Summary: This is a Story about three groups of people. A Jedi and her clones, A group of young Wizards and Witches, and 4 adults from central City. The Jedi arrived on the planet of blue and green with her clones shortly after Order 66. She meets the witch and her friends who were running from a terrible horror. The dead had risen and were attacking the living, from there they meet the four survivors from Central city. This team of misfits struggle to survive while the young padawan rushes to fix her ship. When the time is right they flea the dying world and into the Era of the empire where they must still fight to survive. As they meet new friends and enemies along the way. Can they make it or will they fail at the hand of the empire? The first book in the embers series
Chapter Summary: Skylaris Grace never knew she was a princess until the day it all went down, it started as a normal Friday, but turned into a horror film, the dead had started rising at Hogwarts now her and her new friends must make their way to safety which happens when they meet a strange girl in the woods and her talking trashcan.
"Minnie, can I have chocolate milk?" Skylar asks Mcgonagall in the early morning it is the middle of the semester of Skylar's first year and she was still sleeping in Mcgonagall's bedroom with her guardian who has watched over her since she was eight months old, instead of in the Gryffindor common room, she had spent basically her entire life inside the grounds of Hogwarts, those were the borders of her life and she dare not pass them unless going out with Mcgonagall to Hogsmeade and she never strayed far from her when they were out, the farthest she had ever been away from the castle was when she went to get her wand from Ollivanders and she was only gone for about five minutes then returned home, it was the home to her maybe not to the other kids, but it was the only home she had ever known.
"Sure Skylaris, but honey don't you think it is time you try to socialize with the other students and try sleeping in the Gryffindor common room?" Mcgonagall says she is finishing getting dressed and getting Skylar's long hair done, Skylar had hair that when let completely down trailed behind her at least four feet, it had to be pulled up into a tight braided bun
"No I like sleeping in here with you Minnie cause when I am with you and Dad I don't have nightmares or flashbacks," Skylar says
"Okay sweetheart but at least try to make friends during the day and I think maybe next year we try the common room," Mcgonagall says
"Oh come on Mins, you want her out of the room but as soon as she finally does leave you are going to want her right back in, you should be happy she still loves us, most kids would have been out by age nine but she is 11 and still wants to be near us it is so sweet," Albus says coming out of the bathroom buttoning his shirt and combing his beard "Come on Little Moon, let's go get you some chocolate milk before the other students wake up for breakfast"
"Yay, I love you, Daddy," Skylar says and Albus scoops her up in his arms
"I love you to my little shining star," Albus says he takes her down to the great hall and gets a goblet of chocolate milk for her then Mcgonagall walks in they go and take their seats at the teacher table, and Skylar sits at the end of the Gryffindor table as close as she possibly can get to them, after five minutes the rest of the school walks into the great hall and takes their seats at their normal tables, Albus stands up and makes an announcement "Since it is mid-semester and a Saterday I have decided to give you a little school treat you are allowed to sit at whatever tables you want to sit at this morning for breakfast" everyone cheers in celebration and start moving from table to table, one group of students ranging in ages from 11 to 15 gather at the Gryffindor table not far from Skylar who doesn't move and just keeps her head bent over looking down at her special purple amulet, there were 11 people in the group from all different houses
"So what do you guys want to do today?" Alec, a Gryffindor asks the group
"I want to curl up with a good book" Maia, a Ravenclaw says
"Practice for Quidditch I have to be faster if I am ever going to catch that damn snitch" Jace, a Gryffindor says
"I'll come watch" Clary, a Gryffindor says
"I don't care what we do as long as I am with you Alexander" Magnus, a Slytherin says running his hands through Alec, his boyfriend's hair
"I was going to go make cupcakes" Madsie, a Hufflepuff says
"Oh I think I was just going to practice my dueling if I could find a partner" Isabelle, a Gryffindor says
"I'll duel you Izzy" Max a Gryffindor says
"No way Max you are to easy to beat you are just a first-year," Isabelle says
"I was going to go to the library and look for a new book series to read," Simon a Ravenclaw says
"I'll take you on in a duel Isabelle" Luke a Gryffindor says
"You are on Luke" Isabelle says
"Well I was going to go pull pranks but I think I will watch the show, this should be interesting" Raphael a Slytherin says
"Hey, guys do you ever notice how that Skylar kid always seems so lonely and doesn't talk to anyone?" Clary whispers after noticing Skylar had not touched her breakfast and was just staring at her amulet
"Yeah I wonder why she doesn't talk to anyone," Madsie says
"She has never left this castle before she has never really had the chance to socialize with anyone other than the teachers she may just have trouble talking to people or at least initiating the conversation," Magnus says
"Let's go talk to her and see if she wants to join us in our activities today," Alec says they all walk over to her
"Hi, my name is Max, this is my older sister Isabelle, and our older brother Alec, that is Magnus his boyfriend, that is Jace, and his girlfriend Clary, that is Maia and Simon, that is Madsie, Raphael, and that tall fellow is Luke," Max says politely as he holds his hand out to Skylar
"Oh um … hi, I'm Skylar," Skylar says tentatively taking his hand and shaking it
"We were wondering if maybe you would like to hang out with us today," Madsie says
"Oh um sure I guess, only I have never hung out with anyone before," Skylar says
"That's ok I promise it is really easy, come on breakfast is over and we were going to go do some Quidditch practice then hit up the library and after that make a snack and then practice our dueling skills," Isabelle says, Skylar stands up and they all head out to the Quidditch pitch
"Albus did you see that our little girl is finally making friends, they just walked right up and started talking to her and now she is going to hang out with them," Mcgonagall says excitedly
"Yes Mins, I know I figured if I let the groups mingle and get in their friendship circles one of them would notice her left out and invite her in which is exactly what happened," Albus says
"So what is it we are practicing?" Skylar asks
"I need to boost my speed if I want to catch that damn golden snitch, and Alec and Magnus need to learn to take a hit from the bludgers since their the beaters, Simon could use some blocking practice as he is the keeper, and the chasers, Raphael, Luke, Clary, and Max, they need to practice passing and throwing," Jace says
"I can help with all that, I have been flying since I was three and played Quidditch since I was four, I just didn't try out for the team because I got too nervous," Skylar says "You want to work on your speed, chase me once you are able to catch me you can catch the snitch"
"Let's go then," Jace says
"Alright grab a broom," Skylar says grabbing a broom and once Jace grabs a broom too they take off Skylar zooms through the air so fast she is almost a blur Jace is left in the dust
"Woah you are fast," Jace says Skylar stops herself dead in the air
"That's why I said if you can catch me you can catch that snitch," Skylar says
"How do you fly so fast?" Alec asks
"Everyone grab a broom I'll show you how to fly faster and has more control over your broom," Skylar says they all grab a broom and they fly up to where Skylar is she shows them a few tips on how to fly faster and within an hour they are all zipping around not as fast as Skylar but still fast enough to catch the golden snitch they are all laughing and having a great time even Skylar is finally having fun with her new friends
Meanwhile back inside the castle
"Madame Pomfrey this student has been feeling weird since they got back from Hogsmeade can you take a look at him," Mcgonagall says as she brings a pale weak-looking student into the Hospital wing
"Of course Professor," Madame Pomfrey says she does a full check up on him "It seems he has somehow caught the muggle Flu so a few days bed rest here and lots of fluids should get him right, that is the hundredth kid today"
"Well that is good news, we will talk about how you got the Muggle flu when you are better Mr. Makalaki," Mcgonagall says she walks out into the hall and heads off to find Albus
"Mins there you are my love where have you been?" Albus asks walking up
"Oh I was just bringing a sick student to Madame Pomfrey," Mcgonagall says leaning into his arms
"WOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOO THIS IS AWESOME" Skylar yells as she and her new friends fly through the hall right past Mcgonagall and Albus
"Was that Skylar?" Mcgonagall says
"I do believe it was," Albus says
"Oh she knows the rules she is in so much trouble," Mcgonagall says
"Oh come on dear she is finally having fun and making friends that is what you wanted her to do so you should be happy just let it slide for now she is finally not secluded and avoiding others that is a very good thing," Albus says
"I guess you are right but if it happens again I am grounding her," Mcgonagall says a few hours later and Skylar and her new friends are still flying around inside the castle it is almost time for dinner
"Hey, guys do you think it is about time to go put the brooms away and head to dinner?" Magnus asks
"One more lap around the castle I almost beat Skylar this time," Jace says
"Ha in your dreams you weren't even close" Isabelle laughs
"Thanks for inviting me to hang out with you guys it has been really fun," Skylar says
"No problem you are one of us now kid," Alec says
"Cool," Skylar says "Hey look there is Professor Mcgonagall and Professor Dumbledore, they have raised me since Mumma and Pappa died they rescued me" she points down below the group Madame Pomfrey comes running down the hall
"Minerva, Albus we have a problem we need to get everyone out of here and quarantine the students from the Hospital wing it is like they have gone savage they all dropped into comas about 12 hours ago, and then all of a sudden they woke up and started attacking me they got me pretty good you need to get the other students out of here," Madame Pomfrey says and then a rush of hundreds of infected students come barreling down the hall they start attacking Madame Pomfrey tearing her to pieces
"MINNIE UNCLE AL" Skylar screams as the infected start closing in around Mcgonagall and Albus
"Skylaris take your friends, get them out of here take the secret passageways, and get out of here" Mcgonagall shouts as she makes a circle of fire around her and Albus
"No I'm not leaving you! you are the only family I have" Skylar shouts with tears in her eyes
"Skylar you know the passageways better than anyone take your new friends and get to safety take Fawkes and find Aberforth he will keep you all safe. go now!" Albus shouts as Fawkes comes flying down the hall and hovers beside Skylar
"No I am not leaving you behind Fawkes can lead them to safety," Skylar says
"Princess Skylaris Grace you do this for us you take them and get to safety that is an order!" Albus yells "We promised your father and your mother we would keep you safe it was her dying wish what she asked us with her dying breath. you have to go!" and then the circle of fire fails the infected close in around them Skylar watches as the only two parents she has ever known fall to the infected
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" Skylar wails tears streaming down her face "Fawkes secret passageway Moon Fire, lead quickly. Everyone follow me and Fawkes " Fawkes takes off Skylar and the group follow close behind they get to the Gryffindor common room "Lemon Popper" the door opens and they all fly in, no one is in the Common room Skylar flies over to a portrait across from the fireplace "James, Lily, Sirius, Remus, Severus, Foxen we need passage quickly we need to get to Hogsmeade so we can get away," she says to the portrait of James and Lily Potter, Sirius and Remus Lupin-Black, and Severus Snape
"Skylar dear you have been crying, something is wrong, tell us," Lily says
"No time we need to go now before it's too late," Skylar says
"Go Quickly Princess, get your friends to safety whatever danger you are in we will keep it at bay for as long as we can," James says and the portrait opens up like a door
"Thanks, guys, Fawkes Light the way," Skylar says pointing down the passageway Fawkes flies a little way in and emits a light bright enough to lead them Skylar hops off her broom and holds it in her hand "Magic is blocked in this passageway, brooms and wands won't work, that's why Uncle Al gave me Fawkes, he can light the way, keep your brooms in your hand they will be of use for us to get away, stay close, don't get separated it's a labyrinth down there, Fawkes will show us the right way"
"I wanna go home," Madsie says
"You can't, not until we are sure it is safe, we have to make sure whatever the hell is going on out there hasn't spread throughout the rest of our world, but judging by how fast it has spread here even if it hasn't it is only a matter of time, Uncle Al told me to find Uncle Abe, so that's what we are going to do,...Look I know you have no reason to trust me hell I wouldn't trust me if I were in your position, but Minnie and Al wouldn't have told me to lead you to safety if they didn't think I could do it so we are going to follow Fawkes down the passageway make it safely through the labyrinth of dark tunnels, then through the catacombs to Hogsmeade, and go to my Uncle Abe's house and wait for him there, after that he will get us someplace safe, a safehouse, or a secret castle, something, but we have to stick together, as far as we know we are the only ones in the school who are not infected by whatever the hell is making those people go savage out there, so are you with me?" Skylar says
"You are really mature for an 11-year-old," Magnus says
"I kinda had to grow up fast, to survive living here all my life, I mean my first memory is when I was eight months old and it was watching my parents be viciously slaughtered and being whisked away from our really large house with just a few belongings, during the school year they are kept by Uncle Abe at his place, but I have spent almost every moment since then here in the castle, that's why I know all the secret passageways," Skylar says
"I'm with you," Magnus says
"Me too," Alec says
"Ok," Madsie says
"I'm in," Simon says
"So am I," Maia says
"I'm coming," Luke says
"I'm not getting left behind," Clary says holding on to Jace's arm
"Not going without me," Jace says
"I'm coming too," Max says
"Little Brother isn't going anywhere without me," Isabelle says
"Not leaving me behind," Raphael says
"Alright then let's go stay close," Skylar says everyone else gets off their broom and grabs it in their hands and follow Fawkes down a dark winding passageway, the youngest in the front and the older ones in the back they come to a fork in the tunnels, they stop while Fawkes figures out which tunnel to follow, they hear what sounds like quiet barking
"What was that?" Madsie says latching onto Magnus's arm
"I'm sure it's nothing Madsie don't worry," Magnus says
"It sounded like barking, like a puppy," Skylar says all of a sudden a tiny puppy comes running out of the leftmost tunnel the puppy was small and brown with white patches and a purple collar and tag "Ajax there you are boy, I was so worried I would never see you again" she bends down and the puppy runs right to her she picks him up "It's alright everyone it is just my puppy Ajax" Fawkes finally decides to go down the rightmost tunnel Skylar pulls a leash out of her bag that is charmed with an undetectable extension charm and latches it onto Ajax's collar they all follow Fawkes down the tunnel and through a few more forks before finally making it out of the tunnels and catacombs they come up in the three broomsticks backroom
"Where are we?" Alec asks
"The Three Broomsticks, it's a pub in Hogsmeade not far from Uncle Abe's house, come on let's go out the back door, Fawkes ground yourself, perch on my shoulder," Skylar says and Fawkes lands on her shoulder Ajax stays right by her side and they all walk out the back door from there they can look up and see Hogwarts, a swarm of people are gathering around the castle "Hogwarts wards won't hold them out forever and won't keep the ones inside in forever either, Hogwarts is taken, there goes the only home I have ever known….. Come on let's get to Uncle Abe's it isn't far from here, follow me" they all follow her down the hill and into the home of Aberforth Dumbledore "We should be safe here for now…" she trails off as she stares at a trunk that she recognizes that she has never been allowed to open even though it belongs to her
"Skylar are you alright?" Magnus asks
"Ye...yeah I'm fine it's just I have never seen what is in my trunk with the few belongings Albus and Minnie saved from my first home," Skylar says
"Let's open it," Magnus says
"Yeah" Skylar says hesitantly they all gather around the trunk and Skylar opens it she finds a real gold tiara with a purple gemstone that matches her amulet, at least 12 beautiful purple dresses that are just her size, a silver heart shaped locket with photos of the most beautiful woman Skylar had ever seen with brown hair and crystal blue eyes just like Skylar's left eye and a handsome man with dark skin, long blonde-green hair, and beautiful purple eyes with yellow where the whites should be, she recognized them as her parents, her favorite baby blanket was in the trunk as well as her first and most favorite stuffed animal a stuffed horse she called buddy and a small box of photos, she stuffs the blanket, the stuffed horse, 11 of the dresses, the wooden box of photos and the Tiara in the bag, "Be right back" she goes and changes into the warmest looking dress and puts her other clothes into her bag, and she puts the locket on it hangs a little higher than her amulet, she returns to the others, "Alright Uncle Abe could be back at any moment we will need to leave for the safe house almost immediately so let's stuff as much food, blankets, medical supplies, anything essential into my bag it has an undetectable extension charm on it so we can put everything we need in it" they all start packing anything they see as essential into the bag after about ten minutes Aberforth walks in
"Skylar's what are you doing here Princess you should be at school," Aberforth says but something was off with him he wasn't quite himself, Ajax could sense it and he starts barking at Aberforth
"Ajax what's wrong it's just Uncle Abe, Uncle Abe Uncle Al said you could get us to safety something is happening to people and it isn't good, also why was there a tiara in my trunk and all these dresses?" Skylar says
"We call you Princess for a reason girl, your parents were the king and queen of the wizarding world before they were slaughtered one day when you are older you will take your rightful place on the throne," Aberforth says Ajax is still barking at him
"Ajax what is wrong wi…." Skylar begins to say then she sees that Aberforth's eyes were glazed over just like the infected at the school "Guys run out the back door Uncle Abe has been infected hurry go" Skylar says Fawkes takes off and leads them out the door and deep into the wood
"What now? Where do we go now Skylar what are we going to do?" Alec says
"I…..I don't know he was my last hope, and apparently, I am a Princess" Skylar says
"R3 are you sure this is the right way? We have been walking for hours and I am pretty sure we have passed this tree-like 5 times now….Ha, there is the mark I made! We are walking in circles" A voice says
"Wands at the ready guys," Magnus says they all pull out their wands
"Fine then, you lead, last time I checked you didn't have a GPS signal from the kriffing ship!" A metallic voice responds to the first one.
"Who goes there" Luke orders in his most authoritative voice
"Oh looks like we have company," The first voice says and a small figure dressed in purple armor with a helmet steps out of the shadows.
"What the bloody hell?" Jace says pointing his wand at the figure
"They're just kids," the figure says looking down at a strange rolling trash can
"Oh you're one to be talking," The trash can says sarcastically
"Who are you, reveal your face" Skylar orders
"Very well," The figure says removing the helmet, they see it is a young girl, she was blonde with purple eyes and a scar that went through the tear duct of her left eye. Her hair fell down to her shoulders the moment she removed the purple helmet. "My name is Elsa Phoenix" She clips her helmet to her utility belt as she says this.
"She's just a kid too, in strange attire but a child nonetheless," Simon says
"Simon don't insult her you don't know how dangerous she could be or what weapons she carries," Maia says
"Yeah, it's never wise to insult a Mandalorian. Most girls her age can kill you with one hand before you blink" The trash can
"Shh now R3, it's not nice to mock the locals," Elsa says
"Mandalorian?" Max asks confused
"It's my species, I come from the planet of Mandalore," Elsa says
"You're an alien?" Madsie says hiding behind Magnus
"You could say that most places use the term offworlder," Elsa says
"Well ok then um I am apparently Princess Skylaris, but you can call me Skylar, this is in order of age, Magnus, Luke, Alec, Raphael, Jace, Isabelle, Simon, Clary, Maia, Max, and Madsie, and well I'm the youngest but you get the point," Skylar says
"It's my pleasure to meet you, all of you," Elsa says "Especially you Mi'lady" Elsa bows too Skylar as she addresses her.
"Oh um you can just call me Skylar, and please don't bow to me I literally just found out I am a Princess not ten minutes ago, oh and this is Fawkes my Phoenix and my puppy Ajax," Skylar says
"Noted" Elsa says "So what are 12 kids like yourselves doing in the woods"
"Well our school was attacked by people who have basically gone savage, and apparently it's not just the school my Uncle Abe was turned too, we were the only ones to make it out, I lost my caregivers in that attack," Skylar says
"Geonosis" Elsa mutters under her breath.
"I dont think it's like Geonosis, boss, they said turned," R3 says
"It started with flu-like symptoms, then they collapsed in a coma then they turned and started attacking others, my caregivers included," Skylar says
"Huh," Elsa says "Well whatever they are it's best if we try our best too steer clear and get far away from the school"
"Then we need to go as far that way as possible because the way you are headed is straight towards them," Skylar says
"I told you we were going the wrong way R3," Elsa says
"I'm sorry my sensors are foggy from you're terrible landing" R3 snaps at Elsa
"How old are you anyway?" Skylar asks
"I'm Ten," Elsa says
"Huh, what are you doing here all alone?" Luke asks
"I'm not alone I have R3," Elsa says
"The talking trash can?" Raphael asks with a raised eyebrow
"Droid actually," Elsa says
"A what?" Isabelle asks
"He's called an Astromech Droid, I don't think you have them on this planet," Elsa says
"You are just making up words now," Max says with a grin
"Please tell me you know what a Robot is," Elsa says with a frustrated sigh
"Nope never heard of one of those before," Clary says
"I'm a robot," R3 says "But I prefer the term droid"
"R3, Shut up," Elsa says kicking at her droid.
"Let's start walking the snow is starting to pick up it will cover our tracks but it could also cover us if we don't find shelter soon," Skylar says
"Yeah and keep an eye out for a large ship, that's where we are headed," R3 says
"We are looking for a boat, it is a long walk to the nearest ocean," Skylar says
"No, a spacecraft," Elsa says "I crash-landed in these woods and got a little lost while exploring"
"Ummmmm ok well I will keep an eye out for whatever the hell a spacecraft looks like," Skylar says
"You'll know it when you see it, little lady," R3 says
"Actually I have an idea Ajax is an excellent tracker and Fawkes is the best lead light there is and it is nearly dark, Ajax can get your scent and follow it to your ship," Skylar says
"Good Idea," Elsa says
"Ajax, scent," Skylar says he smells Elsa and then looks out in one direction "Good boy now track"
"Guys….movement 6 O'clock" R3 says as they all hear a rustle in the bushes
"Wands at the ready guys," Skylar says and her group all pull out their wands Ajax bears his teeth and Fawkes lights himself halfway on fire something starts to come out of the bushes they all hear a loud phew sound a red beam hits near the creature, it was a baby Scottish wildcat
"Mreower" the little animal wailed
"Congratulations Elsa, you just shot at a baby animal," R3 says
"Kriff off R3" Elsa says
"It's just a baby Wildcat she is scared and tiny, her parents must have abandoned her she must have been the runt of the litter, she'll die out here all alone," Skylar says
"I hate to interrupt, but it's getting dark, my circuits are going to ice over if we don't find shelter, or better yet, the ship," R3 says
"Hang on trashcan let me help this poor defenseless baby animal that was just scared half to death by being shot at," Skylar says bending down near the wildcat
"Yeah, we can't just leave it here, out in the cold" Elsa agrees
"You…..You shot at it" R3 says
"It was an accident," Elsa says
"How do you accidentally shoot at something?" R3 says
"I am not having this argument with you, again," Elsa says
"It's okay, baby girl I've got you you're safe now," Skylar says she picks it up and puts it in the top of her bag, "I think I will name you little one, your name is Emerald and you are now my little kitten, Ajax meet your new sister" Ajax barks happily and the kitten curls up in the top of Skylar's bag "Alright Ajax, Track" Ajax points the direction the scent is coming from "Fawkes light the way" Fawkes hovers above Ajax and emits a light bright enough for them to see" they all start following them Ajax gets ahead of them but stops frequently to make sure everyone is still there and following
"Looks like Ajax can track better than you, bucket of bolts" Elsa says too R3
"No comment" R3 says
"Rar rar rar rar" Ajax barks happily and points to the large metal ship in the middle of a clearing
"Finally" Elsa sighs seeing the ship, they see relief flood onto her face
"Good Boy Ajax, good boy, once we get inside I'll get you a treat," Skylar says picking Ajax up "You to Fawkes good lighting my feathered friend" Fawkes lands and perches himself on her shoulder
"Well, who wants to get out of the co-" Elsa is cut off by a giant boom from the ship "HEY YOU DI'KUTS YOU CAN'T OPEN THE THRUSTERS WHEN THE SHIP ISN'T IN THE AIR!"
"Commander!" A man says running out too them, he sprints to Elsa and picks her up by the waist swinging her around before setting her back down "Thank the force you're alright, We have been so worried"
"I am fine Wolffe," Elsa says through clenched teeth
"Magnus, I'm cold," Madsie says
"I know sweet pea," Magnus says pulling her close to him
"Come on, let's go in, it's warm in the ship," Wolffe says
"Don't have to tell me twice" Alec says and they all head into the ship

"This place is called earth, but most people aren't magic like us here, we are wizards from the small wizarding world, our group in particular is from the British side of our world, and we go, or I guess we went to Hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry" Luke says "And she can't hear you from in there"
