I don't know how many of you are out there still, if anyone, but hey, I told you I would not be dropping this story. I'm just running a little late is all.
Twenty-One
Santana couldn't help but smile as Dani walked towards her, "Good morning pretty girl, you look incredible today." The butterflies had already started to flap around Santana's stomach, threatening to break free at any moment, just from the sight of the shorter girl. She hated how Dani had this effect on her; the last time anyone had ever made her feel anything remotely like this, was Brittany. She wasn't sure if she was fully ready to open herself up to something like that again; she had definitely never seen herself feeling this way about someone so soon. Afterall, it had only been a matter of weeks, and yet, she couldn't keep herself away from the other girl. She guessed that the heart wants what it wants, or at least, the teenage hormones want what the teenage hormones want.
When getting dressed Dani hadn't thought that she looked any better than usual; she was wearing her typical pair of dark, ripped skinny jeans, a low cut white tee-shirt showing off a small amount of her ample cleavage, and a pair of black high-heeled boots that added a small amount onto her usual height.
"Well thank you very much, gorgeous." Dani grinned, she glanced over Santana, realising that the other girl was still wearing her jacket from last night. Santana couldn't help but notice as a small smile spread across her face slowly, "You look pretty incredible yourself," Dani returned the comment, "I really like that jacket. Where'd you get it?"
"Thank you," Santana smiled, "This really hot girl let me borrow it last night when I got pretty cold." She shrugged, "I don't think I'll be giving it back anytime soon, it's really comfy, and it smells amazing."
"A hot girl at McKinley… there's not many of those around, can I get her number?" Dani replied, her voice taking on a mock tone of wonderment.
Santana rolled her eyes before hooking her fingers into the belt loops of Dani's jeans and pulling her close to connect their lips in a kiss, wasting no time in pushing her tongue into Dani's mouth at the first chance she got.
Santana always loved the way that Dani's lips felt against her own, they were always so soft and full, and she loved the way that Dani's mouth always tasted of the fresh mint toothpaste and mouthwash at that time in the morning. But that day, she loved those things even more. That day, everything just seemed ten times better than it had yesterday.
Dani moaned quietly, smiling into their kiss before bringing one of her hands to Santana's chest and pushing the taller girl back slightly to separate them. She flashed Santana an apologetic smile before dipping her head and looking at her feet.
"Are you alright?" Santana asked with a soft smile; she brought her hand to Dani's chin, lifting her head up slightly so that they were looking into each other's eyes. "What's wrong?" she sighed; she used her thumb to remove the small amount of Dani's smudged, red lipstick.
"Nothing," Dani admitted, "Everything is fine. I promise you… are you okay?"
Santana nodded her head, "Yeah I'm great… see my totally gorgeous girlfriend let me tell my parents about us last night," she smiled, "Y'know even though she is scared about everyone finding out that she's a raging lesbian," she teased. "My parents totally love her, but then again I knew that they would; she is pretty amazing… I really have no reason to be unhappy right now."
"You're really cute," Dani whispered before leaning up and pecking Santana's lips.
"So are you," Santana smiled, "Anyway," she sighed, "What are you doing tonight?" Santana asked as she moved away from Dani to get into the driver's side of the car.
Dani shrugged her shoulders and climbed into the passenger seat. "Not much, just more essay writing for AP English… I guess you could come over and keep me company though if you want?" Dani offered.
"Well… as much as I love spending time with you and watching your concentration face, and I do, I really do… I don't wanna sit with you while you write an essay. Sorry babe, but it does sound painfully boring." Santana smirked at Dani before glancing behind her to back the car out of the driveway.
"That's because you're a bitch," Dani joked, "Why are you asking me what I'm up to anyway?"
"I wanna spend time with you. That's what girlfriends are supposed to," Santana sighed and risked looking away from the road to look at Dani's face.
"Yeah I know and I wanna spend time with you, obviously. It's just that you never ask what I'm doing, you just assume I have nothing better to do than spend time with you."
"That's because you don't have anything better to do," Santana deadpanned. "Anyway, I was just thinking maybe we could go somewhere, y'know like a real date… but hey, if you're busy writing your essay then w-"
"Yeah… I mean, sure, we can go somewhere… what did you have in mind?" she smiled.
"Dinner, a movie and then I was thinking we could hang out at my place."
"We did that last night."
"I know. But it wasn't just us last night, and you had some other guy flirting with you and fawning all over you, if you recall."
"And I told you he didn't mean anything by it, if you recall."
"Are we going out tonight or not?" Santana asked with a small shrug.
"Fine. We'll go out."
"Well you could at least sound happy."
"I am happy… where are we going?"
"I don't know… Akron maybe?"
Dani nodded her head slowly, "Yeah… okay," the air was silent for all of thirty seconds before Dani looked over at Santana and smiled, "That jacket really does look good on you, by the way."
oOoOo
Santana had always loved Spanish class for multiple different reasons; A) she loved the language and had always loved her culture, B) she thought Mr. Martinez was a great teacher- it did help that he was fluent and C) she was fluent in it, but now she had a new reason to add to that list - Dani.
Sure, she and Dani had been in the same Spanish class as each other before, but back then, she hadn't felt like this about the shorter girl. She'd thought she was gorgeous, but she hadn't liked her, not even as a friend, and she most definitely hadn't had any feelings for her like she did now.
But, she just hated that these days, Dani seemed to be quite the distraction.
"You're staring at me," Dani whispered; Santana nodded her head slowly, "Can I ask why?" she asked, keeping her voice low.
"Well...you're sort of ridiculously pretty," Santana whispered, only just loud enough for Dani to hear her. She saw a small blush creep up Dani's face and couldn't help but find her even more adorable than before. "I mean it, Dan...you're so beautiful."
"Thanks," Dani whispered, making sure she kept her voice at the same volume as Santana's. The last thing she needed was them being overheard in the middle of a classroom, "So are you."
"Thank you," Santana glanced up at Mr. Martinez, feeling thankful he wasn't watching them; she smirked slightly and leaned just a little bit closer to Dani. "God, I can't wait to go home with you tonight."
"Yeah?" Dani asked smiling, turning her head slightly to face Santana, the dark haired girl nodded.
"I need some us time," Santana smirked, sending Dani a quick wink.
Dani felt her breathing hitch and knew it had been heard by Santana, "Don't worry. You'll get some."
The taller girl smirked, "I'd better." Santana gave Dani a playful glare.
Dani nodded her head slowly, "Y-you will… promise. Just don-"
"Dani, Santana!" Mr. Martinez called out to the back of the room; Dani whipped her head around so fast she was sure she'd given herself whiplash. "Do I have to separate you two today?"
Dani shook her head slowly, while Santana tried to suppress a smile. "N-no… you don't have to do that." Dani sighed, "Santana was just trying to help me understand all this… I don't really get Spanish." she lied.
"Really?" He asked, "Because in your last assignment, you got a ninety-eight percent… the second highest grade in the class, the only person who got higher than you was Santana… so it seems to me like you get it."
"Yeah. San is a really good teacher," Dani replied.
"Clearly. But since you two seem to have something more important to say, maybe you'd like to impart the wisdom on the whole class?"
Dani shook her head again slowly, "No. Not really."
"Well, then maybe you should both get back to work."
Dani dipped her head and continued to write as many notes as she could on what Mr. Martinez was saying. "God you're so sexy when you panic," Santana said sarcastically, Dani sent her a warning glare.
"Shut up." she muttered before looking down and continuing her work.
oOoOo
"Mami, we're home!" Santana called as she and Dani walked into the house, "Mami?" Santana called again, expecting to get some sort of a response from the older woman. When no one replied a small smirk crossed her face. "I'm guessing that we're alone."
"Yep," Dani smiled, "So… what do you wanna do with that then?" Dani asked, quirking her eyebrow slightly.
Santana's lips were on Dani's within seconds, she wasted no time in guiding Dani into the living room. She trailed her kisses down Dani's jaw, before pushing her onto the couch; her own body covering Dani's a second later.
She connected their lips again in a rough, heated kiss, not hesitating in slipping her tongue into Dani's mouth, smiling when Dani sucked in a harsh breath through her nose.
Dani's hands quickly became tangled in Santana's hair when the taller girl kissed her way from Dani's jaw down to her pulse point. She bit it harsher than Dani was expecting, making the shorter girl gasp.
Santana quickly soothed it with her tongue, before she started to alternate between harsh sucks and rough kisses. Both of them knew there'd be a mark there. But neither of them could find it in themselves to care.
"What's gotten into you today?" Dani chuckled, she felt her breathing hitch when Santana nipped her skin a little rougher than she usually would.
"Nothing. You just look so fucking great," Santana admitted before crashing their lips together and pushing her tongue into Dani's mouth instantly.
They were far too wrapped up in each other to even hear the other woman enter the room; they didn't hear anything until-
"Dani, there's a Santana on your face." Santana pulled away from the shorter girl and sighed in exasperation, she looked up at her mom and gave her an unamused look. "Oh thank God, it's gone," she teased. Maribel grinned at them sweetly before walking into the kitchen.
Santana rolled her eyes and scoffed, "Women," she joked; Dani chuckled before pecking Santana's lips.
"I'm not gonna lie to you right now, babe, but I think that she's really funny," she shrugged. Santana couldn't help but smile slightly.
"You would."
"Oh come on, she is funny."
"You wouldn't find it funny if that was your mom," Santana huffed pushing herself up from the couch and taking Dani's hand in her own.
"No… I would… if my mom knew about us and said something like that I think I'd still laugh."
"Whatever, come on let's go watch a movie."
"I think that maybe we should go talk to her a little?" Dani admitted.
The dark haired girl gave her a questioning look, "Wha- why?"
"Well think about it… if we suddenly take off up stairs now, she's gonna know what we're doing… or she'll think she knows what we're doing." Dani shrugged; Santana sighed and rolled her eyes again. "Come on baby, let's just go be sociable."
Dani and Santana walked into the kitchen hand in hand, "Hello girls, it's nice of you to join me." Maribel said, smirking slightly. "How are you feeling today?" Maribel asked as she smiled at the shorter girl.
"I'm fine, thanks… how are you?" Dani replied smiling brightly at the older woman. Maribel nodded her head.
"I'm good. Thank you, Danielle."
"Good," Dani replied, shifting to lean against the counter as she tried to think of another topic of small talk, "How was your day at work?"
"Oh, business as usual," Maribel replied, "Though I appreciate you asking, I don't think Santana ever has. This might be the first she's ever heard of me having a job."
"Of course I know you have a job," Santana said with an exaggerated eye roll, "How else could we pay for all the mani/pedis we get. I know Papi would never pay for that."
Maribel chuckled at her daughter's comment as she continued gathering ingredients to prepare dinner. There was a lull in the conversation as Dani struggled to think of new topics.
"You ready to go watch those movies now?"
Dani nodded her head before being dragged up the stairs by Santana.
"Leave the door open!" Maribel called, "Your papi will be home any minute… I don't want you to give him an aneurism."
"We will."
oOoOo
"Worst. Movie. Ever." Santana groaned with a slight chuckle, "Dani you really do have a strange talent for this stuff, I mean, first of all there was Just One of The Guys and now there's this… whatever this shit is."
"I told you, it's called Rumplestiltskin, it's the story of him but with a horror twist on the fairy tale, do you even listen to me when I talk?" She chuckled.
"I do listen, but sometimes I get distracted."
"By?"
"Stuff." Santana sighed, you mainly, like your lips and your voice and your eyes, your smile. God your smile! "But seriously, Dani, what the fuck is this?" Santana laughed.
"Oh come on, you love it. Admit it, this is the best, worst movie you have ever watched with me."
"I'll admit that it's the best of the worst, but I won't admit that I love it… seriously, you're way better at this game than me." Santana pouted slightly, "I might have to stop playing with you." She crossed her arms and turned her head away from Dani, her small pout turning into an overly exaggerated comical one.
Dani laughed and shook her head, "Awwh, baby girl, don't worry about it." she mocked, grabbing hold of Santana's chin and gently guiding her head so the taller girl was facing her. She kissed the pout off of Santana's lips. "You make up for it by being good at other stuff."
"Like?" Santana asked, smirking slightly. She never grew tired of hearing the other girl complimenting her.
"A hell of a lot of stuff, San." Dani smiled, "I'm not gonna sit here and list them all, not when you're fishing for compliments, but just trust me. You're awesome."
"Thank you… you're pretty awesome too."
She leaned over and connected her lips to Dani's; her hand came to rest on Dani's thigh as Dani moved her hand to the back of Santana's neck. Their lips soon found a steady rhythm.
Just as Santana was about to push her tongue into Dani's mouth they heard a knock on Santana's door, pulling them apart.
"I hate to interrupt you for the second time today," Maribel said sarcastically, "But dinner is on the table."
"Thank you, Mami," Santana sighed.
"Thanks, Miss Lopez," Dani smiled.
"Please, call me Maribel," the older woman smiled before walking away from the two girls.
oOoOo
Wednesday night was spent at Dani's house. Santana had gone over there to help Dani pick her song for that week's glee assignment and of course to try and help her find a costume to wear for the Halloween party she was supposed to be hosting.
"The only problem with costume parties is that I never have any idea what I should go as," she admitted, "Like, I still have no idea what to be and the party is next Friday." She sighed, "I want something really good, like I know it won't be now… it's gonna be one of those last minute things, but I need… something."
"Well, I have some ideas for you," Santana said with a small shrug, she paced the floor of Dani's room, trying to block out the sound of Dani's music, the shorter girl had just been listening to Strawberry Switchblade for the past hour and it had started to drive Santana a little bit insane.
"Can I hear them, please?" Dani asked.
Santana walked over to Dani's bed and sat down on the foot of the bed so she could face the other girl, "Okay… so these are like, things that come to the top of my head, when I imagine you in costume."
"…Okay," Dani said, drawing out the word, "Now I'm not actually sure I wanna hear your ideas for me," she said.
"No. They're really great ideas trust me, I am just letting you know that they're completely off the top of my head."
"Okay then, I trust you… I guess."
"Well you should, anyway, my ideas are," she smiled at Dani, leaving a pause there for effect, "A slutty nurse, a slutty firewoman, a slutty cop." Santana reeled off the list smiling. Dani grabbed one of her pillows and threw it at Santana's face, "Ow!"
"Do any of your ideas for costumes not start with the word slutty?" Dani asked through a small chuckle, Santana nodded her head still smiling slightly.
"Yes. One." she admitted, "and it is without a shadow of a doubt my favourite idea that I have for you." she smiled, Dani gave her a questioning look, silently asking her to continue, "A Catholic school girl."
"Stop it!" Dani said, she gave Santana a harsh shove, making her fall off of the bed; Santana grabbed Dani, hoping to be able to stable herself, which only resulted in Santana pulling Dani on top of her.
"See, this position would be way better if you were dressed like a Catholic School Girl."
"You're hopeless," She said laughing. She leaned forwards and placed a chaste kiss on Santana's lips.
oOoOo
"So, you still have absolutely no idea what you're going as?" Quinn asked, quirking her eyebrow at Dani as they walked into the mall. The blonde shook her head. "I thought that you said you were going as some woman from a band, Rose something?"
Dani opened her mouth to say something before being cut off by Santana, "Rose McDowall?" she snapped.
"That's the one!" Quinn nodded and smiled, Santana tensed her jaw slightly. "And you seem really pissed about that… San, what's wrong? You really don't look impressed."
Dani rolled her eyes, knowing all too well about Santana's jealous streak, "Santana's not impressed with anything," she joked.
"You're not funny," she all but spat, "It's not that I'm not impressed, Dani can go as who she wants, but she always talks about this woman and you've shown me pictures of her and honestly, I just don't see the big deal with her," Santana huffed.
Dani sighed, "I was only thinking about it… I'm not overly sure… I mean, I'd love to go as her, she's one of my favourite musicians and she looked awesome, she had such a great style, but I just feel like it'd be a wasted effort, y'know?" she continued, "I don't even know if any of you guys would know who I was supposed to be."
"Yeah well, that's because no one even knows who she is, babe." Santana said, she widened her eyes slightly at the slip of her tongue; Dani tilted her head and smirked slightly.
"Well, that's a new one… honey?" she joked, quirking her eyebrow at the taller girl, "I had no idea we were at that stage in our relationship," she joked, quickly shrugging off what the taller girl had said, "Look, I just… I don't know okay, I have some other ideas, I guess… but she was a front-runner. I just don't wanna waste time and money," she admitted.
"That makes sense." Quinn nodded, "But I am sure, if you have a real hard time, Santana would be more than happy to help you out, right babe?" Quinn teased giving the dark haired girl a knowing look.
Santana nodded her head sheepishly, "Yeah. Sure."
oOoOo
Santana and Dani were making their way into Dani's kitchen from their evening at the mall with Quinn. Ever since saying goodbye to the other girl in the parking lot things had been eerily quiet between them both.
Santana couldn't help but think that she had some groveling to do, as soon as she and Dani were stood by the shorter girl's kitchen island Santana spoke. "Look before we do anything else, I just want to apologise for what I said around Quinn. I really didn't mean to, it honestly just came out. Please don't be mad at me fo-" Dani cut Santana off with a chaste kiss.
"I'm not mad."
"You're not mad?" Santana asked, furrowing her eyebrows at the blonde. It's a trap. Of course she's mad at you. You nearly outed her! You complete ass.
"Nope," Dani shook her head. "So you called me babe in front of Quinn… that doesn't mean anything. I just wrote it off."
Santana nodded her head slowly, "Well yeah, I know. But I am still really sor-" once again Dani stopped Santana with a kiss. "Y'know, if you're gonna keep doing that every time I talk to you, I'm just never gonna shut up." Santana smiled.
"Well, you really should," Dani teased, "You don't have to apologise to me. You did nothing wrong," she shrugged, "and this time I'm not gonna overreact." she sighed. "Now had you kissed the shit out of me, then yeah I'd have been pissed. But you didn't… you used a term of endearment, which a lot of people call their friends anyway… so you're okay… you got away with this one."
Santana let out a breath of relief, "I was just expecting a screaming match and I had to get my apology out there."
Dani tilted her head to the side, and bit her lip, Santana remembers when not too long ago, that expression used to irk her, but now, she couldn't help but find it ridiculously adorable.
"A screaming match?" she asked, "Am I that bad?" she quirked her eyebrow and gave Santana a sad look.
Santana shook her head quickly, "No," she replied, "You're not that bad… you're not bad at all… I just… didn't know if I'd hurt you."
"You didn't."
"So we're okay?"
"Yes." Dani chuckled, "I promise you. We are fine and dandy." She tapped Santana on the tip of her nose with her finger and smiled up at the taller girl.
"Good."
"I think this whole thing has shaken you up more than it has me."
"Well yeah… I thought that I'd hurt you or made you mad… that sort of scared me, D… I don't wanna make you mad or upset you… I wanna make you happy." she shrugged.
Dani nodded her head. "Baby, you have been making me happy."
"I have?"
"Very happy," she replied, "Now, please stop panicking… go sit down while I make us something to eat." she smiled; Santana nodded her head once and followed Dani's instructions. "Is there anything specific that you want?"
Santana nodded her head, "You."
Dani smiled and leaned forwards onto the kitchen island, she took one of Santana's hands in her own, lacing their fingers together, "You've got me."
Santana shook her head, and smirked, "That's not exactly what I meant."
Dani's mouth dropped open slightly, "Okay…" she chuckled, "So I guess, I'm the romantic one and you're the horny one?" She joked.
"Sounds about right for me," Santana shrugged with a small smile.
"I don't mind… I like that about you."
oOoOo
The week seemed to speed by fast, especially for Dani, while everyone else in the glee club already had their costumes planned out for Halloween she had nothing, all Dani had done was plan how she was going to organise the den to make sure that there was room for everyone, as well as trying to figure out where people were going to be sleeping. Her costume had been the last thing on her mind, but with the party being just around the corner, she was starting to feel the pressure of finding a good costume.
So far she had learned that Puck was going as Sid Vicious- and it had seriously gotten to the point where she was close to accepting his offer of being his Nancy Spungen just so she had someone to be, Marley was going as Wonder Woman, while Ryder had planned to go as Deadpool- which Dani thought was sure to make an interesting costume.
Mike was going as Frankenstein, Tina had bought a cat costume; Jesse and Rachel were going as Danny and Sandy from Grease. Which had made Dani make the private joke to Santana that the pair of them should go in coordinating costumes, preferably Stephanie and Michael from Grease Two (with Dani as Stephanie and Santana being Michael). It was no surprise to the blonde that Santana had shot down that idea and had even flipped Dani off for making the joke.
Lauren had told her she was going as a vampire and Sam was going to be dressing like James Dean, which meant that they'd all have to sit through countless impressions all night.
Mercedes was going as a witch and Artie had picked a simple zombie costume. Quinn had told Dani- and Dani alone- that she was going to be dressed like Deanarys Targaryen from Game of Thrones, which Dani was sure Santana was going to love.
She still didn't know whom or what Santana was dressing as all she knew was that she couldn't wait to see her girl dressed up.
She had asked her girlfriend countless times to help her think of something to dress as for the party, but all of Santana's ideas either started with the word 'slutty' or included Dani wearing a Catholic School Girl's outfit, it was safe to say that Dani had shot down every single one of Santana's ideas.
It wasn't until Wednesday October twenty-ninth that Dani even decided on her costume, which only gave her two days to get everything ready for the party.
She'd made jokes about what she was going as, just to keep people from asking her all the time, the more she made jokes and told each person something different the more people seemed to just leave her alone about it.
"Are we all ready for tonight?" Puck asked excitedly as he sat down at the lunch table, sliding in next to Dani and sitting just this side of too close. The blonde shook her head while everyone else chorused a loud 'yes'. He looked at Dani and tilted his head slightly, "What's wrong D, why aren't you excited?"
"I'm not ready yet," she admitted.
"What?" He asked.
"I almost am, I just need to get some last minute costume stuff, like seriously, it's just one last little thing, but it's a vital thing… well to me it is anyway… anyone else would leave this out, but, nope."
"What do you need?" Santana asked.
"Just some hair stuff." she shrugged.
"Hair stuff as in?"
"Dye." she replied.
"You're dying your hair, again?" Santana hissed.
"Yes. Problem?"
Santana shook her head slowly, "No."
"What colour?" Puck asked.
"That's a secret." Dani explained, "But mainly because I really don't know myself yet." she admitted, "I'll just buy any old dye when I get there and hope it looks nice."
"Don't you think that's a bit risky?" Santana asked oh God what if she gets colour and looks terrible, then I've gotta lie to her… I don't think I can do that… she knows me all too well. She'd know. She'd know straight away and then she'd be sad, and I'd be in trouble and I'd feel guilty.
Dani shook her head slowly, "Not really… I think I'm lucky and just have one of those faces that pretty much means I can pull off anything." She shrugged, "Seriously, any hair style or colour I've had has looked good on me."
"There's always a chance it won't this time though; first time for everything and all that." Blaine shrugged.
"Can you not?" Dani smiled.
"Well, whatever colour you get I am sure you'll look smoking hot," Puck said before looking at Santana and smirking slightly.
"Well… okay then." Dani replied, shaking her head slightly. "Quinn do you wanna come with me?" She asked.
"Er yeah sure."
"Can I come?" Santana asked.
"No." Dani replied, shaking her head. "You're not allowed to see me before the party."
oOoOo
"Honestly, I thought that you'd have invited Santana to come with us, too… I thought you'd care more about her opinion than mine," Quinn shrugged.
Dani smiled, "I care about her opinion, obviously, it's just y'know I care about a lot of people's opinions… but like I said she's not allowed to see me until the party."
"So secretive."
Dani shrugged, "It's the way I am… she'd just try and stop me if I brought her… so, she's not allowed… that and she won't tell me what she's dressing as, so I am not telling her… it's more fun that way."
"You're very close to Santana, aren't you?"
Dani nodded her head, "Yeah… I guess so… that kind of happens when you see each other every day."
"You've been like that since Britt left, right?" she asked; Dani nodded her head slowly, "Okay, well Dani, don't take this the wrong way but, is there anything going on between you and San, y'know beside friendship?"
Dani shook her head, "No," she lied, instantly feeling guilty about lying. She hadn't felt like this for a long time, usually her lies never bothered her. But this time, she felt terrible about lying about Santana, "We're just friends."
"Is that all you want to be?" Wait, does Quinn know I'm gay? Or is she just asking? "Y'know are you interested in Santana like she's interested in you?"
Fuck yeah I'm interested. "Santana's interested in me?" Dani asked, feigning shock. She just wanted to avoid the question.
Quinn rolled her eyes and nodded her head, "Yeah," she replied in a tone that told Dani it was obvious. "How do you not see it?"
Dani shrugged "I don't know… guess I just didn't see myself as being Santana's type y'know… but the fact that she's interested is a pretty big compliment."
"A compliment?" Quinn asked. "Jesus, Dani, I could slap you," Quinn joked; she shook her head slowly, there was a beat of silence before the taller girl spoke again. "Are you gonna answer my question or not?"
"What?"
Quinn rolled her eyes and sighed in exasperation, "Are you interested in Santana like she's interested in you?"
"Err…" Dani paused slightly before turning her mouth down in thought, "Santana is great… and y'know she's like, gorgeous." She shrugged, "But we're seriously just friends," she lied.
"But you do find her pretty?"
"Yeah… but that's because she is… you don't have to be interested to know that she's pretty… I'm sure you know she's a pretty girl."
"I do… but I'm not like you are with her… I just wanted to know if you liked her, if you did I was just gonna suggest asking her out, but if you're not interested, you're not interested." She shrugged, but there was something off about Quinn's tone that Dani couldn't quite place.
"Well… what's that about?" she asked.
"What's what about?"
"That tone of voice?"
"I don't know what you mean, Dan," Quinn shrugged.
"The tone of your voice… you sound sort of, I don't know… pissed at me."
"I'm not mad at you. I just think that you lead her on a little bit," Quinn admitted with a shrug.
Dani wasn't sure how to respond; refuting Quinn's assessment of the situation could lead to an argument, and she knew better than to get into a debate with someone as clever and quick as Quinn. "I'm not trying to," she finally replied, knowing that it was an honest answer.
"Look, I get it. It's fun to flirt and get attention from someone, but at a certain point, if you don't either take it further or make it clear nothing's going to happen, it just becomes cruel."
Dani sighed and gave Quinn a small nod, "I'll try and pay more attention to that, I guess. Believe me, the last thing I want to do is hurt Santana."
oOoOo

From Dani
Quinn mentioned how everyone in glee knows that you're interested in me so she asked if I felt them same, when I told her that we're just friends she got all bitchy with me, when I asked her why she said it's because she thinks I lead you on and thinks that it's unfair to you xxxxx

A/N: So with Demi's come back fully in swing, and with rewatching Glee with my girlfriend, I was inspired to write for Dantana again, I was also very inspired to go back to this story that some how was left hanging for five years?! God knows how. But I am still very much a fan of this ship, even if there isn't much content for it now. So, here is chapter 21 of this story, that is now five years late.
Thank you to everyone who read this story five years ago, and to people are who still reading it now, I know some of you are, so thank you. This chapter only came to be what it is, thanks to my amazing girlfriend for giving me the support and motivation to write and upload this chapter, and also a huge thanks to her for editing it for me and for adding some little bits of dialogue that I needed to be in the chapter, but couldn't put on paper.
My girlfriend, is also a Dantana shipper and has some stories published on here, she has three altogether, some of you may have read them but if not then you should totally go and read them. Her user name is Shananigans402 and her stories are: Say you won't let go. I'm On Fire And I know That It Burns and What's A Lebanese To Do?
I also have another Dantana story called Kaleidoscope, it'd be awesome if you could check that out, too.
Thanks once again to all past readers and reviewers of this fic, and to those of you who favourited and followed it the first time around, it meant and still means a lot to me.
