Chapter 49: Mayor-or-May Not
The sun was shinning in my room as I yawned and climbed out of bed. I put my robe on and walked into the kitchen just as the news came back on, I turned to look at my grandparents, "Why is the Mayor on the news? When he is on the news, it's never anything good."
My grandmother looks over at me, "Last night, the guest singer for the festival was kidnaped from her hotel room. No one know how and they have no clues. The Mayor says that if she isn't found soon, then he is going to be closing the festival altogether." She finishes as she continues to make breakfast.
I let out a gasp at that, "He can't just close it! Everyone has been working so hard on setting up the festival. And what about the shops that are relying on the income that the festival brings them?"
My grandmother nods her head she takes a sip of her tea. "I know, Cherry blossom, but it is out of out hands. Unless you know where she is or a way to find her, then there is nothing that we can do."
I move to start setting the table as I say, "The festival is way too important to the city, it helps bring in tourists and more money for the city." My grandmother nods her head in agreement and finishes off breakfast.
I let out a small sigh as I head back up to my bedroom to get ready for the day. I choose a traditional orange and red oriental suit to wear for the day. The top is a deep orange with yellow lining on the sleeves, neck and bottom. The bottom of the top passes my hips and displays a red, blue and yellow floral design. The high neck and bottom splits are tied together with a yellow leaf-like tie. The sleeves are spilt up to the shoulders without a tie. The bright red capri pants are lined with the same yellow lining. Both legs have a small split on the side near the ankle, held together by the yellow leaf like ties. The shoes are the same deep orange as the top and are lined with the same yellow ad tied with the same leaf-like ties. Finally, two blue-beaded hair ties hold my hair into pigtails.
As I walk back out and set the table for lunch, Hiro comes out, "Sakura, did you hear the news earlier this morning? It sounds bad, but I think we can get Baymax to scan the city for her body heat and find her that way. You can fly around with him as he does it."
I smile at hearing that, "That sounds like a great plan. But we will have to try a little later so Tadashi doesn't find out." Hiro nods his head aT me. I couldn't help myself; I ran my hand through his head as I let out a giggle, Hiro turns and glares at me while sticking out his tongue.
Tadashi wakes up and walks into the kitchen, trying to wipe the drowsiness off his face, "What are you guys talking about?" Hiro and I jump at the sound of his voice.
"D-d-dashi, we were just talking about what we were going to be doing for the afternoon. We might go to the fair grounds and see what games they have set up." Tadashi nods his head and makes a cup of tea.
After he leaves, I look at Hiro, "That was way too close for comfort." I try and shake the pink from my face.
I try to calm down as Hiro sends me a smirk, "Dashi, I stopped calling him that years ago. You must have a crush."
I blush again while still glaring at him, "No, I was just surprised, that's all."
Hiro just nods his head at me as he helps me get the glasses set on the table for lunch. As we were getting all settled down, Honey Lemon looks over at me, "It's so sad to know that the mystery singer has been kidnapped." I nod back, hoping that Tadashi doesn't pick up on me having a plan to try and rescue her.
As we finish lunch, Fred looks at the news, "So, it seems that without that singer, the whole festival is going to be shut down. And that means no movie, which means that no one is going to be able to see my awesome moves and stunts." He finishes, pouting like a child that was denied a new toy from the toy shop, or a rare card from his favourite card deck.
I laugh as I sit down on the couch, "That is why we are going to find her. That way the festival is not done for. You coming?"
Fred nodded is head and gets up to get ready. Once we were ready, we head into town, "I think I know someone who could help us." I say looking around the festival site.
Wasabi looks at with a raised eyebrow, "You're not thinking of asking Yin for help, are you?"
I nod at him, "I mean, he did help you find me, so he has to be on our side, at least a little." We walk around a little more before I say, "She could be in the Tokyo tower but who know just how many guards there are. And how would we get in there?" We look around the festival site again, "Where could he be? He does live in the city so I hope he could help us. We should head back; we can look again tomorrow." I say looking around as the others nod their agreement. We walked to the exit of the festival, on our way back to my grandparents' house when I saw him coming around a corner, "Yin!" I yell, running up to him with the gang following me, "we are going to try to find and rescue the mystery singer and were hoping you would help us."
Yin nods his head, "Okay, meet me tomorrow night at the tower just before nightfall and we will make a plan. We need to save the festival; it is a huge thing for this city. I also know all the back doors to the tower and city." I let out a small giggle at the grin on his face as we said goodbye and he walked away.
We walk in and Tadashi looks up from where he was sitting, "So, how does the square look? Lots of decorations up?"
I nod, "Yeah, I even got a glimpse at the fireworks display that they may use."
We all sat down at ate dinner, talking about the festival and our hope that it would still go ahead, me while trying not to give anything away. I help grandma clean up before getting ready for bed. I change into my Hong Kong style pyjamas, and sit on my bed, patting Kiba who was sitting in front of me, "I hope we can rescue her. I can't wait to fly on Baymax." Kiba barks and licks my hand. I let out a small giggle as I turn out the lights and crawl into bed, almost immediately falling asleep.
