Mervin Dvorak Szyslak was the father of the two younger Szyslak brothers Oliver and Morty as well as the eldest brother Tommy. He was born an only child in May the 14 1876, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, to a frumpy Czech mother and a depressed Polish Yiddish father who were both political refugees.
He then immigrated to Llanview, Pennsylvania, USA in 1891, without the overbearing parents. Then he started a rival business to Scorpio's in Springfield after he moved there from Llanview in 1896. But Scorpio's won the fight and then acquired his business!
Then he had to go to work at a car parts factory, where he met the love of his life Jessica Benedetti. They got married and then birthed a first child named Tommy Szyslak, in 1904. They then birthed Oliver Szyslak in 1907. After ww1 ended, they birthed twins Morty Szyslak and Myra Daisy Szyslak Murdoch Sloane in 1919! He wasn't a lucky money spender either.
He died on August 16 1960, aged 84 years old.
