Summary: This is a Story about three groups of people. A Jedi and her clones, A group of young Wizards and Witches, and 4 adults from central City. The Jedi arrived on the planet of blue and green with her clones shortly after Order 66. She meets the witch and her friends who were running from a terrible horror. The dead had risen and were attacking the living, from there they meet the four survivors from Central city. This team of misfits struggle to survive while the young padawan rushes to fix her ship. When the time is right they flea the dying world and into the Era of the empire where they must still fight to survive. As they meet new friends and enemies along the way. Can they make it or will they fail at the hand of the empire? The first book in the embers series
Chapter Summary: The dead have overtaken Central City and Leonard Snart, Mick Rory, and Lisa Snart must fight their way out after going to STAR Labs to get Lisa's boyfriend. They witness many losses along the way and meet new friends willing to help them in the end.
The End of Central city
When the world ended it was a beautiful day. It was mid-December, Leonard Snart's Little Sister Lisa's favorite time of year. Leonard loved this time of year too, but for very different reasons. Lisa loved the holiday, the Christmas cheer, and how happy everyone was about the Holidays. She loved the holidays. Leonard loved the cold. He always had, ever since he was a child. The cold Ice and snow were his favorite part of Winter. Today there was a frosty chill in the air and a blanket of snow covering the ground of Central City. Mick hated winter, but that was understandable he was a Pyro. Today was a beautiful Winter day. Today was the day the world ended. It wasn't by fire the world ended as mick wanted it. Mick never got to see the world burn. The world ended because the dead rose from the ground. The dead no longer stayed dead
"Watch out Snart!" Mick said harshly pulling Leonard out of the way of a zombie, a Zed as the rogues were calling them.
"Don't go getting caught up in your head, Lenny" his sister Lisa said as she turned Zed's head too gold with her gold gun. "You do that and your dead"
"Or worse," Mick says
"Right," Leonard says, he, Lisa, and Mick were making their way too STAR labs. They were in sight of it now, almost too a place they could take a rest. Earlier this morning it hadn't been just the three of them and they hadn't been fighting to get to STAR Labs; they and the rest of the rogues had been fighting to get out of the city but then Lisa remembered Cisco. She didn't want to leave him behind. Leonard might not like the kid, mainly because he was dating Lisa, but he wasn't going to leave him for dead, so he and the rogues changed course to STAR Labs and anyone in it. Only three of them were going to make it to the Lab, the morning had started with eight of them. Leonard Snart, Lisa Snart, Mick Rory, Shawna Baez, Mark Mardon, Hartley Rathaway, James Jesse, Roscoe, and Axel Walker, but now only three of them would make it, Lisa, Mick, and himself. Shawna took a bite too the shoulder and within 20 minutes she was dead and several minutes after that she was back up as an Undead. It was with her they discovered how fast you could become a Zed. It was with Mark they found out that if a Metahuman goes Zed they keep their powers. Why Shawna- the undead Shawna wasn't teleporting Leonard didn't know but he was glad she- it wasn't. Shawna was the one to bite Mark, Mark bit Roscoe and Shawna bit Bivolo. It was with Roscoe they figured out how hard it was to kill the Zeds. Hartley was the one too figure out how to kill them, with a bullet to the head. That made Leonard thankful he required all the rouges too carry pistol sidearms. Hartley's findings cost him a bite. Hartley begged Leonard too shoot him in the head and he did, he then ended Roscoe, Shawna, and Mark's undead bodies, but not before Axel took a bite. Axel then decided to sever his own arm believing losing the Limb would stop the infection. Leonard was pretty sure he was right but they never got too put that theory to the test. There were too many Zeds closing in on them. James and Axel sacrificed themselves too buy Lisa, Mick, and Leonard time too get too STAR Labs. The Zeds swarmed the two tricksters and tore into them
"Come on, just a little further," Lisa said
"When we get to the door, I'll need to hotwire the lock," Len says
"No need, Cisco gave me a keycard," Lisa says
"I've never been more thankful for you dating the Geek than right now," Mick said gruffly as he shot a Zed down with the sidearm. Mick used the handgun because the Heat-gun did nothing but burn their flesh, The cold-gun didn't work either. Lisa's gold-gun was the only one that worked.
"Let's hope Ramon and his buddies are not Zed's yet," Leonard says as they reach the door. Lisa swipes the keycard and they slipped through the door slamming it shut behind them before the Zeds could get in.
"Hopefully we'll be safe here while we search for pretty boy," Mick says
"Keep your gun in hand, just in case," Leonard said
"I hope you're right, I would really like to rest," Lisa said, Leonard got a good look at both his best friend and his sister. Mick looked no worse for wear than he did after a tough heist, but Leonard didn't miss the way his partner's hand shook something he hadn't seen since Juvie when Mick told him about his parents and little sister Emaralda. Lisa looked awful, she was covered in dirt and her make-up was smeared. Luckily she had put her hair up in a tight bun this morning so her hair was fine, she had worn all leather so her clothes weren't torn. Mick's Fireman Jacket was torn, it was so bad that it would most likely have to be discarded. Leonard took a moment to look himself over. He was covered in dirt and splattered blood. His jeans had been ripped open by a Zed so his left leg was exposed luckily he was unharmed. Aside from bloodstains that would never come out his Parka was undamaged.
"Me to trainwreck, Now let's find Ramon," Leonard said "I'll lead" Leonard led his sister and partner down the hall with his handgun drawn. As they neared the lab they heard sobbing.
"I….I can't Barry, I can't" It was Cisco Ramon who was crying, Leonard gestured for Lisa and Mick to stay out of sight as he hid in the doorway to see what was going on. Barry Allen was sitting on a Medical Bed with Cisco Ramon, Caitlin Snow, and Detective West around him. There was a Body laying on the ground, a Body Leonard recognized as Iris West-Allen
"You have to Cisco, find a Gun" Barry says Leonard realized Barry had been bitten. The kid's voice stayed strong as he spoke, he didn't look afraid
"Bear" Detective West said Leonard chose that moment to walkout
"If he was Bitten you have to kill him," Leonard said all occupants of the room turned too him
"Snart" Joe aimed his gun at Leonard
"Easy Detective, I come in peace," Leonard said
"Cisco I thought you said the building was secured," Detective said
"It is," Cisco says
"Then how did he get in," Detective West said
"Lisa used her keycard," Leonard said, "Look the dead are out there walking around we-"
"I'm going to stop you right there, have you or Lisa or Rory been bitten?" Caitlin said
"Lisa and I haven't, Mick were you?" Leonard said looking back
"No, Fireman jacket protected me," Mick said
"Good," Caitlin says
"As I was saying before you interrupted me, we need to work together to survive," Leonard said
"And to do that you need to kill me," Barry said
"How long ago were you…" Leonard said
"5 minutes maybe," Barry said
"Axel thought if you sever the bitten Limb you could survive," Mick says
"Even if that were so it's too late now," Caitlin says
"Agreed," Leonard says "But we don't have to shoot the kid just yet"
"We are not shooting Barry" Detective West says
"You don't have a choice Joe," Barry says "Unless you want me to become one of them like Iris did"
"Snart where are the rest of the rouges," Cisco asked
"Dead" Leonard Said
"Like Zombie dead, or Dead, Dead" Cisco whimpers
"Dead, Dead" Leonard said "On second thought Axel and James might be Zeds"
"The others were Zeds, got bitten, changed, we killed them again," Mick says
"Hartley never became one, he asked us too put him down before he did," Lisa says
"Iris got bit yesterday. She changed this morning and bit Barry before I had too… Shoot her in the head" Detective West knelt down too where the body of Iris was laid "Oh my sweet baby girl"
"Since she's no longer a Zed, she can be given a proper burial," Lisa says gently
"We can't really do that with the Zeds around," Detective West says
"Then you keep her and my body and do it when you're somewhere safe," Barry says
"We could use the gurney to transport you," Leonard says
"What about the rouges, don't they deserve a burial," Caitlin says
"Yeah, We'll have to go back the way we came, I doubt Axel and James are still there but we can always grab something of theirs from the safe house too burry," Lisa says
"If they are still there we can grab them," Leonard says
"Good well Aghhh" Barry clutched his head in pain. Leonard recognize the signs, the scarlet speedster was changing
"We need to shoot him, Now!" Leonard says
"This isn't right, it should take up to 12 hours," Caitlin says
"Oh Really? Shawna and my rouges were Zed in 20" Leonard Snaps
"Oh my god, what if Meta genes speed up the Virus," Cisco says
"If it does, I need to shoot the Kid now," Leonard says
"No Snart, I'll do it, he's my boy," Detective West says
"No detective, you already had too put one child down, you shouldn't have too put down another" Leonard says while walking over to Barry. He pulled the gun from his coat pocket "Ready Scarlet" Leonard put the barrel of the gun to the kid's temple, cocking it.
"Do it" Barry said, Leonard closed his eyes and pulled the trigger. He felt tears swell in his eyes when the gun went off and the kid's body dropped to the ground with a soft thud. Leonard dropped too his knees next to Barry's body
"I'm so sorry it came to this Scarlet," Leonard said, the kid was in his flash outfit, only the scowl was pulled down. Leonard used his thumb and pinky finger too close the kid's open unseeing eyes. The Kid; Barry had watched Leonard pull the trigger on the gun that had killed him, Barry had looked into the eyes of the man who was going to kill him and hadn't been scared. Barry's eyes had only shown courage. This broke Leonard's heart and for the first time in over thirty year's Leonard Snart Cried. "He didn't deserve to die like that, he didn't deserve this fate" He sobbed
"Oh Lenny," Lisa said pulling her Brother into her arms. He sobbed into his sister's chest. Leonards's heart was breaking; was broken. The kid, Barry Allen, Scarlet Speedster, The Flash, his Scarlet was dead. Dead by his hand.
"Deep Breaths Snart, deep breaths," Joe said
"What Now," Mick said several long minutes later
"We….. we get out of central," Len says
"I'll get a gurney for Barry's body, we can't leave him or Iris here," Caitlin says
"Right. We also should try to pick up any of the rouges we find" Cisco says
"Yeah, but no detours. Luckily they are on the shortest route out of Central" Leonard says
"Once out of the City, I can probably vibe us somewhere safe. Like Scotland or England. It'll probably be a random location" Cisco
"Not Star City," Joe asks
"If Central is overrun, the odds are Star City is too. The further away from Central the better" Lisa says
"Let's hope the rest of the world hasn't been overrun as well" Leonard mutters. Twenty minutes later they had the two bodies loaded up on a gurney and were armed with better guns from the lab.
"Whatever you do, no matter who you see, do not lose focus," Lisa said as they stood at the door ready too open it and leave the safety of the lab
"Right," Cisco said, it was his job to protect Caitlin as she pushed the Gurney. Mick, Leonard, Lisa, and Joe would lead and Clear the way. Leonard would be out in front.
"Let's do this" Leonard Said, he pressed the button that would unseal and open the Lab door. He expected a horde to come at them but he saw none at all. The lack of Zeds was unsettling to the group as they made their way quickly through the dead streets of Central city.
"S…..Snart" a voice to Leonards left said. Leonard turned, pulling his gun on the voice then lowered it. The owner of the voice was Axel. The youngest rouge member. He was sitting against a building and covered in bite marks. He was cradling a dead James Jesse's head. Leonard saw there was a single bullet hole in the middle of Jesse's forehead. Jesse must have been bitten and Axel ended his father's life, but not his own.
"Axel" Leonard says trying and failing to hide the hurt emotion in his voice. His eyes had begun to water again. Axel was like a son to him, he was the baby of the rouges. He couldn't bear to lose him, but he was going to lose him. Axel had been bitten many times
"They got us. We got away but we were both bitten. I had too put one in Dad, I was going to do myself too but I ran out of bullets." Axel says
"Don't worry, non Metals take up to 12 hours to change" Caitlin says, that didn't calm Axel at all
"I don't want to wait," Axel said bravely. His voice quivering "Boss, Rory…. Please"
"Hold on let's not be rash about this" Joe said
"He made his choice Detective," Leonard said, leveling his gun at his adopted son's face. He was shaking worse than ever and hot tears stung his eyes as he tried not too let them fall. He had to be strong to get everyone out of central alive. There was no time for an emotional breakdown.
"Snart, wait, you shouldn't have to kill two people in one day; in less than an hour," Joe says
"Three actually," Leonard said "I had too put one in Hartley"
"You also put Shawna, Mark, Roscoe, and Bivolo down," Lisa says
"They were already dead," Leonard says coldly
"So was Iris when I had to shoot her, the effect on you is the same whether they're dead or alive," Joe says "You've killed six people you cared about today, let one of us do this"
"I hate to point this out but you're wasting time. Just shoot me already and get it over with" Axel said looking up at Leonard with pleading eyes Leonard sighed and closed his eyes
"Let me do this Snart" Joe insisted
"No, I have to do it," Leonard said it didn't feel right too let Joe or anyone else do it
"You'll only get one shot. The Zeds are attracted too sound" Axel said, that explained why the streets were so quiet
"Be ready to load them" Leonard says
"May we meet again" Axel murmurs
"May we meet again, your fight is now over" Leonard said and he fired the gun. Mick and Joe wasted no time heaving Axel and James' bodies on too the Gurney.
"Let's go before we attract some unwelcome guests," Cisco says
"Agreed," Leonard says and he leads them down the road, a few streets down they find a Body.
"Is that.." Cisco trailed off
"Hartley," Leonard says sadly. Hartley's glasses were cracked and his eyes were still open but the bullet hole in the center of his head said that he was indeed dead. Leonard leaned down and took Hartley's glasses off of him. He then closed his eyes, "May we meet Again, Hartley Rathaway, your fight is now over"
"Grab him," Joe said, Mick loaded Hartley's body up.
"We got incoming," Cisco said gesturing at a horde of undead.
"I hoped we'd be lucky enough too not run into any" Leonard says "Get ready, we're fighting our way out of here"
"Right, keep going and don't stop," Joe says as the zeds come upon them. They fight their way through and come upon the place were Mark, Shawna, Roy, and Roscoe had died.
"We made it out of that…. Thank god" Cisco says with relief
"But did we make it out unscratched?" Caitlin asked "I'm fine"
"So am I," Cisco says
"Clear" Mick says
"Same" Lisa says
"They did a number on my pants and shirt but I wasn't bit" Leonard says
"I didn't," Joe said
"Shit" Leonard said
"What do we do," Cisco asks
"We keep pushing forward and when we get out of Central you shoot me so I don't become one of those things. like Iris did" Joe says
"We can't kill you, Detective," Caitlin says
"We have no choice, we must," Leonard says
"Come on guys lets keep going. It's not safe here" Lisa says taking Cisco's arm
"We need to get out of here before the dead come looking for the source of that commotion we made," Leonard says they walk in silence for a few before they hear a distinctive moaning sound.
"I think they've found us," Lisa says
"You think. Get ready" Len says as the first of the Zed round a corner and come stumbling at them
"NO!" Lisa says as she sees the lead Zed "No, no, no, no, no!"
"Fucking bastard, even in death he can't leave us alone" Leonard levels his gun to his zed father's face and fires. He then fights his way to his father's body and takes him to the gurney as he is taking Lewis to the Gurney he sees a Zed approaching Caitlin
"Doc lookout!" Mick's warning came too late as Caitlin screamed out in pain
"Cait no!" Cisco yells several minutes later had all the zeds being killed and them at the edge of Central city
"What do we do now," Cisco asked hands on his knees panting
"You work on vibing a portal to Scotland. Go to those ruins you always wanted to see, hopefully, you'll be safe there, while Leonard shoots me and the detective" Caitlin says
"Me? You want me to do it," Leonard says
"Cisco isn't strong enough to do it, and out of everyone, I trust you the most," Caitlin says reaching out and taking Leonard's hands in her own. Leonard was shaking, his clothes were torn to shreds.
"Okay, I'll do it" Leonard Says
"Make it quick please, Leonard," Caitlin says, without a word Leonard pulls out his gun and shoots Caitlin in the head he then turns too the Detective
"Take care of yourselves, and Cisco," Joe says
"We will, you have my word," Leonard says Joe closed his eyes and then said
"Barry, Iris, Wally I'll see you soon" Leonard pulled the trigger then they loaded Caitlin and Joe onto the gurney and they all went through the portal
"The sensors are going off," Comet said approaching Cody "There are three men and a woman standing near the ship, all of them are beaten up. I think something has happened too them"
"Let's go check it out, and give them assistance if we can," Cody says
"I'm having Boost prep the Morgue for their fallen comrades, I'll meet you at the door," Comet said darting off, Commander Cody of the 212th battalion ran his hands through his hair and then set off towards the door. Comet was arriving at the same time he got there. As they walked out towards the people he saw three boys and one girl. One of the men's clothes was torn so bad the only salvageable thing would be his jacket. They were all bruised and bloodied.
"Hello there," the man with long black hair said, "We're not meaning to trespass!"
"At ease, I'm not looking for a fight with you. My name is commander Cody, this is Comet, we were coming out too see if we could help you with anything or provide some medical attention, you appear to be injured"
"Few cuts and bruises nothing we can't handle, I'm Leonard Snart, this is my sister Lisa, her boyfriend Cisco Ramon, and our Friend Mick Rory," Leonard says
"Please, let us help you, we can keep you safe from whatever attacked you," Comet says
"Most military Personnel want too arrest me, not help me," Leonard says
"Come on Lenny, please I'm exhausted" Lisa begged her brother
"Alright fine, we'll accept your help," Leonard said, then all four of them tensed as they heard moaning from behind them
"Damn I thought It was only in America," Cisco says
"Not good," Leonard says
"What's not good?" Comet says as he approaches a Zed "Hey sir are you alr- ahhhhhhhhh" Comet screams as the zed rips his chest open, Cody knew he couldn't save comet.
"On the ship, now hurry!" Cody grabbed Mick's arm and pushed him towards the ship as the Zed came at him, he was so thankful he wore his Armor, he was able to punch it back with an armored glove he then scooped Lisa up into his arms and bolted towards the Ship with Leonard at his side, when the got on board he slammed the door shut and closed the blast doors. Cisco had gotten on board with the bodies, Rex came walking down the hall "Rex, take these bodies to the morgue. Inform the others that no one is too go outside without a weapon, there are cannibals here, one got Comet. I'm taking these four too the med and healing them"
"Actually they are called Zeds, or the undead," Cisco says
"Sir, yes, sir!" Rex says, Cody leads the four too the Med
"You're not from this planet are you?" Leonard asks
"No Mr. Snart I am not, now if you would kindly sit down so I can have the droid Scan you that would be most helpful," Cody says "After this, I can direct you all to the showers"
"Hello, commander Cody what can I do for you today?" The Medical droid E4 says when Cody turns her on.
"E4 I need a scan of Mr. Snart, Ms. Snart. Mr. Ramon and Mr. Rory please" Cody says
"Right away," E4 says. Several minutes later E4 had all four patients scanned and instructed Cody too put bacta on their wounds. Cody then found himself leading the three boys to the shared showers after dropping Lisa off in Commander Phoenix's private bathroom. He figured the young Jedi would not mind, he also found them all a change of clothes
"Thank you for you're Help Cody," Cisco says
"You're Welcome, Mr. Ramon. When you all get out I can show you too you're room" Cody says
"We appreciate all you've done for us already," Leonard said before they shut the door, he quickly stripped and stepped under the flow of hot water, washing all the blood off of him he sighed deeply "usually I think winter is beautiful, but today was not a beautiful day"
"Amen brother," Cisco said, Mick grunted as he struggled to reach his Back, Leonard reached over to help him
"We've lost so many people, I only hope we can survive," Mick says Today, Leonard thought, was not a beautiful day.
