This fanfiction is for those who HAVE NOT read the Manga. I watch SDS on Netflix and know only the contents of the first three seasons. Also, if you have not watched the first three seasons do not read this. It may contain spoilers.

I don't own these characters. Nakaba Suzuki does.

Meliodas held Liz's body in his hands. Her uniform was damp and her body was heavier than it normally was, but Meliodas didn't notice. The anguish in his hearts throbbed painfully as he looked at Liz's face, cold and bloody.

In front of him was a large, gaping hole that used to be Danafor. Meliodas, his eyes empty, looked into the deep dark blackness.

This was his fault. If he hadn't been in Danafor, Fraudrin wouldn't have come, wouldn't have killed...

Suddenly, the wail of a newborn pierced his sharp ears. His head shot up and saw that a few miles away a baby, wrapped in a brown cloth, was lying on its back.

Meliodas ran over carrying Liz, wondering if it was possible that anyone had survived. There was no way, was there?

Sure enough, there was a silver-haired baby lying in the grass. Meliodas immediately understood. A mother must've seen the wave of destruction coming, and threw their baby as far as they could for their safety. Meliodas's heart ached. How many lives had he destroyed? Meliodas looked at Liz, and then at the baby, and an idea struck him.

It was horrible- a very inhumane thing. The baby would never get to live.

But Meliodas wasn't human. He was a demon. And because he had tried to fit in with humans, Liz had...

But that didn't matter. Meliodas set Liz down gently, then touched the baby's face and chanted a quick incantation. The baby's soul, a pale blue, came out of its mouth. The baby's brown eyes went dark.

"I'm sorry," Meliodas told it. Holding the baby's soul in one hand, he used his other to remove Liz's. Hers was bigger than the baby's, and Meliodas wondered if it would really work.

It had to work.

First, Meliodas put the baby's soul into Liz's body, knowing that the baby would die. Then he carefully put Liz's soul into the baby's mouth, making sure he didn't harm the soul in any way.

The baby's eyes turned a startling blue, Liz's blue. It then drew in a ragged breath then started crying, and Meliodas felt warm tears streaming down his face.

"We will meet again," Liz had said before.

"Yes, yes we will." Meliodas murmured to the baby, holding it close to his chest. He looked at Liz's old body, with the soul of the baby, then at the hole which had taken away who knows how many lives.

"My sin," Meliodas whispered. "Mine."

Then he walked up the hill to go start a new life.
