Disclaimer: I don't own RWBY or Overlord!
Summer heard someone calling her name. She groaned and blearily opened her eyes, looking at her awkener. It was her sister, July. Wha… What's going on?
"Summer! Are you alright?"
"Huh? Oh, uh… Yeah! A Hero like me can't get hurt! But, uh, what's going on?" July sighed at her sister's bravado. "Honestly I don't kno-!" She cut herself off. Her silver eyes locked onto a pair of crimson. Crimson Grimm eyes. Summer followed her gaze, screaming in shock at the sight. July quickly stood up and grasped for her weapon, and upon realizing that neither it or her armor was present, prepared to use her semblance. Similarly, the Beowulf pup prepared to use its own. Just one problem. Neither could activate them.
Hey now, no fighting in my domain unless I give the say-so.
The voice alarmed all occupants of the room, everyone taking notice of each other as they looked around for the source of the voice. There was an older looking man with a cane in black and green, a pair of dark-haired red-eyed fraternal twins, the Beowulf pup, and the rest of Argentum.
Yeah, no. I'm not in the room, just projecting my voice.
"F-for w-wh-what p-purpose have y-you brought u-us h-here? A-and how?" Camilla stuttered, everyone around muttering in agreement.
Heh, to read about the future, why else?
"The FUTURE?!" Summer cried out, starry eyed. July narrowed her eyes.
"That's completely preposterous."
"Ah, but not at all, my fair lady!" A boisterous voice called out. July froze. Oh no. "It seems that my return has been moved forward! Very well! It is only right for me to enter like a true HER-!" An invisible force knocked him upside the head.
No.
"Wha-?! But-!"
I SAID NO! JUST EXPLAIN!
"Oh, very well," August pouted. "Right! July, my love, it is entirely possible for this strange mysterious voice is telling the truth! For upon my travels, I discovered magic!"
"MAGIC?!" Summer squealed. Surely this future would be about her, the hero!
"August! Stop filling my sisters head with your delusions!" July snapped.
"But it is not a delusion my dear, what August says is the truth." The elder man walked forward. "My name is Ozpin, the headmaster of Beacon Academy. I can assure you that magic is very much real." The people around whispered and muttered. The twins looked at each other with narrow eyes. July was not convinced, but entertained them anyway. "Well… fine then. Say I believe you, that magic is real, that you will be showing us the future. Why? What's your game?"
No game. I'm just bored. Sides, it's a good story and your reactions will be funny.
Most people in the room face-faulted. The ones who didn't had looks of disbelief. "He-hey! What about THAT thing?!" The male twin asked, pointing at the pup. Said pup growled at him. Many in the room were anxious about the small Beowulf pup as well.
Eh? Oh, him. Don't worry about him, he's harmless...kinda.
An Argentum villager sputtered, "Don't worry? Harmless!? Kinda!?"
Look, no one here can act on any malicious intent, unless you wanna insult the Grimm pup to death, in which case, be my guest. You can't hurt him, he can't hurt you. Aura, Semblances, Magic, and any other potentially harmful whatsit is not present.
There were various outcries of rage and disbelief, A)This seemingly powerful being kidnapped them, and B)They were being told that Humanity's greatest threat bar itself was harmless and not allowed to be harmed.
O-KAY, that's enough. Hey, are you listening to me!? Shut up! All of you! Sit down, shut your traps and I'll explain! Wha-Grraaauuughhh...I. Said. That's. ENOUGH!
Silence descended at last.
One. Question. At a time. Per person or pair that I name. Ozpin. Branwens. July. August. Camilla. Summer. In that order. If I hear one peep out of line from anyone you're all going to burn alive(no you won't Jon and other STRQ writers kinda need some of you, but you don't need to know that). Capiche?
Nervous, everyone shifted their gaze to Ozpin. He looked perfectly unperturbed, perhaps even a bit mellow. "Hmm...one question...Will we get the opportunity to ask more questions later on?"
Yes, you will. Would you like me to not count that as a question, or is that all?
"...That is all. Actually, if I may have a cup of coffee…?"
Screw it, granted. Next.
The female twin stepped up. They'd discussed their questions in near silent whispers. "What will be revealed in this…'story'?"
Honestly? I don't even know the full story yet. The book's words only depict the future up to a certain point ahead. Though I can tell you that the gravity of this story may very well affect the fate of Humanity. So far, personal revelations and make-or-break bonds. Next.
That got everyone nervous, visibly in the case of all but Ozpin, who merely lost his idle smile. Personal? The fate of Humanity? July determinedly stepped up. "What of the present? Our village? Our crops?"
Not to worry, time has slowed in the 'present'. It's impossible to stop the force of time completely, and I say present like that because it is really, really confusing. Look, I took you from a certain point in timeline A, right? This timeline is identical to timeline B in every way, except timeline B is still going even though timeline A is paused. There are parts of every timeline that aren't 'written' yet, the future, and you can't read what has yet to be written. Getting back on track, ish, your present is another timeline's past. You have no idea how dumbed down this is, my brain is splitting in half just thinking about thinking about the complex version, spare me the thought of trying to explain it.
Bottom line, there's hundos of thousands of millions of abajillions of timelines and worlds and realities and dimensions out there, and yours is one of them. Humbling, huh? Anyawho, I slowed your timeline to bring you here. So, by the time you return, a total of maybe thirty seconds would have passed. At least twenty, for sure. I don't think Grimm are gonna storm Argentum in twenty seconds. Next.
August exchanged a glance with July as he strode up to the unofficial place to speak to The Voice. "Who is the hero of this story?"
Easy. Summer Rose. Yo, Argentum villagers, flies gonna start poppin in soon. Yes, Summer Rose, you heard correctly, is the hero of this story. With her 'Villain' and companion, though she doesn't know that she has a companion. Or refuses to admit it, it's funny either way.
Summer rocked on her heels, silver eyes round with wonder. She was going to be a hero! At last! Camilla gulped as all eyes landed on her. "U-uhm, wh-why are y-you do-doing this?"
I answered that already, I'm bored. Also, ther are some amazing works and people out there that deserve recognition, don't ask, NEXT!
The question spilled from Summer's lips before she'd even thought about it. "What's the story called? And if you wanna answer, what's your name?" The Voice chuckled.
The story is called Overlord. It's about one tragic soul in particular, and a simple one that helps him. As for my name? I make it a point not to share it, but you can't just keep calling me 'voice' or 'stranger', now can you? Call me what everyone else in my plane does, Kokinado. Before anyone thinks too hard about it, simply put, those in my plane are above the gods of your world. We control everything in your world and so very many others. We are the Writers. Don't worry too hard about it, just relax. We're starting now. I'll read the first chapter and pass the book onto whoever wants to read next.
With that, people were thrown into beanbags and cushions that weren't there before.
Ozpin was to the left Summer and Mordred, who were forced into the same beanbag, much to Summer's nervousness. To their right were the twins, on their own cushion. Behind them, August, July, and Camilla sat, July in the middle directly behind Summer and Mordred. Everyone else was scattered around. July glared hard at the pup, confusion swimming in her head. Camilla was nervous, as usual, and August was occupied with his thoughts.
Alright, the chapter is titled 'Welcome to the Horde'. Viewer discretion advised~
Okay, that's done. If you have questions and it makes sense for the characters to ask them, I'll have those for the 'later' questions. Check out the original story by DownSmashJon! See ya!
