiled and shook her head, "That's not weird it's just the only way that I feel comfortable, is all." She said shrugging.

"Like that's any less weird." She replied.

"Shut up." Dani said, she smiled slightly at Santana, "Morning." She said quietly.

"Good morning to you, too." Santana said, she could feel Dani's warm breath on her face, she took a deep breath herself and decided that she wanted to make another joke out of their situation, joking about it certainly seemed to help her. "Your breath stinks." Santana mumbled.

Dani nodded her head, "Yeah, so does yours." She replied with a chuckle, Santana closed her eyes and sighed, she directed her breath towards Dani's face just to annoy her, "That's disgusting." Dani said with a quiet laugh.

"Your face is disgusting." Santana joked.

"You're disgusting in general." Dani shot back, she shuffled in her bed again, before huffing out a breath of air, "Do you mind moving that way a little bit? I'm perched on the end of my bed, and I'm pretty sure you holding onto me is the only thing keeping me in the bed."

"Dani I assure you, you are not perched, I bet you have the same amount of room as me."

"Santana it's a queen size bed and I promise you now, that I am literally on the edge." She said, "I'll prove it." Dani sat herself up slightly and looked over Santana's shoulder, sure enough, the side of the bed Santana had been laid on last night was now empty while both girls were squeezed onto Dani's side of the bed.

"I have no room either."

"Look over your shoulder, and then tell me that again." Dani said. Santana rolled her eyes and reluctantly let go of Dani to look over her shoulder, a sheepish expression crossed her face as she saw all of the spare room.

"Oh." Santana said quietly.

Dani nodded her head, "Yeahhh." She said, "So are you gonna move up or not?" She asked, Santana sighed and rolled her eyes before reluctantly moving away from the shorter girl.

oOoOo

It hadn't taken Dani and Santana long to fall back to sleep, and just like the week before, the blonde girl had gotten up earlier, and had already been showered, dressed had her make-up on and was even making breakfast when Santana entered the kitchen.

Once again, Dani and Santana were sat at the kitchen island while they ate a large plate of waffles each.

"Okay so, what is the plan of action for you today, Daniellaaar?" Santana asked, cheerfully, as she drank the cup of coffee that Dani had made her, Santana knew it was a simple task to make coffee, but she was sure that Dani made some of the best coffee she had ever drank.

What can't she do? I'm getting sick of this now, she can sing, she can draw, she can play the guitar and she can cook. Urgh! I hate her; the only problem is I don't hate her at all!

"Hmm," Dani said, turning her mouth down in thought, "I don't really know." She said, she ran a hand through her blonde hair, "Do you wanna go on another day trip with me?" She asked, "We could take a drive to Cleveland?"

"Why Cleveland?" Santana asked.

"I just really feel like having a spur of the moment trip to Cleveland."

Santana nodded her head; Cleveland was yet another place that she was sure she had never been, that or she just didn't remember ever going. "Erm, yeah sure." She said.

"You don't seem to happy about it?"

Santana shook her head, "No I am… I'm just waiting for you to get sick of me and send me packing." She admitted Dani shook her head.

"Don't worry about that ever happening." Dani said, she shrugged, "You're like, my best friend." She said.

"You're my best friend, too." She said smiling.

"Then it's settled." Dani said.

Santana nodded her head with a smile, which quickly dropped from her face, she furrowed her eyebrows and narrowed her eyes jokingly at Dani, "Wait, you're not just gonna take me to another museum, are you?" She asked.

"Well, if I told you that, it would totally ruin the surprise." Dani said smiling slightly, "No I actually don't know what we're doing, I won't until I Google what there is to do there."

"God, I'm regretting my decision to go with you already." She said.

"Look, you can say whatever you want, but you absolutely loved last week." Dani said smiling, "You told me so yourself, and I assure you, that no matter what we do today, you'll love this just as much."

Yeah because I'll be with you "You think, but I'm not that easy to please." Santana said.

"No. I know, you'll love it." Dani said, she tapped the tip of Santana's nose with her finger, making the taller girl screw her face up slightly, "So, go and get ready, because today I am setting you the challenge of getting ready in an hour." She said with a shrug. "So you'd better be fast, because if not, I am leaving you."

"Please, you'd never leave me." Santana scoffed, "I'm your best friend remember?" ugh best friend, why did she have to say that!

Dani shrugged, "I left Adriana behind once and she's my sister." She said, Santana widened her eyes slightly, "Well I came back for her." Dani said defending herself, "but she was just taking way too long to get ready, so I left her." She said, "She never did it again."

Santana shrugged, "So, you came back for her," she sighed, "Sounds like I don't actually have anything to worry about if you ask me."

Dani nodded "Yeah I did, because she's my sister, I wouldn't come back for you… I don't have to, I only went back for her because she had the tickets to the concert we were going to in Columbus." Dani admitted. "So you'd better hurry up because the way I see it is that you just wasted a couple of minutes."

Once again Santana finished her breakfast as quickly as she could and drained her cup of coffee, before running up the stairs to get a shower, she appeared soon after asking Dani for directions and how to use the shower.

She was just thankful that she had her clothes there that week and didn't need to go home for anything.

oOoOo

When Santana came down stairs, Dani was nowhere to be seen; surely I can't have been longer than an hour? Santana thought, more to the point, Dani wouldn't actually leave me, would she?

She quickly ran out of Dani's door, breathing a sigh of relief when she saw Dani leaning against her car, she had her eyes closed and her head back. Santana walked as quietly as she could towards the other girl.

She was just about to grab hold of Dani to startle her, when the shorter girl spoke out, "You're ready then?" She said, she opened her eyes and slowly lifted her head to look at Santana.

"Wha-" Santana started, "How did you know I was there?"

Dani smiled slightly, "I am at one with the universe." She joked with a small shrug, "You have a lot to learn about me, my young padawan." She said.

Santana gave her a confused look, "What the fuck, is a padawan?"

"Padawan!" Dani said smiling, "You know, like in Star Wars… a padawan!" Santana shrugged and shook her head; Dani gave Santana an unamused look, "Just get in my car." She said as she pushed the button to unlock the doors.

Santana quickly moved around to the passenger side of the car and climbed inside, shortly followed by Dani, "So, what are we actually doing today?" She asked, trying her luck.

Dani turned her mouth down slightly before sighing and saying, "You know what? I'll actually tell you today, but only because I have two things in mind that I want to do and I kind of want you to choose, because I honestly can't." Dani said.

"Okay, hit me." Santana said.

Dani smirked, "Didn't realise you were into that type of stuff, do we need a safety word?" She teased; Santana shoved her slightly from where she was sitting. "Okay ow!" Dani said, rubbing her arm.

"Just tell me the options."

"Well it's between the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, or it's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum." Dani said smiling, she wasn't willing to admit it at the time, but a small part of her was hoping that Santana was going to say the latter. But, she knew Santana, and she had a pretty good feeling that she knew where they would be going before she had even finished speaking.

"The zoo." Santana said shrugging, "Every time, the zoo. It's not even a question, Dani."

"Okay." Dani said smiling, though she would have preferred walking around the rock and roll museum, she'd have been lying if she said that she didn't want to go and see some animals.

"I wants to see me some animals." She said excitedly, bringing a smile to Dani's face.

"Well then, we'll go see the animals." Dani said smiling, she turned her key in the ignition starting the engine up before putting in the address that she found online in her GPS system and pulling out of her driveway.

oOoOo

They had been driving for roughly fifteen minutes, in an easy silence that was broken every once in a while by one of them asking the other a random question; they had seventeen years of lost time to make up for.

"Hey, Dani…" Santana said.

"What?" Dani said, trying to focus on the road.

"I'm on the website for the zoo in Cleveland..."

"And?"

"And they have an animal called Reed Titi." Santana said, Dani let out a bark of laughter, before reigning it in. "Dani, can we please go see the Titis?" Dani tried to fight against her laughter, she shook her head slowly, trying to concentrate on the road rather than what Santana was saying. "Come on I knows you wanna see some Titis."

"Oh my god!" Dani said, her laughter breaking out in full. Making Santana smile instantly, just like it had on Friday night. "Stop making me laugh," Dani said, her breathing ragged as she tried to calm her self down.

If you keep laughing like that I'm not gonna Santana thought, she took a breath, trying to rid her mind of these thoughts. It had been bugging her since Friday that she kept having thoughts like this about Dani.

Stop it. She's your FRIEND...Your BEST FRIEND and you love Brittany… Brittany who left you… Dani had been there for you then… Santana was surprised by the direction that her thoughts had taken her in. She decided it was best to clear her mind, and hold a conversation with the girl.

"I'll stop saying it if we can go see them." Santana said.

"Fine, I'll take you to see the Titis." Dani said, chuckling slightly.

"Thank you." Santana said.

Dani shook her head and said, "I doubt that it's pronounced like that though." She said.

"Let me have this one." Santana said, "It's more fun if we pronounce it like titties."

Dani scoffed, "For you maybe." She said, "I think I gave myself a hernia laughing at you."

Santana shrugged, "I'm just that funny."

"Yeah funny looking." Dani said teasingly, she gave Santana a friendly wink and a quick smile.

oOoOo

Santana had long since stopped looking at the zoo website after she had only mildly annoyed Dani with her pleading to go and see every animal that she found cute. (Though Dani's excitement had definitely spiked when she found out they had tigers there). They had sat in silence before Dani had gotten bored and had turned on her music, for the first five songs that played, Santana complained, constantly.

She had made comments about how some of Dani's favourite musicians and bands were 'lame'. Which Dani had rolled her eyes at and carried on singing the songs. She didn't care if Santana liked the same music she did. It was her car, so it was her music that got played.

She had finally stopped complaining when a song she actually liked came on, Dani had made a joke along the lines of Santana actually finding enjoyment in something for a change. Which had earned her a glare for the dark haired girl

Dani was singing loudly, feeling much more comfortable around the other girl than ever before. She started to dance in her seat. Neither one of them had heard the bang, they hadn't realised anything was wrong until Santana said, "Dan... Why is your car smoking?"

Dani looked out of the window next to her and saw a lot of black smoke spewing up the side of her car. She pulled up at the side of the road and climbed out of her car, Santana following her quickly.

When they got out of the car, the smell of burning rubber filled the air, making Dani gag slightly. The tire on the front drivers side had blown, leaving what looked like three big slash marks in the dark rubber.

Dani's breathing was slightly ragged as she tried to pull herself back together. "Fuck." Dani said, she sighed and tilted her head to the side as she looked at the tire.

"Fuck?" Santana said shrugging, "Just, fuck?" She asked.

Dani nodded her head slowly, "Yeah. There's literally nothing else for me to say, San." She said, "I mean, what do you want me to do?"

The taller girl shrugged, in all honesty she didn't know. Nothing like this had ever happened to her before. "You have a spare tire right?" Dani nodded her head and gave Santana a look that screamed 'obviously'. "Well, please tell me that you know how to change a tire."

Dani nodded her head, "Yes. I know how to change a tire." She snapped, she didn't know where it came from. She knew she had no reason to be mad at Santana, she just hadn't been able to help it.

"Okay, god, there's no need to snap at me." Santana said, "I was just checking you actually knew how to change a tire, I know that I don't and I know a lot of people in general don't!" She said, Dani sighed and rolled her eyes, she changed it as quickly as she could, wasting another thirty minutes of their day.

When Dani stepped away, she looked at the new tire and turned her mouth down. "Fuck." She said again. It seemed to be the most fitting word in Dani's vocabulary that day.

"And it's flat." Santana said shaking her head, "Jesus Christ Dani!" She said, Dani rolled her eyes, it wasn't like she had planned for this to happen. In fact, Dani hadn't planned any of that day. "Fix it!" Santana snapped.

"How?" The shorter girl said, she could feel her annoyance building the more time she spent with Santana by the roadside. "What do you want me to do?" She asked, "Blow it back up using the air from my lungs?" She asked sardonically.

"Could you?" Santana replied.

Dani sighed, glaring at Santana slightly, she pulled out her phone from the back pocket of her jeans. "No signal, what about you?"

"Why does that matter?" Santana asked.

Dani rolled her eyes, "I need to ring road side recovery." Dani said, Santana pulled out her phone and handed it to the shorter girl. "Nothing." She said. She turned her mouth down. "Look," she said, "Just a little down the road is a phone, do you see it?" She asked, Santana nodded, "Good. Go use it."

"Why can't you?"

"I need to stay with the car." She said lying feebly.

"Fine." Santana said.

oOoOo

Around ten minutes later Santana appeared at Dani's side. "They said they should be here in forty five minutes."

"Okay." Dani said calmly, while Santana was away from her, she had given her self time to breath and calm down slightly. Of course, it had helped her that they were near a small field area and she had seen some wildlife running around. Watching the animals had brought a small smile to her face.

Santana furrowed her eyebrows and said "Seriously what happened when I was away? I mean you're acting like Jekyll and Hyde today."

"Sorry." Dani said. "I'm just a little pissed that all of this happened, you know? And that we're stuck here when we should be over halfway to Cleveland by now." Dani said, "So I was a little snappy with you…"

"A little?" Santana asked cutting her off, Dani rolled her eyes and sent Santana a slight warning glare. "Sorry, continue." She said.

"So yeah I'm pissed. But, while you were on your little task, I had time to reflect on what happened, and I saw some animals by the road, in those fields just over there." She said, "And I just realised how lucky we actually are right now."

"Lucky?" Santana said, "Seriously, I love your optimism sometimes, but sweetie, this isn't luck." Santana said. She widened her eyes when she realised what she had called Dani. In all honesty it had just flown out of her mouth. She hadn't even meant to say it.

"Yeah I know the tire blowing and the spare being flat isn't lucky." She said, remaining un-phased by what Santana had called her. "But neither one of us got hurt and that's extremely lucky." She said, "A tire blowing is quite dangerous, San." She explained, "I was going like, seventy," she said, "We are so lucky that I didn't lose control of that car. We could be really badly hurt. Or worse. But, we're not."

"Yeah, I guess but still…"

"Nope." Dani said shaking her head, "No buts, I really don't wanna hear it. Yes we are going to be stuck here for the best part of an hour." Dani said, "But we're both okay. And I wanna appreciate that fact." Dani said. "We are seriously lucky that my car isn't upside down somewhere on the road with another car crushed into it."

Santana smiled slightly and nodded her head, "Okay."

"Thank you." Dani said.

"You're pretty shaken up about this, aren't you?"

Dani nodded "On some level, yes." She admitted, "I'm just happy that the worst of it was that the smell of burning rubber made me feel sick."

There was a beat of silence before Santana said, "Yeah but now we don't get to see any titis." She smiled slightly and nudged Dani lightly in the ribs, bringing a small grin to the shorter girl's face.

oOoOo

It was almost an hour and a half later when the recovery truck pulled up beside the car. "Finally." Santana said when the man stepped out of the truck, "You're late, you told me forty-five minutes," she continued, annoyance filling her tone of voice. The truck driver wasn't much older than Dani and Santana, he was a man in his early twenties, with ashy blonde hair.

His hands were covered in oil, as were his clothes, "What seems to be the problem ladies," he said looking between the two girls.

Dani sighed, "My tire blew," she explained pointing to the ruined tire that was now near the back of the car, after they had both moved it. "And my spare tire is flat, so now we're trapped halfway between home and Cleveland." She said, "Any chance you can actually help us, got a spare tire on you that'll fit this thing?" She said pointing to her car. "We just really need to get going again." Dani said stressing her point.

He shook his head, "Nope sorry darlin'." He said, looking directly at Dani, he had a strong South Carolina accent when he spoke, and the whitest teeth that Dani had ever seen, well other than Santana's. Santana rolled her eyes at the man and the way he spoke to Dani, "I can get you to a tire shop though, but it'll cost ya." He said with a small shrug and a wink.

Dani sighed and was about to open her mouth to say something when Santana cut her off, "Whoa, whoa, whoa." Santana said, "Cost her what?" She asked, noticing the way he was looking at the blonde and not liking it in the slightest bit.

He chuckled slightly and shrugged, "What ever she can give me." He smiled at Dani, trying to win her over.

The shorter girl rolled her eyes and said, "How much is this going to cost me, in cash?"

He shrugged, "I won't know until we get there." He said honestly. "Go get in the truck while I fasten your car to the tow." He smiled, "I'll be there ASAP."

Santana and Dani walked away quickly. "I don't like him." Santana said shaking her head, "I don't like him at all." She didn't know where it came from, but she couldn't help but feel slightly jealous and protective in that moment.

"Why not?" Dani said as she climbed into the truck struggling slightly with the high step, Santana placed her hands on Dani's waist and helped her in. "Thank you." She said smiling when Santana sat beside her, "All he is doing is being friendly." She shrugged, "He's probably like it with all the girls."

"Hmm. I think he has more than friendship on his mind."

Dani rolled her eyes and said, "What does it matter. He's helping us isn't he?" She said, "Look, the sooner we get a new tire, the sooner me and you get to see some titis." Dani said, bringing a small smile to Santana's face. What she hadn't realised was that just as she had started speaking, the truck driver had opened the door and could hear everything she said.

"Oh so that's why you're in such a rush." He said winking at them both.

Dani's mouth dropped open slightly, she closed it quickly and bit the inside of her mouth to keep from laughing, her face had started to turn a light shade of pink, she turned her head and rested it on Santana's shoulder while she tried to fight against her laughter. The brunette tried not to laugh too much; instead she just shook her head and said, "It's not how it sounds." She placed her hand on the side of Dani's head, covering her face slightly.

"Sure it's not." He said sarcastically.

Dani lifted her head off of Santana's shoulder and shook her head mouthing, 'Why me?' Santana chuckled slightly, before taking Dani's hand in her own, lacing their fingers together. Dani squeezed Santana's hand lightly, screwing up her face slightly as she did so, making another smile appear on Santana's face.

The drive to the tire shop was hell on earth for Dani. It was another forty minutes of travelling to find the closest tire shop on account of most of them being shut because it was a Sunday.

It was another forty minutes, of the man, who they had learned was called, Harry, making jokes at their expense, which Dani tried to play along with, until the man had taken it too far, even angering Santana. Dani could deal with Santana's jokes, no matter how far she went with them. But she wasn't sure she could take it from a perfect stranger.

Dani had tried explaining a number of times that they were headed to the zoo and that Santana wanted to see an animal called a reed titi, but the man continued to shake his head laughing at her.

oOoOo

When they got to the tire shop Santana jumped out of the truck and helped Dani out after she had paid the man one-hundred-and-forty-dollars (That she had had to take out of an ATM outside the tire shop).

"Oh and you two." He said, the girls stopped dead in their tracks and turned around to face him, "Have fun with those titties." He chuckled and winked at Dani before driving away.

"I am mortified." Dani said shaking her head but laughing lightly all the same.

"It's funny though." Santana replied.

"Yeah, I guess." Dani said, "But, he went too far with it."

"Okay, I agree with that, he did." Santana nodded, "But silver lining time." She said smiling, "We never have to see, Dirty Harry again."

"At least there's that." Dani said, "Unless my luck strikes again and this tire blows on the way home."

"Why would you even jinx something like that?" Santana said. "Now it's definitely going to happen. You suck." She joked.

"Shut up and come on." Dani said opening the door and allowing Santana to walk in before her.

oOoOo

They had another long wait for the tire to be fixed, instead of changing just the one; they gave Dani four new tires. "Today is just not our day." Dani said quietly while she sipped some of the coffee she had gotten free from the vending machine.

"Really? A free coffee doesn't balance this thing out?" Santana asked sarcastically.

Dani shook her head, "No not really." She shrugged.

Santana sighed and said, "I'm proud of us." Dani quirked her eyebrow at her friend, "Let's face it, we've done well today." Santana said, "We haven't yelled at each other, and neither of us have murdered the other yet." She smiled, "I keep saying this but, silver lining."

Dani rolled her eyes, "You can't say we haven't yelled when we had our little road side domestic." Dani said shrugging slightly. "Sorry. But its' the truth."

A small smile spread across Santana's face, "Dani... We made it through our first fight." She said jokingly.

"Oh my god, we did." Dani said putting on a mock excited voice and smiling slightly. "Wow we best mark this anniversary down." She rolled her eyes, "Honestly though, I am so glad I am going through something like this with you." She admitted.

"Why?"

"Because, we've managed to make it fun." Dani said, "My other friends would be stressing out right about now." She said with a shrug, "We're not. We just keep making crappy jokes about some animal we may or may not get chance to see." Dani said. "And I'm just happy I'm with you right now." Dani said honestly.

Santana smiled, "Well this wasn't what I had in mind for my Sunday, but I've got to be honest, I could be experiencing worse things. And I could be with worse people." She said. I could be with way worse people.

Dani smiled, "Worst person to be in a situation like this with?" Dani asked.

"Out of anyone in the world, or people we know?"

"Stick to people we actually know." Dani said, "Makes it more fun, I think."

"Rachel Berry." Santana said, "She'd be stressing out right now, she'd be terrible. Well, her or Quinn." There was a beat of silence before Santana said, "No definitely, Rachel... What about you?"

"Adriana." Dani said without a seconds though. "She'd be terrible. She'd probably be crying and on the phone to 'daddy', asking him to help us out even though he is in Columbus." Dani said using air quotations on the word, daddy. "She'd most definitely be blaming me for all of this, like even the fact the tire blew in the first place, if she was here that would definitely be my fault." Dani said. "She'd be a nightmare."

"She really that bad?"

Dani nodded her head, "Don't get me wrong, I love the girl." She said, "But Jesus Christ, I think I'd murder her."

oOoOo

"Okay." Dani said running a hand through her hair and yawning. "This is officially the worst day trip ever."

Santana smiled, "Could be worse." Santana said as she popped another piece of chocolate into her mouth. "I mean, at least we aren't alone."

"I suppose." Dani said as she sucked on another one of her cherry drops that Santana had bought her. She had mentioned to her when they were in the store that they were her favourite. And since Dani had spent a hell of a lot of money that day already, Santana decided to buy her a few packs of the candy.

"And we have candy." Santana said smiling.

"That we do..." She said nodding her head "Thank you."

"For what?" She said.

"The candy." Dani said.

"Yeah, because spending about five dollars on candy really makes up for the hundreds you have spent just to get us here." She shook her head, "Where did you even get the money?"

Dani sighed, "Every month my mom and dad put some money in mine, Will and Adriana's accounts, I just save mine more than they do, so I always have money... They could stop putting money in mine and I'd be okay." She said.

"Won't they be annoyed that you just spent that much on a tow truck and some tires?"

Dani shook her head, "They won't ever find out about this... though now I am very low on funds, but I haven't had the instalment this month yet, so I'm too worried."

"So if they do stuff like that, what about college funds?"

"We all have a trust fund, too, that's pretty much the college fund." Dani said, "But dad only lets us have that if we do an academic class, so no art classes." Dani said with an eye roll, "What about you? Do you have anything like that?"

Santana nodded her head, "I have a college fund, I know that, erm but they don't put money in my account." She said, "They just give me it if and when I need it, and any change I have left over from any money I get, I save." She said. There was a beat of silence before Santana looked out of the windshield. "Have we even moved yet?" Santana asked as she looked out at the string of traffic in front of them.

Dani shook her head slowly, "Nope, we've been stuck in the same spot for about fifteen minutes now." Dani sighed. "Walking to Cleveland would have been fast than this." She said.

"So what can we do to pass the time?" Santana asked.

oOoOo

"Okay, I am guessing that today we just weren't supposed to go to Cleveland." Dani said.

"What do you mean?" Santana asked turning her head to face the shorter girl.

"Well look at everything that has happened today." She said, "The tire blowing, then the spare tire being flat so we couldn't get going." Dani said, "Then us calling triple A on one of those emergency telephones and the code on the phone ending in 11-5." She said, "The truck not getting to us until 11:05. Then the phone number of the truck rings, and they talk about a phone number ending in 666." Dani chuckled.

"Then us finally getting on the road again and getting stuck in a shit load of traffic and then finally getting to Cleveland, but you're allergies bothering you at this point in the year?" Dani said, Santana furrowed her eyebrows at the other girl. "But now we're on our way home and nothing." Dani said, "You feel better, like you can see again. I mean, your eyes aren't streaming with tears anymore. There is no traffic and it's all clean sailing, seriously, we'll be back home in about twenty minutes, tops." Dani said, "Come on, it's a sign!"

"Okay some of that, I kinda understand where you are coming from, like with the six, six, six, thing." She admitted, "But what is so special about the whole eleven-five theme?" Santana asked. "The only reason I made note of that phone code was so the truck guy could find us."

"My birthday is November fifth; eleven-five." Dani replied.

"Oh." Santana said, furrowing her eyebrows slightly.

"See it's a sign."

"It's not a sign." Santana said chuckling slightly at the other girl.

"Yes it is!" Dani said, "I am a huge believer in all of this kind of stuff. It's a sign, something was keeping us away from Cleveland today." Dani said, "You can't account for everything that went wrong today, admit it."

"I am never admitting that." Santana said, "Because one, you're crazy." Santana said, "And two, have you ever heard of coincidence? Or maybe just simple bad luck?"

"San, this was more than just bad luck." Dani said, Santana shook her head, "You know what, say what you want but I know it's a sign, we'll try again one day and I bet we get there."

"Of course we will." Santana said, "Because seriously, no one is unlucky enough for this to happen to them twice, and if we do ever get in another situation like this. I am never getting in a car with you again."

"Exactly, you just said it, something like this wouldn't ever happen again." Dani said, "Its fate, we weren't supposed to go to Cleveland today, something is keeping us away from it."

"Dani I swear to God..." Santana said through a small smile. Even though she didn't agree with Dani's beliefs on signs and fate, and would usually find this type of talk extremely irritating, she couldn't help but find Dani adorable in that moment.

And that made Santana feel extremely uncomfortable.

The car went silent for roughly thirty seconds before Dani said, "It's totally a sign."

oOoOo

It was seven p.m. but they were home after what felt like one of the longest days of their lives. Dani climbed out of the car quickly, she couldn't wait to stretch her legs out. "What a day." Dani said smiling slightly. Santana nodded slowly, Dani sighed and said "Since the day was pretty lame, do you want to come inside? I'll make some dinner." She offered.

Santana nodded her once again, "Please, I. Am. Starving." She said.

They both walked into the house just chatting animatedly about the day and how they couldn't actually believe how much of a bust it had been. Santana was making a joke about the truck man, as they walked into the kitchen. Dani stopped dead in the doorway when she saw Will standing by the fridge and his three friends sitting at the kitchen island.

When Dani closed the door they all turned round to look at them. They looked between Santana and Dani with confused expression on their faces.

"What are they doing here?" Dani asked pointing to the three boys.

"I invited them over after the game." Will said, "The game that you ditched us for... Now I see why." He said looking at Santana from over Dani's shoulder.

"Oh right... I totally forgot about that, oh well, it was only Ohio State," She said with a small shrug, she turned to face the girl behind her and smiled slightly, "San, you know Will," she said pointing at her brother, who waved at the other girl awkwardly, "That's Jonah," she said pointing to a dark haired, rather muscular boy, "Kyle," she said pointing to a thinner, shorter boy with mousy brown hair sitting next to him. "And that one on the end is Luke." She said, the tall, lean blonde haired boy waved at them both when Dani said his name. "Guys, this is Santana, from next door." She said pointing to the girl beside her. "San, have a seat, I'll make us some food." She said smiling.

Santana sat on the end next to Luke, who was watching every move that Dani made. Dani walked around to where Will stood, he quirked his eyebrow at her and gave her a knowing look, before she sent him a warning glare.

"So what have you girls been up to today?" Jonah asked, he rested his elbow on the kitchen island and sat his head in his hand.

Dani chuckled, "We tried going to Cleveland, but it just didn't happen." She said.

"Why Cleveland?" Kyle asked confused.

"Did you want to do some shopping?" Jonah asked in a teasing tone.

"No." Santana said, "We wanted to see some titis." Santana said smirking slightly. Dani laughed loudly, while the four boys looked between them. Santana's smile grew when she heard Dani's laughter once again.

"You wanted to see some what!" Will said.

"Titis, they're this type of monkey thing." Dani explained, "We wanted to go to the zoo but, it wasn't in the cards." She said with a shrug. "Shit happened, and we're back here now."

"Oh why not just say monkey then?" Will said. "Saying you want to see titis sounds kind of weird, Dan." He said.

"I don't think it sounds wired." Luke said, "Funny, yeah...but wired no." He said shaking his head, Dani sent him a friendly wink, and watched him blush slightly. Santana watched the boy's reaction and smirked slightly, she looked to Dani, who simply shrugged.

oOoOo

Dani and Santana had spent longer with Will and his friends than Santana would have liked, she wanted it to be just her and Dani, that's how she preferred it. And now she had to go home

"Hmm, I think your brother's friend has quite the crush on you." Santana said.

Dani quirked her eyebrow, "Seriously?" She said, Santana nodded her head. "I doubt that very much."

"No seriously Dan, he was totally checking you out."

"Oh my God, really?" Dani asked with mock enthusiasm, "I'm cured Santana, I want the boys now!" She joked, she shook her head and smiled, while Santana chuckled at the shorter girl. "But in all seriousness, which one?" Dani asked Santana furrowed her eyebrows at the other girl. "I'm not gonna do anything, ew!" She said, "It's just that, someone thinks I'm hot, I've got the right to know who." She said.

"The blonde one." Santana said, "I don't remember what you said his name was. I didn't really listen."

"Oh that one's Luke." Dani said, "And he's actually quite nice, if and when he talks." Dani admitted, "I don't know why he talks to people like Jonah and Kyle, they're the exact opposite of him. They're loud and obnoxious."

"Hmm, well maybe he is too until you show up... maybe you just have that affect on him." You have that effect on me. Dani rolled her eyes. "You know something; seeing how Will reacted when I said we wanted to see some Titis, I can see why no one knows you're gay." Santana said.

Dani shook her head, "No, Will does know." She said, "I told him when I was in sophomore year that I was a bisexual." She said shrugging. "I said bi because I didn't want to tell him I was fully lesbian." Dani said. "He was the first person that I actually told and said it out loud to." Dani admitted. "He know's I'm a lesbian now though. I told him that in junior year. Didn't want to lie to him any longer."

"So why the wired reaction then?"

"Because, Jonah, Kyle and Luke don't know I'm gay." She said with a small smile, "He's gotta keep up some form of facade, neither of us like doing it, but we have to." Dani said with a small shrug, "At least until I tell my mom and dad, once they know, everyone else can and will know."

Santana nodded her head, "So who are the other's that know?" She said.

"My two exes." Dani said with a shrug, "And I mean, they know because... Well obviously, I'd have to like girls to be with one." She said laughing slightly.

"So, how come you opened up so easily to me then, about being gay, but you won't tell anyone else until your mom and dad know." Santana asked, it was something that she had been wondering for a week now. She liked that Dani had been open and honest with her, but still, it was evident that even some of Dani's closest friends didn't know, yet she did.

"Because I knew that you wouldn't judge me." She said, "You're a lesbian, too." She shrugged. "I knew that when I told you, you'd just accept it." She admitted. "Which, you obviously did." Dani smiled, "I told you that I have only told people I know won't judge me."

"Oh." Santana said.

Dani chuckled, "Are you honestly that clueless or do you just not listen to people?"

"A little bit of both." Santana admitted jokingly.

Dani nodded her head, "That's what I thought." She said.

Santana pulled the shorter girl into the cuddle, wrapping her arms around her waist and burrowing her face in Dani's neck. Dani smiled and wrapped her arms around Santana's neck, holding her closer. Dani couldn't help but notice the way that Santana smelled, her coconut shampoo filling the shorter girl's senses and making her feel slightly light headed.

Santana started to sway slightly, making Dani laugh before the shorter girl pulled away.

"I guess I should let you get going." Dani said, "I've pretty much kept you to myself all day... again." Dani said.

Santana shook her head, "Honestly, I really don't mind." She said, "I don't have anything else to do."

"Well, I am sorry that today didn't go smoothly." Dani said, "I guess we'll just have to try again." She shrugged.

"We will... But don't worry about it, I did have fun." Santana said, "Oh, and you owe me a titi sighting, Daniellaaar." Santana said. "And I will collect it."

"We are still talking about the monkey's right?" Dani asked quirking her eyebrow at Santana and smirking, the way Dani asked the question paired with the look on her face made Santana's heart lurch forwards and blush climb up her cheeks.

"Y-yeah." Santana said, "I'm going to go h-home now...bye." She said before quickly turning on her heel, leaving a very amused Dani standing on her front shook her head slowly as she walked back inside her house, her smile never leaving her face.

"Are you two dating?" Will asked, he was stood in the hallway, not to far away from the door, waiting to pounce when she walked in.

Dani shook her head slowly, "No." She said, "We're uh, we're just friends." For some reason, saying that they were 'just friends' seemed to bother Dani.

"Oh..." He said, "That's probably a good thing."

"Why is it a good thing?" Dani asked tilting her head slightly, Will quirked his eyebrow at her, she rolled her eyes and said, "I'm not saying that I want to be with her," well maybe just a one time thing, like just one night together… wait what!? Dani quickly shook those thoughts from her mind, "I just want to know why you think it's so good that I'm not?"

He shrugged, "Well. Look at your last two breakups. It'd probably be even worse if she lived next door to us." Will said.

Dani felt her heart sink slightly when she thought back to her last two relationships and how they had ended. She couldn't help but wonder if Santana would treat her the same way. "Well honestly, you don't have to worry about that happening with us two, we're, like, best friends." Dani said, trying to keep her voice even.

"Best friends?" He asked Dani nodded her head slowly.

"Yeah, that's what I said." She replied. Urgh! Best friends! Dani thought, she'd never had a problem with it before, being best friends with someone, she couldn't understand why she hated being Santana's best friend so much, but suddenly, she did.

"So, she does know you're gay then, right?" He asked.

Dani nodded her head slowly, "Yeah, I told her."

"Hmm." He said, "Interesting."

"If you think that's interesting, you lead a very boring life, William." She said before walking past him and going into her bedroom.

She flopped down onto her bed and pulled her phone out of her pocket to see that she had received a text from Santana. A beaming smile made it's way to her face as she opened the text.

From Sandbags
Just thought I'd send you a pair of titis

Dani couldn't help but laugh at the picture Santana sent just after it, it was two Reed titis sitting in a tree. She quickly wrote back a reply.

To Sandbags
They are beautiful! Thanks for that ;)

From Sandbags
Don't mention it, anytime

Dani chuckled and shook her head slightly, before sending her a reply.

To Sandbags
Thanks again, next time I wanna see some titis, I know who to come too ;)

She locked her phone and stuffed it under her pillow rather than throwing it in her draw like she usually would. After all, she didn't want to miss another text from Santana.

Another really long chapter here, I hope that's not a problem?

I took some stuff from real life for this chapter, like all of the stuff that happed to Dani and Santana preventing them from getting to Cleveland.

That stuff did really happen to me and my sister one day last year, it stopped us going to a theme park. It was a bitch of a day.

Our tire really did blow, the spare really was flat, and when my sister went to use the emergency phone on the side of the road, I did see an animal, it was a deer.

The trucks phone number did end in 666 and the code for the phone, and the time that we got picked up by the truck was my sister's birth date- I just used a different day for Dani's in this chapter.

As always thank you to those of you who have read and reviewed this story, it means so much to me, thank you to those of you who have favourited I appreciate that, too and a big thank you to the people who have added this story to their alerts, over 100 of you :D THANK YOU!
