Summary: This is a Story about three groups of people. A Jedi and her clones, A group of young Wizards and Witches, and 4 adults from central City. The Jedi arrived on the planet of blue and green with her clones shortly after Order 66. She meets the witch and her friends who were running from a terrible horror. The dead had risen and were attacking the living, from there they meet the four survivors from Central city. This team of misfits struggle to survive while the young padawan rushes to fix her ship. When the time is right they flea the dying world and into the Era of the empire where they must still fight to survive. As they meet new friends and enemies along the way. Can they make it or will they fail at the hand of the empire? The first book in the embers series
Chapter Summary: The Clones, The Jedi, The group from Central City and Skylar's friends all meet and spend their first night together on the ship. Mick and Len Build a Wall, Skylar, and Elsa both have Nightmares. Master Obi-wan Kenobi sends out a warning Message and Skylar has a flashback.
"Ahh it's good to be home," Elsa says
"So Ad'ika who's your friends?" Wolffe says gesturing to the kids Elsa had brought back with her.
"Oi! Get off the transmitter before you break it" Elsa scolds rex who was sitting on the holo transmitter "Wolffe who are they" Elsa gestures too four people who were not on her ship before she left. Three guys and a girl
"Yes Mom," Rex says Elsa snarls and grabs something from her pocket chucking it at the man's head, he catches it at ease, "You really shouldn't throw your lightsabers commander"
"We should probably do a proper introduction" The man in a winter jacket drawled.
"Agreed, who should go first," Elsa asks
"I believe we should Commander," Boost says
"Alright, Everyone. I am Commander Wolffe of the 104th attack battalion. This is Commander Elizabeth Phoenix-" Wolffe says
"Call me Elizabeth and I will gut you" Elsa snarls
"She goes by Elsa, that's Sergeant Boost and Sergeant Sinker of the 104th Attack Battalion. Over there, the blonde is Captain Rex of the 501st Legion, and the one with his arms crossed is Commander Cody of the 212th Attack battalion" Wolffe says.
Wolffe had a scar through his right eye and it was cybernetic, his natural eye was brown and his cybernetic was grey. He had black hair that was cut back in the traditional military haircut. He wore grey armor that had a Wolf head on his right shoulder plate and wolf tail on his left shoulder plate. Sinker had grey hair, that was clearly dyed, in the same cut Wolffe had. His armor was white and painted grey in some places. Boost had a maroon double mohawk haircut, his eyes were the same as Wolffe and Sinkers; a light brown. Boost also had white and grey armor. Rex; who was still sitting on the holo transmitter, had on white armor that was painted blue, he held his helmet on his knee. The helmet had the Mandalorian symbol of honor; the jaig eyes painted on it. Rex looked different than his brothers. He had a smaller build and his skin was a much lighter tone. He had his hair in a Buzzcut and it was either blonde or died blonde, it was hard to tell. Leaning on the wall next to Rex was Cody. Cody wore white and yellow armor, he had the same haircut Wolffe had. Cody had a nasty scar on the left side of his face.
"We'll go next," the man from before said, "My name is Leonard Snart, This is my little sister Lisa, her boyfriend Cisco Ramon, and my partner Mick Rory."
"Those three are crooks, I'm a technical engineer," Cisco says
"Technically I'm a Klepto, Lisa has gone clean, and Mick is a Pyro," Leonard says
"Lenny also is pretty good with Engineering," Lisa says
"I have to admit he is. I built him a cold gun, Mick a heat gun, and Lisa a Gold gun. He can now rebuild the cold gun from scratch" Cisco says
"Now it's your turn, Kids" Leonard said
"This is Princess Skylaris, but we call her Skylar, I'm Magnus, this is my boyfriend Alec, my sister Madsie, that's Jace and his girlfriend Clary, that is Isabelle, and her brother Max, that is Simon and his girlfriend Maia, and that one there is Luke and to his left is Raphel, and the animals are Ajax the puppy, the kitten is Emerald, and the bird is Fawkes they are all Skylar's pets," Magnus says pointing to his friends as he called their names
"It's a pleasure to meet you, do you kids need food or blankets," Boost asked
"I made some Hot tea moments ago and there is plenty of it" Sinker chirps
"Oh um no thank you we brought our own food and blankets, and I personally don't drink tea but thank you, kind sir," Skylar says
"You're welcome Milady" Sinker says
"Is the tea sweet?" Leonard asked
"It's hot," Sinker says
"But is it sweet?" Leonard says "Y'know, Sugar"
"What's sugar," Sinker says
"I have some in my bag, Magnus can you watch Fawkes, Alec can you hold Ajax's leash and Madsie can you hold Emerald," Skylar says as she passes her animals to them, she walks into her bag
"Okay, that's not strange at all," Wolffe says sarcastically "Commander what wacko world did you crash us on this time"
"Dunno, whichever one wasn't the star we were about to hit because somebody programmed the Navi wrong," Elsa says
"Oh sure blame me for you almost crashing into a giant ball of heat and gas," Sinker says rolling his eyes
"This place is called earth, but most people aren't magic like us here, we are wizards from the small wizarding world, our group, in particular, is from the British side of our world, and we go, or I guess we went to Hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry," Luke says "And she can't hear you from in there"
"Oh yeah, Elsa I…... Might of flooded the engine room" Rex says sheepishly, Elsa let out a string of curse words that none of the wizards could understand but had the clones laughing
"You cuss like a Space Pirate Commander" Wolffe chuckles
"Not Funny Wolffe. Now, thanks to Rex I can't start working on repairs for two weeks. Two weeks! Do you know how much sooner we could of got this thing in the air" Elsa says
"We could help get the water out," Jace says pulling out his wand
"Mick, Cisco, and I will build a wall to keep out the Zed's, we could use the clones help." Leonard says "And I'm pretty sure she means it's over-saturated Kid"
"Yeah, we gotta wait for the air and engine filters too clear out," Rex says
"Ugghhhhhhhhhh!" Elsa screams and her fist connects with the wall with a loud clang sound
"Y'all sure talk fancy with weird words," Max says Isabelle slaps the back of his head
"Maxamillion, don't be rude, now apologize," Isabelle says
"Ok Izzy, Sorry guys," Max says
"Their aliens what do you expect," Leonard says walking out after taking some tools from Wolffe
"Ah found it," Skylar says walking out with a large two-pound bag of Sugar and handing it to Sinker
"If you'll excuse me," Elsa says through clenched teeth "I need to go meditate before I knock my dear captain out" Elsa stalks down a hallway
"Skylar, what do we do now, do you trust these people?" Raphael asks Skylar in a hushed tone but still loud enough that the others could hear
"I….I don't know Raphael, I have never dealt with anything like this, I mean there is a lot going on at the moment, a lot has happened, I need time to think, and I guess I trust these people they seem decent and I don't think we really have a choice" Skylar says quietly but the others could still hear her "I think I need some air, I'm going for a walk can you guys keep an eye on Ajax and Emerald, Fawkes come with me" Fawkes flies to her shoulder and she walks out and heads off into the woods alone
"I don't think she should be going anywhere outside of this ship alone, especially at night," Wolffe says
"I think maybe she needs space, right now she has had a lot happen in one day, first the only parents she has ever known she watches them get slaughtered in the same manner as her biological parents, then she has to leave the only home she has ever known, then she finds out she is a Princess, then the only family she had left is infected by the same thing that made people kill both sets of her parents, and then she has to flee leading a group of people most of us older than her through the woods, and trying to find safety for them, and I know we haven't made it any easier, so I think she is entitled to a little space, time to herself," Luke says
"You're right, Lay off Wolffe. It's not like the commander doesn't do that" Sinker says "I mean she's held up in her room right now"
"Plus she has Fawkes and her wand, she has been practicing magic for longer than all of us and Fawkes is a Phoenix, he can't die and he will protect her from anything," Jace says
"Alright," Wolffe says glancing down the hallway Elsa went
"Why don't you younglings take a seat, no use in just standing around," Cody says
"Oh ok," Magnus says they all sit down on the floor still in their huddle Alec takes Ajax into his lap and Madsie cuddles Emerald
"There are seats and desks, and consoles you can sit on," Rex says
"Rex didn't the commander tell you to get off the transmitter," Wolffe says
"Maybe…" Rex says
"Oh um we're fine on the floor," Luke says looking around nervous
"Chill out Lucian, I think we are fine, these folk seem nice enough," Magnus says
"Magnus Bane doesn't call me by my full name," Luke says
"Same goes for you," Magnus says
"Hey Cody I dare you to scream out Elizabeth" Rex snickers
"No! I do not have a death wish" Cody exclaims
"Jace, do you think we will ever see our families again?" Clary asks leaning into Jace's shoulder
"I wouldn't get your hopes up my darling, from what it seems the whole world has been infected by whatever the hell is going on, so it is likely our families got hit too," Jace says wrapping his arms around her a few hours later Skylar comes back from her walk, her eyes are bloodshot and her face is blood red with slight tints of blue around her lips and eyes
"Gezz, you look bad, c' mere let's get you warmed up," Wolffe says gently
"Thanks a girl loves to hear that she looks bad, especially a Princess," Skylar says sarcastically as she tries to catch her breath
"Sorry Milady," Wolffe says looking down at his feet in shame
"Skylar you look Freezing, and you are out of breath," Raphael says
"Yeah well a Phoenix can only keep you warm as long as it's warm and Fawkes got cold so I put him inside my jacket pocket to keep him warm, and then I heard something in the woods so I bolted back here I just sprinted about three miles," Skylar says
"Wolffe, it's 2230, you should probably start getting ready for bed, and get the kids settled in for the night," Cody says leaning up against the wall "The others have already headed to bed. I'm about to do the same"
"Thanks, Cody," Wolffe says "Do you kids need anything? Extra blankets?"
"Let's get you warmed up Skylar and get you a few extra blankets from our gracious host cause you look like you are about to keel over," Raphael says he opens her jacket and pulls Fawkes out and hands him to Magnus who uses his wand to heat him up
"I'll be back in a moment," Wolffe says vanishing down a hallway, he returns with a huge stack of very fluffy blankets "Here you go" Wolffe sets the blankets on a nearby table
"Thank you, sir," Isabelle says they all help wrap Skylar in a few blankets and pull their sleeping supplies out and settle down on the floor and going to sleep
"If you need me, I'm in the first room on the left," Wolffe says before retreating into his room. The entire ship was quiet aside from R3 rolling around keeping check on things until about 1 in the morning when everyone was jolted awake by a blood-curdling scream
"MASTER PLO! NO! DADDY!" Elsa screamed in fear
"Wha? Huh wha's'hapin" Jace sits up and says groggily the others aside from Skylar had already sat up and were looking around
"Elsa!" Wolffe came running from his room and down the hall to Elsa's room. Moments later they all head soft singing in a foreign language.
"NO, MUMMA PAPPA MINNIE, ALBUS, ALBERFORTH, NO NO PLEASE NO STOP NO DON'T DO IT NO LEAVE US ALONE LEAVE ME ALONE LET MY FRIENDS GO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO" they all hear Skylar scream they see she is sitting up and she is punching and kicking the air her eyes are open but she is not awake they are glazed over and have turned crystal blue like her mother's from the photograph, none of her friends know what to do they all are just staring at her
"Skylar, what's wrong?" Jace says
"I think she is having a night terror," Magnus says
"No her eyes are open she is awake," Raphael says
"You can be asleep and have your eyes open if you are having a night terror she can't see or hear any of us" Alec says
"Well, what do we do?" Luke asks
"I don't know if there is anything we can do she is flailing around throwing punches and kicks it isn't safe to approach her I heard it is not wise to wake someone in the middle of a night terror they have to wake themselves," Simon says
"Well she isn't waking herself up is that a good or bad thing?" Max says
"In my experience probably bad," Madsie says
"Skylar it's ok come on," Clary says trying to get over to Skylar, Skylar swings and narrowly misses hitting her in the face "Ok that tactic isn't going to work"
"It was worth a try I guess," Isabelle says
"Yeah, anyone else have any ideas on how to help her, cause I'm pretty sure Princess over there doesn't want to be in a night terror any more than we want her in one," Maia says
"If we had a calming draught we could pour it down her throat," Jace says
"If we could figure out a way to restrain her without waking her up yeah that would be an option but we don't have either of the components needed for that to happen," Luke says
"I can hold her," Boost says
"Without waking her up?" Magnus says
"Don't we need to wake her up? We always wake the commander up when she has a bad night terror" Boost says
"No if you wake someone from a night terror it can cause Dream reality confusion borderline personality disorder, it can cause her to go into cardiac arrest, it can cause her to fall into a coma, it could kill her it could cause her to believe reality is fake if you wake them without them waking themselves," Magnus says
"Never happened to the commander," Boost says "Wait you're wizards use magic"
"We don't learn that kind of magic until seventh year we are all fifth-year or below, so we don't know that magic," Alec says
"Oh Recon mission Idea," Boost says
"Boost we are not doing a recon mission to retrieve higher magic books for them," Rex says walking out of the bathroom
"Besides even if you did the teachers would have to teach us and the only teacher who could teach us that got ripped to shreds by the infected whatever the hell they are," Jace says
"Zombies," Boost says in a spooky manor
"Eeeeehhhh I don't like that term" Clary shudders
"Boost stop scaring the children," Rex says "They are called Infected or Zeds we are not using that term"
"So these infected, I wonder if there is a way to cure them then at least we could help Skylar get the only ones with any information about who she truly is back," Isabelle says
"I don't know, we just crashed on this planet 27 hours ago," Boost says
"NO, NO NO NO, STOP PLEASE LEAVE THEM ALONE NO MUMMA PAPPA MINNIE ALBUS ABERFORTH, NO No no" Skylar yells still asleep
"WHAT IS ALL THE FUCKING NOISE CAN'T A GUY BUILD A WALL IN PEACE!" Mick yells before walking in
"She's having a night terror!" Rex says
"Hey here's a bright idea, check her bag for that calming what's it's name thing," Boost says
"Great idea actually," Alec says he walks over to her bag "Accio Calming Draught" a bottle comes flying into his hand "Perfect"
"Hey I have a rope we could tie her up," Sinker says walking out with a rope
"Hand me the rope," Raphael says
"Where the Haran did you get a rope" Rex questions as Sinker hands it over
"I'm going in," Raphael says he charges at Skylar trying to lasso her arms but her purple amulet lights up and blasts him into a wall knocking him out
"Found it in a tree. It was tied to a branch" Sinker says
"Hey kid try magic or a distinct since she seems to have a protection charm," Leonard says walking over
"RAPHAEL" Isabelle screams and rushes over to him
"Let me try something," Leonard says taking the rope and tying a lasso and proceeds to spin it over his head throwing the lasso at Skylar's wrist
"Be careful not to wake her, and we need her to be still long enough to pour this whole bottle down her throat" Alec says
"Yea kid whatever," Leonard says as the Lasso wraps around Skylars left hand he follows up by flipping the rope around her other wrist pulling her wrists together
"Alright hold her still," Alec says "Here goes nothing" Alec walks up and pours the draught down her throat a few moments later Skylar is awake and breathing heavily but she seems to be ok
"Hey Skylar are you ok Little Biscuit," Magnus asks
"DADDY! NO MASTER PLO!" they hear a blood curdling scream from Elsa.
"Damn it, Gotta wake her again" Wolffe grumbles seconds after he had walked into the room
"MASTER PLO! NO! WHY! I KILL YOU! I WILL KILL YOU PAWS!" Elsa screams
"Skylar, are you alright little biscuit?" Magnus asks again
"Ugh I'm too tired to deal with this, one of you can handle her," Wolffe says walking to his quarters
"Skylar little biscuit are you alright speak to me," Magnus says putting his hands on her shoulders, she lets out a loud wail and collapses into his arms crying he just embraces her tightly and lets her cry "It's ok Biscuit it's ok I've got you"
"Mumma, pappa" Skylar cries into his chest
"Alexander go in Little Biscuits bag and find her stuffed horse that she got from her trunk for her," Magnus says Alec goes into her bag and comes back with the stuffed horse, Magnus takes it and hands it to Skylar she latches onto it and Magnus just holds her in his lap as she sits in silence tears still streaming down her face
"What's a horse?" Sinker asks
"The thing she is clutching dumbass it is an animal that people ride on Earth" Jace snaps he his cranky from lack of sleep
"She gonna be alright," Rex asks
"That's just it, we don't know we just became friends earlier today and we have never seen this before, hell we just started following her as our leader because her Uncle told her to keep us safe but now it seems we need to keep her safe" Luke says
"They say terrible things can make friends out of strangers," Cody says
"Part of being a team is helping to keep everyone safe, I lead brothers into battle, It was my job to keep them safe and Alive but it was also their job to keep me safe so the mission could go on," Rex says
"Like it or Not guys, they are right, this is our life now we have to get used to it we will have to rely on one another in order to survive and if one of us fails we all do," Maia says
"You're right, this is your life now, but you don't have to live the life waiting for you on Earth. Commander Phoenix will fix the ship, and we will get off the planet. When that day comes you will have to make a choice. Too leave with us or to stay. It's a dangerous universe out there, but if you play your cards right it can be rewarding, you can find a better future" Boost says
"This is the only world we have ever known, and apparently Skylar is royalty here, the answers to who she truly is lies here, she hasn't a clue who she is or where to start looking to find out hell she doesn't even know her last name, if we went with you would we ever come back would we ever be able to help her find the truth of her family and who she is?" Clary says
"It'll take time before Commander Phoenix can start work on the ship. There is a chance you could find out. But if you were to ask me, who someone is doesn't involve their past or a item it's what they do and what they become in their toughest moments" Cody says
"I still think she wants answers to her past, and we want to help her look, I just wish we knew where to start looking," Isabelle says
"DADDY! DAD! NO! NO! YOU'VE KILLED HIM! THEY KILLED HIM! LET GO OF ME, COMMANDER! I'M GOING TO KILL THEM I'M GOING TO KILL THEM ALL!" Elsa screams
"Should someone go check on Elsa?" Simon asks
"What? It's not like it's safe to wake her from a night terror" Cody says "Least that's what y'all said about Skylar"
"She isn't exactly the same as Skylar, plus didn't Wolffe wake her up?" Raphael says
"I dunno, but I do know none of us are getting any sleep if she keeps screaming," Sinker says
"Speak for yourself I'm passing out," Max says before collapsing on his pillow and falling asleep
"Hey sinker go get her up," Rex says
"Hell no, do you know what happens when you wake her up from an Order 66 nightmare" Sinker says
"How do you handle her maybe I can help," Luke says rolling up his sleeves
"I don't know how Wolffe does it, but I'm sure you should be fine if you wake her from an order 66 nightmare you're not a clone," Boost says
"um, ok then I'll go check on her" Luke says
"What he means is she won't attack you like she would one of us," Sinker says
"Did you guys kidnap her or something cause why would she attack you?" Raphael says
"It's a very long story," Cody says as Wolffe walks out of his room
"That isn't a No you didn't kidnap her," Raphael says
"No, we didn't kidnap her, our brothers executed the Jedi, one of those Jedi were her master, her father. Would of been her too had I not saved her. Rex, Cody, Boost, Sinker, C-comet, and I are the only clones who did not execute order 66" Wolffe says "I think the only thing that keeps her with us is the fact I helped raise her since childhood. I was there when General Plo wasn't"
"Alpha, I thought we all made a unanimous agreement to never speak of that day again," Boost says softly
"They needed to know we didn't kidnap her. If you guys want further information ask the Commander herself" Wolffe says
"Um well as long as Elsa wasn't kidnapped then I guess that's all the information we need," Maia says
"Not like we could actually kidnap her anyway, she ain't exactly harmless. She's a Kriffing Mandalorian" Sinker says
"Sinker, Mandalorian probably means nothing to them," Cody says
"Whats Kriffing mean?" Madsie asks innocently looking at him with her big eyes
"Basically it's an explicit it is also what two people do to make a child" Sinker says bluntly
"AH DA da da da da da" Magnus says as Alec covers her ears "Maybe don't explain that to my little sister"
"Why? She doesn't look any younger than Commander, Commander hears and says that all the time" Sinker says
"You mean You let the commander say it, I don't," Wolffe says
"She has the mental capacity of a six-year-old and since I am in charge of her now officially I prefer if she doesn't learn about that until at least age 12 preferably 14 but at least 12," Magnus says
"NO! I WAS GOING TO KILL HIM. WHY DID YOU SHOOT HIM!" Elsa screams
"Well I know what she's dreaming about," Wolffe says sadly
"I'll try to wake her up and calm her down," Luke says walking into Elsa's room, he saw she was drenched in sweat and clutching her bed sheets for dear life. "Elsa it's alright, wake up it's ok" He touches her shoulder hesitantly
"Hua!" She gasps bolting upright in bed, a silver cylinder flies from across the room into her hand and she was tense for a moment her, when her eyes landed on him she relaxed and put the cylinder down "It's just you" She breathes in relief
"You ok there kid sounded like you were having a pretty bad night terror," Luke says
"Perks of being a soldier," Elsa says sarcastically
"It's kinda strange Skylar had one tonight as well about her parents from what it sounded like, and from what I heard yours was about your dad?" Luke says
"He wasn't my dad, although I called him that when we weren't around the council. He was my master, my teacher; his name was Plo Koon and he was the nicest man in the galaxy." Elsa says
"He sounds wonderful," Luke says
"He was, but so often the best people get the worst of Luck. He lead the 104th battalion and saw every one of those clones as his sons" Elsa says
"I know about the best people getting the worst of luck," Luke says
"He was shot down by his own men, blown out of the sky by the men he considered his children, while I watched helplessly. Would of been killed too but Wolffe saved my life, he shot down his own brothers to keep me safe, course they turned on him when he tackled me to the ground out of their line of fire" Elsa says
"Well at least that shows that you can trust him he has real loyalty to you," Luke says
"He's the only clone on the 'last defenders' that I trust. I don't trust the others any further than I could throw them" Elsa says
"How long have you and them been together?" Luke asks
"I've been with Wolffe, Boost, and sinker since I was two." Elsa says
"I meant how long have you been together as a whole team kid" Luke asks
"It's been 15 weeks," Elsa says
"Give it time at some point they will prove themselves to you and you will learn to trust them," Luke says
"I know I should trust them, they removed the mind-control chips, inhibitor chips, that were in their head but when I see them I can imagine the others who turned their guns on me," Elsa says
"I mean I can understand that and it will take time it hasn't even been a full five months yet so it will take a while before you trust hardly anyone," Luke says
"Yeah, at least it doesn't happen with-Hua!" She gasps putting a hand over her chest. He saw her eyes squeeze shut, and her pale skin had gone even paler.
"Elsa are you alright," Luke says in a panicked voice "WOLFFE"
"What! What's wrong" Wolffe comes running in the room
"I don't know we were talking and this started happening," Luke says
"Gone…...gone" Elsa whimpers pulling her knees to her chest
"Another one dead," Wolffe says "This isn't good, the empire must be hunting those who fled"
"Is Elsa alright?" Luke asks
"She's feeling the death of another Jedi," Wolffe says
"And that is where I am going to take my leave and let you handle this Wolffe," Luke says walking out the door
"Younglings," Elsa says as Luke is leaving "They found the secret youngling temple and slaughtered them all. They killed the children" Luke stops dead in his tracks and walks back in
"Wait they killed children, and if they are looking for the ones who escaped doesn't that mean they are looking for you?" Luke says
"Yes," Elsa says suddenly they all hear a beeping sound coming from the bridge "Were getting a transmission" Elsa jumps out of her bed and walks too the bridge with Wolffe and Luke, where all the wizards were either sleeping or taking care of Skylar.
"Are you sure we should take it" Wolffe says
"It's just a recorded message Wolffe, not a holo-transmission," Elsa says hitting the blinking button, on the circular console. A Blue holographic image of a man in a cloak appeared. The man had short hair and a beard, a silver cylinder different from Elsa's hung at his waist
"This is Jedi Master Obi-wan Kenobi, I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen into dark times, having crumbled into nothing and the dark Shadow of the Empire risen too take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder to any and all remaining and surviving Jedi, whether you are A master, a knight, or merely a Padawan. Do not return to the temple…. that time has past and our future is uncertain. We will all be tested and we all have hardships ahead of us. We will be tested. Our trust. Our faith. Our friendships. But we must prevail, we will prevail. We must preserve. And in time a new hope will arise. I send this in my final moments at the temple, for some of you this may take weeks to reach. I hope it reaches you before the clones do. I will say it again, don't return to the temple and don't trust the clones, they are the cause of our fate.
