Fifteen

Santana rushed up the stairs and headed straight for Dani's bedroom, she dropped onto Dani's bed and she pulled the corner of the comforter up to cover her mouth and let out a muffled scream. Hoping that she'd be able to let out all of her frustration with it. She dropped the comforter and let out a short, shallow breath of air, she shook her head slowly, she definitely felt stupid for screaming like she had, but she needed to get it all out.

She stood up quickly and grabbed the first towel that she could find from Dani's closet, followed by one of the girl's over-sized 'sleeping' sweaters, luckily for her, her pants didn't need to be changed, she'd managed to avoid getting any of the baking ingredients on them. She walked into the bathroom, and locked the door behind her. "Fuck." She said to herself, she looked in the mirror and widened her eyes at her reflection.

The batter on the end of her nose had started to dry up slightly, and there was still egg clinging to her making it all stick together, parts of the shell remained ever present, sticking fast to the raw egg whites and the burst yolk. She screwed her face up in disgust and pulled out the pieces of the shell from her hair, leaving them on the windowsill. She made a mental note to clean them up later.

Yeah she easily won that fight! Santana mused as she continued to look at herself in the mirror. The most that had happened to Dani was a small amount of batter on the tip of her nose, and some flour in her hair and on her clothing, other than that, she had come away untouched. Santana had missed most of her shots that she'd had at Dani; the shorter girl had been way to quick for her to actually hit.

She sighed and turned the shower on quickly, wanting every trace of the food fight to be gone. She listened to the sound of the water hammering on the bottom of the bathtub, and all she could do was replay the last few minutes over in her head; starting from when she first flicked the flour in Dani's face and ending with her being stood in the bathroom now.

She couldn't stop thinking about how she and Dani seemed to go from zero to sixty and then all the way back down to zero again in such a short amount of time.

She took a deep breath; in through her nose and back out through her mouth. She needed to calm down; she knew she needed to calm down. But as usual, Santana's mind was going into over drive as she started to over think the situation for the second time that afternoon.

If I could just turn back the clock to about ten minutes ago, I can assure you now that this would most definitely not be happening. I'd probably still start the fight obviously; I've never been much of a fan of baking, and to me, that fight had made the baking fun. But I definitely wouldn't have continued the fight after Dani threw the handful of flour at me.

Well, at least not knowing what I know now. Because after I retaliated everything just escalated far too quickly. And now because of me… us?... because of us everything is messed up and there is absolutely nothing that either of us can do about it.

She sighed and sat on the toilet seat, while she waited for the water to heat up.

I should have just refused to come up here, just point blank refused and stood my ground and said 'no'. I should still be down there helping her. That way she'd have no choice but to talk to me, or at least, she'd have no choice but to listen to me. Maybe then we'd be able to sort this whole thing out, rather than both of us being alone with the knowledge of what happened hanging over us. We could actually try and discuss what happened between us, well, that is if she wanted to.

Instead, I'm up here alone, wondering if she is okay, wondering is she is talking about me, or if she has said anything about me to Will. He walked in on us, and he knows that she's a lesbian; he is one of the only people other than me that does know. Surely she's said something to him, she'll need to talk about this just as much as I do, right? And she only has Will.

Oh god! Do Jonah and Kyle know now, too? Has she had to tell them because of what they saw, or what they nearly saw? Or have they guessed because of that? Have I fucked all of this up between me and Dani on a bigger scale than I originally thought?

Why can't she just be open about who she is? That would make all of this a hell of a lot easier. At least then I wouldn't have to worry about potentially ruining her life.

-o-

Dani sat with her back pressed against the kitchen island, she leaned her head backwards and closed her eyes, she breathed in and out evenly, trying to calm herself down from what had just happened. She looked down at the floor where the egg and flour that Santana had thrown at her had landed. She twirled her finger around in it slowly, drawing small patterns in the food.

She heard the door open and she froze.

Oh fuck, she's back! Oh god, oh god! What do I do? What am I supposed to say to her? Am I supposed to say anything? Do I bring it up? Shall I ignore it? Can this thing actually be ignored? I don't know what to do… fuck what can you do in a situation like this. I have no experience with something like this!

She wasn't left pondering for long; the sound of familiar voice pulled her away from her thoughts. "Dan, are you okay?"

She stood up slowly and gave her brother a weak smile and an unsure nod of her head, "Yeah." She lied with a small shrug, "I'm fine," She said with a shaky voice.

Will shook his head, "No you're not."

"No really I am." She said, her tone of voice giving her away.

"Look Dan, it's just you and me in here now, so I'm gonna ask you a question and I want you to give me an honest answer." He said, "What really happened in here?" He asked

"Nothing."

"Nothing?"

Dani nodded her head, "Yeah nothing happened." That's why I'm so annoyed idiot, had you not walked in when you did chances are something very easily could have and most probably would have happened.

"I'm not buying it, Dani." He said, "two people don't suddenly start acting the way you two just did with each other for no reason," he shrugged, "So I am guessing something happened." He said, "And now you're freaked out about it because you don't know what to do about it." He said, "That or nothing happened and you both secretly wanted something to happen and it didn't and now you don't know how to go about that."

Seriously Will, you're wasting your perceptiveness, go into a career with that shit. "You're wrong." Dani lied.

He shook his head, "No I'm not and you know I'm not. Dani I know you way too well," he said, he sat down on one of the stools and sighed, "I actually think I know you better than you do… so why not just be honest with me?" He said.

She sighed in exasperation, "Okay fine." She said, "Santana and I were baking, and she really did start a food fight, but, the fight didn't really start until I retaliated. Then she backed me up against the fridge and I guess, we almost kissed, or at least it felt like we might kiss, but then you walked in with Jonah and Kyle and that freaked me out and we both moved away from each other before either of us could actually make the first move." She shrugged, "And that's what happened."

"And you're pissed because?" He asked, trying to push Dani into being open with him.

"Because…" She paused, she sighed, "I don't actually know." She lied with a small shrug, Dani had never been a bad liar; she'd been lying to everyone other than Will about who she was since she was sixteen. But like the younger boy said, he knew Dani. He knew her all to well.

"Because you like Santana." He said he couldn't believe he actually had to tell his sister this. Dani knew he was right, she knew how she felt about the other girl. She just didn't want to admit it. She never wanted to admit to things like this.

"Well yeah, of course I like her. She's my best friend you ass, it'd be a little awkward if I didn't like her, don't you think?" She asked chuckling slightly, as she tried to play off her brother's accusations. "That's why I'm pissed, because now it's awkward." Not entirely a lie.

"Dani I don't mean like that, and you know for a fact that I don't." He said, "And you're not pissed about that, not really. You're pissed because you didn't make a move on her and you had the perfect chance. But, you're also pissed she didn't make a move on you."

Dani shook her head, "No." She said quietly.

"Yes." He said, "Look you've always thought she was hot and she is." He said making the shorter girl scowl slightly, "Now you're getting pissed because I called her hot where as you never used to before." He said, "You do like her, I know you, and I know the type that you go for and she's it." he said, "You can be honest with me. Fuck, other than Santana I'm the only person you can tell, but I'm sensing you don't wanna tell Santana this?"

Dani rolled her eyes; there were many things she would admit to Will. And there were many things that she would gladly talk to him about, but she wasn't sure if this was one of them or not.

"Look, I will admit to you that, I do think that she's extremely beautiful and she is a great person. But I don't like her like that."

Will shook his head slowly, "Seriously, you're going to sit there and say that after that little confession."

"Yeah because it's the truth I don't... I mean I can't..." Dani bit her bottom lip slightly, she knew she liked Santana and she knew that what she felt for her was more than just some crush. She just wasn't ready for anyone to know that yet.

"Dani!"

"Okay fine." Dani said shrugging slightly, "I do like her, a lot actually." Dani admitted Will smiled at her, feeling slightly triumphant in the situation. "But Will you can't say anything." Dani said shaking her head. "Like, not even in a joking way. You can't mention anything about this... Okay?"

"Well why not? What if she really likes you, too?"

Dani shook her head, "I doubt that she does."

"I don't know, I'd say she did, the way she is with you makes me think that she does, but I don't really know her. You know her better than I do."

"Look I can't do anything about this. I don't think she likes me and I don't want to risk saying anything and have this thing blow up in my face and then have me ruin things more than I already might have."

"Yeah but what if she does like you. It'd be well worth the risk then, right?" He said, "You could tell her that you like her and you could get way more than just friendship." He said quirking his eyebrow at his sister.

"Will, I really can't risk this." Dani said, "Because honestly, I'd rather have her in my life as just a friend and nothing more than not have her there at all. I can live life like this," Dani said quietly, not that I want to, but hey it's only until the end of senior year, right? "I mean, look at how all of my other relationships with 'friends' have ended." She said, "They hate me now, and I really don't want Santana to hate me."

"She won't."

"You don't know that!"

"So what?" He asked with a shrug, "You'd just rather go on pining after her?"

"I'm not pining am I!?" Dani said, she didn't think she was, but she didn't know what it looked like from the outside. "I am happy with her being my friend. Would I like there to be more? Hell yeah." Dani said, "But I just don't ever see that happening. Look at her and look at me." Dani shrugged.

Will shook his head at his elder sister. "Seriously, start giving yourself more credit, Dan." He said, "You'll never hear this from me again and if you tell anyone I will totally just deny it... But you're actually really pretty." He said, "And you're not a terrible person either." He said, "Santana could do a damn sight worse than you and if she doesn't see that, then she doesn't deserve you." He said with a small shrug.

Dani smiled at him weakly. "Thanks." She mumbled.

"You're welcome." He replied, "Now if you will excuse me, I am going back down into the den to get away from this sloppy moment we just had. I need some testosterone back in my body."

"How do you plan on doing that?"

"Football with the guys."

"Yeah because watching a bunch of guys drag each other to the ground is extremely heterosexual." Dani said sarcastically.

"No, but we're only watching it for the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders and that is a pretty heterosexual thing to do… well unless you're you, lezzy." He smirked before walking away from the girl. Dani let out a breathy laugh before throwing the dirty sponge at the back of Will's head.

oOoOo

Dani had finally finished cleaning up the kitchen after Will had finally left her too it after there little heart to heart, and now she had nothing more to do, she couldn't stall any longer. The thought of having to go upstairs to see Santana and make things right with her brought on a tidal wave of panic.

Everything's okay, it's all gonna be okay. Just talk to her about all of this. I am sure everything will be fine, I mean, I'm fine… okay so I'm not fine, I am far from being fine, this whole situation, is very far from being fine!

She took a deep breath and shook the thoughts from her head, figuring that it'd just be best to go up stairs and get this thing over with, she walked up the stairs slowly, her heart rate increasing every time she took a step closer to her bedroom.

She swallowed the lump in her throat and knocked on the door.

"San?" She said quietly. "Am I okay to come in?"

"Yeah," Santana replied in a quiet, timid voice, "I'm decent." She said, Dani took a deep breath trying to calm her nerves before she edged her way into the bedroom, she stood in the doorway and sent Santana a weak smile.

"Hey." She said quietly.

"Hi." Santana said, "I hope that you don't mind, but I had to borrow one of your sweaters, my shirt is kind of messy now." She said explained, "it's only until tomorrow though, I swear." she said. "And I had to use your shampoo and conditioner too, you made a mess of my hair." She said, her hair was still damp, she hadn't bothered drying it; she had too many things on her mind for that.

Dani nodded her head and let out a breathy laugh, "That's totally fine, don't even worry about it." She said, "That sweater looks really good on you by the way." She said. What the fuck is wrong with you? Seriously! You're saying things like that to her now!

"Thanks." Santana said, she tugged on her sleeves on the over sized sweater, pulling them further down her hands.

The air around them suddenly turned silent, and it seemed to get heavier with the weight of what had just happened between them both playing on their minds.

Dani sighed and rolled her eyes, deciding that one of them had to break the silence first and that it might as well be her. "Look, I know that thing down there did just happen. I'm not going to say that it didn't, I don't think either of us should do that, it shouldn't be ignored." Dani said, "But San, I really don't want this." She said motioning between the two of them. Santana looked up and gave Dani a confused and hurt look. "The awkwardness, I mean."

Santana nodded her head slowly, "Yeah, I totally agree with you." She said, "It's not right," she said.

"Well good," Dani said, "because although, something nearly happened, it didn't actually happen." Yeah no shit Sherlock, "And I honestly think that maybe it would have been worse if it had actually happened." Dani said slowly only because I'd have looked like an idiot though.

-Gee thanks Dan, I guess kissing me would have been worse than this! Confidence boost, not!

"Yeah, I totally agree." Santana said. "I mean, that didn't mean anything anyway right?" She sighed, "I guess that we both just got carried away. So don't worry about it, I'm not."

You're a terrible liar, tell her the fucking truth, worst that can happen is she says no! But I think that literally is the worst thing that could happen to me right now! I'm not used to rejection, I don't think I could take it.

Dani nodded her head, "Oh okay..." She said, "I'm really sorry, by the way." She said quietly as she walked towards the bed, she sat down slowly next to the taller girl.

"What for?"

"Snapping at you, that's not me." She said, "Not really anyway, I guess I overreacted, I can sometimes." She said.

"I don't think you did." Santana said, "Well maybe a little." She said with a slight eye roll, "but I think a lot of people would have acted the same way. I think I would have, well with certain people. Not everyone though."

Dani shook her head, "No it's not you!" She said, "It's the fact that, the whole thing scared me a little, like y'know, Will walking into the kitchen with Jonah and Kyle. I got scared that they almost saw something, I don't want them to figure it all out from that." She said.

"Dani what the hell are you talking about?" Santana asked she could feel her anger rising again. "Seriously, what could they have figured out?" She asked.

"That I'm a lesbian." Dani said, "and that I…" just tell her, take a risk! She took a deep breath and swallowed hard, "that I like you."

Santana furrowed her eyebrows at the other girl, "You like me?" She asked Dani nodded her head slowly.

"Yeah." She said, "I really, really like you." She took a deep breath, "and, now I'm just really annoyed at myself, because they only almost saw something." She shrugged, "I hate that I didn't do anything down there, but honestly, I don't know what to do about any of this because once again, I'm terrified." The air around them went silent once again, say something, Santana please say something! Say anything!

Santana took a deep breath, do something, don't leave it all on her, she's said her part say yours. She swallowed hard, "I really like you, too." She said.

"You do?"

Santana nodded her head, "Yeah. I really do." She heard Dani let out a breath of relief, a small smile spreading across her face.

Santana leaned forward to close the gap between them. Once again Santana stopped when her nose nudged against Dani's, she pulled back slightly and glanced down, her eyes focused mainly on the shorter girl's lips, when she looked up again, she saw that Dani's eyes were trained on her lips.

"We're being ridiculous." Dani whispered Santana gave the girl a questioning look. Dani shook her head slowly, "not what I meant." Dani placed a hand on the back of Santana's neck, a place that had once been reserved for Brittany's hand, she pulled Santana closer and closed the small gap between them capturing Santana's lips with her own.

Santana seemed to freeze when she felt Dani's lips against her own; it was the fear that had kept her still. But that soon died down, and before long she felt herself giving into Dani's kiss. Kissing her back with everything that she had in her.

Their lips found a steady rhythm with each others, it didn't take long for Dani to push her tongue into Santana's mouth, making the taller girl draw in a sharp breath through her nose, before letting it out as a soft sigh through her nose. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted from both of their shoulders.

Dani bit down on Santana's bottom lip gently before soothing it with her tongue and pushing her tongue back into Santana's mouth once more. She heard a soft moan leave Santana's mouth and she couldn't help but smile into the kiss.

Santana grabbed the hem of Dani's shirt in her hand, pulling her down with her as she laid herself down on the shorter girl's bed. Santana slid her hands underneath Dani's shirt, her fingers rested on Dani's ribs; she dragged her nails down Dani's toned stomach lightly, before she moved her hands upwards again.

As Santana's hands made their way to the shorter girl's chest, Dani pulled away slightly and bit her bottom lip, smiling slightly. "Whoa there, Casanova, maybe we should slow down a little?" She shook her head slowly as she grabbed Santana's wrists and moved her hands from under her shirt.

Santana nodded in agreement, "Yeah probably." She said. Dani sat up slowly, Santana sighed and pushed herself up as well.

"I mean it's not that I don't want to or anything."

"Yeah totally." Santana said.

"I just think we should, slow down… for now."

Santana chuckled, "No I agree." She said, "Don't worry about it." She said, she leaned forwards and stole a kiss from Dani; she pulled away and smiled at the shorter girl.

Dani stole a kiss from Santana and smiled brightly, "So…" Dani said drawing out the word, Santana laced their fingers together and squeezed Dani's hand gently.

Santana nodded her head slowly, "So…" she said.

"What do you wanna do now?" Dani said. Santana shrugged, Dani smiled and bit her bottom lip before sighing and saying "Do you still wanna watch the second Lord of The Rings Movie with me?" She said, "It's still early, and you do only live next door, and the film is only like, three hours long." She shrugged. "And it's better than the first one, I think."

Santana nodded her head, "Yeah sure." Santana smiled,

"Good."

"So are you gonna go down to the den and get it and bring it back here then?" She asked.

Dani shook her head; "No we'll be watching it in the den." She said, "It's one of the DVD's that doesn't get moved from being in there." She explained.

"But aren't Will, Jonah and Kyle in the den?" Santana asked Dani nodded her head slowly.

"Well yeah, but San they aren't gonna complain if we go and watch a movie, especially not that one," she shrugged, "They're teenage guys, they like it more than I do."

"That's not exactly why I was asking, and I think you know that." Santana said Dani smirked slightly.

"Oh…" she said, "I see." Santana nodded her head slowly. Dani stood up, pulling the taller girl up with her. "Well as much as I want to do that again, and trust me I do, it's only a three hour long movie, I am sure you can manage that?" Santana shook her head overly dramatically, "And now it's just you that's being ridiculous with this." She said smiling.

Santana shook her head, "I'm not being ridiculous." She said pouting in a joking manner.

"Yes you are, but I really don't mind." She said with a small shrug, she wrapped her arms around Santana's neck and stood on her tiptoes, she connected her lips with Santana's for a softer, less frantic kiss than their first. Dani traced Santana's bottom lip with her tongue before pushing her tongue into the taller girl's mouth.

Dani moved her hands up into Santana's dark hair; at the same time Santana wrapped her arms around Dani's waist, pulling her even closer against her. Dani pulled away first, and smile at the taller girl, "Come on," she said, "we've got a movie to watch."

oOoOo

They had watched the second Lord of The Rings movie in complete silence, Will had been watching them constantly, Dani and Santana had both seen him from the corner of their eyes. They had tried their best to ignore him, though Dani had found it hard, considering the conversation they had, had not too long ago about herself and Santana.

The only form of contact that Santana had with Dani was when the shorter girl, trailed her fingers down Santana's arm lightly, before she laced their fingers together. She had put their entwined hands in a position on her leg where the three boys couldn't see them.

Dani had wanted to kiss the girl again, had they been alone she definitely would have, but for now, she would settle with just kissing her in the privacy of her (or Santana's) bedroom.

Dani, Will and Santana all left the den at the same time, leaving Jonah and Kyle to choose the next movie that they watched. "Dan I'm getting everyone a drink, do you want one?" Will asked.

Dani nodded her head; "Yeah I'll be in the kitchen in a minute to get some snacks too, okay?" She asked.

He nodded his head, "Yeah that's fine… you know it's a real shame you never finished those cupcakes, you're an awesome baker." He grinned slightly, "You might even go as far as saying you're a master baker." He said quickly Santana let out a snort of laughter.

"Wanky."

She rolled her eyes, "You're disgusting." She said she turned her head to face a laughing Santana. " and really? You're gonna side with him?" She asked quirking her eyebrow slightly.

"No?" Santana said furrowing her eyebrows.

"That's what I thought." She said.

Will shook his head, "Anyway, I'm gonna leave you two alone, it seems safe to do so now?" He said with a small shrug, he turned on his heel and headed to the kitchen.

"What was that about?"

"He's talking about earlier and how hostile I was with you when I started cleaning up the mess, ignore him." Dani said with a shrug.

"Okay, I'll try." Santana replied.

Dani and Santana walked to the front door in silence, "Do you have to go home now? I mean Jonah and Kyle are still here."

"Yeah I know, but yeah I do have to go." She said, "Got some homework to do, I'm not like you, I don't actually use study hall to study, I use it to sleep." She admitted with a small shrug, "But I will see you again in the morning."

"Okay bye." She took a deep breath before she leaned up and placed a chaste kiss on Santana's lips, smiling slightly when she felt the taller girl add a small amount of pressure to her own lips.

"Okay, I might be going out on a limb here but… I was wondering if y'know maybe you wanted to…"

"Yeah." Dani said nodded her in head, "I'd like that." Dani said. Santana let out a breath she hadn't known she was even holding in. the blonde haired girl chuckled and shook her head slightly, "It was obvious that I was gonna say yes to you, you idiot. No need to be scared about that." She said.

"Not obvious to me." Santana said, "Still pretty nerve racking, for all I knew you hated kissing me and didn't want anything from me like tha-" Dani cut her off from her rambling by placing her hands on either side of her face and pulling her closer for another chaste kiss.

"Trust me, I definitely do not hate kissing you."

Santana let out another breath of relief, "Good," she said, "So I'll call you about the…"

"Sure, or you know, I guess I could always call you?"

Santana nodded her head, "Yeah that could work, too." She said smiling.

Dani bit her bottom lip and nodded, "Okay, sounds great." She said.

"Bye." Santana leaned down one last time and pecked Dani's lips quickly before turning on her heel and walking across the yard to get back into her own house.

Dani sighed and closed the door, she turned on her heel and walked into the kitchen Will was stood by the fridge. He turned his head when he heard the door close, "Hey you." He said, "I'm guessing everything's good with you and her now?" He asked, "I'd hate to just be assuming and then find out that everything is still up in the air for you both."

Dani nodded her head and walked towards the kitchen island, she smiled at her brother as she sat on one of the high stools. "Yeah, we're great now." She said.

"So you're still friends?" He asked.

Dani nodded and smiled, "Yeah everything is absolutely fine and dandy." She said cheerily.

"So you took a risk then?" He asked, Dani gave him a questioning look, "Did you take the risk? You know, telling her how you feel and all that jazz?"

"I might have risked it."

He widened his eyes at the elder girl, "You made out with her," he said, "I know that look, I've seen it on you before."

"Okay yes, I made out with her," Dani said, "a couple of times actually, but that's seriously it." Dani said, "Nothing else has come from it yet. Not really, we might have a date." She shrugged, "I don't actually know what's gonna happen from here on out."

"Well sounds to me like someone's gonna go on a date and freak out over little things like she usually does."

Dani nodded her head, "Yeah. Sounds about right for me."

oOoOo

"Hey you!" Santana said happily down the phone, even though Dani couldn't see her, she knew that the other girl was smiling from ear to ear.

"Hi." Dani said, she couldn't help but smile herself as she thought about the day that they'd had, the movie watching, the baking, the food fight, the almost kiss, the confrontation and then the actual kiss, all of it had led to this point.

"I know that I promised to call you so I am, how are you feeling?"

"You did, and thank you for keeping that promise." Dani said smiling, "I'm great thanks, what about you?"

Dani placed her phone down on her thigh and put it on speakerphone, she opened up her Netflix account and clicked on the first episode of the second season of Orange Is The New Black.

"Good… I'm great thanks, but why wouldn't I be? I kissed this really hot blonde girl earlier today, so my spirits are kind of high." She said.

Dani bit her bottom lip and smiled slightly, she couldn't resist teasing the taller girl. "Oh yeah? Lucky you, I haven't kissed anyone hot in a really long time." She joked.

"You know Dani, you're really not as funny as you think you are, seriously, it's a good job you're hot." She said with a small laugh.

"You know that I'm kidding, you're absolutely gorgeous, and you know for a fact you are." She said, "So what are you up to right now anyway?"

Dani sighed and started the episode again; she hadn't paid any attention to it so far; she'd been far too wrapped up in Santana. This time, however, she clicked on the small pause icon, not wanting to miss any of the show for a second time.

"Nothing, just talking to Carmen on Facebook, she's telling me all about the dramas of Ivy League colleges and the boys that go there… what about you?"

"Wow, that sounds fascinating." Dani said, only a hint of sarcasm in her tone of voice, "I'm not really doing anything, just watching some stuff on Netflix and talking to you."

"You know something, D?" Santana said, "I am never gonna be able to hear you say the word fascinating again, and it not sound as sarcastic as it did that day at the sign museum, you've actually ruined that word for me."

"Sorry," Dani said with a small shrug even though she knew that the taller girl couldn't see her, "So anyway, look, do you think that maybe we could…" Dani trailed off and let out an exasperated sigh. "You know because of earlier and everything I wanted to know if…." She trailed off again, Dani sighed and rolled her eyes at herself, seriously, you can kiss the girl but you can't ask her this? Sounds about right for you.

She heard Santana chuckle quietly, "Dani, do you wanna go out on a date with me this weekend?" Santana asked.

Dani let out a breath of relief "Yes, I do." Dani said, "I would honestly love that," she admitted with a nod of her head. Once again, she couldn't stop herself from smiling.

"What about Sunday?"

"Sunday's great." Dani said.

"Great." Santana said, "We can work out times and stuff closer to the actual day?"

"Sure, sounds good to me," Dani said.

-o-

"Sure, sounds good to me," Dani said.

"Okay good, do you have anything in mind that you wanna do or…"

"Nope, your choice, I'll do whatever." She said.

"Awesome, so no pressure on me to find something good to do then?" She asked.

Dani chuckled, "Nope, no pressure at all… honestly, don't worry about finding the 'perfect' thing, I am sure that whatever we do will be fun… we always have fun." Dani said. Santana couldn't stop the smile from creeping onto her lips; she honestly didn't understand how this girl was single.

She knew plenty of people that would be interested in taking Dani off of the market, she just didn't understand why her past girlfriends had been so bothered about her being in the closet.

She could definitely put up with being Dani's secret if it meant she could be anything more than just friends with the other girl.

"Yeah, you're right, we do." Santana said with a small nod.

"Look. I'm gonna get going now anyway, is that okay? I'll leave you to talk to Carmen about the drama of Ivy League, and I'll see you tomorrow… you're driving right?"

"Yeah, I am. Unless you want to?"

"Nope." Dani said popping the 'p' "I'll let you."

"Wow, you're so good to me." She replied sardonically.

"Yeah I am, and don't you forget it." Dani said jokingly, "bye" She said.

"Trust me, I won't." She said chuckling at the shorter girl, "I'll see you tomorrow tiny."

"Yeah bye."

"Bye."

And with that the other line went dead, Santana put her phone down on the bed besides her leg and did a small, excited fist pump. I'm going on a date with Dani, like an actual date! not just a day trip as friends, but we're going out! Dani actually likes me back, not only that but she initiated this. She kissed me first!

Santana was pulled from her train of thoughts by the quiet sound of her Facebook telling her that someone had sent her another inbox. She rolled her eyes at the message that Carmen had just sent her.

Carmen Lopez: But seriously, enough about that asshole and his little needle dick… anything interesting happening in your love life? x

Santana turned her mouth down in thought, she knew Dani was reserved about this type of thing, and she knew that she was still very secretive about her sexuality, she honestly didn't know if she'd be able to tell Carmen about Dani without the other girl getting mad.

Santana Lopez: Something interesting happened today for me. I kissed this girl and now we've got a date on Sunday x

Carmen Lopez: Wow you moved on fast! What about Brittany? x

Santana Lopez: Yeah I know… and I still care about Brittany, a hell of a lot, but that is 100% over now. We aren't gonna get back together, she's in Washington, she left me. This girl is actually here, and I like her and she likes me, so I asked her out x

Carmen Lopez: Whoa, sis I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, calm down. I'm just surprised you have moved on this fast, that's all. But seriously, I'm happy you have. I'm happy that you're not pining over her anymore… so who's this new girl, do I know her? x

Santana Lopez: Well good, I'm glad because it's happening either way… I doubt that you know her x

Okay so there's nothing wrong with a little white lie, yeah you know her Carmen, you also know her sister really well and you fucking hate her.

Carmen Lopez: You're a really big fucking help, what's her name? I'll tell you if I know her. x

Santana Lopez: Look she goes to McKinley, but she's pretty scared of people finding out that she's a lesbian right now, so I can't tell you. Not without her say so. x

Carmen Lopez: Jesus Christ, sounds like you're whipped already! So what's she like? x

Santana Lopez: I AM NOT WHIPPED!... but she's great, she's really, really great. She's gorgeous and fun. And we get along really well, we've been talking for a while and then today she told me how she felt and I feel the same way, so we kissed and then I asked her out on a date and she said yes x

Carmen Lopez: Yeah, sweetie you're whipped. And all of that stuffs real sweet and all, but what I mean is, what does she look like, you know give me details on that… I gave you them on Chad x

Santana Lopez: God knows I didn't ask for most of them though… she's short, blonde, big brown eyes, really cute smile. She's just, she's hot okay? Just take it as read that she is absolutely gorgeous… I think even you'd find her pretty x

Santana knows for fact that Carmen thinks Dani is pretty, she'd said it in the past, she'd also said it about Adriana Mitchell, Santana remembers it well, Carmen had been a junior and Santana had only been a freshman.

Carmen was slumped on one of the chairs to the breakfast bar Santana could hear her sucking on her teeth, and smacking her lips together, "I'm so thirsty." She complained in a whiny voice, her words were coming out slurred; Santana gave her elder sister an unamused look.

It was typical for Carmen to come home drunk from one of the many house parties that she was often invited to. "That's because you're wasted, and once again, I'm the one who has to look after you 'cos mom and dad aren't here." Santana said rolling her eyes.

"I'm not wasted, and you just wait until it's your turn to get invited to parties, you'll be like this."

"Except I won't have anyone to look after me." Santana sighed, "Did you have a good time at least?" She asked, Carmen nodded her head, Santana handed her sister a glass of water.

The elder girl took a huge gulp of it before placing it down on the table, "I'll tell you who else had a 'good time', if you know what I mean." She said.

Santana nodded her head, "I think even the water knows what you mean."

"Adriana Mitchell, what a slut that girl is." She scoffed. "She is really pretty though. Both of the Mitchell girl's are pretty. I can see why it's always me and Adriana fighting for the title of Homecoming Queen and Prom Queen." She sighed, "It's just a shame she's such a bitch, because she is really pretty, she's only letting herself down with that one… so is Dani though." She said trailing off slightly Santana shook her head slowly and gave her sister a confused look, she loved it when Carmen got like this; it never failed to amuse her. "Like pretty I mean, I don't if she's a bitch… is she a bitch? Her sister's a bitch… she's a fucking big one… I don't know why Dani isn't popular, she really shouldn't keep to herself so much, she'd be such a strong candidate for Prom Queen and Homecoming Queen in a few years, she'd be your only real sense of competition." She nodded her head thoughtfully. "Don't you think?"

"I guess she's pretty." Santana said, "I know why Dani isn't popular though, she's a bit of an art nerd and she's a bit of an ass sometimes, she's not a bitch though, she's never said a bad word about anyone that I know of… well other than me." Santana shrugged, "But I've had that all my life, I give it back to her."

"Good." Carmen said, she sighed, "So, it's only Adriana that's a bitch then?" Santana nodded her head.

"Yeah… I guess so?"

"Anyway, I'm going to bed."

"Okay, Car, good night."

"Night San."

And with that Carmen had gone to bed, Santana brought it up to her the day after, but she had down and out right refused to believe that she had ever said anything even remotely nice about Adriana Mitchell. At the time, Santana had agreed with Carmen, both of the Mitchell girl's were very pretty, but she wasn't going to admit it back then, not when she and Dani could barely say two nice words to each other, back then Santana would have only felt comfortable saying negative things about either of them. Though most of the negative things she had to say about Adriana were only to appease Carmen, Santana didn't know Adriana well enough to form a proper opinion on her.

Santana was pulled away from the memory of that night by her Facebook telling her she had yet another inbox from her sister.

Carmen Lopez: Oh so she's in your league then? You're not settling? x

Santana Lopez: No I'm not settling, and I think she's above and beyond my league, because not only is she hotter than me, but she's a nicer person than I am, too. So I think she's settling x

Carmen Lopez: Yeah right, Santana you're stunning, so stop thinking like that okay?… anyway I'm gonna go, I've got quite a bit of work to do if I don't do it now I'll end up failing. It's not due in until winter break, but I know what I'm like so… I'll talk to you again tomorrow San, good night, and well done on getting you're date :)… love ya xxx

Santana Lopez: I'll try and stop thinking that way, but it's hard when I know someone like her... Yeah, I should probably go do some work too, I'm too far behind, I'll have to try and find a way to catch up some how, I am sure I'll find someone, Quinn might help me. x

Carmen Lopez: Yeah get a Fabray to help you her sister was real smart… I wonder what happened to her…. hmmm odd… anyway, I'm going good night! xxx

Santana Lopez: Night. Love ya, too. xxx

Santana logged out of her Facebook and sighed, she twisted her mouth in thought, thinking of something else that she could do, she did have work to do, but she didn't exactly feel like doing it at eleven-thirty on a Sunday night.

She rolled her eyes and opened up her Netflix account, clicking on Dexter and starting the third season, she hadn't watched it in a while, she needed to catch up to where the shorter girl was, she was sure that Dani would be nearing the end of the series now.

She had just finished her third episode of Dexter of the night, and was just shutting down her laptop when her phone buzzed quietly.

From Dani
Just thought I'd send a quick good night text to you so I am… good night and sweet dreams! xxxx

To Dani
Sweet dreams to you, too :) xxxx

Santana sighed and settled down into her bed, pulling her covers right up to her chin, and smiling as she thought about how the day had been a drastic, but pleasant turn of events.

The Dantana romance can start from here! :D I really hope you like this chapter.

I had a quicker update for you this time around, like I said, I'd had this chapter written for a while, so here it is for you! :D

Thank you to everyone who reviewed on the last chapter, there were a few of you and not one of you hated me for that little stunt that I pulled and you all made me smile.

And to the guest who said that Santana should just 'kiss the shit' out of Dani and that if Dani has anything to say about it Santana should 'slap her and kiss her again.' You made me laugh! :)

As always a big thank you to anyone who has read and reviewed this story and a big thank you to those of you who have added this story to your favourites and or follows. I really appreciate it! and I am happy to see that you guys are enjoying reading this story just as much as I am enjoying writing it.

P.S: my winter break is almost over now, so updates will slow down again but I will still try and update as often as I can. I'll have the next chapter up ASAP!
