Big Hero 6: The Art Thieves

Chapter 44: Meeting the Grandparents

As the plane comes to a stop on the tarmac, we all grab our luggage, and making sure Kiba was fine, climbed down off the plane. When he got to the bottom of the stairs, Fred looks over at me, "So, who is picking us up? And, where are they?"

"My grandparents, they should be out the front, if not I'll give them a call." The stars were shining bright as we made our way into the terminal.

We walk out the front and I immediately see my grandparents, I quickly shove my bags and Kiba's lead into Tadashi's hands before calling out to them and running to give them a hug, the gang following behind me, laughing at my antics. I turn and smile apologetically at Tadashi, seeing that Fred had taken Kiba to give him a hand. "I would like to introduce my grandparents."

My grandmother stepped forward with a smile, "I am Ume, it's nice to meet you all. If you need anything, feel free to ask and I can bake most things, so don't be afraid to ask for something."

I try to hide my giggle as my grandpa steps forward, "My name is Hamato and I am happy you were all able to come."

As we head back to the car, I take my bags back off Tadashi, leaving Fred with Kiba. Grandma turns and looks at me, "When we get back to the house, I have star cakes waiting for you."

I look her, eyes bright and a grin on my face "You made star cakes, just for me? Oh, you are the best!" I skip the rest of the way to the car, listening to the laughter of the gang. When they get to the car, Grandpa opens the boot and we all pile our bags into it, waiting for the rest to finish putting the Tadashi turns to me and asks, "What is a star cake?"

I grin at him, "It's two cakes, iced together and cut in the shape of a star. Store bought is good, but homemade are even better." Tadashi just smiles at me and tries to hide a sneezing fit from me.

Just as we exit the airport and hit the road to head to my grandparents, Fred turns to me, "So, do you know when we can go and see the set where it was filmed? Please?" He leans over in the seat, giving me the puppy dog eyes trying to get me to give to him. I can't help but laughing at him as I reply, "Yes, we can. But we just had a long flight to get here, let's just rest for a night. Tomorrow we can go exploring." The heat off his smile could have lifted a hot air balloon.

As we pull up into the driveway Aunt Cass look at me, "This is their house? It's huge, and very pretty." I hide a blush as we walk in and put our things down. Grandma walks back out of the kitchen with a plate of star cakes, "Help yourself, I made way too many, have as much as you like."

I let out a giggle as I walk up and grab a cake off the tray, "Oh Grandma, you always know how to make people happy." She hugs me and we all sit down at the table to talk and let my grandparents get to know the gang. "Sakura," grandpa turns to me, "Don't forget that they will be setting up for the summer festival later, and the area for the winner as well." Grandma sits down after placing the tea tray down.

The others look at me and I hold my hands up in defence of myself, "What? My grandparents entered me, it's not like I am going to win."

Tadashi let's out a yawn, rubbing his eyes to show just how tired he truly was, "I don't know what you guys are thinking, but I think we should get some rest, we can go out later."

Hiro yawns, "Yeah, that plane ride was bumpy, we could all use some sleep." The others nod in agreement and we head upstairs to the bedrooms, the rest of the gang heading up to the guest rooms while I head into mine. But before I could get there, Grandma comes up to me, "Is that the boy you like? He is very polite, and cute."

I try and hide a blush that was turning my face a cherry red colour as I turn and look at Grandma, "He is just my friend, nothing more Grandma. So please don't embarrass me in front of him."

She lets out a small laugh as she gives me a hug, "Okay, go get some rest. We will see you in the morning." Grandpa give me a kiss on the top of my head they head into their room, off to bed as well.

I walk past the boy's room and let out a giggle at seeing Tadashi asleep and snoring slightly. I smile at Hiro as he walks over to me rubbing his eyes, "He was just so tired that he fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. Then again, he was up all night with his coughing. Also, why are you not tired?"

"I guess I am just so excited that we are here and safe. I think I am also used to the time zones changing as well." I smile at him and ruffle his hair, "Go get some sleep."

He glares at me, "Not the hair sis." I laugh as I head down the hall.

I roll my eyes as I head to my room, calling over my shoulder, "Don't forget you still have to wear the tutu and dance for me. You better make it good." I call back to him from my doorway.

Hiro rolls his eyes at me, "If I have to dance in a tutu, you have to dance the tango with Tadashi, rose and all."

I growl at him from my doorway, "That is not going to happen. Sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite."

I turn and sit on my bed, Hiro following me into my room and grins at me, "This week is going to be full of twists and turns."

"I feel like this is blackmail."

Hiro has the trademark Hamada smirk, "Dang right sis."

I shake my head as I push Hiro out my door and close it behind him. I sit down on the bed and Kiba licks my hand. I smile as I change into my light pink pyjamas. I get into bed and turn the light off, I lay down and turn to Kiba, "It is great to be home." Kiba jumps up on my bed in response and, after a few minutes, we both fall asleep.

Tadashi wakes up with a cough and goes to get a glass of water. He heads back to bed, walking around a loudly snoring Hiro. He lays down and was nearly asleep when he reaches out and grabs his bear, hugging it to himself, Hiro opens one eye and with a smirk falls back asleep.
