Chapter 39: A Spooky Treat

I lay in bed and watch the sun come up, yawning as I get out of bed. "Looks like it will be fall soon, then it will be Halloween, I'll need to get a costume." I think to myself as I get into the shower.

I head down the stairs into the kitchen and mum looks up at me, "You're looking better."

I smile as I nod my head, "Yeah, I feel like my old self again. Do you think I can go back to work now?" I asked.

She nodded, "Yes, just, don't overdo it."

I give her a hug before I walk out the front door and head to the café. I walk in the front door, calling out "Aunt Cass, hello."

She walked out of the kitchen and came over to me, "You look all better, are you excited for Halloween?"

I nod in reply as I grab my apron and tie it on, "We can make some Halloween treats for the café."

Aunt Cass nods her head, "Yeah, we can, and I'll teach you some fall recipes as well."

I let out a giggle as I serve out the food the customers in the café. After a little while, Hiro comes down the stairs, "Hey sis, you look a lot better. You seem to be over your cold."

I smile as I put some more cookies into the display case, "Want to help us make fall cookies and treats for Halloween?"

Hiro flashes a toothy grin as he pulls on an apron, Aunt Cass looks over at us, shocked but proud. She cleans up around us as we make the cookie dough and find the cutters. Hiro rolls out the dough and cuts it while I colour and knead the dough. As we finish cutting the cookies and putting them on the tray Hiro looks over at me, "How is your hand feeling?"

"Better, it still hurts but it's getting better." I say looking down at my hand.

A little later, Tadashi wakes up, looks at the clock and lets out a shout at how late it was. He jumps out of bed and rushes around getting dressed before running down the stairs and into the café. Panting, he comes to a stop before Aunt Cass, "I'm sorry, I didn't hear my alarm go off this morning."

Aunt Cass smiles, "It's okay, you're looking pale, are you feeling okay?"

He nods as he looks over at me, "Morning Sakura, you look better."

I look up and giggle as I say, "Good morning Nebosuke."

"I did not oversleep, I just fell back asleep."

Hiro rolls his eyes, "Are we going to have a fall festival and costume party this Halloween?"

I look up with a sparkle in my eye, "I would love to go to the Fall Carnival, that will be the easy part. I have to find something to ware though."

Aunt Cass nods as she says, "We should have a party as well, we can watch spooky movies together."

I shiver as they say that, "Spooky movies, really?" Hiro and Tadashi look at me and nod again, causing me to shiver yet again, "Can't we just watch anime instead?"

Tadashi just shakes his head, "Fred has the best collection of scary movies that there is, they will give you a good fright." Both Tadashi and Hiro grin evilly at me.

I shake my head back and forth quickly, "Please, not monster movies? I like some of them, but most of them are just too scary for me. I may just leave early, and you guys can watch them."

Aunt Cass puts her hand on my back, "Maybe we can watch a funny one, or one that we know and can see is fake." She finishes with a wink to the boys.

Hiro looks at me with a smile, "Maybe we can find one of the older movies that the special effects are terrible on. That way you know what its fake."

I smile in thanks as I put icing on the cookies and Tadashi walks over to me, "Are you really scared of the movies?"

I hide a blush as I respond, "Yeah, but it is mainly the jump scare and thrillers that get me. I prefer creepy."

Tadashi lets out a small laugh, "Well, I will be there, you can always talk to me if you're feeling scared."

I smile at him and say thank you, he distracts me that much I end up icing my hand instead of the cookies. I blush and hide my face with my hair, he just gets up and to get a cup of tea. Hiro smirks at me, "So, are you making your hand a cookie or was it just low on sugar?"

I glare at him and wash down the bench and my hand, "Maybe we should go looking at costumes in the next couple of days." Hiro looked between me and Tadashi thinking to himself, 'They both have a crush on each other, I wonder who will admit it and pounce first.'

Tadashi nods, "Oh, it will be a themed costumed party, I'm thinking Marvel for the theme." He finishes, trying to hide another cough.

"Marvel sounds like fun, only problem is I don't know it that well." I say looking down.

Hiro smirks back, "You have to have been living under a rock not to know."

"No, I just don't know comics as well as you guys do, but I can learn, I guess Fred would be able to help me."

Hiro nods and raises and eye brow, "Can you learn it in a day?"

"I am sure I can. I will at least try and learn as much as I can." I giggle at him running my hands through his hair as he tries to get away from me. "So, lets plan a day where we can get spooky."

Tadashi laughs as he sips his tea and Hiro successfully pulls away, "Beware Hiro, you may end up with braided hair."

Hiro rolls his eyes, "Yeah yeah, whatever you say." I laugh as Tadashi just sits and watch us bicker as he drinks his tea.
