Big Hero 6: The Art Thieves
Chapter 53: Festival Night Warm-Up
I wake up just as the sun starts to rise, stretching as I look out the window, noting how wonderful the day looked for the start of the festival. I couldn't wait to see what would happen tonight, regardless of the weather. I get out of bed a grab my clothes for the day; they were mostly grey, white and black fabric. There was a plain white dress that was to be worn under the black top that was also white with a black rim, four buttons down the front with a yellow star stamped on the right side that had a ribbon coming down off it. At the back, the top splits into two tails at the waist that comes down to my knees. The skirt of the dress was separated in front and had a flat grey piece that covered it. It was worn with a pair of grey gloves that had black rims and splits in the sides. The boots are thigh high with black rims at the tops and four black buttons down the front and the sides are split. The hat was grey with a yellow star and ribbon on it.
I walk out to the kitchen, smiling at my grandparents sitting there, "Good morning, it's a lovely day for the festival to start, don't you think?"
Grandma looks up at me, "Very lovely. I think it's going to be such a great night as well."
I sit down at the table and make myself a cup of tea, drinking it while I play on my phone. I was just about finished my tea when I got a message from someone asking me to meet them at the festival grounds. I quickly finished my tea before standing up and heading to the door, "I am going to head out for a bit," I say sitting down and putting my roller skates on, "I'll be back soon and I think the others need a little more sleep before tonight."
"Don't worry, we'll look after your friends if they get before you get back." Grandma called out as I giggled and walked out the door. I take off to the festival grounds, going as quickly as I could. I pulled up to the bench where they were sitting and sat down next to them, "Hey, sorry I'm late." I pant as I take off the skates and tie them together.
She smiles at me, "It's okay, I just got here. I just wanted to say thank you for the rescue the other night. It was really brave of you all."
I couldn't help the blush that appeared on my face, "It was really the song that you were singing that helped me find you. I really like your singing."
She laughed, "Thanks, did you maybe want to get some bubble tea and hang out a bit before the festival starts?"
"Sure." I smile at her. We walk to the café and order our drinks, taking them back to the table before really talking again. "I am really glad that the festival is going ahead," I say, "We were really worried when the mayor said that it may be closed."
"Well, if it wasn't for you and your friends, it would have been. It's only because you guys found and rescued me when you did." I smiled at her and we finished out teas, talking about anything and everything. I take the last sip I wipe the corners of my mouth and look up at her, "So, will I see you at the festival tonight?"
She finishes her tea before nodding her head, "Yeah, definitely." We both get up and put our cups in the bin, "I have some things that I need to do around town before tonight, if you're not doing anything, would you like to come with?"
"Nothing on that I am aware of; I'd love to help you." We head off around town, getting everything that she needed have having a great time. Once we were done, we head back to the festival grounds to go our separate ways. We sit down on the bench while I put my skates back on. We say goodbye and I turn to go back home when she calls out, "I will meet you under the cherry blossom trees tonight. I will be wearing a peach Kimono with gold cranes on it, see you then!" I wave back at her over my shoulder, letting her know that I heard her.
I can't help the smile that just wouldn't leave my face. I cross the road out front of the house and can't help but squeal out "This is going to be the best night ever!" As I jump up the curb and land on the pavement. I sit on the front steps to take off my skates before walking inside and seeing Grandma in the kitchen, "You look happy." She says, looking up from her tea and cookie.
I couldn't help the grin on my face as I nodded at her, "Yeah, I am. And excited for tonight." I walk into the loundroom and see the gang sitting there, well, all but one. "Where is Tadashi?" I ask.
Hiro laughs, "He is still asleep. Want to help me wake him up?" he finished with a grin.
"Definitely." We creep up the stairs, stopping to grab a pillow each from my room, before continuing on to Tadashi and Hiro's room. We crept over to his bed, grinned at each other evilly, "Ready," I whispered, looking at Hiro, "Aim! Fire!" We both brought the pillows down onto Tadashi, making him wake with a jump. "Gahh. So not cool you guys." Hiro and I run out of the room, laughing as we went, Tadashi follows us with a yawn.
We all sit down to eat lunch, talking about the festival and what we wanted to do and see when Tadashi looks up, "Hey, when does the festival start?"
"Later tonight." I say, looking up at him, "We will need Kimonos for tonight. This isn't the main festival. It's like the pre-festival, kind of like a warmup before the big festival."
We finish up lunch and the cleaning before heading into town for the Kimonos. Once everyone was happy with their purchases we went back home and got changed before heading back to the festival. I drag them over to the cherry blossom trees, looking around for the peach Kimono, apparently I looked worried because Honey Lemon came up to me, "Sakura, is everything alright? You look worried."
I nod as I keep looking around, suddenly something caught my eye, it was a peach Kimono with gold cranes in it, the person was just facing away from me. I run up her just as she turns around, "You came! I love your Kimono by the way." She says as we walk back over to the gang. My Kimono was a baby pink yukata with patterns of cherry blossoms on it, tied the waist with a green obi and cherry blossom hair clip, keep my hair off my face.
We walk around the festival together, trying different foods and games. There was one that caught my eye though, or more, one of the prizes caught my eye; it was a unicorn with purple tipped wings and a purple, pink and yellow mane and tail with a golden crown. Tadashi saw me looking at, "Do you want me to try and win it for you?" I give a nod with a small smile and he put the money down to play. He takes the last shot and wins, handing the toy straight to me. I hug it close for a moment before letting it go slightly, "Thank you." Tadashi smiles at me and we start moving again. It wasn't too much longer before we had to head back home as the festival was closing for the night.
We head back home, walking in the door and seeing my grandparents in the loundroom, "Did you all have a good time?" We all nod and reply that we did before head upstairs to get changed and go back to the loundroom.
We stay up talking a bit more about the night and about tomorrow before we all head to our rooms, ready for bed when Tadashi stops at my door, "Tonight was really fun, I had a great time. But definitely can't wait for the main festival tomorrow, its going to be great." He finishes with a yawn and I can't help the giggle that escapes as I say goodnight and walks off with a wave.
I climb into bed still thinking about tomorrow, I know I don't have a chance of winning, but I still hope that maybe I could. With that thought, I turn of my light and go to sleep.
